Sam was amazing guide and he was before time to pick us up. It was a rough day at the lagoon and water was very choppy but he took extra care to take us to a spot where we saw a bunch of fish including black tip shark and sting ray. He even made me kiss the sting ray:) He took us to another spot where he spotted a couple of Mantra Ray, and made us jump and look for them up and close. Finally he showed us the coral garden and took my husband holding his hand as the current was high and showers him around. Highly recommend him and his company.
I have to start by saying our tour guide, Sam, is an absolute gem. If it were possible I would give him 10 STARS!!! Sam is the most friendly, knowledgeable and passionate guide I’ve ever met. He knew exactly where to take us, and at what time so we could get the most out of our tour. Our first stop we swam with sharks and sting rays, which was pretty amazing, but it didn’t stop there. Sam took us to a different location and we were able to swim with DOZENS of Eagle Rays, an amazing added bonus. From there we headed to our third stop, and were greeted by two, unbelievably large and majestic Manta Rays-something I wasn’t expecting or even aware was an option. Lastly he took us to the Coral Garden where we ended our tour navigating the reef system and taking in all the color and beauty of the delicate ecosystem. The tour was well worth the investment, credit to Sam. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this tour!!!!
Fabulous experience. Pick up and drop off prompt. Gorgeous day and amazing snorkeling. Guide Mamara was very helpful and informative. Would give six stars!
Had an incredible time on this tour - Sam was an amazing host who was very friendly & took us to the best spots, where we got to see manta rays, swim amongst colorful fish, coral & bright blue/purple/green/yellow clams, and alongside black tipped sharks and stingrays. He even gave us the opportunity to touch and kiss (for good luck) the stingray! Communication before the excursion was great, and the dropoff/pickup from our hotel was very smooth. Highly recommend - especially the morning timeslot when conditions are the best!
We awoke to pouring rain and when I called the tour company the lady kindly told us we could either rebook or have a full refund but to wait until 8am and make a decision. The sun came out and Sam picked us up at the St. Regis dock on time. We had 3 stops including rays, sharks and manta rays (our fav) and coral/fish. Sam was an incredible guide and we got so lucky with him. He knew where to go and when. Bring your own gear, booties for the coral areas and lots of sunscreen. Such a memorable day!
Wonderful experience. Saw plenty of sharks and sting ray and a beautiful coral reef! Even got to see an octopus!
Very nice experience and nice staff! I went alone and was afraid that I am not good at swimming but the guide provided lots of help! The coral garden was amazing and it was cool to see sharks and rays. Highly recommended! (Though still if you are a good swimmer you could enjoy more! Also check out the wind situation or so since I could see the experience could be quite different due to the weather)
Pick up location and time was given a few days prior. We then went on the water and into the beautiful waters of the lagoon under clear instructions, to protect the corals and ourselves from injures. We stopped 2/3 times to spot the rays, sharks and see the coral garden. Plenty of time was given for snorkelling around. The team on board was very friendly and knowledgeable about marine life and the history of the islands. If you are short on time, definitely worth the detour. I had a great time.
My husband and I had an incredible experience with Moana Adventure Tours, and Tia was absolutely awesome! He was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and took such great care of everyone on the tour. We especially enjoyed his company and the great conversations we had about Polynesian culture and the efforts being made to preserve the natural beauty of Bora Bora. You could tell how much he genuinely cares about the island and sharing it with visitors. What I appreciated most was the balance Tia gave us between guidance and freedom. He made us feel completely safe and comfortable swimming with the blacktip reef sharks, while also giving us plenty of space and time to explore on our own. The reef was the most beautiful reef I have ever seen in my life — truly unforgettable. This was easily one of the highlights of our trip to Bora Bora. If you're considering a snorkeling tour, definitely book this one — and definitely request Tia! We couldn't recommend him enough. 🌺🐠🦈
Sam is amazing! He is super knowledgeable, outgoing and accommodating. He communicated perfectly and went out of his way to make us feel special and share his amazing home. We loved how proud and protective he is of his islands
If you’re visiting Bora Bora, touring and snorkeling the lagoon with Alex Miliani is an absolute must! Alex is incredibly knowledgeable about the local marine life and reef ecosystem, delivering facts with so much charm, humor, and enthusiasm. What impressed us most was his deep respect for the ocean - the tour is genuinely eco-focused, prioritizing the protection of the coral and wildlife while making sure everyone feels safe and well cared for. Warm, entertaining, and top-tier at what he does. Māuruuru roa, Alex, for an amazing day! Highly recommend to anyone visiting!
