Excellent guide, and basic island tour. Could do less expensive on shore, through touts. Saw what we needed to see.

We enjoyed the tour with Nono! He was on time, so knowledgeable about the area and a great communicator. We saw parts of Bora Bora that we would not be able to find on our own and he was informative about the history, local agriculture, artisans, and culture.
The very friendly personable and highly skilled driver made it a tour to remember. He was aware of the safety of his passengers when navigating the “ road” which gave us memorable views. The tour was well balanced with a roadside stop to appreciate the skilled artisans and provide local refreshments. Heri ensured our tour was a fun, informative and enjoyable experience. I’m a senior solo traveller and loved the afternoon.
Our driver was late, and we had to wait for 45 minutes. Our attempts to contact the company were unsuccessful. The tour itself was very disappointing and absolutely not worth the money, especially if you have a rental car. During the three-hour tour, we simply drove around the island, taking only two detours off the main road. I would estimate that the actual off-road driving amounted to just a few hundred metres. I definitely do not recommend this tour.
Informative, great guide too. He was charismatic and very safety conscious. The walk to the cannons was over a rough surface and lots of rocks but he held my hand to ensure my steps were solid.
We had a great afternoon touring all the sights of Bora Bora with our guide Terai. He arrived promptly at the pier to pick us up as arranged. He had so much knowledge of the island and was a great guide. He even serenaded us on the beach with his ukulele. Highly recommended. Thank you Terai for a fabulous trip . Terry and Janet. Wales UK
Fabulous tour our guide “Nono” was very informative. Highly recommend this tour Right amount of time WW2 stuff really interesting
Our guide (Teria) made the experience awesome! Extremely knowledgeable, proud of his culture and kind. Not to mention crazy talented. He could sing and play the ukulele so beautifully. Loved getting some history and gorgeous views of the island. We can’t wait to come back! Would highly recommend this excursion, great value and a lot of fun.
That it is very very bumpy! I don’t have back or neck issues but if anyone has any differently don’t take this tour! The views are amazing! Also wear good hiking shoes! We didn’t know we were going to be doing this and you don’t want sandals on!
Let me preface this review that my wife and I have been on hundreds of Viator excursions and all were great except this one. Two reasons: first it was boring, we drove up three different steep roads a couple hundred meters each and took in the view. This would be ok for the first but they were all the same. The guide truly makes this type of experience and ours was more comfortable speaking French with the two French speakers. The rest of us (7) got very little explanations. The highlight was to be viewing American artillery guns from WWII. We had to hike pretty far down a path to get to them and frankly not that impressive. Second and more important was safety. The drivers door did not close. He held it closed with his arm. We were traveling up and down steep narrow roads with lots of rocks. If he fell out or was shifted out toward the door he would’ve pulled the steering wheel and we would be off the cliff, same on the roads. He wasn’t wearing a seatbelt either, which would’ve helped in an emergency. We were all sitting in the bed of the truck. I was happy the 3 hours were up and to be dropped off.
No No our tour guide was fantastic!! He told us alot about the history of the island and showed us beautiful sites. He was a great speaker, friendly and very interesting to listen to. I highly recommend this tour and many thanks to our guide No No..for he was just amazing!!!
very informative. Our guide Terae lives his island, and shares this emotion with you. He shows around over steep uphill „roads“ to see the island, the lagoon, and the sea.
Excellent experience. Tour guide was friendly and knowledgeable. Highly recommend this tour.
Very nice half day guided tour around the Bora Bora Island. Interesting information about history, agriculture, local crafts, etc. Our guide Mata Nono was very knowledgable and attentive, speaking excellent english!!!
Hiking down to the cannons and bunker was steep and with my new knee replacements I decided not to hike down.
This was not your normal excursion. We went places were the normal excursion doesn't go to. We saw those little hidden gems on the island.
Great. A lot good viewibg points. Much fun!
We really enjoyed this experience. Nono was such a good tour guide. The hike to the cannons was amazing and we enjoyed learning about the tie dye. Would recommend!
