The staff were super friendly and very helpful from start to finish. The room was fun and quirky and had everything we needed. Teas, coffee, water, prosecco etc. We stayed in the Love Nest and would highly recommend. Fantastic value for what you get. It had a huge bathtub, a log burning fire, a rooftop patio to relax on, and a huge bed. Recommend booking for dinner when you make your booking as it books up very fast. Dinner and breakfast were both fantastic. They also do a 70p artic roll for dessert which was fun. The property is dog friendly throughout and they even provided treats, a toy, a bowl and a blanket too which was a nice touch. Bowl and cushion in the room too. A nice traditional pub which we enjoyed during our visit in October. We will definitely be coming back during the summer as it looks well set up with outdoor kitchen and live music/DJ nights etc. Thank you so much for looking after us!

The Bell in Ticehurst is basically a tourist’s dream of what Britain should look and feel like, and I mean that in the best possible way. The beams are so wonderfully crooked you wonder how the whole place is still standing, and the atmosphere is ridiculously cosy. I stayed in the most whimsical room, full of character and the sort of details that make staying somewhere part of the trip rather than just somewhere to sleep. The food isn’t just excellent; it’s outrageous. And I honestly cannot remember having better service. Whoever selected the staff deserves enormous credit, because the people here make an already special place even better. If you’re coming to Britain hoping for old beams, charm, exceptional food and a warm welcome, this is exactly the place you’re imagining.
Stopped here for dinner after a day out at Bedgebury and it was fantastic. Amazing ambiance; classic old pub with a beautiful veranda. The food was great, we had the crispy squid and trout salad followed by the bell ringer pizza and chicken roast, then the chocolate mousse and passion fruit curd. The kids likewise enjoyed their pizza and fried chicken. My only complaint is that the Hugo was more gin than elderflower.
We stayed in the bird room with our dog for one night. The pub is lovely and the lady who showed us to our room was friendly and welcoming. Honey our cockapoo got a lovely welcome pack the best we have ever had. The room was well equipped and had a massive shower, only problem was it was 27 degrees in the room even with the fan,and our dog was struggling and panting all night,I had to leave the top of the barn door open all night so I didn't get much sleep. That's not anyone's thought just it was the hottest day in may on record. The evening meal was lovely and the pub atmosphere was brilliant. The bar staff and evening waiting staff were helpful and friendly ( our waiter/bar man has only been there 2 weeks )but he was very friendly and helpful when asked about the menu. The 3 stars was for the first days experience. Unfortunately the morning felt like we woke up in a different pub, waiter was not very friendly and no service with a smile or morning welcome (I don't think he wanted to be there) my wife enjoyed her pancakes but my full English was served up on a cold plate which ment cold bacon, cold black pudding cold beans, luke warm sausage, eggs and hash brown. We were the only 2 at breakfast 7.40am but I didn't mind the 20 minute wait as I thought it was being cooked fresh, we have been to alot of bed and breakfast establishments over the 6 years with our dog and I have had warmer hot buffet breakfasts then the one at the bell,I left most of it,the waiter never once came over to clear plates so didn't bother as he was not approachable. I wanted to tell someone when leaving our key however no one was there when we left, plus when we asked the waiter where we should leave the key he told us put it on the desk. Would he better if there was a box to post key in for early leavers. I was going to give 3 stars but I don't think it would have been fair as it was the most dog friendly places we have been to, so 4 stars for the first day and -1 star for the morning service and staff member.
Just had a really delicious Sunday Roast. Well prepared, quality ingredients, with a twist on the trimmings - cauliflower puree, heritage carrots and parsnips (cut long), tasty cabbage, large and very crispy roasties, a big, puffy Yorkshire pud, flavourful gravy and apple sauce. Our party of four all had the roast pork that was rolled with excellent crackling and crispy bits. The cut of meat had a little more ‘soft’ fat than I like but I can’t fault the preparation. The venue is gorgeous and quirky with loads of unusual decor and pieces of furniture. There is a super beer garden at the rear with fun seating areas. The staff and service were fantastic. Their interactions were genuinely friendly and kind. The staff alone would make me want to return so it is great that the food is so good. Only tweaks that would make it perfect for me; a bit more gravy and fix the wobbly table. I’ll be back…
