We had an amazing lagoon fishing trip with Moana Adventure Tours and can't recommend it enough. Our captain was fantastic — knowledgeable, friendly, and clearly knew all the best spots on the lagoon. Within no time we were reeling in fish, including a barracuda and a long nose emperor, among several others! Beyond the great fishing, just being out on Bora Bora's stunning turquoise water made the day special. Everything was well organized from start to finish, and the crew made sure we had a wonderful time. If you're visiting Bora Bora and want a fun, authentic fishing experience, book with Moana Adventure Tours. Five stars — we'd do it again in a heartbeat!

Lagoon fishing in Bora Bora is a passion as well as a lifestyle in French Polynesia. You will see this passion reflected in scenes of daily life as freshly caught fish is sold all along the roadside, and offered at every restaurant and local snack stop around the island. This private, 4 HR tour is for beginner or advanced levels of fishermen. The calm waters of Bora Bora’s lagoon will allow you to fish quietly and privately with the skilled assistance of our guides. Our local guides love to share their knowledge and experience, as well as the richness that the Polynesian waters have to offer. Let us show you the best spots to fish in Bora Bora. The most popular lagoon fish to catch are generally jack fish, rainbow fish and lagoon bonito.

My husband and I booked this private fishing experience and it was so much fun! We not only fished, but our guide showed us different aspects of the island of Bora Bora as we sailed around. He also pointed out sea turtles and sting rays as he saw them. We got to go a bit into the ocean and attempt to fish for larger fish. Although we were unsuccessful, we got to see a local try and harpoon a mahi mahi which was SO COOL! Definitely worth booking and it was so special to spend that time with just my husband (& the guide).
We had a great time on our private fishing trip through the lagoon with Sam. We may not have caught a ton of fish but that's what happens with fishing. Sometimes you catch a lot sometimes none at all. Our first catch was done while trolling and we were shocked at how fast we caught one as we were not even 30 minutes into the trip. The second 2 were smaller and happened in spurts but it was still a relaxing enjoyable trip. Sam was amazing as he told us history about the island and how it was made, as well as explained things about how the schools work and houses are built. We learned a lot of history from him and he kept the whole trip enjoyable. We are not a huge fan of eating fish so we told Sam to take the large one we caught and eat and share with friends which he thanked us for. We truly could not be more happy with our experience and cannot thank Sam enough.
Even with the slow fishing the tour of the island by boat was fantastic. The boat was nice and our guide did not skip any water, we fished it all!
Can't say enough good things about our guide Naki. We split the time on our trip between jigging and popping. We ended up catching way too many fish for us to eat. Naki took us to a shallow area to clean the fish and we were able to get into the water with the rays and sharks as well. Amazing time and delicious fish.

Small boat but we were able to catch 3 nice size fish, a mahi mahi, a tuna and a baracuda I think. My wife got a lil sick on the small boat. We were able to give most of the fish to a local and his family after they cleaned the fish for us.

My father and I went out for a hal-day of deep sea fishing, and it was super fun. We were able to catch a nice pair of yellow fin tuna. The captain knew just where to go and knew a lot about the area.

The boat that showed up for a Deep Sea Fishing tour was a small single engine boat with a sunshade. It was not a boat anyone would want to take out past the reef, especially on a windy day. The swells were 10-12 feet high, and there were no life jackets in sight. The small boat was tossed around like piece of driftwood. After a short frightening interval, the captain suggested we go back to the lagoon. There were 2 fishing rods that had no reels, we were told to wrap the fishing line with our fingers. We caught 3 small fish, 2 of which we kept and had prepared at the restaurant at our hotel for lunch. It was not a professional tour, and I should have waited till I got to Bora Bora to hire a boat that was suitable for deep sea fishing. I think the boat captain had no intention of deep sea fishing and was not prepared to do so. Meanwhile, others in our party rented a suitable boat during the week we were there and caught a 200 lb marlin.

We fished with George and Robert in the lagoon around Bora Bora in a 17' Boston Whaler. The boat had a cover that allowed for shade when we wanted it. We trolled using small squid artificial lures. We caught 4 different types of fish, probably caught 7 fish and enjoyed the guides. The fish were small, but I understand that you need to go outside the barrier reef to catch bigger fish. The weather was nice, but we just wanted to enjoy smaller surf and see the island while fishing. Next time we will go outside the reef.

George and Robert took us to a place where another guide friend they knew was feeding a stingray with man and his wife. There were about 30 small blacktip Sharks swimming around in the shallow water and I got some great underwater shots with my GoPro on a GoPro stick. If you want to catch big fish, go outside the reef. I would use these guides again.

Disappointed that we did not each have a fishing pole. Beautiful day. Pleasant host.

It was wonderful! Bob did a great job brining us around the island where the fish were. My husband got two fish and was really happy with the experience.

We had a wonderful time on the Lagoon fishing trip. We caught 4 fish and then Bob, our captain, jumped from the boat with a speargun and got 3 more. It was awesome. In addition to the great fishing, we were able to sightsee as well. We saw sharks and lots of rays. The resort cooked up our fish for the next couple nights. Delicious!

We chose the lagoon fishing for the calmer waters. The fishing was ok as it wasn't the best time of year. Our guide Bob was great and took us around the entire island, what a great way to see the island. We ended it up with 8 nice size Trevally Jacks. After all, it is fishing and not catching. Fishermen understand that. Thank you for an amazing outing. We would definitely do this again!

Great tour. A shame the weather wasn't great making it hard to catch anything.

A bit more info on the area and what was going on while setting up etc would have been good.

Loved the swim in the lagoon with black tip reef sharks. A shame the boat wasn't prepared with snorkels just in case. A great back up if no fish are biting.

Awesome time - our guide was friendly, knowledgable, and made sure we enjoyed our excursion thoroughly!

Top-notch guides, good mood, laughter, and a private tour. We loved this tour. Thanks to Ruma for the tour, the explanations, and the joy of living. Thanks to Captain T for the coconut stop and for showing us how to open them.
We had the chance to discover the lagoon during a private excursion with Tema, and everything was perfect from start to finish. Between the sharks, the rays, and the beautiful coral garden, we were truly amazed. Tema is a passionate person, very friendly, and knows marine life perfectly. He took the necessary time for us to observe the rays under the best conditions and fully enjoy every moment. The lunch on a private motu with Vai was a real highlight. Thank you for the warm welcome and this delicious meal in a paradise-like setting. An unforgettable experience that we recommend 100%. Thanks again to Tema and Vai for this wonderful day!