Amazing experience with wonderful sites views from the top. Mana is a great guide explaining the history of places and a very good driver too. I highly recommend this tour
Fun few hours circling the island. Very interactive and professional guide and we stopped at lots of different places. We were provided with bottles of water We had finished by lunch time. I recommend this tour
What a magnificent way to see the island sights, get some knowledgeable culture and history then end up swimming in some of if not the most pristine water ever. We did this from our cruise ship landing in morning and had the best time ever. Must do
My family of 5 including my 89 year old mom really enjoyed the 3 hour 4 X 4 tour with our guide, Mata Nono. He was very energetic, funny, and knowledgeable of the island’s interesting history and culture. He was very accommodating in driving slower over rough terrain for my mom. While other excursions just let their people out for the walk to the cannons unguided, Mata Nono took the time to lead us there, providing information on local history, points of interest, and the variety and uses of foliage. He allowed us as much time as we needed to take pictures and we received cold bottles of water and towels after the walk. Thank you for a memorable and wonderful tour!
Our guide Mana was excellent and accommodating. We had to join the tour late, and Mana took us back to the first stop to give a private recap of what we had missed. Great tour with beautiful vistas, and fantastic service!
Amazing tour around the island with beautiful photo stops and breathtaking views of Mount Otemanu. We also visited local shops selling handmade Polynesian crafts and souvenirs. Another highlight was seeing the American World War II monuments along the way. Our guide was fantastic—friendly, knowledgeable, and made the experience even more enjoyable. A perfect way to experience the island’s natural beauty, culture, and history. Highly recommended!
Kind of a fun trip, but this isn't really off roading, or doing anything special at all. They just use a 4x4 safari style vehicle & take you up 3 little hills for the view & then show you around town a little & that's literally it. We saw 2 old cannons & the tour guide wasn't very talkative or personal.
Had a great, albeit short time with Ta’rei as our driver and guide. There are two main viewpoints that they take you up to for great views around Bora Bora as well as some history (WW II Canons). There is a stop at a local tie dye shop plus a few brief stops for pictures and experience. Overall you get a different perspective of the island compared to the resorts.
This tour was jam packed with amazing views and a cute demonstration. There was about a 10 minute hike that was easy to complete.
Be sure you wear tennis shoes as you will climb a trail to a mountain site to see the cannons and view.. Also you will be blown by the wind in the back of the 4x4. There was little knowledge imparted by a tour guide explaining places and we were delayed starting due to late customers. Overall it was ok.
It was perfect, very interesting stories and beautiful viewpoints. Would recommend it with no hesitation.
Great views of the island. A little walking across uneven ground but worth it. Interesting stories of local culture and customs.
Excellent tour and gracoius guide. Heat made trek to canning difficult but guide provided cool water bottles and assistance as needed.
Our guide was named Freedom. He knew a huge amount of folks on the island as well as had deep knowledge of island history. His family has lived here for generations. One of the best tours I have been on in a long time. Freedom stopped the 4x4 many many times to point out historic cal sites, views, talk about WW2 history - bunkers, ports, roads, etc. would certainly recommend.
The operator was 30 minutes late with no communication, which was frustrating. We went long which was okay with our schedule, but could have been an issue. We did enjoy the beauty of the island, and the guide was so-so, not bad, not great.
This tour involves some hiking, so if you have trouble hiking on ruff terrain for 15 minutes or so you won’t like this one. We had several stops and one was a gift shop outdoor market by locals. It was very hot on the day we went.
Excellent experience. Splendid view of the bora bora island. We gone to several spots to view the lagoon and mountain.
Our driver Nono was amazing he explained everything well and to us to some unique places where there were no other tourists. Also places that the US Military set up before WWI. Great service and great driver!!
Mana was an absolutely incredible tour guide and truly made our Bora Bora experience unforgettable. He showed us so much more than just the views — he brought the island’s culture to life. We learned about local traditions, history, and daily life in such a fascinating and authentic way. One of the highlights was trying the original stevia plant straight from the woods — such a cool and unique experience! He also took us to an extraordinary viewpoint overlooking the city that was breathtaking. Along the way, Mana recommended amazing local foods and shared stories about his culture that made everything feel so personal and meaningful. Our favorite stop was seeing the World War II cannons. It’s about a 15-minute hike, but completely worth it for the history and the views. What made the day even more special was meeting so many locals — Mana seems to know everyone! His friends generously shared fresh guavas, avocados, and mangos with us, which made the experience feel warm, genuine, and full of fun. This tour was fun, educational, and full of heart. If you want a real, local, unforgettable Bora Bora experience — Mana is your guy! 🌺✨
Our guide was so enthusiastic and engaged! We went to several off-road, high view points offering wonderful panoramic views. You sit on padded benches in the back of a 4X4 truck. Beware that the inclines are steep and bump going up and down.
