Needed an alternative to Cardiff and at a sensible price. Easy rail connections and buses nearby. My previous hotel in Newport is now closed so I decided to to choose this hotel over the nearby lodge. It was a good choice very friendly staff and quick check in. The room was spotless and everything worked, only one slight issue with the sink but it was resolved easily. This is my new option for when I will be needing to stay in South Wales.. So definitely Newport over Cardiff for me.

We stayed at the Mercure Hotel Newport while visiting a friend and had a great experience. The hotel is modern, clean, and in a convenient location for exploring the city. We got a free upgrade to a Privilege Room, which was spacious, well equipped, and had fantastic views across Newport. The bed was comfortable, and the room had everything we needed for a relaxing overnight stay. Breakfast was fresh and good quality, although the choice was a little limited. The standout feature of our stay was the staff, who were all friendly, polite, and helpful from check-in to check-out. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would happily return. I would definitely recommend the Mercure Hotel to anyone visiting Newport.
Stayed here for a work trip. The hotel its self is nice but the area it is located in is questionable. The room was lovely, but one of the complementary shower gels wouldn’t function. The sink also took a very long time to drain between uses. I was on the 14th floor and the views were lovely. All in all a great stay. Bed was comfy and shower was nice. We had breakfast included which was a buffet. There wasn’t much seating in use and we ended up having to make ourselves a larger table. There were only fried eggs in the buffet area, and the coffee machine was broken which was disappointing. Overall a good stay. I probably would stay here again.
Fantastic hotel with luxury feel, staff very friendly and engaging. As a business traveller very refreshing to stay in a hotel and feel relaxed and refreshed especially given the current heatwave! Great chilled rooftop bar as well. Overall 5 stars for everything. Could not fault anything. Breakfast options great too. Good effort Mercure 👍
We have stayed here this weekend and I have to say the property is exceptionally clean throughout. The rooms are well looked after & all the staff we came across from reception, bar & housekeeping, were all very welcoming and kind. We were generously upgraded by the hotel to a Jnr suit (room 1303) which did not dissopoint. Lovely views, huge bathroom, clean & the fridge with beverages had been restocked daily, free of use which was a lovely touch. The hotel itself is situated in a brilliant location, close to shops, cafes, taxi's and a couple of mins walk to the local bus station if you need it. Parking from Sat-Mon cost us £25 in the local carpark, which we thought was fair given other hotels we have stayed often charge you that for the use of one day. The carpark felt safe to leave your vehicle, and again so close to the hotel and shops. We didn't eat at the hotel as we had plans but the food looked good with plenty to offer. I will be returning to this hotel 100% and highly reccomend it to anyone visiting Newport.
