The guy gave information about the platter of 9 cheeses along with 3 glasses of wine, one red, one white and one sweet. Would have liked a written sheet on the wine and cheeses that we got. Also, the wine was in short supply in relation to the cheeses. Felt we could have had another glass each. Not good value for money.

I had a wonderful afternoon visiting the wine groves of St Émilion with Ophorus tours. Our guide Alice was extremely attentive and informative. Our van we travelled in was both clean & modern. It was a small intimate group which I personally loved. I do not drink so I was hesitant of doing the trip but I really enjoyed it as I learnt about how the winery works and how people live in this beautiful region of France. It was an absolutely fabulous day (weather wise) and after the tour of the wine works and house we were brought to the local medieval village of saint-Émilion itself and that was just magical. It really was a trip that I will not forget! Thank you Alice!!
Absolutely recommend doing this wine & cheese experience. The host is knowledgeable and spoke English well, and was very able to convey knowledge of the Bordeaux wine making as well as their cheeses. It is less about "pair this wine with this cheese," and more about learning best practices and what to look for in pairings, which to me helps apply it in the future. Also, they were very adamant that while this experience is about showing you some best practices for pairings, ultimately you can pair whatever wine with whatever cheese you like as long as you like it. The restaurant we went to was a cheese restaurant with over 100 cheeses too; I wish we knew earlier in our trip so we could book a meal there as well!
These are the smallest wine tastings that we have had, three wines and mediocre at best Cheese was good but should be as it was at a cheese restaurant Not worth the money Disappointed we did it Met a nice coupe from the US but apart from that it was a poor activity
I decided to do this activity at the start of a month in France, as a way to learn about some new cheeses that I could then look out for. I did taste several that I hadn’t tried before, and the wine pairing was good, so it met my objective. The service/host was ok - it definitely felt like something he did every day and just a job. No introductions between the group or personal connection. Overall it was ok but I would suggest other options would bebetter value for money and more enjoyable
Host was very knowledgeable and perfect parings of cheese and wine. And met some great fellow travellers!
Very nice event with a carismatic guy informing about the wines and cheeses. A nice venue that I recommend.
We had a lovely time learning about regional cheeses which were paired with appropriate wines. We had plenty of time to enjoy each cheese with a particular glass of wine. The host was knowledgeable and very friendly and his English was excellent.
The host was inviting, funny & very knowledgeable of what wine paired with the cheese on offer. A must tour.
Excellent experience. We learned so much about French wine and how to apply the information to ordering wine when you are out and/or in a wine store. Our family truly enjoyed tasting the delicious cheeses and learning how the cheese can bring the wine to life and vice versa. If you love cheese and wine, I would highly recommend this tasting.
Very well explained wine and cheese tasting, very good selection of wines and cheeses on offer. Wines also available to buy after the tasting
Knowledgeable host excellent selection of cheeses and wines beautiful cheese cave Perfect way to spend an hour
We thoroughly enjoyed our wine and cheese tasting. Our host was quite friendly and interesting, and we learned a lot about French cheese and wine pairing. We recommend this activity.
Great experience Very knowledgeable Offered a great insight into the wines and cheese of the region Thank you
Great map of wine regions. Knowledgeable about cheeses. Interesting conversation with fellow participants
Short and sweet tasting session. More than enough for a short trip to Bordeaux. The tour was in English and the main host spoke good English although muddled up a lot of facts. He was a funny chap though so it added to the experience. The cheese sommelier had more broken English but we got the gist of most of it. Work a visit as the price was reasonable.
Learned a ton about how to pair wines with cheese and French cheeses in general. Definitely worth the price, glad we had this experience. Highly recommended.
A fun and memorable experience. Good cheese and wine and great banter from the host. A delightful afternoon.
This is a lovely little activity to do with friends. there were 3 wines and 9 different cheeses to sample.
I am the director of my university's Bordeaux program, and I booked this for my students and I. It was super! We learned about wine and cheeses we'd never heard of. The man who ran it was very nice and accommodating. Thanks for a great trip!
