My wife and I stayed here on Saturday night, as we were on a late flight into Bristol airport. After a 20 min drive, we arrived at just gone 1 am. As we proceeded to reception we passed a table where one of the guests was passed out/asleep in his chair. Although the room was already paid for they insisted on taking a card to pay for "extras". This meant paying for parking which is in addition to the room charge. We were given our room key but not told where to go. The receptionist may know the lift is just round the corner, new guests do not. Late at night and tired is not a time to fumble around an unknown building. Our room was close to the lift and the conversation of passers by was easy to listen to. Which I did, a lot; instead of sleep. At around 3:30 am there was constant hammering which I presumed was the guest I noticed on the way in who knew he wanted a bed, but was not trusted with a key. I would not return but instead would use a local B&B. If you are continuing your journey eastwards in an EV a shout out to Chippenham Pit Stop which provides much better value than DoubleTree.

Booked this hotel to facilitate an early flight out of Bristol Airport. Reviewing it based on this, it was ideal. It’s a large hotel sitting in an elevated position with nice views. An almost rabbit warren type layout (at least to get to our room) rooms were ok, nothing spectacular, air con, tv, tea/coffee making facilities. The bar area is large, with a decent drinks selection. There is an outdoor seating area that’s a sun trap and great for soaking up the rays, and admiring the views. There was a wedding on when we were there, music was loud and could be heard from the room, also one of the wedding party must of over done it on the alcohol and emptied the contents of their stomach on the hallway carpet, which was being cleaned up by staff as we walked past. It happens I guess, 6pm is some effort! It has a seperate out building called the club, which contains the pool, pool is a decent size with a jacuzzi area included, another jacuzzi which is separate, steam and sauna rooms. I believe there was a hot tub outside but didn’t venture out. The pool is cool temp wise, You have to pay to park. We ate at the Marco Pierre restaurant, my meal (pork rib eye) was poor - terrible cut, full of gristle, over cooked, under seasoned greens - utter rubbish. The steaks others had were good. Don’t forget to put your reg in at check in.
Lovely place. Stayed for a wedding. Beautiful room with a wonderful view. Only thing not happy about is the fact you still have to pay for parking, which is added to your bill. While I appreciate the need to determine people from taking advantage of free parking to go on walks or explore the local area, I don't think residents should also be charged after spending £200 for a room. We register our car at the beginning so shouldn't have parking added on top.
People are not quiet in the halls walking to their rooms. Lots of loud talking, even someone singing louding in the shower at 10 at night. That people over half the floor heard. The staff are great, brilliant help with allergies and fussy eaters at the restaurant. Managed to fit in for a facial, bliss. May try the pool and sauna tomorrow, before the children are allowed in after 10.30am, as this is also a family oriented hotel. It also does beautiful wedding events, yesterday we arrived to the evening dancing, away front the room, music until 12.00. While this afternoon there is a beautiful outside wedding ceremony happening in a Gazzebo.
Great base for exploring towns and villages south of Bristol. Rooms are comfortable and quiet. Breakfast was superb. Staff and helpful when called upon. The swimming pool and gym and a nice addition. The surroundings are lovely. The only issue is, there is almost nothing to do in the immediate area. - There’s a couple of pubs within walking distance (10mins) that do food, but if you want any quick eats, you’ll struggle.
