This was an amazing sunset cruise! Our guides Tehere and Hermana were awesome and made the cruise so much fun! We cruised around the island and then stopped for the sunset where they served us fruit and champagne and we took a ton of pictures. Then they drop you right off at the restaurant for dinner right on the ocean. This tour is worth every penny!

Itinerary
Start a wonderful evening with your loved one and treat yourselves to the delight of a two hours romantic sunset cruise followed by a delicious dinner at the renowned St James restaurant. Start the evening aboard a traditional Polynesian outrigger canoe, gliding smoothly along Bora Bora coral reefs watching the sun set over the island's lagoon. On the sunset cruise, you could be joined by a maximum of five other couples aboard the Polynesian outrigger canoe. After sunset, you will be taken to the refined St James Restaurant, where your private table has been booked. The restaurant is located in Vaitape, overlooking the lagoon and provides great views and an intimate yet relaxed ambience. If you are staying at a hotel on Bora Bora's main island, your return transfer to your hotel has been pre-arranged. If you are staying at a resort that is not located on the main island, you must organise this with your hotel.
Enjoy your romantic dinner on a nice Restaurant close to the lagoon

It was canceled due to weather. Conditions beyond anyone’s control. Maybe next time we will do the tour
The tour company contacted me the day before stating, “we have upgraded your booking to a CAP Camarat instead of the polynesian outrigger canoe.” They picked us up in a tiny Jeanneau CAP Camarat 7.5 that had absolutely no protection from the weather. Definitely not an upgrade. Luckily, although we hit some light rain the captain was able to skirt around the worst of it. Unfortunately, because of the tiny size of the boat and the choppiness of the water we ended up soaking wet from spray over the gunnels. The captain did swing by the company dock to pick up some towels but by then it was too late. My wife started getting deathly sea sick and we had to head straight to the restaurant. It was a quite overcast so there wasn’t much of a sunset. The restaurant was wonderful, the view beautiful, and the food was excellent. Unfortunately, because of her seasickness, my wife could not hold anything down and we ended up leaving before dessert. The romantic evening I planned was anything but.
This tour is not worth the price. The sunset cruise was basically just picking up other guests for the excursion. And while it was nice to be out on the water, there was no music or guide information, history or anything. The boat drove around for a couple of hours like this and then we stopped for a few minutes for sunset. The dinner at st James was equally disappointing. But the biggest problem with this tour is that they don’t provide transportation back to your hotel unless you’re on the main island. We had arranged for a shuttle back at our own expense but had to be at the dock by 9pm at the latest for the last shuttle. Dinner was progressing fine and we were done eating by 7:30. But for some reason, our server would not provide our check. She kept going from other tables but wouldn’t look at us and we could not get her attention. ($500 did not include a beverage.) Finally I went up to the host stand and asked if she could call our taxi but she informed me they would not come until 8:30. I had to insist they call the taxi early because I was concerned we would not make it in time for the 9pm final shuttle to our hotel. She was clearly irritated at this request and not very kind but they did call the taxi, and we did arrive on time. I feel an excursion of this price should include full transportation both ways. This caused a lot of stress that made it hard to enjoy our evening. I do not recommend this tour.
Nice boat and the host was friendly. Had a nice ride around the best parts of the island. I wasn’t super fond of the prolonged stop at one spot in the direct sun. Would have preferred a brief stop and then move on. Dinner at St James was fabulous. On deck overlooking the water and gorgeous sunset. Food was excellent! Pretty pricey, but that’s French Polynesia.
Champagne toast on the water overlooking the sunset was beautiful. Dinner was amazing and great atmosphere.
Our sunset cruise began with a pickup at our hotel, exactly on time. We shared a small boat cruise with just one other couple which was very nice. The captain gave a nice tour of the bora bora lagoon showing us many stunning sights. Fruits and beverages were provided. We watched the beautiful sunset while toasting with champagne. After sunset we were dropped off at the restaurant St. James where we had an incredible dinner, waterside. Transportation back to our hotel was also easy. Highly recommend.
