Victoria Zodiac Boat Whale Watching Adventure

We had an incredible time! 🐋❤️ It was our very first whale-watching experience in Canada, and it was truly unforgettable. Our tour guide, George, was amazing! He was incredibly knowledgeable, super friendly, and made sure everyone had a wonderful time throughout the tour. He shared so much interesting information and made the whole experience even more enjoyable. We couldn’t have asked for a better first whale-watching experience! Booked online, meetup instructions were not clear. Zodiac rides are bumpier than big boat tours and you can’t get closer to the whales than the big boats. Be more comfortable and go on the bigger boats, you’ll get better pictures too (more stable, less rocking in the waves). They did deliver on seeing whales, the guide did a great job of getting us to the whale feeding areas and we saw 5 whales and two different species. This company did provide cold water rescue suits, gloves, and beenies to keep us warm and dry over our street clothes. If you’ve never been on a zodiac boat, this is an ok experience and could be memorable for you.

We couldn’t have a more amazing experience. George was the perfect tour guide with his nice personality and great expertise. We saw some orcas and humpback whales, which was just fabulous. The whole team is just great and the trip is worth every penny. Would absolutely recommend.

This was my very first time going whale watching, and it was an unforgetable experience. Our guide, Mark, was amazing! He was friendly, passionate, and shared so many fascinating insights about the local marine ecosystem and whale behaviour without ever overdoing it. He made everyone on board feel safe and comfortable from start to finish. Seeing these magnificent creatures in the wild for the first time is something I will never forget. I highly recommend Prince of Whales, and definitely ask for Mark if you can!

Absolutely spectacular. We saw orcas on the hunt, humpback whales breaching, a ton of sea lions and even a bit of sunshine. My advice, however, is to leave the phone camera - no matter how good it is advertised - at home and invest and invest in a quality camera and lens. Otherwise, a brilliant experience and value for money

Fantastic Zodiac whale watching tour with Prince of Whales! The experience was exciting, well organized, and gave us amazing wildlife sightings. A special thanks to Mark, our guide, who was absolutely outstanding. His knowledge, enthusiasm, and passion for marine wildlife made the tour even more memorable. Mark was phenomenal, whales galore

We turned up really hoping to see killer whales , there had been sitings the last 2 days. Our captain heard there was sitings and passed some humpbacks whales to catch the orcas. It was amazing and we saw about 7! Then the captain took us back to the hump back whales that we passed earlier so we got the best of both worlds. Really recommend this trip as the ribbed boat is quick and good to get to locations quick. Also we kept distance from the whales as not to disturb them. Got a good look at some sea lions on the way back as well. A great morning out!

Michel did a great job. We visited maybe spots, saw and identified whales but never felt like we were too close to cause and issues to them

We recently did the tour from Victoria and had the best time - this was my second time and will definitely be back. Our guide (George) was awesome - so knowledgeable, helpful and just generally really friendly and really made the trip for us. We got so lucky with orcas and humpbacks and felt totally safe on the water. The zodiac experience definitely added a level of adventure and was really comfortable for the time we were on the water. Great tour! Boat captains are very knowledgeable and know where to observe the whales. We went on the 12 passenger catamaran which I think is the way to go! Beautiful area.

We had an amazing time on the Zodiac with Rajan. Amber was also amazing. All the staff were very friendly and knowledgable. We were lucky to see Orcas and Humpbacks which was great. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking at tours in Victoria.

Amazing! Raj was fabulous - knowledgeable, kind, respectful, safe. We were able to see many orcas… And they were porpoising, on their bellies and flapping tails, and breaching. We know that is the luck of the draw… But what we saw was fabulous, and Raj was as excited as we were. We also were able to see sea lions and humpback whales. All boats out there were respectful and kept their distances. We did spend a lot of time with the orcas, which is what our group wanted to do… So we were a little rushed on the way back, but we were still out for 3 1/2 hours solid. Highly recommend Prince of whales and Raj.

Well organised and staff were very helpful and friendly. Good advice to wrap up warm and take hat and gloves for when out on the water.

We had an absolutely fantastic time on the whale watching zodiac tour and sae a lot of whales! Georg our Guide did an amazing job throughout the entire trip. He was very knowledgeable, professional, and clearly passionate about the wildlife, which made the experience even more enjoyable. We would definitely recommend this tour to anyone visiting the area. A fantastic experience and one of the highlights of our trip!

Great Experience!!! We saw harbor seals, sea lions, a sea otter and lots of humpback whales. Our specific tour sadly didn’t spot any orcas but they did the previous day. Our guide George took free professionals photos for us which he emailed everyone on the Zodiac. The zodiac is smaller and allows you to get up close and experience the ocean unlike any tour we have taken. Highly recommend this company and all there locations.we felt safe the whole time.

We had a fantastic experience with Prince of Whales! The crew and tour guides were professional and very knowledgeable, sharing interesting information about the whales and the area throughout the trip. We were lucky enough to see both orcas and humpback whales, which was definitely the highlight of the tour. The trip was well organized, comfortable, and enjoyable from start to finish. I’m really glad we chose this tour. It was well worth the money, and I would absolutely do it again.

We did the zodiac tour with Mike and it was honestly, a once in a lifetime experience. We were lucky enough to observe Humpback whales and several different orcas. As well as seeing different sea lions and sea birds. The viewings were all from appropriate distances and the animals were respected and not chased down for better sightings. The zodiac we went on, is part of their new fleet and the seats are all shock absorbers and suspension fitted, which made for a very comfortable ride. Mike was a fantastic captain with evident confidence and experience on the waters. He is very knowledgeable about the whales and orcas also, and his enthusiasm for the water and the mammals is contagious . Don’t even hesitate to book this experience.

