Some of the staff weren’t particularly friendly or helpful. Family room was excellent however. Doubles are compact. Service at the dinner was okay but very slow. Location is lovely but the car park entrance was mighty tight with an estate car. Village lovely.

Took a family member out for a birthday Sunday lunch, staff were friendly, accommodating and made the occasion that extra bit special. One of the best Sunday lunches I think I’ve ever had personally, and confirmed by the other people in the party that afternoon. I will highly recommend and no doubt be back for more. Thanks again to the staff.
We enjoyed our two-night stay at The Dragon Inn. The location is fantastic for exploring Crickhowell and the surrounding area, the staff were friendly throughout, and the bed was very comfortable. The continental breakfast was lovely, with fresh fruit, pastries, cold meats and cheese, and the custard Danish was absolutely delicious! Unfortunately, the cooked breakfast, which you pay extra for, was disappointing. We waited around 40 minutes and my shakshuka arrived with an egg that was essentially raw apart from a very thin layer of cooked white, so I couldn't eat it. My partner's Full Welsh had a tomato and mushroom that were still raw inside, and the "toasted sourdough" was really just warmed bread. To their credit, when we checked out we discovered they'd only charged us for the Full Welsh and had removed the cost of my breakfast without us having to ask or complain, which we really appreciated and thought was good customer service. The biggest issue with our room was privacy. There were windows on either side of the room overlooking a walkway leading to a tunnel beneath the building. People approaching the tunnel passed the windows at essentially eye level with us while we were lying on the bed. It meant we didn't feel comfortable having the blinds open at all and kept them closed throughout our two-night stay, which made the room feel quite enclosed. Overall, we had an enjoyable stay. The comfortable bed, friendly staff and great location were definite positives, and we appreciated how they dealt with the breakfast charge. With better attention to the cooked breakfast and a solution to the privacy issue in that particular room, it would have been a much better experience.
We popped in for some dinner with the dog. It's a nice pub and the service and food were spot on. Considering the horrendous price of everything these days, it was quite reasonable. The service was very attentive and friendly. I had a home made pie (a proper pie with 'walls and a base' lol. We thought it would be a nice place for a bite to eat and a drink and it certainly exceeded our expectations. I'm sure we'll be back next time we're in Crickhowell.
We didn’t stay hence no stars but if the rooms are as good as the welcome and the food then o suspect it’s also five stars. We went here for lunch this weekend as a break from Green Man festival. We felt really welcomed and the pub is immaculate. Food was perfect, great value and good portions. We had the mushroom pate for a starter and it was excellent. We shared the roast chicken for main and the red wine gravy was amazing. Chips were perfection and the coleslaw sadly beat my homemade version. They also make a generous and fab Aperol. We only get to come once a year but we’ll be back next August.
