Grandezza Hotel Luxury Palace

Beautiful classic hotel with an excellent location The hotel has a beautiful, classic style and a fantastic location right on the main square. Our room was clean and tidy, and the housekeeping was good. A lovely touch was the Lindt chocolate truffles left on the bedside tables on Thursday and Friday evening. The breakfast and coffee were good, and restaurants and pubs are all within easy walking distance. The view over the main square was simply fantastic. There are, however, a few things that could be improved. The bathroom ventilation and extraction system is quite outdated, especially when it comes to removing moisture and unpleasant smells. The windows were also rather difficult to open and close. I was also surprised by the 2,500 CZK deposit taken at check-in, as this had not been expected and resulted in an additional currency-exchange loss because the money was temporarily unavailable to me. We also had an unfortunate experience with a taxi. The BOLT taxi we had ordered ourselves could not drive directly in front of the hotel, so we asked reception to arrange another taxi. The process was rather slow, but a taxi was eventually arranged by the hotel. Unfortunately, the taxi driver was not fair. At our destination, he did not stop the meter immediately, increasing the fare from approximately 157 CZK to 167 CZK. He then charged 200 CZK to my card and also asked for cash several times during the journey. I found this particularly disappointing for a taxi arranged by a five-star hotel. This was especially unfortunate because most of the other hospitality staff and service providers we encountered in Brno were very fair and helpful. Overall, we enjoyed our stay, particularly the location, the wonderful view and the classic atmosphere. However, there are a few details that I feel could be improved for a five-star hotel.

A first class hotel. Deserves all its stars. Really lovely professional staff. Hotel is superbly located with lovely rooms - big comfortable bed, super bathroom, great view over the square. Excellent restaurant attached.

Favorite hotel in BRNO! So nice and luxurious. Beds were comfortable and we had the most amazing suite of our life. Seriously the most unique room I’ve ever rented.

Very warm welcome at Grandezza Brno. Got a free upgrade to a higher room type (to junior suite). Room looked pretty good, but had some weird details. Like a really ugly couch that didn't match the decor at all, and the soap in the toilet felt super cheap. Also a bath instead of a shower was not so comfy. The AC didn't work well, seemed too small for the room. Also there were no blackout curtains. We had all windows and doors closed, however we got woken up at 5:30 AM by a truck picking up glass outside - perhaps management should have a talk with the municipality about timing. Breakfast was pretty decent, not special. The staff is great though, really friendly, helpful and with a generous smile. Our last night was back in a superior room at our request. Smaller, but still spacious. The bathroom was much better because it had a shower instead of a bath. The AC was still annoying there too, and curtains did not sufficiently darken the room. Great people, but rooms need some work.
