Oak Bay Beach Hotel

We visited this pizzeria today, and Pedro was incredibly kind and attentive. He gave us wonderful service, brought us blankets, and even moved a heavy patio heater over to our table to keep us warm. His thoughtfulness really impressed us, and we wanted to share our experience with everyone. Come visit this place—you’ll feel so welcome thanks to lovely people like Pedro. This is a true 5 star hotel. The restaurants and food are great and my sister and I loved that the spa areas were always quiet and relaxing. All of the staff were very kind to us and were extremely helpful. I received a discount because I booked my trip for during the day week which was amazing. Upon check out I thought I left some items in the room which might of looked like trash to some but were important to me and the hotel staff and manger were extremely kind and helpful in helping me determine if cleaning staff threw my items out. They did not and I lost them during an outing unfortunately but I really appreciated that I was emailed back and that they tried their best to see what happened to my items. I wouldn’t hesitate to book this hotel and definitely would like to return. The hotel and both restaurants were extremely diligent about my party’s allergies which is so appreciated. If you want to relax this is the hotel to book!

Stayed for a week around $800 a night, I expected a higher level of service and attention to detail. At check-in, there was no explanation or rundown of the hotel’s amenities. I had to find out on my own, on the second day, about the pool, gym, and sauna. I also wasn’t given any information about how parking worked in the parking garage. I assumed the parking spot was assigned based on my room number, but that wasn’t the case. I had to go back into the lobby to clarify how the parking system worked. When I asked an employee about the pool, they initially assumed I wasn’t a guest and told me, “It’s for guests only.” I had to explain that I was staying at the hotel before they provided the pool hours and information on how to access it. The service at the lobby restaurant was also quite slow. While the staff were generally okay, some interactions felt somewhat unwelcoming. I do want to give credit to the housekeeping staff. The maids were extremely professional, courteous, and provided excellent service. Their attention to detail and overall service were greatly appreciated. Overall, for the price point, I expected more attentive and welcoming service throughout the hotel. A better check-in experience, clearer communication about amenities and parking, and more consistent service would make a significant difference.

We spent 3 enjoyable days at the Oak Bay Beach Hotel. It's located in a lovely area with lots of walking paths and beautiful views. The hotel is a reasonably short drive (depending on traffic) from downtown Victoria. The hotel staff we encountered were all friendly and helpful. We were given a garden room on the ground floor (a surprise upgrade) with a small patio overlooking the pool area and the strait beyond. The patio had its own fire table, welcome since the evenings were cool during our stay. The room was spacious and well appointed. The bed was very comfortable. The entire hotel was spotlessly clean and appeared to be very well maintained. The room had several thoughtful features I wish all hotels would adopt: soft-close toilet seats, USB ports for charging on every nightstand, and a nightlight in the bathroom.