Good, fun experience. Very informative. I would recommend for anyone especially if you don’t have a full day or half day to go out on a winery tour this is a great way to still learn about the local wine and taste cheese from all over France.
Very unreasonable. I mistakenly booked wine tastings and tours the weekend before I visited France. I realized after the tours the mistake that I made, and every other tour allowed me to change my booking except this one so they kept my $50 and asked me to buy a whole new ticket for $50 even though they have room available and are easily able to exchange this.
My husband and I did this activity a few days ago while staying in Bordeaux and were really looking forward to it. Unfortunately we were disappointed with the event. Things started badly as we turned up at the address at 5.22pm for a 5.30pm start. The information stated to ring the doorbell so we did. There was a man in the restaurant who came to the door & we explained we were there for the wine & cheese tasting and he asked why we hadn’t tried to open the door. We explained that we were following the instructions & he then told us we were a few minutes early so could wait outside or come in if we wanted to. Not really feeling welcome but as it was very cold outside we went in, along with another couple & seated ourselves. A further couple was expected but as they didn’t show up the tasting event started. The guy didn’t even introduce himself to us or ask anything about us or where we were from. He started off by showing us a map of France and asking us a few questions about our wine knowledge of the Bordeaux region. As he was talking to us, 2 other guys came in who obviously work at the restaurant, and proceeded to make themselves cups of coffee so that the information we were trying to listen to was drowned out by the grinding of coffee beans. The 3rd couple eventually turned up half way through the session which made things a bit disjointed as the information had to be repeated for them. Then we booked the tasting promised tasting of 3 wines; a white, red & sweet wine. We were only given 2 wines to try, a white and a red. We were given 10 tiny slivers of cheese with a brief introduction to them & then left to ourselves. The visit to the cheese cellar at the end was probably the highlight of the night. Overall we left the venue disappointed - we did not feel that this was value for money & the ‘host’ was very disinterested in us & what he was doing. We could have done better if we had bought the wine & cheese ourselves as any knowledge imparted was extremely basic to say the least. We would not recommend this activity to anyone.
I was hoping for some more explanation on the wines and cheese but it was all very quick. Actual event did not last more than an hour
The most amazing, friendly staff were very accommodating and full of stories. Was a very intimate tasting but the cheese and wine combinations were perfection. Would definitely recommend it!
Amazing and delicious!! Really had a great time! Wines and cheese delicious and very well explained by our delightful host!
I couldn’t attend as my phone broke and I had no way of making contact with either Viator or the guide! Sadly disappointed! 😕
Our host was so great, taught us tons of stuff and we had a great time! Super fun highly recommend- check out the cheese cave absolutely! Very tasty and informative!
Very enjoyable experience! Learned a lot not only about different wines and different cheeses, but how to pair them as well. Very knowledgeable host and great venue!
This was an amazing experience! The host of the restaurant was so friendly, gracious , and knowledgeable. He served us delicious cheese and fabulous wine. The pairings were perfect. He invited us to visit his cheese cellar, which we did and it was vey informative.
I really enjoyed the class. Ben was very knowledgeable and interesting to listen too. The class covers 9 different cheeses, paired with 3 different wine. The cheese cave downstairs is impressive. If your into your wine and cheese I Would thoroughly recommend this class.
The tour guide was really good, she did the hole trip! We where very happy with the day and the winemakers that we visit.
When you book a "cheese and wine tasting experience" you normally expect the experience to include some information, provided in an interesting and entertaining format. We were offered the cheeses and wines and more or less left to get on with it ourselves. We could have done this at home so we were very unimpressed with the value provided.
Host was stressed and distracted. Very little attention given, set up was good, 9 pieces of cheese and 3 small glasses of wine were tasty.
I had a fantastic wine and cheese tasting. The host was so friendly, funny, and knowledgeable. He provided context of everything we were trying but left us on our own to enjoy and taste. Please note that you get a lot of cheese - I had wished I didn’t eat breakfast before coming!
Amazing experience if you want a truly authentic Bordeaux wine and cheese immersion. Great wine and cheese pairing done by sommelier
The host is a very nice guy, patient to explain all about the wine and cheese we tasted. This is recommended. Good wine and cheese!
