Reef Discovery Private Half Day Lagoon Tour

We had a wonderful tour with Reef Discovery and would absolutely recommend the private option. We are experienced snorkelers and swimmers and it was so nice to be able to choose our own pace and how long we spent at each stop. The stops are all pre-determined so it wasn't as flexible as I had hoped but we saw everything we wanted and more. The highlight was the coral garden- the most spectacular snorkeling we've ever experienced and not to be missed. It was especially special as due to some great timing, we had it all to ourselves for at least an hour. The tour was very expensive compared with other tours we took on this trip but lines up with Bora Bora pricing and was worth the splurge. Reef Discovery are clearly good stewards of the marine life and we were giving instructions at each stop of how and how not to interact with or interfere with mantas and other species, which is always appreciated.

This is the 2nd time we've used this company in Bora Bora. Our guide, Fabien picked us up directly beside where the cruise tender boats docked, so it was all very easy. We had a spectacular tour, 4 hours of sightseeing, snorkelling and learning about the island, coral reefs and wildlife. We swam with reef sharks, sting rays, saw an amazing coral garden with soooo many fish, and then Fabien spotted a manta ray that we got to swim with too. I would highly recommend that you use this company for any of their tours, we look forward to doing so again in the not too distant future.

We joined this whale watching tour for two days and had an absolutely wonderful experience. First of all, we were deeply impressed by the warm hospitality and friendliness of all the staff. Above all, we were touched by the guiding that showed such deep respect and love for the whales. On the second day, we had the chance to swim with whales and see a mother and calf up close — an unforgettable experience that moved us deeply. At the end of the tour, the staff played the ukulele and sang, which created a truly memorable and heartwarming moment. We also appreciated that one of the guides spoke a little Japanese and kindly talked to us in our language — it made us feel very welcome. We are truly grateful for everyone’s hospitality and warm hearts. We highly recommend this tour to anyone!

Fabian and Mana were wonderful guides for my husband and I's morning whale watching tour. We chose the private boat because we hoped to have an easier time getting in and out of the water if we were able to snorkel with the whales. Luckily for us, we were! We got to snorkel with Le Chanteur and hear the songs of the solo male humpback, which was enchanting and something we'll remember forever! Additionally, at the end of our tour, we stumbled upon a mother, calf and escort, and were able to quickly jump in the water with them as well! My understanding is that the shared tour that went out at the same time was unable to do this because of the amount of people that would have to get suited up to snorkel would take too long and the whales would have already moved by then! This is why we will always recommend anyone to book a private tour!! You won't be disappointed!

Mana is an incredible Captain, and we had a truly amazing experience! He took us to the best spots and we snorkeled with eagle rays, a manta ray, black tip reef sharks and hundreds of colorful fish! It exceeded our expectations and was a day we will never forget! Thank you Mana!

I had a 2-hour private tour with Pierre and were able to swim with manta rays, sharks and Eagle rays! We went go to spots where there were no other boats and had a great mini tour of the beautiful Bora Bora lagoon. I have been on a couple of Reef Discovery Bora Bora tours already and highly recommend this! Perhaps a 3-hour tour would be best since the lagoon has so much to offer, but 2 hours was awesome.

Fabulous. We went on 2 half day excursions with Reef Discovery. The 1st was a group your with 2 other couples. The 2nd was a private. Both captained by Kevin. The group tour was amazing. The private was simply one of the best excursions we experienced on Bora Bora. Mantas, sharks, rays, spotted eagles, fish, coral, eels. What else is there? Kevin might be the best guide in all of Bora Bora. He guided us through each snorkel session, found interesting hard to find see life, and provided commentary.

We loved it! Picked up by Pierre on time at our resort's dock. 4 different spots to snorkel and a tour of the complete island for dessert! Pierre took his time with me, a less experienced snorkeler, to provide a perfect experience. We saw all manner of fish, coral, and eagle rays and manta rays. Pierre has a good eye for spotting rays. And because it was private, we could go places other bigger tours could not. Worth the price, in my humble opinion.

We took a half-day private tour with Pierre. We saw reef sharks, many manta rays, the coral garden, and a place called the aquarium with thousands of fish. Pierre was a wonderful guide. This excursion is well worth the money. We highly recommend it.