The cruise was a bit soggy the day we went. The host adapted well, and broke out the drinks and snacks early to accommodate. The three other couples on the tour were a lot of fun. We had great conversation and made the best of the weather. Fortunately, the sun broke through the clouds right before sunset giving us not just great pictures, but also a nice rainbow. Then the dinner was very good. The atmosphere was perfect, right on the water. Between the three of us, we tried all the different menu options. All were good, though the baked brie was our favorite. We also tried all the mocktails. The Virgin St. James was the best in our opinion. We would definitely recommend this tour.
We had booked this months in advance for a romantic excursion for our honeymoon in Bora Bora. We were immediately messaged that they would pick us up at our hotel (which was on a motu). I had been watching the weather everyday in Bora Bora. I understand that it can change quickly day-by-day, but our day was cloudy all day and extremely windy. So there goes our sunset view. I had hoped that they would message me the day of to offer a cancellation and refund as we would not see a sunset (which was 1/2 the reason of booking this). They did not, which is very disappointing considering this was an expensive activity (~ $230/person). So, we watched…clouds. On a very windy, cold day. Also, on the day of the activity, we realized that they offered only round trip transport of the main island, which made things very confusing. So while we had a boat ride to our restaurant (which was delicious), we had to scramble to call our hotel for a ride back to the hotel from their main island camp (which costed us an extra $20). There needs to be more clarification that in the description as many people are staying in resorts on a motu. Only two pros to this event: we had lovely conversations with the only other couple on this activity, and Saint James restaurant was amazing and delicious. However, we could have just gone to dinner Saint James have paid less than 1/2 the cost of this activity (with more food options as we could only two dishes each 3 courses). Overall, absolutely would NOT recommend this unless they allow weather dependent cancellation <24 hours and they clarify more on transportation to AND from the activities.
Wonderful time, boat crew exactly where to go for the spectacular sunset. Dinner was delicious and the setting could not have been better.
Sunset cruise and dinner were phenomenal! Pick up at the resort was easy and the boat ride allowed us to see a large portion of the island. Dinner was delicious!
We were scheduled for the sunset cruise and dinner but sadly it rained earlier in the day and the cruise was cancelled by the operator. The evening actually turned out to be beautiful and calm so we made our own way St James Restaurant and had a wonderful dinner!
We had a great time. Dinner at St James was really good just wish we had more than just two dinner options.
We had a small group of three couples. We only could have fit two more. The boat was very nice and smooth with the outrigger. The scenery was beautiful and the dinner was excellent!
Enjoyed the boat ride to watch sunset, boat captain was excellent, I booked tour 3 days prior, 10 people on tour everyone was seated on water keeping with romantic theme. We were the only not allowed waterfront seat even after bring to managers attention. Being peolple of color this is very concerning. We are world travelers and really never expect this especially in a place like Bora Bora. I am a requesting a full refund for the esbarassment with my spouse. All the fellow travelers are eating now. So disappointing.,, Shame on you Jean Baptiste..,
Lovely boat cruise with some live ukulele. Great photo opportunities, saw some rays and the drop off at the restaurant was cool. Lovely restaurant, delicious food.
Nice way to spend a few late afternoon hours on the water; the boat Captain made it very entertaining. Dinner was excellent!
This was a fine time but I would say not worth the money. We got picked up very early and ended up waiting around at a number of hotels for other people to board. The first third of the trip I felt like I was on a taxi. The second third we sat around in the Middle of the ocean just waiting to kind of see the start or the sunset … because we were picked up so early. Then, finally, we were dropped at the restaurant. The restaurant was nice and we had a good water view.
