Bordeaux Evening Food Tour With A Sommelier

The host was amazing. He is the owner/operator. But, he genuinely cared about each person. We learned a lot on the tour. It was not only about sampling the food and wine but also about where the wine was produced, why the wine came from each region, what made it special, why the food was special (award-winning), etc. We also got a tour of the city and what each section was noted for. The tour was relaxed, informative and delicious. This is a definite recommend.

Aurelien provided a unique experience through wine tasting and food pairing. We were exposed to foods and wines that may not be first of mind when a person thinks of Bordeaux (AKA white wine). The variety of foods and wines were excellent and would definitely recommend being a part of this tour!

The wine tour was really lovely with amazing views of the city. We enjoyed a wide variety of local food and wines and were told of many local places and what ones to watch out for while being given information about Bordeaux. I highly recommend his service and recommend the experience. We even got to play a fun game at identifying smells from wine components. A highlight for a trip for sure

Wonderful tour! We got to sample so many local wines and dishes. You know it’s going to be great if you’re with a sommelier! And wow did he amaze us! So much knowledge about the wines and the regions. He was also very funny and entertaining, and flexible (we had 2 people in the tour who only ate fish but that was no problem- he arranged for other dishes). We loved the little game that we played while waiting for the food. And it was nice to go to the local family owned places to try food and wine. The wine we tried was fabulous. We even went back to one of the wine bars after the tour to buy a bottle of one that he showed us. Overall it was a highlight of our trip and we had a great time!

As we walked through the city, we not only tasted excellent food and wine but also gained a deeper understanding of the region’s culinary traditions and wine heritage and tried out hands at sommelier”ing”. The tour was very informative without ever feeling overwhelming, striking a great balance between education and enjoyment. Each stop offered high-quality selections, and it was clear that a lot of thought had gone into curating the experience. Overall, Rory did an outstanding job, and we truly had a great time. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone looking to explore Bordeaux through its food, wine, and a little bit of history.

Warm, passionate, and incredibly knowledgeable, they led us through Bordeaux’s historic center, weaving in stories of the city’s culinary traditions, its wine heritage, and its role as a cultural crossroads of France. We wandered through cobblestone streets and charming squares, stopping at artisanal bakeries, cheese shops, and family-run épiceries that had been around for generations. Highlights included melt-in-your-mouth canélés, a local pastry with a caramelized crust and custardy center, and decadent foie gras served with fig jam and warm, crusty bread. We sampled local charcuterie and a variety of cheeses—from creamy brie to pungent blue—all perfectly complemented by small pours of Bordeaux reds and whites throughout the journey. But this tour wasn’t just about the food—it was about atmosphere. The Culinary Tour was great for many reasons! The Guide Aurelian includes discussion of history as we stopped at monuments. The food was delicious (especially the artisan cheese, wow!). Also when I told him a few days earlier that my husband Preferred not to be tasting, traditional pate, the Guide customized the tour to include a fantastic tin fish shop instead. He was so kind and friendly.

Aurélien was a fantastic guide. He took us to visit some superb places to eat and drink (and see the city's central monuments), in addition to telling us a bit of history about Bordeaux and giving us a mini-lesson on wine tasting. A "must" to start a visit to Bordeaux and its surroundings (afterward, we were much more solid for touring the vineyards properly, haha!)

As a regular on food tours I can say that this one is the best I have ever done! I chose this tour to show friends who didn't know Bordeaux in an original way and everyone was won over!
