The property is gorgeous. The staff was very kind and welcoming. We had a lake front room, so not inside the castle itself (which is exactly what we booked). It was quiet and felt secluded for a nice relaxing time. But there was no air control in the room. During the day, it was too hot and we left the sliding door open for air movement. But at night, we didn't feel comfortable leaving it open so it got warm in the room. Also the hotel claims to to a 4 star hotel. I feel that's a bit of a bold claim. Definitely a lovely place to stay but the property could use some major updates. The pool area could use a clean up. And the onsite spa appears to be a new addition but misses the mark of a relaxing onsite spa.

We booked this hotel as a gift to my husband and son in order to golf. Us girls hoped for a spa day. First of all, the hotel looks stunning. However, when given a room; rather than staying in the castle looking building or even lovely outbuildings - we were given a place aroujd thebside, that looked like a council estate. The appliances were old plastic aged things. The extra bed we requested had broken springs - so my son sunk as if he was in a hammock. The fan was broken, so ended up with one fan between 2 very hot rooms. In regards to the spa and golf - we were told at just before 6pm, that they closed and to check the next morning. We learned it was booked till 11 due to many clubs there. And spa was full. So absolutely a waste of our time and Money; not to mention the room was dirty inside and out. I showed pictures but we were never moved or anything done at all to clean up the hair in shower or dirty shoe prints in bathroom.
Beautiful location however you need to wait for golfere to finish playing until you can actually browse around. It can get very busy. Staff is lovely and very welcoming, zero complaints! The food at the bar was poor quality (avoid Poke salad, the dressing is absurd and makes it impossible to eat), better food at the Grill restaurant. The room was decent however ours (118) was on the ground floor facing the golf course. Golfers could easily look inside hence zero privacy. The blackout curtains are not the best solution because you need lights on during the most bright days. Also, no air con. When it is over 30 degrees outside you can imagine it is tough. You cant open thr window much due to the blocker and they provide you with a small ventilator. I had a really difficult night, sweat a lot. Very uncomfortable. Gym and pool are ok, they are open to the public so they get busy quite quickly.
I had an amazing stay and would highly recommend this hotel. The environment is absolutely beautiful, with stunning scenery that makes it a perfect place to relax and unwind. The village-style cabins are charming, well-maintained, and very comfortable. The beds were especially comfortable, ensuring a great night’s sleep. The golf courses are excellent, and there are some fantastic restaurants offering great food and a wonderful atmosphere. The walking areas are beautiful, with lovely paths that let you fully appreciate the peaceful surroundings. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Overall, this was a fantastic stay, and I would definitely love to come back. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing and enjoyable getaway.
We are still here at the moment, as came for a two night stay. The grounds are lovely however this is for the golfers. Our room was smallish but ok, apart from the cleaning, furniture all very dusty and dated. It needs a lot of maintenance for the little things shower was rubbish and not the cleanest. The room furniture is old scratches everywhere. There was dead flies on the ceiling and a dirty plate by the patio doors. The ability to charge phones and tablets overnight was not good as you would have had to sleep with the light on for it to charge items. I had a facial in the spa, lovely but only lasted 20 minutes and for £49, absolutely not worth the cost. We ask for some fresh towels, bins emptied and tea and coffee to be replenished, this did not happen. When I rang reception i was told rooms were still being cleaned. Fair enough although it was after 3pm. We were then told our room wasn't on the cleaners list. Some aspects of the hotel are good but not worth the cost and certainly needs a lot of updating and TLC. Would not stay there again. Pictures show some of the issues. 3 star at best. Would not reccomend.