We do not recommend this. While this is a SUNSET cruise, if it’s cloudy, they will not cancel the cruise and you will not see the sunset - which is the entire point of the cruise. We circled the same areas where the sunset usually is seen even though there was nothing to see. We circled the same two sting rays for a solid 20 minutes. If you’re at the St. Regis you’re the first pickup so expect to be on the boat for 3 hours not 2. If you’re at the Conrad you’re the last pickup so expect to not be picked up on time. They drop you off into the bar of the St. James literally at people’s tables where they’re eating. So if you’re expecting a nice restaurant (which for the price of this excursion you should be) the St. James is a sub par bar with table cloths. As we got off the boat into the already seated tables they were lighting up cigarettes and blowing smoke at us. They do not tell you ahead of time but there is a fixed menu for this excursion. Not only was there one, but then they didn’t even have everything offered on our fixed menu. If you’d like anything other than water it is not included. Overall, it’s not a worthwhile excursion EVEN if there would have been a sunset. You can go to a restaurant on site at your resort and watch the sunset from there, likely for significantly less money.
A couple of the things we loved about the tour was the tour guide singing and playing an instrument as well as the amazing sunset pictures we were able to take. The two hour tour before dinner while lovely, is too long. It should be shortened to 60 minutes. 90 minutes max. The dinner at St. James was amazing and a perfect ending to the night. Everyone associated with this tour was extremely nice and made it a night we won’t soon forget.
The sunset cruise was so relaxing, and the guide was so knowledgeable and friendly. The St. James is very charming with delicious food.
Rose at the Tiara Restaurant Nisgara-on-the-lake was very helpful and made our dinner very enjoyable. Food was very tasty
I just finished this excursion. It took almost two hours to pick up folks. Once everyone was on the boat, they took us to different parts of the island. Some places they gave history other they did not. St. James Restaurant disgusting. Not worth $530. Not by far. Disappointed in this excursion.
Great experience and great food. The manager at the restaurant went above and beyond for us. We will definitely return. The boat ride was great. Really enjoyed ourselves. Definitely recommend.
Beautiful experience. With a cup of wine amd romantic life local music. A must if you are visiting this heaven on earth. We felt bonded between ocean and sunset. Thanks
Great experience. We are staying at the St Regis. This was perfect way to get off the hotel property to see a Bora Bora sunset from a different part of the island and catch a delicious dinner. Lot of bang for buck when you throw in the included transfer back to hotel, snack and beverages.
Our tour guides were awesome, they made it enjoyable even with a cloudy sky and no sunset. The St James Restaurant was incredible. My husband and I would definitely book again!!
To small of boat, very slow and poor dining service and poor quality food. Had to leave before even eating much just to catch return ferry they were so slow.
Boat came 1.5 hours late. Never made the cruise. Want refund. Thank you. Better communication is needed.
Great evening! Highly recommend. Dinner at St James was fantastic! A very nice way to see the island.
The sunset cruise was great, but our dinner at st James was not, the steaks we had were tough and chewy, the service there was outstanding, the gave us sincere apologies and compensated us for the bad steaks though
The sunset cruise portion was nice. 2-1/2 hours on the water with 3 other couples slowly circling the island until sunset when they dropped us off at the St James restaurant for dinner. Dinner at the St James was terrible - a real disaster from the start. On this tour you only a choice of two entrees, a fish or beef. The beef was downright inedible. It was full of fat and gristle. Out of the whole piece, I could only get two bites and very chewy ones at that. The service was at a snail’s pace. It took two hours to get our starter and entree. Then, we had to rush out of there carrying our deserts with us in order to get our taxi back.
Visiting Bora Bora is an opportunity of a lifetime! The crew, Manu and Malaki, were so amazing. They were so professional, and to top it off, just amazing singers! The company even confirmed pick up time the day before and the cruise was so worth it! It's definitely a "MUST DO" when you are in Bora Bora. Mauruuru to the entire crew for an unforgettable experience...