I absolutely loved my tour of the island with Nono, who sacrificed his Sunday off to drive me. He noted my interest in culture, history and biology, so took great care to point out all the different kinds of fruit and trees, take me to the best lookout points and also to the Marae on Bora Bora. He is a very good driver, very knowledgeable and communicates well in both English and French. Overall, an awesome experience...which I highly recommend!
The tour circled the entire island with various stops along the way. Seating was in the covered rear of a 4WD truck. Capacity is 8 passengers. The 4WD was definitely needed as we went to 2 elevated locations. One was to a WWII gun emplacement. The 40 min. Round trip path to the gun was VERY rocky and uneven. Remain at the truck if you have any walking difficulties. The other elevated stop was a flat location high above the ocean overlooking the bay where the cruise ship was located. Overall, a great trip.
The tour goes right round the island and up several mountain viewpoints. Several interesting stops along the way including a number of WW2 sites. The tour guide (Mana) was a great host and knew all the places to go to. He spoke very good English and is fluent in French and his native language. Highly recommended.
We enjoyed this tour a lot. There were more stops than we expected, the guides were very nice and taught us a lot about the island and the history of the Polynesian people. They provided a cold bottle of water which wasn't in the description. Highly recommend the tour.
Nono was our driver and guide. I cannot say enough good things about him and his attention to detail. He was well versed in the islands history and provided us a visual with shells which helped us to understand how the other islands came about and familial relationships. Before heading back up a hill, he provided cold water and once we were back in the 4 wheeler, he provided us with cold washcloths to help cool us down. Additionally our next stop, a sarong store, had fresh island grapefruit, bananas and coconut. Exactly what our bodies needed! The trip was very informative and interesting. I would highly recommend this excursion and for the best experience ask for Nono!!
The trucks are very safe, they even had seat belts in the back. Reasonably easy to get in and out of the truck. This tour took us to many more places than our friends on other tours. It was really worth it! The guides were pleasant and shared a lot of info about the area and culture.
We had a fantastic experience on this island tour in Bora Bora. The company did a really great job from start to finish. We traveled around the island in a 4×4 pickup truck with bench seating in the back—comfortably padded, covered, and equipped with seatbelts, which made the ride both fun and secure. We were traveling in December, and it was very hot and humid, so being in an open-air pickup made a big difference. We actually caught a nice breeze while driving, which helped keep things comfortable. The route took us up into the mountains with several well-timed stops along the way. At each stop, the guide clearly explained what we were seeing and shared helpful context about the island and the surrounding motus. I took the English-language tour, and everything was very clear and easy to understand. The views were absolutely stunning—lush mountains, sweeping vistas, and those unreal shades of blue Bora Bora is famous for. The photos don’t do the beauty justice. I’d highly recommend this tour if you want to see the island beyond the beach and get a deeper appreciation for its landscape.
I didn’t feel our driver/guide had his heart in the tour. We saw the highlights and wished I had done a snorkelling tour instead. Or at the least had a swim in the beautiful blue seas.
The driver Here was very nice. There is not a lot to see on Bora Bora. It would have been better to have been told more of the history of the island. If we asked a question he knew the answer. He could have shared more without us asking him.
It was exciting and fascinating to see a more rugged part of the island. Of course the water and beaches are incredibly beautiful, but this experience allowed me to see something different. Moana was my driver and guide. He was lovely and kind. The sunset from a top one of the highest points was spectacular. I would recommend to anyone who wants a little more adventure, just be prepared for lots of roller coaster type bumps!
My friend and I really enjoyed this excursion. Mana was our guide. He was friendly and very informative. Highly recommend!
Excellent tour which circumnavigated the island plenty of stops along the way, Mana our driver / guide was informative and passionate about his country.