Alex, our guide, was enthusiastic, multilingual and very knowledgeable. Our tour was well ahead of other tour boats, so we enjoyed an almost private experience with the sharks and rays, and a beautiful manta ray. He took us to a coral garden near the edge of the reef, again, alone to explore a very pristine area. Alex finished the morning with some history and a quick trip outside of the reef. Most enjoyable and I would highly recommend this tour.
We had the most wonderful afternoon with our guide Alex Miliani from Moana Adventure Tours. Alex was informative, funny and passionate about his beautiful adopted home. The snorkeling was amazing. It was a privilege to see the sharks and rays up close and all the other marine life and the coral garden.
We had a great time on our snorkeling trip to see the black tip sharks. Our guide was great gave us information about the local area that was very interesting as well. They picked us up and dropped us off at our hotel too!
Amazing experience, super clear water, tons of sharks and rays
We had a 2 1/2 hour snorkel trip. There were a total of seven of us in a small covered boat with an outboard motor. Very basic. Our captain and guide was Alex Miliani . He was excellent. He provided interesting information including island history. He took us to a coral garden, after seeing the sharks and manta rays, just off our hotel. It was near the outer reef. It was an exceptional coral experience. Tons of colorful clams. One of the best snorkel experiences I’ve ever had. The water was warm, the coral was abundant, the waters was not deep so you could stop and stand on a sand patch if you needed. It was really incredible. Again, Alex was excellent and the second best part of the tour. Highly recommend.
Tema is very knowledgeable, great with people and considerate. He helped two Korean guests on our ten person boat by getting in the water and pulling a float so they could feel secure and view the fish. He is informative and easy to talk to. We came away from the two snorkeling sites feeling it was outstanding value for money. Tema is the best guide and an asset to the company.
Best ray experience ever, due to the presence of a manta ray in the lagoon! She made the entire trip! Oh, and the sharks were so close you could almost touch them!
What an incredible experience with Moana Adventure Tours! We saw manta rays, eagle rays, stingrays, sharks and dolphins—an absolute highlight of our trip! Jean was an amazing guide: welcoming, funny, friendly and professional. He made the whole experience so much fun. Highly recommend Moana Adventure Tours—5 stars! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Alex was a delight and very passionate about and respectful of the ocean, the creatures in it and the culture of Bora Bora/French Polynesia. The experience itself was breathtaking as you swim amongst the beautiful sharks, rays and reef fish. Highly recommend this tour. Good luck for January Alex!
Alex was a phenomenal guide—he sincerely cares about the long time well being of his home. Motoring slowly along the shallows, he told us “the boat has insurance, but the coral reefs don’t.” We were headed to pick up the last of our crew (there would be 9 total) when we were lucky to come across many dolphins swimming around us, jumping out of the water right next to our boat! We went to a “cleaning station” where fish clean off the manta ray in a symbiotic relationship, then to a shallow area where we saw tons of sting rays, brown tip sharks, and countless fish, and finally to a coral garden where we were the only boat of tourists. I would say this 1/2 day excursion was one of the highlights of our 6 days in Bora Bora.
Best snorkel ever the manta rays were amazing . The sharks were incredible. Probably the best tour I have been on ever nui and mats were the guides they had so much knowledge. The coral was so colourful and so much live coastal and clams. Best trip o have ever done
We had a wonderful experience with Alex and Moana Adventure Tours. It was also incredibly convenient that Alex picked us up right at our hotel, even though we were staying on the other side of the island. Alex shared some really interesting facts about Bora Bora along the way, and you could tell how much he genuinely loves and respects the ocean. Seeing the sharks and stingrays up close was incredible, but actually getting into the water and swimming with them was the highlight for me. It was something I had always wanted to do and definitely a bucket list experience I will never forget. Thank you, Alex, for making our time on the water so memorable!
