Yes, the Hostellerie de la Pointe Saint-Mathieu is out of the way, right at the western tip of Brittany, but it is well worth the trip. The setting alone is breathtaking, with the lighthouse and the ruined abbey standing over the ocean. The Michelin-starred table is just as much a reason to come. We had a fantastic dinner. It starts with a local butter from small Breton cows that is simply to die for. Chef Fabienne then elevates local ingredients with real talent and turns each plate into a work of art. The Pie Noire dish in particular was unforgettable. Stunning scenery, outstanding cuisine: a place that stays with you. We'll be back!

We spent with my wife 4 full days in the hotel; using the spa and eating at the Bistrot. Absolutely perfect on all points. The Spa has got Sauna Haman; Swimming pool, jacuzzi inside and outdoor. This very rare to have such a result. The breakfast is unbelievable; great choices. The staff is very friendly. I highly recommend the place . Maybe tge swimming pool and the both jacuzzis could be warmer....not a big deal.
Had a lovely stay overall. It’s a very nice property in a beautiful location. Facilities are very good for a hotel of this size with a brilliant spa/pool/deck area to relax in, although you are limited to an hour per day as a hotel guest (not great). Two very good restaurants on site, including an excellent Michelin-starred ‘Restaurant de la Pointe Saint Mathieu’. We also loved ‘Bistro 1954’ which has great food too and lovely views over the cliffs and out to the sea! Sit outside if you can as the views are even more amazing, especially at sunset!! There’s an attractive bar area, next to reception/the Michelin restaurant with very good cocktails… plus an outside seating area next to Bistro 1954 where you can have a drink before dinner and take in the view. The staff and service are great throughout! Rooms are on the small side, and those in the top floor have roof angles to contend with (so beware if tall!) making them feel quite cramped. Also, the shower being in the bath is never a great look and something that was missed from what appears to be a relatively recent refurbishment. There is no AC in the rooms - instead each room has a fan. We feel that for the price-point of the hotel this really isn’t okay. Our room got very hot and stuffy and we found it almost unbearable at night even with the fan running. The weather wasn’t particularly hot but the sun beat down on our rooftop ceiling, heating it up through the day and into the evening. So, if the weather is hot (or you like to sleep cool), avoid the top floor, and instead stay on the east-side of the hotel facing the lighthouse. It’s a great property with incredible views and quality facilities, but lack of AC and small rooms don’t quite align to the price. One extra note! It was captivating to watch the lighthouse’s beam constantly sweeping out to sea all through the night, visible whether or not your room faced the lighthouse. (It was also lovely to be able to step out of the rooftop room in the middle of the night and see the lighthouse directly from the corridor - I did this a few times each night). The other lighthouses and warning beacons dotted across the sea at night only added to the magic. It is truly a fantastic location, like nowhere we’ve ever stayed before!
From the moment we stepped into the hotel’s dinner shuttle bus, we found ourselves wishing that we had booked a stay at this hotel rather than merely dining there. That feeling began when the gentleman who drove the hotel’s shuttle came to collect us from our hotel for dinner. What could have been a routine transfer became our first glimpse of the extraordinary hospitality that awaited us. During the drive, he went out of his way to help us, finding a more reasonably priced taxi for our return journey, personally guiding us to our table upon arrival, and even coming back before finishing his shift simply to wish us a wonderful evening. These thoughtful gestures made us feel genuinely welcomed and cared for. The service throughout dinner was exceptional. Our waiter greeted us with a handwritten note, penned in what may well be the most beautiful handwriting we have ever seen. It was such a charming and personal touch, and perfectly reflected the attention to detail that characterized the entire experience. The sommelier was among the most knowledgeable we have ever encountered. His recommendations were insightful, perfectly suited to both our tastes and the cuisine, and added enormously to our enjoyment of the evening. As for the food, the chef delivered something increasingly rare in fine dining: dishes that felt both indulgent and genuinely nourishing. Every plate balanced health, flavour, and creativity with remarkable precision. Rather than relying on richness for impact, the cooking reflected a modern vision of Michelin-starred dining—elegant, vibrant, refined, and utterly delicious. We left not only impressed by the meal but convinced that the true luxury of this place lies in its people. Next time, we hope not only to dine here, but to stay.
Overall impression: Nice hotel in a beautiful location with excellent food and more than enough culinary options for an extended stay! The (very) good: The location is one of my favourite spots in the region. The food at Norwenn Corre's Restaurant was truly excellent this time, more than worthy of the Michelin star! Breakfast and dinner at 'Bistro 1954' were also really good, with plenty of options to choose from. We stayed 5 nights and ate dinner at either the Bistro or the Restaurant every night and were very satisfied by the food every single time. Very friendly staff overall, though the breakfast crew can get a bit overwhelmed during rush hour (no problems if you sit down for breakfast before 8:30 though). What should be improved: I know that mattresses in the region tend to be quite soft (I guess it's a regional/cultural preference?), but here they were backachingly soft and sagging in the middle. The hotel staff were very understanding and did their best to provide us with a firmer mattress, but in the end could only offer to remove the topper, which made it a bit more bearable.