When in Bordeaux, the most yummy fun for an early evening. You will enjoy and learn a lot. It was early enough for our first day as we wanted an early evening. Best surprise ever. I highly recommend.
Was quite disappointed with this experience. I had the expectation that the experience would be educational and that we would be learning about the different wine and cheese regions of France. However this was really just a pairing of different cheeses and being asked if we liked the cheese with a wine. We enjoyed the other people that we were seated with, which really saved the experience. Otherwise, this experience could have been completely replicated at any restaurant by ordering a cheese board. Did not feel that this was worth the money, and would not recommend this to anyone that is capable of ordering a cheese tray and glass of wine at a restaurant.
Every bite of cheese was better than the last, and all were better than any cheese any of us have ever tasted. The wine was very good and our host was delightful and funny. I can't recommend this enough, visit any way you can: Baud et Millet, 19 Rue Huguerie, Bordeaux. If you are cruising, as we are, this is the perfect excursion. It's an easy walk from the port, and I use a mobility walker, and it's under two hours. Forget the expensive and crowded cruise tours, find something off-beat and interesting; check out Viator for many great options.
If you know a little bit wine and cheese, this tour is not for you. It is very basic tour Good variety of cheese but not of wine
Don't arrive early for the 1130 tour as the door will be locked until 1125! For the most part, we enjoyed the tasting although, we found it lacking in some areas. When we arrived, we were invited to go downstairs to look at the cheeses which are behind a glass wall and that is all you could do was look. ..not very interesting as it took maybe a minute. We then waited for 4 more people who were quite friendly and engaging about travel and wines and "stuff"....they really made for a good experience. The host was a fun guy ...really he was....and brought out a plate with 3 cheeses on it to which we passed the plate around taking our share. He did explain the cheese somewhat and what region they came from He explained the wine although, it would have been nice to see the bottle. Then came another plate with 3 cheeses and another bottle of wine ....and the portions were not all that generous. Same thing....a little about the cheese and the wine. Then came the last course with 3 cheeses and wine. After serving the cheese and pouring the wine and a brief talk about them, the host went about other business and didn't come back until he noticed the food/drink was gone. The front of the place was a restaurant where he went to take care of customers and didn't spend as much time with us as I thought he would. I guess my problem was that it would had been nice to have a printout of the cheeses and the wine as there was a couple cheeses that were truly interesting. What wine was paired with the cheese would have been nice to have as well although not so much as the cheeses. Now, I don't know what they were so it would have been good to have a printout of some sort. Our tour mates were very engaging and we had a great conversation about lots of things and that made for a good experience. If there was just the wine/cheese and not company to enjoy the event, we would not have enjoyed it at all I think. The wine and cheeses were good but I wish I knew more about them. I do not think this was good value.
Enjoyed tasting the 9 different cheeses.. one glass of wine with three different cheeses for each tasting.
Seeing the cheese cellar . Seeing the enthusiasm of our guide. Maybe a little bit expensive for the amount of cheese and wine we were given
Lively and entertaining host, great crack, wine and cheese were fabulous. Well worth a visit. A hidden little gem.
Delicious cheeses and wine paired with this. The map and class provided the perfect way to begin our tour of the many wineries of the region. Forgot to pull out the bread he mentioned - enough cheese to make up for this. Educational and overall a good experience.
We were a group of 4 girls and had a great time at the cheese and wine tasting event. The host (James Bond!) was thoroughly entertaining and the choice of cheeses with lovely bread was so extensive we didn’t need lunch. The venue was perfect and would definitely recommend if you want to have a bit of fun, food and wine while in Bordeaux.
The guide was super knowledgeable about the wines and cheeses. He was funny and kind!! Would definitely recomend. And will come back next time I come to Bordeaux!!
Nice experience tasting French wines and cheeses. Our guide was very knowledgeable. I had no idea about the number of different cheeses available in France. Excellent value.
One of the best things we did in Bordeaux!!!! 100% recommend!! The guy who gave us the explanations was super nice and super funny!! We had an amazing time!!
