Mercure Bordeaux Cite Mondiale Centre Ville

Disappointing Stay Stayed at the Mercure Mondiale Centre-Ville Bordeaux hotel. We had chosen this hotel for its highly acclaimed; rooftop bar, breakfast area and views across the city. We were extremely disappointed to discover upon arrival that these amenities were temporarily closed for refurbishment and further upsetting that the hotel failed or let alone attempt to update their website nor to contact us or any other guests prior to arrival.. Adding to our disappointment was the noticeable strong aroma of fresh paint that spread throughout the hotel. The strong paint smell made it rather challenging for a restful sleep. It would have been comforting had the hotel taken sufficient measures to mitigate the impact of the paint odor on guests comfort. The newly renovated rooms were also another letdown. The ambiance was dark, dim and created an atmosphere reminiscent of a basement rather than a welcoming accommodation. The craftsmanship appeared very poor, with noticeable signs of rushed workmanship. Am not even sure why they missed the toilet roll holder and the wall mirror which was left on the floor While I acknowledge that hotel renovations are a necessary part of maintaining quality standards; effective communication and minimizing disruptions are paramount. Unfortunately, the Mercure hotel fell short on all counts. I do hope that the management will take this feedback constructively and make improvements to their communication strategies and service quality going forward… Additionally, we did send an email to HQ on the above, but yet to receive any response or acknowledgement from their end. This lack of communication further compounded the frustration and disappointment… I must mention that the hotel staff members were polite and helpful throughout our stay, which was a silver lining amidst the overall underwhelming poor experience…

As of May 2023, this hotel is being renovated. Some areas had strong paint smell. Construction started in the room next to ours at 8:00 am, making it impossible to enjoy our room after that time. The restaurant was closed. The staff were very accommodating, tried very hard to make the experience the best it could be. The location is really great!

We were very pleased with this hotel and the restaurant Le Parvis. We stayed for 7 days and the staff were very nice to us. They were especially helpful in guiding us to places to visit and eat. The room was clean and the view was nice. The morning breakfast on the 7th floor was exceptional and the view of the harbor is stunning. Not just the view but the variety of food and fruit and pastry. Also, the restaurant and hotel staff all spoke English which is very helpful for us tourists and so friendly. The location is close to every part of central Bordeaux worth visiting and also close to many restaurants. The restaurant food is very good and we were able to enjoy eating at the tables outside or taking our meals to our room after a day of touring. We thought the price was very reasonable and we would definitely recommend this hotel to others. It is a favorite with tourists and business travelers.

I was greeted by a wonderful receptionist! I have never seen such friendliness and disposition. After spending the day walking the streets of Bordeaux, he was the 1st person I met who spoke English! And even better, she is Italian and I was able to practice a little of my grandparents' language with her, who gave me valuable tips on tours, restaurants, Christmas markets, etc. The room is great, very clean and very quiet. It was very cost-effective. I actually found it very cheap for what is offered. It is worth mentioning that the hotel team accepted the postponement of my trip, which was scheduled for August (but at the time I was unable to travel due to health reasons). I highly recommend it!!!