I have worked in Hawaii on whale watch boats for many years where my job was three fold- naturalist on boats, trainer of crew and secret shopper for crews. Using a comprehensive scoring rubic of competencies for crews I became proficient in recognizing excellence . On September 11, 2026 I went on a Prince of Wales whale watch with Mark Malleson. Mark is by far the very best captain, and naturalist I have ever encountered. His knowledge of the waters off of Vancouver Island is by far the most extensive after 30 years in this position. He is a delightful person who gave us valuable information about what we were seeing in a thoughtful and cheerful manner. He is an excellent driver, took great care of us all by providing clear safety information and showed us both humpback whales as well as killer whales, seals, many birds ( including a red footed boobie- rarely seen here. I have been out in these waters many times but never have learned so much or enjoyed the trip more than with Mark. His careful attention and knowledge made this trip the best whale watch for everyone. Additionally- the boat was the most comfortable boat I have been on, the check in was easy, we were given safety suits and everyone at Price of Whales was friendly and helpful. 5 stars are not enough- don’t miss the opportunity of a lifetime.

Captain George was amazing! The zodiac boat is the best way to go. We saw 4 whales on the 4 hour tour and lots of sea lions.

Mark was extremely knowledgeable about the area and the wildlife. Had a great time and excited to go back soon.

Raj was great. We met 2:15 pm to suit up (zodiac) and took off a little after 2:30 (advertised time). Back right at 5:30 and done suiting up at 5:41. Saw one orca who came right up by our boat, his mom in the distance, and then a lone humpback. The latter gave us a splashy entrance (a somersault but I just saw the splash and then lots of spouts and back/fin. The ride is also a blast! We rode into the wind on the way back, so got wet! A little nature and adventure was perfect. Raj originally said we'd stick to watching the orcas, but when I asked about humpbacks, he immediately volunteered to go look for them! My only "criticism" is that there is no QR code to tip via venmo (I actually don't know if they even have that in Canada). I never have cash, but Raj, you deserved a tip.

Was an awesome experience with Captian Franois, First Mate Tyler and Naturalists, Rhianna, Eden and Michael. They provide soo much valuable information and very pleasant experience.Dont change a thing. FIRST CLASS OPERATION!! What a great Birthday celebration for my wife Ruth. Kansas City.

We had a really memorable and enjoyable trip where we got to see killer whales tossing sea lions, humpback whales feeding and sea lions lounging. Andrei was very knowledgeable and shared a lot of details about the whales and the conservation efforts underway.

Great outing! Enjoyed following pair of orcas (apparently a rare sighting!) for a good long while. Also saw humpbacks, dolphins, porpoises. Raj was a safe driver and knowledgeable guide. Dress warmly.

Lovely whale watching experience today from Victoria Harbour, we managed to see 4 killer whales. We booked with Prince of Whales Tours, and Michael the boat driver was amazing. I would highly recommend the trip.

We had an amazing tour! We saw at least 9 different killer whales and a humpback. Our afternoon group managed to coincide with some of them feeding, so we saw lots of behaviors, including spy hopping and tail slapping. Our guide George was very kind and enthusiastic, and he even shared a bunch of excellent photos he caught once we got back.

Wonderful experience! Mark is a pro and found 2 pods of orcas plus a humpback and tons of sea lions and seals. It was chilly when he got up to the high speed but the suit helped a lot.

Michael was great!!! We saw lots of whales and he was great at explaining what we were seeing!

Captain Raj is amazing. We had so much fun on their new zodiac. The experience was really great. I was concerned about the chop on the ocean because of a back injury I've been recovering from. But the seawave seats are super shock absorbing and I never once felt like the boat was jarring.

Reasonably priced compared to other whale watching experiences I’ve done. Michael was great! He was knowledgeable, easy to talk to and made the ride fun!!

Michael was great tour Leader. He knew exactly where to go to see all kinds of whales in their pods and we even got to see some seals. Unfortunately, on this trip, we didn’t get to see any humpback whales.

Had a great experience while on the water. Mark our tour guide was very interactive and knew everything about the whales. Mark made the experience the best it could have been. The fee was so worth every dollar. It was the perfect amount of time on the water and a great activity if you’re in Victoria.

We had Mark as a tour guide and he made the trip such an experience! He knew so much about orcas, answered all our questions, made us laugh, and found all the sea life with ease! 10/10 recommend and a shout out to Mark for making it that much better!

Brilliant experience. I wanted to see Orcas and we saw 9 of them sharing a feed. There was also a humpback whale. The ride was a bit choppy, but well worth it. Our captain, George, was great. I would recommend this tour to anyone. They didn't make any promises, but they sure delivered.

We took the Aug 19, 2026 12:30pm Zodiak tour with Mark, @markmallesonphotography. It was a wonderful experience. Mark was fantastic, he truly cares about the wildlife and the safety and enjoyment of his passengers. We learned so much and witnessed some amazing and unusual wildlife behavior. Best of all, I got to see and capture “Jack” the Orca breaching. His pod had killed a seal and were messing around with a humpback whale. Stunning!

Mike was our guide and did an amazing job getting us out on thr water. We were able to see the Orca's and many other sea animals. It was so much fun!!
