A fantastic day discovering some of Modena’s most iconic traditions, followed by a visit to the Ferrari Museum. The Parmesan farm tour was fascinating. I hadn’t realised how complex and time-consuming making authentic Parmigiano Reggiano is, or that every wheel must be tested and pass inspection before it can be sold as certified cheese. The tasting was a highlight, especially comparing the flavours of younger and older cheeses. We then visited a charming family-owned Acetaia set on farmland. The production of certified Balsamic Vinegar of Modena is even more involved, taking a minimum of 12 years. Learning how the vinegar is progressively transferred through different wooden barrels from year to year was particularly fascinating. Finishing at the Ferrari Museum was the perfect finale to a great day combining food, craftsmanship, tradition and Italian culture. Highly recommended.

Excellent day touring Parmesan balsamic, and Ferrari museum
This was a super fun experience. Learning about the parmesan making process was quite interesting and sampling it was even better. I believe our tour guide was Mariana and she was great. We even got to see some of their white cows. Learning about the balsamic vinegar making process was also enlightening. There's a lot more that goes into it than what may think and the property was beautiful. For those that enjoy cars, specifically ferraris, they'll find the museum fascinating.
I like the experience of learning how things are made, but I also grew up in the country. My wife, on the other hand, did not, so the cows and farm were not a big deal, but the Parmesan-making factory was an issue for her. The smell was powerful and unpleasant to her. lol The Balsamic Food Tour with Ferrari Museum made it better for her, but she wasn't feeling well from the first part. Just be aware that if you are sensitive to smells, this tour is not for you.
Loved seeing how the cheese from this region is made. The small producers of these family businesses like the Modena balsamic vinegar tour was very interesting. More complicated to produce these items than we knew before. Ferrari museum was cool too!
Communication from the booking personnel was very good. Pick up and travel were also very good. Although it was a little difficult for passengers from the back seat to hop out, we have travelled in mini vans which are easier to enter and exit. The visit to the Ferrari museum was also very good as the museum is well set up and is great to visit especially for Ferrari fans. The visit to the balsamic vinegar venue was excellent, setting was spectacular, welcome very cordial with refreshments and access to toilets offered. The explanation of the vinegar making process was excellent as the guide spoke English clearly and she was very knowledgeable about every aspect of the process. All members of the group thoroughly enjoyed this part of the tour. Products on sale were clearly explained and there is an opportunity to have items sent home. The farm and parmigiano making part of the tour was the disappointing part of the day. We were not ‘welcomed’, we stood around for a bit not knowing what to do or what was happening, we were given protective caps and jackets, then stood around for a bit more. When the tour did start this was not made clear to us and a few members of the group had to catch up and missed the first bit of information given. As the tour progressed it was difficult to hear the guide as there was still work going on in the different rooms. At least a third of the group missed 50% of the information. It would be worth the farm investing in a guided tour head set system to ensure that all participants hear particularly as the venue is a working farm. The cheese tasting was ok, unfortunately the bread offered was stale and wine warm. We were not aware that we would not have time for lunch until the final info email. The balsamic vinegar tasting venue would have been great for lunch and participants could have had the opportunity to taste how the vinegar is used. Please consider including this. I would only recommend this tour if the farm and cheese visit was improved.
The individual tours to the cheese farm, balsamic villa and Ferrari were interesting and definitely what we expected. Learned a few new things about Parmesan and Balsamic Vinegar. I only gave the tour a 4/5 though because 3 of the 6 hours were spent in the van going from place to place. This by itself wasn’t bad, but I had expected that like all the other tours we had been on that there would be some information given by our driver/guide as we went through the country side of Reggio Emilia and Modena - info about the area or even the places we were visiting. Our driver was courteous and on time, but only a driver. The 3 hours in the car seemed like wasted time- except for making new friends in the van.