On Sunday (November 12), my wife and I went on a half-day private snorkeling tour with Pierrre of Reef Discovery departing from the Four Seasons Bora Bora. Pierre was amazing - Friendly, helpful and knowledgable. It was such a great afternoon and truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience (although we hope/plan to do it again next year). We went to three amazing snorkeling locations within the lagoon of Bora Bora - We had already snorkled with the sharks and sting rays earlier in the week so Pierre excellently took us, per our request, to amazing locations to see the most beautiful coral, colorful and numerous fish and the the amazing manta ray. Overall, an amazing experience, an amazing way to spend an afternoon and with an incredible guide who made the entire experience, from beginning to end, a true please. The highest recommendation and thank you to Pierre, Reef Discovery and the Four Seasons Hotel and staff!!

We cannot say enough phenomenal things about this tour!! We saw a pod of more than 50 spinner dolphins playing in the wakes of the boat. Had never seen them before during our 3 trips to Bora Bora. On the way back from our snorkeling spot they were waiting to play again for us:)) One of the highlights of this trip!! FABIEN is an excellent tour guide who has extensive knowledge about the marine biology of the lagoon. We snorkeled in new areas that had colorful coral and unique tropical fish we had never seen in all of our previous snorkeling trips (at least 12 times). We even snorkeled on the outside of the reef in 45 ft. of water at the outer edge of a coral garden. We will rebook this tour every year for our annual trip to paradise!!!!

Our family (which includes teenagers) absolutely loved this tour. The length of time, the convenience, the amazing scenery and water made this the perfect morning. I would have said snorkeling is not my favorite activity, but this tour completely changed my mind. Our 15 and 17 year olds loved it too! Our guide Mana was a complete pleasure and we felt like family by the end of the 3 hours. He explained to us how he fishes with children and how they prepare dinner together to enjoy with friends and family. It was a very special way to spend the morning and one that should not be missed.

This private tour was absolutely amazing!! Our tour guide Aero was the best, he made sure we were always good and really tried his best to make sure we had a great experience. He taught us a lot and showed us beautiful corals and so many fish that we’ve never seen before. Not only was he eager to find the rays and tell us when to get in but he also helped a group next to us and made sure they were safe. He helped us take go pro footage that honestly we will remember for the rest of our life. He was the best guide we could ask for, he provided cold drinks and really great snacks. He made my girlfriend a purse out of palm leaves in front of us. This was an incredible experience and I urge any one who has the chance to do it 1000000/5 stars if I could!!!

Our half-day private morning snorkeling trip exceeded our expectations. Arrow (not sure of spelling) was an outstanding guide- he worked so hard to ensure we saw everything on our bucket list and gave us a little lesson on history, culture, and marine biology to boot. We had multiple stops and saw so many varieties of fish including clown fish, large star fish, sea horses, and spotted eagle rays. He provided a nice treat of fruit and really delicious coconut bread and even made a little purse for me from palm fronds! I especially appreciated the way he checked on me to be sure I could handle the current and getting in and out of the boat. He even helped several older couples near us who were struggling to get back into their dingy. Thank you for an amazing experience!

Fabien picked us up from our hotel and we had an absolutely wonderful time. He was friendly, knowledgeable and our group cannot recommend him enough. He took us to several great spots to see manta rays, eagle rays, tons of fish and even a coral paradise. He supplied towels, water (in recyclable bottles-a plus!) and soft drinks. He pointed out local spots and even took photos. A wonderful experience.

What an absolutely amazing experience! We had the best time on our tour and saw beautiful exclusive spots around the lagoon and swam with sharks and manta rays and discovered incredible coral reefs! Our guide Fabien was the best ever! So knowledgable about the area and found us the best spots while they were quiet! We did a private half day snorkel tour with Reef Discovery and it was the best experience. Our guide was excellent and knew exactly where the rays were. In fact, he stopped a few times to help other boats locate the rays. We saw manta rays, eagle rays and all sorts of other fish. My only regret is not signing up for the full day tour with the lunch on the beach. We were starving after all that snorkeling, but then our guide whipped out the most delicious coconut bread and fruit plate. It was such a fun day! Thank you Reef Discovery!

My husband and I had a wonderful afternoon with Reef Discovery! We swam with mantas and stingrays, explored the coral garden, and learned about the history of Bora Bora. Highly recommend the private half day tour! Favorite activity during our time in French Polynesia!

This was probably the best snorkeling my wife and I have ever experienced. We have snorkeled in several places in Hawaii, the Caribbean and Mexico but this was hands down the most interesting and beautiful. The guide was fantastic and the small group setting allowed for a faster boat which meant more time in the water and less travel time. Highly recommend!