Great , A+++++ , we saw so many sharks, loved it . The driver was cool and nice , very professional.
A really worthwhile activity with rays, reef shark and snokeling on the reef. The guide was insightful and witty. Great views of Bora Bora.
We had an amazing experience. Totally worth the money. First stop swimming with stingrays and eagle rays. Followd them around, really awesome. Second stop shallow water swim with small sharks. Thrilling. Last stop coral gardens. Absolutely beautiful. Our guide was amazing. Everything was timely and well organized. Love it and recommend it!!!
Wow 10/10 experience. Two snorkel locations. The first had 3-5 black tipped fin sharks and 2-3 rays. They came super close to us. The highlight for me was the second stop at the coral gardens. It felt criminal that we could swim so close to the coral arrangements that look straight out of an aquarium. Some of the fish, clams, and coral were neon colored! The boat drivers were fun, happy, and genuinely seemed to be having a great time showing us around. Loved this memorable experience. We did bring our own snorkel gear from our resort. They did have some communal ones available.
This was me and my mom’s favorite excursion we did the entirety of our two weeks in French Polynesia. We booked this tour through a Windstar Cruise, and it was everything the description promised and more! To start off, we saw numerous black tips sharks and stingrays, countless beautiful fish and coral, and even bonus dolphins and a sea turtle! Our three tour guides, Epineson, Alex, and Cyril, made sure we were well informed on safety practices (especially since there was a stronger current) and how to ethically interact with the wildlife. Alex in particular was very humorous and knowledgeable, and he even got in the water at one point and taught my mom and I about the different fish swimming around us. We learned a lot about the marine life and living in Bora Bora, and we had so much fun seeing so many bucket list creatures! This was a 10/10 tour, and I would recommend it in a heartbeat.
Alex and Coco were the perfect guides, Alex provided great history of the area and was very helpful for novice snorkelers
Our Eco Snorkeling Tour with Alex and Ruumi (sp?) was amazing. They were both so kind. Even though the trip is non refundable, we were supposed to go Wednesday morning, but my husband got food poisoning on Tuesday night, and there wasn’t enough time to re-schedule, so we went to the dock, willing to go but asked if they could reschedule so we could feel 100% and enjoy it, and they did it, which was so kind. When we went the following day, they were so nice and informative. They made the tour so much fun, and we saw lots of sharks, stingrays, and fish. 10/10 recommend! Personally, the length of time was perfect too, and I would not have wanted to do anything longer.
The tour and experience diving with rays and sharks was absolutely surreal. The guide was great with helping everyone have the best time possible - even helping people who weren't great swimmers - and knew all the best tricks to attract the sharks and rays.
The guide was very cool and you definitely get to swim with sharks and stingrays. Looking forward to going again when we come back.
Not a lot of frills, but you won’t miss them because the snorkeling is so good. I’ve been on snorkel cruises on catamarans with 30 or more guests, where you all end up in a tight crowd of life jackets and flippers, fighting to glimpse a few parrotfish or a lone sea turtle. This tour is on a small boat with maybe 10-ish people max, so you have plenty of elbow room in the water to make your own way (and no cumbersome life jacket required). The two locations are unbeatable — a close encounter with dozens of sharks and rays, followed by a meander through a coral labyrinth of more colorful lagoon-dwelling species than I could count. Absolutely spectacular. On the boat between the two spots, we circled some spinner dolphins jumping in the surf. And later our diver and guide serenaded us with ukulele and singing before the return trip.
The reef Was impressive and love the ocean and feeling on a boat. The staffs were very friendly and guided me through the reefs. It was the first time that I love snorkeling. If you like snorkeling you mist do it in bora bora
We booked this tour through a Paul Gaugin cruise. It provided the experience of snorkeling with rays and black tip sharks-not the black tip reef sharks that tend to eat you. The water is crystal clear and shallow enough for most people to stand on the sandy bottom. Snorkel masks provide underwater views, snorkels and fins are not necessary. The guide actually pets and kisses the rays. You can touch them if you desire and they come close enough to you. Do not approach them or seem aggressive as they do have stingers in their tails and you do not want to deal with that. Remember Steve Irwin, The sharks come close , but you do not touch them or appear aggressive as they are predators, just the smaller version of the ones outside of the lagoon. Underwater cameras or phones in protective cases work well, and the water clarity actually allows good pictures from above the water. The trip includes going past over water bungalow developments and to another shallow area where a floating snack is provided and more rays cruise by, including right between your legs.