Well-organized tour with a great mix of food and local culture. The Parmesano and balsamico visits were very interesting, with plenty to taste and learn. The Ferrari Museum was a nice change of pace and really worth seeing. Comfortable transport and friendly driver made the day easy and enjoyable
This tour was a highlight of our time in Emilio-Romano region. Visits to Parmesan cheese and balsamic were impressive, guides very friendly and knowledgeable, tastings good. And, of course, Ferrari Museum is a must
Great experience guides were warm, kind, and very knowledge about the region and its many wonderful products. Highly recommend!
Our family all agreed that this was our very favorite experience in Bologna! We took our 3 kids, ages 9, 10, 12… and they thoroughly enjoyed themselves. 10 stars!
Book the Parmesan and Balsamic tours, but skip Ferrari. The Parmesan and balsamic tours were a highlight of the trip. We learned so much and the local tour guide (employed by the Parmesan dairy farm and the one employed by balsamic producer) were incredible. We didn’t have a tour or even an Audio tour at Ferrari so we felt like it was lacking. We could have learned a lot more at that museum but instead felt a bit lost. Also our driver did not speak any English which would have been so helpful to learn more about Italian culture while driving from place to place.
We wanted to visit the Ferrari Museum, but were also curious about local products, like parmegiana cheese and balsamico. And we enjoyed a lot, the visits were very informative and the tastings just great, what a difference between we have tried before!
Great tour! Each stop was informative and interesting. A wide variety of tastings The Museum was interesting The ride was definitely interesting- careful if you are prone to car sickness
Varied experiences so something for everyone. Very good time, driver was nice. Glad we did the tour.
Fantastic experience, really well organized. Driver picked us up at the apartment, brought us to each location and everything was right on time. Each facilities tour was fantastic. Definitely enjoyed the tastings! Recommend.
This is a must do tour. Booked it for the Ferrari tour but we loved just as much learning about cheese and balsamic vinegar making. Our driver was also fantastic. I highly recommend this tour!
Wonderful!! Best driver and an amazing set of experiences. Informational tours capped off with a yummy cheese tasting and balsamic tasting. We finished with Ferrari museum which was “go at your own pace”. We enjoyed the day!
We booked last minute, but I’m glad we did. Was curious about how they produce balsamic and parmigiana, and we were able to see both. All tours were run by the producers themselves. Ferrari Museum was good but a bit too crowded
Exciting day. Parmesan tour was fascinating, Balsamic tour was very interesting, and the Ferrari museum was amazing. All conveniently accessed. Great day.
We had a great day exploring Bologna’s culinary treasures – from savoring a variety of Parmigiano Reggiano and tasting the rich, aged balsamic at a charming local factory, to getting a quick but cool peek at the Ferrari Museum. Amazing way to experience the area.
Amazing tour! All the locations were great, especially the traditional balsamic, which was a real highlight for us - absolutely spectacular. Ferrari museum was quick but a cool experience as well
We really enjoyed all the stops, especially the cheese and vinegar producers, it’s great to see how they actually produce the local delicacies. our driver was knowledgeable and friendly. Ferrari museum is a must for car enthusiasts.
Great tour, hit the main highlights of the Emilio-Romano region. The balsamic vinegar experience was much more than we were expecting. Cheese farm was an organic farm where you can actually saw how Parmesan is born and then taste it. It was also great to learn about the history of Ferrari.
Everything was as expected. Alberto our driver was on time and a pleasure to spend the day with. I recommend this tour if in Bologna.
Tour lengths were perfect and driver very professional and timely. This is a great way to experience the area without spending the entire day.
It's hard to imagine how much effort and energy goes into making cheese and balsamic until you see it for yourself. This tour is a must! And without a doubt, the Ferrari Museum will not leave any car lover indifferent.
The experience made it possible to have a good idea of how the production of parmeggianno reggiano and balsamic acetate is processed. I highlight the deep knowledge and also the passion with which the two ladies (Mary and Monica, respectively) described it. Afterwards, the visit to the Ferrari Museum, excites. I also inform that the driver (Kevin), was very efficient.
Well done tour, all carefully organized, great tastings and also free time to visit Ferrari museum, advice