Amazing experience for the entire family (kids 6 & 10). Fabien was incredible! He got in the water with us and pointed out tons of things. He was great with the kids and tons of fun for us all. Swimming with sharks, swimming thru schools of fish, exploring old ship wrecks, amazing! The scenery and experience is something we will never forget. Thank you so much for an incredible adventure!

I really wish I could give a higher rating than 5 because Reef Discovery deserves it. Where to start, this is our second time to Bora Bora, each time keeps getting better. My wife and I booked the private half-day tour, it was amazing. our tour guide Aro was simply outstanding, he took the time to come on his day off and give us the most amazing tour we have had. We did 4 stops, Manta Rays, Coral Gardens, Eagle Rays, and another Coral Garden. Aro took his time to give us a very proud history of Bora Bora and was a wealth of knowledge and just an amazing person to get to know. I really can't say enough of how great this tour was, it was one of the highlights of our trip. The boat was amazing, so easy to get in and out of when snorkeling. My wife and I went on a half-day snorkeling tour with 6 other guests from the Four Seasons on April 30. Our guide was Wilson: super nice, very knowledgeable and with amazing skills on how to steer the boat while looking for manta rays and others (you’ll see what I mean if you go on a tour with him ;) ). We had four stops including a coral garden, place with black tip reef sharks, sting rays and other fish etc. The trip was absolutely great. This place is paradise and the tour is a must if you want to experience the lagoon around the Bora Bora island.

Our family of five, ages 7 to 74 took a private half day snorkeling tour with our guide Fabien. It was the best snorkeling trip we've ever been on. Fabien was great with the 7 year old and really looked after the rest of us and kept us entertained. The boat was very nice, fast, and comfortable. He took us to all the best spots for rays, sharks, and countless fish of all types. We snorkeled until we were worn out so then he provided soft drinks and snacks and he took us around the entire mainland and showed us the island from the water perspective. He was very accommodating. We highly recommend this company.

We booked a half day Lagoon Snorkeling Tour for our family of four, which ended up being a private trip with our wonderful guide William. We started the day in search of spotted eagle rays. Lucky enough we hopped in the water and glided along side them. Next stop - the big event - snorkeling with Manta Rays. This was a highlight of our trip to French Polynesia. We were lucky that the visibility was excellent and there were many rays gliding about. It was magical. My kids were hooked on snorkeling. We finished the trip with a stop at the coral gardens. I have been scuba diving all over the world and this was one of my most favorite spots in the world. If you are going to Bora, then don't miss a day on the lagoon. William was a wonderful guide. You could tell he loved his job and his enthusiasm for the underwater sea life made our experience even more enjoyable. Don't hesitate to sign up for this tour before you head out on your trip!

We had an amazing and memorable snorkeling experience on my birthday. Our awesome guide, Fabian picked us up at St. Regis at 8:30am. He took us first to see Manta-Ray which was moving around magnificently. Fabien was very calm, patient, and helpful to my partner who got nervous and panicked with deep water snorkeling. Fabien then took us to different snorkeling locations to show amazing underwater world, coral gardens where I closely saw the star-fish, sea cucumber, and an aquarium of fish that were all around us. He went below to point out several fish and sea-life and then he would come up to explain. To give me confidence and to let me know that I can snorkel on my own, he did let go off my hand at one point and that gave me tremendous confidence and joy. That lesson and confidence would stay with me for the rest of my life. Fabien was very knowledgeable and informative both about the lagoon and underwater world. We just love such knowledgeable tours. I am very grateful to Fabien; a great guide who taught me with tremendous empathy and patience, and gave me confidence and joy for the rest of my life to be enthusiastic to snorkel. What an amazing birthday!! The best birthday ever. Thank you, Fabien for the memorable experience. We were blessed to get Fabien as our guide.

William our guide was amazing. He was very informative and he knew all the best spots. I have done snorkeling before but it has never been like this. The coral, the fish, the manta and eagle rays all just amazing. Absolutely one to remember.

My wife and I booked this private half day snorkel tour on our first day here and absolutely loved it!! We saw manta, shark, stingray, and more fish than we could ever capture. Fabien was an incredible guide and found all the best locations. He spent 3.5 hours with us showing us everything we could have ever hoped for and more!

