Our absolute favorite tour! Riccardo was the absolute best tour guide we had the entire trip. He was funny, knowledgeable, and passionate about food which we loved. We had the best food, wine, and gelato on this tour and learned a lot about the history of the food in Bologna. He also gave us a great recommendation for dinner which I had one of the best pastas of our trip. We left with our stomachs full, our minds enriched, and laughter that filled our souls. Thank you! 🙏🏽❤️ I would highly recommend this tour if you’re looking for an exceptional time, company, and of course food!

Great time on this food tour with Delicious Bologna! Good choices for selection of Bologna's most loved food.
Simply the best. Book this one far in advance to get the dates you want, it does book up and for good reason! Small groups and a passionate, kind, personable guide who makes sure everyone has a great experience. I had the best lasagna of my life on this food tour, and some of the best gelato in Italy. Our guide Mattia helped review our list of restaurants we wanted to try after the tour and let us know which ones he recommended. Thanks to him, we had nothing but amazing meals during our stay in Bologna.
A wonderful tour - delicious treats while learning interesting information about the city. Small group so you can hear everything. We saw large tours where people were trying to hear and keep up and felt lucky to be on this one instead!
Wonderful guide, small group, valuable information about Bologna, delicious food!! Highly recommend to get a feel for the city center and the foods specific to the region.
Fantastic food tour of Bologna! A wonderful way to discover the city, its history, and incredible food traditions. Everything was delicious, and the experience was fun, informative, and authentic. One of the highlights of our visit to Bologna. Highly recommend!
My husband and I have done many food tours in different cities and this was one of, if not the best. A combination of a knowledgable local (thanks Mattia!) who made the tour not only fun but interesting, great food and places chosen that a visitor to the city would not know about. Happy to recommend this tour to anyone.
Matteo was great! Knowledgeable, personable and fun. We had excellent food and a great time exploring the Bologna food scene.
If you’re going to Bologna, you MUST do this food tour! It was the perfect combination of amazing food, drinks, and a tour of Bologna, with great stories along the way. Mattia’s passion for this city shines through in every part of the experience. We got to try so many of the foods that make Bologna special, and by the end, I was absolutely full and felt like I’d truly experienced the city like a local. Highly recommend!
A wonderful experience with a knowledgeable and entertaining host!
I have been on the food tour three times in the past six months. Mattia is a fantastic guide who truly loves Bologna. A bit of history, a bit of walking and a lot of food and drinks.
Absolutely phenomenal tour! Worth every penny. Amazing guide, amazing food, and wonderful fellow group members. It was 4 hours worth of knowledge, delicious food, and just a perfect night out. A MUST do while in Bologna.
Amazing! Ricardo was so knowledgeable and fun and energetic. This is a must do tour on Bologna
I took the small group pasta making class with Sfolina Martina from 12-2:30 pm. It was such a beautiful experience!! Well organized, other pasta makers handy to help provide one-on-one help, and very tasty results! We even had a wonderful chilled Lambrusco from the host salumeria’s label with our three course pasta lunch. Trust me, no dinner needed after this! BRAVA!!!
Certainly there are a few options when it comes to food tours in Bologna, but this is definitely a good one! Mattia was our host and was great. We had many stops including watching how to make tortellini right in front of us...which of course, we ate later. Great food stops, great wine, great people, great atmosphere...great tour overall. Highly recommended.
We had a fantastic time, spending over half a day with Mattia, our guide, in a group of 8. The group was purposefully small so we could access some of the best food shops and eateries. Mattia is a knowledgeable and enthusiastic guide. We had excellent coffee, lunch, gelato and shopping experiences in places we would never have found on our own. The fee for the tour included breakfast, wine, lunch, coffee, gelato and tastings as we walked and talked with Mattia. We learned about history, food production, best places to eat and food shop in an entertaining and light atmosphere.
I wanted to experience Bologna's food opportunities with a local. I like supporting local businesses wherever I go. Delicious Bologna did not disappoint. Valentina was our host. She was knowledgeable and a great host for our evening. Please, if you are in Bologna give them a call and set up a food tour with them.
This was an amazing tour. We learned so much and our tour guide was so knowledgeable. You have to try to 25 year old balsamic vinegar!!!
