We had a pleasant stay overall and received a warm welcome upon arrival. The staff were friendly and everything went smoothly. We stayed for two nights in a family room with our two teenagers. Our own bed was excellent and very comfortable. Unfortunately, the pull out sofa bed for the children was a different story. The mattress really needs replacing, as you could clearly feel the springs through it, which made it quite uncomfortable to sleep on. Parking is available at the hotel for €30 per night, which is quite expensive, especially when staying for several nights. The location is definitely a big plus. The hotel is within easy walking distance of the historic centre, and in about 10 minutes you can be at the Grote Markt. The Japanese style courtyard was a bit disappointing. It looks like an area with a lot of potential, but there is basically nowhere to sit apart from one stone bench. With some comfortable seating and a little more attention, this could be a really nice place for guests to relax. Overall, our stay was perfectly fine, although I do question the four star rating. We have stayed in hotels with fewer stars that felt more comfortable and better maintained. It somehow feels as though the hotel has lost a little of its energy and could use some renewed attention and investment. That said, we had a good stay, the location is excellent, and I would still recommend the hotel.
Thank you Barnabé for your advice and presence during the stay. Youare always willing to help and provide good service. The hotel was nice, location perfect and bus station at walking distance. I also liked the room. Barnabé is unbelievable and amazing. See you next time Bruges, greets from Costa Rica
My husband and me got a reservation for one night in this so well located hotel @ Brugge, Belgium. Barnabe, the receptionist, not only gave us a warm welcome but made sure we felt comfortable at the hotel. Thank you, Barnabe. Young people like you, make a big difference for travelers when the job responsibilities are taken so serious.
We stayed for one night as part of a land and cruise tour with Gate 1. I am guessing the renovations are taking a long time because I saw no ‘new’ areas. Location was close to the market square so we could enjoy the restaurants and shops. Our breakfast was included as part of our tour cost, but I didn’t love most of the selection. Maybe it’s a cultural difference, but the bacon wasn’t cooked enough nor the eggs. I loved the chocolate croissants, but would have enjoyed a waffle (I was told days ago that Belgian waffles aren’t typical for breakfast).