Short and sweet excursion. First stop was in shallow water to snorkel with black tip sharks and sting rays. Second stop was to a nearby coral garden that had amazing coral and diverse marine life. Excursion lasted about 2 hours
Amazing jet ski tour around the island with fantastic tour guide! Boat pick up was on time from our resort.
The weather was not pleasant on the day of our tour, but c'est la vie. Vincent and Temere were very fun and knowledgeable. Vincent explained things to us in both English and French! I felt like I got a full tour of Bora bora They made us feel welcomed! The snorkling spot was gorgeous! Highly recommend coming here for a great snorkeling experience!
Most amazing experience. Love and Tema were great captains and guides! We were in good hands and saw a Manta Ray too!
Best experience ever captain T was phenomenal and a great captain
We enjoyed our snorkeling excursion. We were able to see Manta rays, sharks and various fish at the coral garden. Even an octopus! Our guide was friendly and helpful and we didn’t feel rushed. There were snorkels available for use, but would recommend that you bring your own if possible. Highly recommend!
We had a great time snorkeling. We were able to see sharks, sting rays, fish, and even an eel. The tour guy was charismatic and made the tour very comfortable. The boat picked us up from the Westin dock. The boat was a plain boat with no markings but the tour guy had a tshirt on that said Moana Adventures. We brought our own snorkeling equipment but the tour guide had some available on the boat. Overall, we would recommend this experience.
touch the stingray is amazing activity, and snorkeling with the shark is so nice, but watch out the coral,it's easy be hurt you
The staff were very kind and accommodating. We had a wonderful trip with Tane (apologies if not correct spelling). Saw many beautiful fish at coral gardens, a huge manta ray, and enjoyed swimming with sharks and rays.
I was just hoping to see one or two sharks. We saw a manta ray that got almost close enough to touch (one guy on another tour tried to dive down closer and was swiftly grabbed by his guide). Then we saw about 50 eagle rays migrating together. Then we saw four sharks and maybe five or six stingrays constantly swimming around us for half an hour. It was the coolest snorkeling experience. Guide was great. Pick up and drop off at the hotel were great. I’d do this again every time.
We had the best time on our tour with Laurent and Tehere as our captain and co-captain. We saw manta rays and learnt a lot about Bora through the tour, and as we were on the tour with other people, we got to see different places where people stayed. Our stops for the day included: - Manta ray area - Shark area - Coral garden (with the "Love <3 Bora Bora" sign done by/for divers) We had lot of fun on the day and after spending two weeks in French Polynesia, this tour is among our top 3!
This eco snorkel tour was easily one of the highlights of our trip. Captain Sam and our guide Sandro were fantastic—friendly, professional, and right on time. They made the entire experience smooth and enjoyable from start to finish, while also sharing helpful and interesting information about the marine life and environment. We were lucky enough to see manta rays, sting rays, and even sharks up close, which was absolutely unforgettable. One of the best parts was when Sam guided us on a swim through a coral garden. The corals were vibrant and healthy, and there were so many beautiful fish all around us—it felt like swimming in an aquarium. Overall, this tour struck the perfect balance between adventure and education. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a memorable and eco-conscious snorkeling experience.
We did the Deluxe 6hour Bora Bora Lagoon Tour with Motu BBQ with Sam on a Traditional Polynesian Canoe! This was such an amazing trip! Sam took us to all the good spots and got to swim with sharks, stings rays and the coral and fish were so beautiful to swim around with! Sam was awesome and the Food, The Motu BBQ was the best meal we had on our Bora bora trip! We wanted to go back again just for that Motu BBQ! We recommend Sam 100%. You will have best adventure and best food!!
We looked for manta rays but couldn't find them. We went to another spot and saw a stingray, several colorful fish and blacktip sharks. Then, we went to the Coral garden-it was like swimming in a fish tank. We had a wonderful time.