Beautiful sunset cruise. Our guide was excellent. Took us to various locations and was great at pointing out the different marine life throughout the cruise (Sharks and Eagle Rays). My wife and I enjoyed the champagne and the delicious fruits. Lastly, our dinner at St James was great. Friendly staff and stunning views. It was only us and another couple which also made it such a private event. It was a very romantic evening.
We had an amazing time on this cruise. Our tour guide was great and sang and played the ukelele beautifully!! Dinner was wonderful as well!
The tour was absolutely amazing. The guy was very friendly and knowledgeable. There isn’t enough to say about the views and the location is incredibly breathtaking. Simply beyond words. The food at the restaurant was also amazing and the transportation back was reliable, very friendly and helpful. And absolutely amazing experience with me and my wife on our honeymoon in Bora-Bora.
This was one of our favourite activities, so romantic a must for couples, our guide was amazing I can’t remember his name but he took a picture with us. The dinner at St James was absolutely incredible I can’t recommend that restaurant enough
We were greeted by a friendly and enthusiastic team! When arriving on the boat we were offered the local beer. One of the team sang whilst we set sail telling us interesting facts about the islands. The team were great fun and made our time super enjoyable. They even sang Happy Birthday! Champagne and fruit was provided during sunset. It's a super romantic cruise, and definietly recommend for all couples! The dinner at St.James was delicious and had AMAZING cocktails!
The cruise was s mooth and pleasant. We got to see some areas where the movie with Marlo Brando was filmed. The bost pulled right up to the dock of St. James. The food and service was very good and it was a memorable experience for out last night on Bora Bora. The restaurant had a cab waiting for us to take us to the dock so we could catch the boat back to the Conrad Hotel.
This promised to be a wonder 34th anniversary night. The collection from our hotel was prompt, skipper handed us sealed tray of fruit which remained sealed. He was to take us on a sunset cruise but due to his fear of rain we were taken to port and stood under a canopy for 40mins where he cracked open one bottle of fiz for 8 to share. After some time one of the passengers suggested we should get back onto the water as it had not rained a drop so he got us on board and took us to St James cafe we were there roughly 70mins ahead of time. He said we would not be able to disembark. In reality we could have sailed along the shoreline and he could have made this a more interesting spell for us but his engine was off and we were made to wait. We disembarked at approximately 18:30 and we’re shown to tables at the back of the restaurant well away from the shoreline and when we protested were told those closer tables had been reserved by other patrons. We protested further and the reluctant manager then put us at the front with ocean view. Service was good the menu was set with 2 options of starter main and dessert. The return was to be by taxi and we were told there were two pick up times either 19:30 ( 1hr after we arrived) or 21:00. Both times not ideal. We chose the later only to find in reality it was for the convenience of the restaurant so they could put as many people into the minibus as possible. It was a short drive to the port (le Bora Bora) and a short sail across to the hotel. All in all a £415 night that was worth a generous £200 for two. P.s the so called reservations at the St James restaurant were a NO SHOW.
This was a total disappointment for us. I was on the fence booking this, but we went for it anyways. We didn’t really “cruise” the lagoon, we just waited by the town and the restaurant for it to open while the tour guide was on the phone. Even though there wasn’t a sunset (due to weather), at least the guide could have driven around. He also barely spoke English and didn’t really even try. The restaurant tired to sit us in the back and saved the best tables for other customers. This backfired and no one showed up, so they finally moved us. The fixed menu wasn’t that great and the steak was cold and fatty. This place is either over hyped or the fixed menu that the tour provides wasn’t that good. I normally don’t complain, but they denied even a partial refund so I wouldn’t take my chances if I were looking at a tour like this again.
Dinner was excellent. However the cruise was awful. The boat operator stopped the boat and had us disembark as there was a chance of rain. Had to watch sunset from restaurant. Very disappointing
It was good ok but for the price I was expecting more. A bigger boat & music would of made a better cruise. Boat was little n couldn’t move around. And at the restaurant the seating wasn’t what I was expecting sat us in the back n had the first row for sunset reserved for other ppl who came after us.
