Itinerary
We'll start the walking tour here with a warm cup of organic hot chocolate from legendary Vancouver cafe, Trees!
Built in 1906 as the city's courthouse, this neo-classical beauty is one of the city's most loved heritage buildings. Just wait till you hear the story of what happened to the architect who designed it!
Built in the 1920s, the Hotel Georgia is famous in the city for its connections to black entertainment history and its lavish lobby, bedecked in holiday decorations this time of year.
Vancouver's most famous, most opulent, and most beautiful hotel is a signature stop on this tour. We'll explore inside and out, with a visit into the Art Deco heart of the building and spaces immaculately preserved from when the hotel opened in 1937. Bonus for this tour, the hotel lobby is lovingly decorated with holiday motifs this time of year. A must visit site for anyone visiting Vancouver over the holiday season, and we'll take you there!
We'll visit one of the city's most loved winter attractions, "Gingerbread Lane" at the Hyatt Regency. It's a must-do holiday activity in Vancouver and we'll take you there!
Hold onto your hats for a visit to the finest heritage building in Vancouver, and some say all of Canada. The Marine Building is an Art Deco masterpiece. The lobby is absolutely breathtaking, no more so than over the holiday season when lovingly decorated by the building owners.

We went on the Vancouver Holiday History & Hot Chocolate walking tour on Dec 31,2025 and absolutely loved it. The guide was excellent, well spoken, knew the history of Vancouver, and was entertaining. The guide walked us safely around the downtown with stops that were not too long. We live in Vancouver and have been on many walking tours in cities in other countries, but this was the first one we did in our own home town. We plan to go back and go on the Gastown tour. Would highly recommend this.
Glenn was a fabulous guide. Perfectly dressed for the part, he kept us all entertained and informed the whole time - even in the rain. I highly recommend! 👍
This was a great experience and I would definitely recommend to anyone interested in the history or culture behind Vancouver and the Pacific Northwest or anyone touring my wonderful city. My guide was Rob.
The tour was really fun, and Glenn is a very good orientator for telling stories. He is very knowledgeable about the history of the area. Not that he had any control over it but was glad the monsoons ended just before the tour started.
THE HOLIDAY HISTORY AND HOT CHOCOLATE WALKING TOUR, SPICED UP BY A TALENTED GUIDE, VANCOUVER 2025: Thank God in His Name of Jesus, Amen! This tour, conducted and operated by the Forbidden Vancouver Tour, was really hot. First, at the strat of the tour in the early evening of 17 December 2025, we were provided hot chocolate to sip on during the walking tour that lasted one and a half hours more or less, and, second, we were regaled with hot bits and pieces of information about political, economic, media, and social scandals that played out in Vancouver, Canada, involving city politicians and society personalities in the 1920s until the Second World War. What made the tour truly interesting was the characterization, as it were, of the historical accounts and scandals by Marina, the walking tour guide from the Forbidden Vancouver Tour. Marina came from the Vancouver theater circuit prior to shifting as a tour guide. Using her theater experience to the hilt, Marina literally breathed to life Vancouver’s history and the scandals that spiced it up. My wife, Judge Angelina, expressed total amazement at the way Marina pulled each of the 50 or so pictures from her shoulder bag, bringing up with precision the exact picture of the historical event that she was discussing, even without sorting the pictures out first. It was fun and exhilarating—-the tour, I mean. Salamat Panginoong Jesus, Amen!
Aislynn was fantastic as our tour guide. While we walked through downtown - looping around from Granville Street (outdoors and indoors) and ending at the Marine Building (a place I'd seen a million times but never registered it's significance!) - she showed us wonderful architecture and also spun the tales of people who lived in the earlier days of the city.
Our History and Hot Chocolate tour was amazing. Our guide Glenn was a fantastic story teller and kept our group engaged with the tales of days gone by in Vancouver. This was our second Forbidden Vancouver tour and we have thoroughly enjoyed both. Would definitely recommend this tour company if you would like to hear intriguing, fun facts about Vancouver.
We have done most of the Forbidden City Walking Tours and enjoy all of them. This one was just as awesome! We were taken all over the downtown portion of Vancouver, and heard so many stories! The best part is at the last stop - the Marine Building. It is stunning!!
best tour on our trip. guide was acoomodating and very knowledgeable and friendly. couldn't have asked for a better art deco treat!
Such a fun activity and a great way to learn more about the history and the scandalous past of Vancouver. Glenn was our storyteller and he was very entertaining and also checked in with all members of the group to ensure everyone was ok and following along. Highly recommend for both lower maintains locals and tourists to the area. Also the hot chocolate from Trees was delicious!
We had a great time on our tour of Vancouver with Aislynn. We learned so many interesting things about the scandalous history of this beautiful city. If you love history or just enjoy an interesting and engaging storyteller, I highly recommend that you book this tour! We also enjoyed checking out all of the beautiful hotels decked out for the holidays. Thank you Aislynn!
Highly recommend taking a tour with Forbidden Vancouver. Rob was our tour guide and was incredibly knowledgable, friendly, and entertaining. We took the hot chocolate history tour and it was exactly what we were hoping it would be. We learned a lot and got to see some beautiful buildings and some holiday decorations. The tour was well organized. Rob made sure everyone could hear/see and kept a good pace throughout. Very impressed and would happily take more tours from them.
Great introductory tour to Vancouver. The guide was very knowledgeable and added humor to the history. He did a great job of keeping track of the group on the busy streets and showing us some lovely buildings
Will was such an informative and fun tour host who explained part of Vancouver’s histories I’ve never heard before. The hot chocolate was amazing and the tour featured a lot of architectural descriptions which I find fascinating. Including a lot of art deco buildings to look at. Thank you, Will!
We really enjoyed learning about our own city and especially the history of the buildings we see from outside everyday. We didn’t want the tour to end! Our guide was great too!