Fantastic! My guide/captain was great. He spoke excellent English and taught me a lot about the geology and animal life in the reef. Within 5 minutes in the water we saw a manta ray that hung around for a long time. We also saw dolphins, 16 spotted eagle rays, and an amazing coral garden. The boat was very comfortable. We were provided drinks, towels, and gear. It was a perfect day.

We had an awesome private excursion with Aro. He showed us amazing sea life, beautiful coral gardens, and told great stories about the land and his family. We searched for mantas which seemed elusive for a while, but Aro’s experience pulled us through. The stingrays and sharks were a perfect end to a great day. My wife was hesitant to get into the water at first, but Aro put her mind at ease, and she enjoyed it every bit as much as I did. We would do this again in a heartbeat. Had an amazing trip with Fabien. He knew all of the right spots and we were able to spot manta rays, eagle rays, reef sharks, and the aquarium. Fabien knew a ton about the area and made the excursion extremely enjoyable. He helped us take a number of amazing photos that made the trip even more memorable.

My husband and I booked this tour last minute on our last few hours in Bora Bora. We couldn't have gotten luckier with a guide! Fabien was AMAZING!!! He was so knowledgeable and he was so great at showing us around the sites we went to. He even took a ton of pictures of us with our GoPro and got some amazing footage of the wildlife. If we go back we will do our best to book with Fabien!

Wonderful initiation to Bora Bora’s pristine lagoon. Fabien made sure we saw everything nature had to offer and was super knowledgeable about the marine life. He truly cared about our experience and preserving the integrity his special secret reef. We saw everything: from the elusive Manta Ray, to every coral and fish native to the lagoon and Fabien wouldn’t give up until we saw Eagle rays. The wait was worthwhile as we ended seeing a fever of 32 eagle rays!! Money well spent and an experience we will never forget!

Did the private 1/2 day lagoon tour. Fabian our captain was awesome. Boat was super clean, included non-alcoholic beverages. The coconut bread was to die for. So good, trying to get the recipe. Fabian showed us multiple terrific snorkeling sites where we saw eagle rays, manta rays, white tip shark and a huge moray eel. Other spots had lots of fish and coral to see. They will come and pick you up at your hotel dock on the moth. Highly recommend.

We booked a private tour with pick up at our resort. Our first day with our guide Fabien was so fantastic, we booked the next day and then the next! Each day got better and better culminating in an incredible whale encounter. You will enjoy Fabien's humor as a young Frenchman as well as his knowledge of the marine environment. We had an amazing time today on our lagoon tour with Fabien. He made sure we were able to see everything we wanted to and made sure we had a different experience from yesterday since we did another tour the day before with another company. We were able to get a close look at many manta and eagle rays. We saw beautiful fish and eels at the coral gardens as well as black tip shark. Fabien even has an underwater microphone so you can listen to whales sing if they are in the area. We finished the day with light snacks and pictures in the stunning water. I would highly recommend this tour and be sure to request Fabien!!

We did an incredible tour with Diego, visiting several points always looking for the best view of marine life. We had many explanations about all aspects of what we were visiting, the importance of taking care of the local marine life, we explored the places visited and saw rays, corals, morays and a great diversity of fish. Everything was perfect.

Our experience was incredible especially thanks to Arthur ! He was very careful and adapt himself to the people he had in front of him ! It was such a pleasure to discover the lagoon and new spots through the eyes of a marine biologist. Arthur’s knowledge was indeed detailed yet clear, which made the tour even more interactive and interesting! It was a pleasure to share this tour with someone who has such a respectful attitude towards nature and sea life, making us realise about our impact ! I highly recommend him.

This company is amazing and be sure to ask for Fabien as your captain! He knows the best snorkel places and makes sure you see what is important to you. His knowledge and experience can not be beat! He even pulled my wife around while snorkeling in the shallow places so she could just relax and look at everything instead of being worried about hitting the coral. Our private snorkeling lagoon tour was the highlight of our trip to French Polynesia. The boat was spotless, guide could not have been better, and the snorkeling was amazing. Rays of all kinds, sharks, coral, and literally thousands of rainbow-hued fish. A perfect day in paradise and the intimate nature of the private tour was worth every penny.

On November 14, 2019, we booked a trip with Pure Snorkeling. The guide Yael, is a cheerful and skilled navigator.. He demonstrated outstanding dedication to his job. He made sure we all see the underwater world, in-spite of the fact that some of us were not good swimmers. We highly recommend Pure Snorkeling and Yael, for a snorkeling tour in Bora Bora.