Best sunset cruise ever. Nice staff and the dinner was wonderful.. Nice sunset, saw turtles 🐢 while eating dinner. Just a beautiful scenery..
The views aboard the boat we amazing! We actually saw a rainbow! Dinner at the ST James was delicious
The Captain and his brother were a great crew They played the ukulele and drums and sang. It was great. We saw a beautiful rainbow in front of the prominent mountain. We were served fruit, snacks, drinks and champagne. We had a brief shower but no one seemed to mind. Very good experience. Well done!!
The Tour guide and his brother were amazing. Very knowledgeable and gave lots of information and fun times through out the whole time. Really enjoyed it.
We had a fantastic experience. We saw numerous spinner dolphins, Flying fish and many other unique fish. Then a meal and sunset that so great it would be difficult to describe. The food was top quality with a sophisticated wine list. The tour guides were very helpful and knew the area quite well. They sang traditional Bora Bora songs which again was great. A must do in Bora Bora.
Terrible tour; one of the worst I've done in my many years of traveling the globe. Before I provide details, I want to be clear that the poor rating is about the Sunset Tour--this is not a review of the St. James restaurant, which if I reviewed on its own would get 4/5 stars (very good food and service, if not a bit smokey from cigarette smoke depending on where you sit). The tour is not worth your time or your money. There are so many incredible views in Bora Bora, and we were out on the water for hours, and yet all we did was basically drive around in circles for a few hours in one general area while waiting for the sun to go down, in one of the least inspiring areas where the views aren't particularly stunning. That, in and of itself, wasn't the main issue. If while sitting around and going in circles we listened to music, or learned interesting cultural or historical facts about bora bora, or EVEN sat in silence, it would have been better than what we had in actuality. There were two hosts on the boat, both of whom were pleasant enough people, but they talked to each other incessantly throughout the tour. Listening to two buddies conversing non-stop during a tour that's supposed to be romantic was about the least appealing thing the hosts could have done. Beyond that, the snacks were Ritz crackers, cheese puffs, beer, and soft drinks, which were fine, but for a tour that expensive isn't commensurate with what one would expect. And the champagne came at the very end, which we lamented given we don't drink beer, and we needed something to take the edge off during the world's most noisy, boring "romantic tour." I will also note that the boat itself isn't ideal--it's quite tight in between seats and the boat motor seemed to stop twice. Once, someone came in on a jet ski to fix the motor, and as we were making our way to the St. James, they had to try starting the motor a few times. Ultimately, everything worked, but it doesn't inspire confidence. Finally, I will note that the included transportation from the St. James back was extremely disappointing. We needed to go back to the InterContinental Le Moana, and we finished about 45 minutes before the expected departure time (8pm, I think). They told us they couldn't get us individual transportation at that time, and that we had to wait until other guests from our tour finished. Fair enough, since we were all on the same tour and another couple was going back to Le Moana just like we were. But what was really shocking is that when we all went to get the cab the restaurant (or tour operators) had arranged for us, they stuck an entirely random family of 4 in our cab (this family neither participated on the tour or was going back to our hotel--they stayed at an AirBnB). So basically either the restaurant, cab driver, or tour operators are pocketing extra money by sticking us all in the same cab. Normally I wouldn't care about such things, except that not all the cab's seatbelts worked, so stuffing the family in meant that some had to go without working seatbelts, and with covid on the rise it just meant more of a risk the car was backed to the brim with people. I would tell my friends under no circumstance should they do this tour. If the restaurant itself weren't so decent, I would easily give this tour 1 star with no qualms. But if you insist on eating at St. James, find another way.
The sunset over the water was spectacular! Our guides played ukulele and everyone sang along. It was a great time. Dinner was good. I am vegan and they had made appropriate arrangements. Would recommend this experience.