The audio system on our tour picked up so much background noise that we often could not understand what our tour guide was saying. Some sort of noise canceling microphone (or better mic placement) was really needed. The tour guide knew her stuff when we were in quieter settings in the church. David was the best part of the tour.
Wonderful food and cultural experience with Mattia. We ate delicious food from Bologna, had fun with our group and your guide. We would definitely recommend this food tour!
A very relaxed and good hearted tour at a steady pace. Mattia introduced us to the best foods and wines and explained their provenance and relevance to Bologna and the region. From cured and cooked meats to tortellini in broth, linguine with ragu, properly made lasagne, cheese and balsamic and finishing with the best gelato I’ve ever tasted everything was perfect! Mattia obviously takes great pride in his city and its cuisine, and loves to share this with his guests. We’ve been on several food tours and thoroughly enjoyed them all, but this was that little bit special.
Valentina was spectacular with her knowledge of the city and the history of Bologna. All of the food and sights were incredible and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this tour as it was small and intimate. Thank you so much for an incredible day!
What a great day, very informative and made better by our host Riccardo. So much to see and do with lots of fun along the way. Our tour ran overtime but I don’t think anybody cared including Riccardo. I would certainly recommend this tour to all. James
This was a great tour and great opportunity to learn about the Bologna food scene and what it has to offer made only better by our guide, Riccardo. He was very passionate about his home town and very enthusiastic about passing on to the group his knowledge. I would highly recommend this tour and if you get Riccardo as your tour guide then expect the unexpected! 10 out of 10 James
Excellent tour of authentic Bologne cuisine and culture. Mattia is a fun tour guide and we loved the small group option. Delicious Bologne was exactly the tour we were hoping for!
Mattia did a fantastic job educating us about the local food culture. Would highly recommend to anyone coming to Bologna.
Amazing food tour of Bologna! Look no further and pick this one, you won't be disappointed! Mattia was a fantastic guide with tons of info about the food and history of Bologna. We ate, we drank, we learned and it was a wonderful way to kick off ours days in beautiful Bologna
Loved the insights into the region and quality of foods and history of area as well as fantastic food at each place we went to - a day very well spent enjoying great food and good company !
Ricardo has a rare combination of charisma and character that makes him a perfect tour guide. He was greeted and liked by everyone on the streets, including the stray dogs. A fun and enjoyable experience, that felt too short. If not bc our schedule has us leaving the area next day, would return to do his other food tour. As for the tour itself - as mentioned multiple times - not a history tour, but still gave us good history context on different topics. seeing the nonas make fresh pasta, and tasting everything was awesome. This has been thus far a highlight of our trip. Only regret is we couldnt bring any tortellini back with us, we had filled our bags with mortadella and balsamic!!
Lovely experience getting oriented in Bologna and learning about and tasting the local specialities.
This was one of the highlights of our trip to Italy! The small group made it feel personal, and our guide was fantastic. He was knowledgeable, funny, and made the whole experience really enjoyable. Every stop had delicious food, and we learned so much along the way. I would absolutely do this tour again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Bologna!
Such a joy to be in the presence of such knowledge and experience. It was a great pace, the perfect size group (8 people), a LOT of food and an ocean of knowledge. And our guide clearly loves his job. He was having as much fun as we were!
The your is an absolute must if visitors Bologna. My second experience, but it still manages to be the best 👌 Great knowledge and food of the area. Highly recommended
Val was an awesome guide. She is extremely knowledgeable, friendly, fun and entertaining. Her explanations of the foods and traditions were ready to understand and appreciate.
Very relaxed tour from Mattia, with delicious assortments of authentic Bolognian food! Expert guide and fantastic value for money.
My niece and I traveled to Italy, and we did a day trip to Bologna from Florence. This food tour was a perfect way to spend a day in the kitchen of Italy. The food was all so delicious, our guide was great. Highly recommend.
We weren’t too sure what to expect when a driver picked us up from the designated spot - a short walk from our hotel in Bologna. We met our guide, Riccardo at a small cafe outside town where he told us the plan for the day: visit Moscattini cheese farm, where we will see (and taste) Parmigiano-Reggiano; Acetaia dei Bago where traditional Balsamic Vinegar is made, and lastly, La Mancina winery where we tasted some amazing wines produced in the Emilia-Romagna region. At each spot, we met and spoke with the actual owners and producers of these small production products, whose families have been making these products for generations. We weren’t simply filed into a tasting room in a large production facility, we became guests in their “homes” where, through Riccardo, they were very gracious and proud to show their products and explain their process. What can be said about Riccardo? He was an absolutely amazing guide for us. Informative, funny, personable, and highly entertaining. I couldn’t imagine a better person to lead us through an incredible day. I can’t recommend Bologna Food tours enough for a unique and memorable day in the region. For our family, this was a highlight of our time in Italy. Paul (“Daddy”)
We had a delightful time on this wonderful late-afternoon food tour in Bologna with our exceptional guide, Val. The small group was the perfect size and made up of lovely people, which created a warm and enjoyable atmosphere throughout the experience. Val was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable. She made the tour both informative and engaging as she guided us through a delicious culinary journey of Bologna’s famous specialties. We sampled several varieties of balsamic vinegar while learning about the production process, tasted five different types of cured meats, and enjoyed a selection of Parmigiano Reggiano cheeses. The tour also included three different pasta dishes and concluded with a delicious gelato for dessert. This was a fantastic evening filled with amazing food, local culture, and great company. Val was a wonderful guide, and we highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Bologna!
This was an awesome tour. Guide was personable and very informative. We made several stops and they were all interesting and had great food. Highly recommend this tour.
Mattia was an engaging and knowledgeable guide. We enjoyed the small group experience and going to places we never would have found in a city that has so many options for food. All the food we got to eat was great. Our favorite place was the osteria that is yes over 400 years old. Our favorite food was getting to taste DOP balsamic. Highly recommend!
What a great tour of Bologna through the lens of food! Our tour guide, Riccardo, was the best! We learned so much about foods, their origins, how they are made. The food and wine was excellent and we ate as a small group getting to know our guide and the people we were with. Riccardo was not only knowledgeable being from Bologna, but he was fun, entertaining, and hospitable. Highly recommend this tour!
Ricardo was an amazing guide. You get to try tons of food different foods from pasta to gelato to different meats as well as get a good history about the region.
The tour was a complete hit with us! We met the group which was a small size of 8 which was great. We were then taken around Bologna to different vendors in the city. We started with cappuccino and pastries and ended with the most delicious gelato we had the whole trip. Sent my daughter and nephews back so they could try it also and they agreed how good it was. Of course that was after I told them to stop and have lunch at the restaurant we went to that was incredible. Three kinds of pasta and they were all delicious. It was a perfect half day adventure. Would definitively recommend this tour if you want to get a taste of Delicious Bologna.
We had a wonderful morning and early afternoon with Ricardo. The tour was a great introduction to the Bologna food scene. The small group was perfect and the food and wine we sampled was superb! Ricardo was a fabulous tour guide and his passion, enthusiasm and knowledge of Bologna and the regional food was contagious. Thank you “Delicious Bologna” for a fantastic into to our stay in Bologna! Highly recommend this experience!!!
Best tour we have done while in Italy! Riccardo was our guide - what a fun guy, and he made our tour so enjoyable. Loads of information and interesting stops with delicious food. You will finish with a full belly and a heart filled with love for Bologna and its rich history of food. Go for it!
This is an educational and delicious walking tour of Bologna. Mattia was wonderful and only takes small groups so everyone has a great experience.
Valentina was so knowledgeable! We happened to have an all-female group, and the camaraderie was wonderful. Valentina was so kind and patient, and she handled everything so calmly and with class. The small group size helped keep the experience intimate.
This was about our 9th food tour done in different cities/countries and Mattia's presentation here was spot on regarding the local food history, eat and food places visited, variety of quisine and whatever. Most enjoyable and informative.
What a wonderful way to spend our first day in Bologna! Mattia, the company owner and our guide, was amazing. The group of eight was small enough that we easily navigated the narrow streets and we enjoyed meeting the others and learning about their travels. Each stop on the tour was an education in Italian cuisine and a joy to the palette. Walking through the old-town neighborhood gave us a feel of what was available. At the end he provided a pamphlet of foods we had experienced and later emailed an extensive lists of places to eat or drink that he recommended. Well worth the money and we highly recommend this tour.
Absolutely wonderful! Our guide Riccardo was so much fun. His food knowledge was extensive and the bits of history mixed into the tour were fascinating. All of the stops were great. We got a very good overview of the food that makes Bologna special. We’ve done a lot of food tours in different cities and this was by far one of the best
