I did the lesson with Luca and we made tagliatelle, tortelloni, and tiramisu. Luca speaks good English (although he thinks it is only “ok”) but he let me use Italian a lot to practice which I appreciated. He made cooking and learning fun and interesting, and the finished foods were incredible.

The experience with Olga was amazing. From the moment we arrived until the time we left, we felt welcomed by Olga in her home. Her expertise, friendly-ness and patience with us making pasta for the first time was absolutely lovely. You can tell Olga is passionate about cooking and we felt blessed to be able to learn from such an artist. I would highly recommend taking a class with Olga!
My husband and I really enjoyed our time with Oriana. She was very knowledgeable, hospitable and answered all of the many questioned we had. The location of the class was beautiful and comfortable with a an excellent view of the city. We learned a lot about Italian food from Oriana and highly recommend a class with her.
If you are visiting Bologna, do not leave without taking a cooking class with Olga. It was hands down the highlight of our entire trip. From the moment we arrived, Olga made us feel completely at home. Her warmth, patience, and genuine passion for Italian cooking created an experience that was as fun as it was educational. She walked us through every step with care, answered every question, and made the whole experience feel effortless and joyful. The food we made together was absolutely incredible — fresh, flavorful, and authentically Bolognese. But what truly set the experience apart was the thoughtfulness Olga brought to every detail. She sent us home with beautiful recipe cards of every dish we made, along with photos she took throughout the class so we could relive the experience and remember every moment. When we return home and are recreating the dishes for our family, we will think of Olga and the wonderful afternoon we spent in her kitchen. She is a gifted teacher, a gracious host, and a truly lovely person. Five stars without hesitation. Book her. You will not regret it.
We were automatically matched with Simon for our pasta cooking class and it was an amazing time! We made some delicious tagliatelle, ravioli and ate some incredible bread and tiramisu. Simon taught us how to cook these Italian dishes and we showed Simon some of our Dominican music. It was a lovely time! My one suggestion: for sharing the recipes after, prepare a more formal document/pdf more detailed instructions for each dish.
We made a wonderful lunch together. Martina Ronchetti was an excellent teacher. We made delicious tagliatelle and tiramisu and thoroughly enjoyed our day with her.
We had a wonderful cooking class with Roberta! She is a natural teacher and very patient; all five of us learned new techniques. After preparing delicious pasta and tiramisu, we ate dinner in the dining room of Roberta’s beautiful apartment. We highly recommend this experience, and will do it again when we return to Bologna
This cooking class was one of the best experiences we have had in Italy. Our hosts were magnificent. They picked us up and carried us to their home and the fun began. We made the pasta and the tiramisu, and then enjoyed eating our own pasta prepared with our own hands. I wish I could tell everyone how much fun we had, but I cannot come up with the words. It was simply fabulous and we thank our host family for having us, it was great.
It was an amazing experience. Paola was a wonderful host and was great at teaching us how to make the pasta and also shared the recipes. In addition, the tiramisu was really delicious. I would definitely recommend taking a class with Paola.
My husband and I booked our class with Rosa very last minute after two others with different companies canceled. We were so happy we ended up learning from Rosa. She was kind, so much fun, and taught in a way that made it so we could actually use the skills we learned. We made tagliatelle with ragu, meatballs, and tiramisu, and will absolutely make it all again. I could not recommend this course more. Some of the best money and food we ate in Bologna!
Our experience with Il Cesarino Maurizio was second to none. We can not rate Maurizio's hospitality, knowledge and authenticity high enough. As a very amateur cook I learnt so much through our day in the kitchen, tips and tricks I will remember for a lifetime. Maurizio is authentic and warm and was a pleasure to spend the day with. Lunch on a sunny terrace joined by Marco and Dante of course, an exceptional day we will never forget.
My wife and I had an amazing experience. Annamaria and Francesco are the best hosts. We had a lot of fun, and even more so we had a perfect time together. From the warm reception to the dinner time, everything was super nice. We absolutely recommend this experience with Annamaria. They are 10 stars, not five! :)
Cesarine was amazing my girls had a great time, the food was wonderful. The girls still talking ablout the experince.
We had an exceptional experience with Roberta! She welcomed us into her lovely home and prepared a delicious apertif. She taught us fabulous recipes which she shared with us after and taught us about her cuisine which is a blend of food from Florence and Bologna. She was a splendid host and made us both feel very welcome. She also shared several other goodies to teach us more about the local cuisine! I would recommend cooking with Roberta to everyone!!
Roberta was a very welcoming host. Her home was beautiful and she made us feel comfortable as soon as we entered. The food was delicious and we learnt so much from her. This experience was very good value for money as included all food and drinks for the evening and our host shared her homemade specialties and favourite local foods. They tailor your experience to your likes/dislikes including vegetarian and the instructions for how to get to the location were very clear. We have made memories to last a lifetime and we can’t wait to try out the recipes for our guests at home. Would definitely recommend this experience to others. Grazie mille Roberta!
My husband and I had a wonderful time meeting Alessandra and learning how to make pasta and tiramisu with her. She was delightful, taught us a lot about making pasta, and shared many insightful insights about Italian food overall. We highly recommend this experience if you are like us and really enjoy getting to know local people when you travel plus learning something new!
As an update: I thought I would let you all know about the way this firm treats its customers now that they have been in touch with me. Having allowed me to book/pay for my course (and incur the associated cost with paying by credit card) I am forced to cancel it because they can't fulfil the booking. No reason given (I have the text messages from the teacher). Admittedly they processed the refund promptly but again I incur fees from the credit card. The result is I have had to pay fees for something that wasn't available - there is a word for that. They refuse to cover the costs I've incurred due to their pathetic administration - nor have they had the courtesy to tell me why they couldn't run the course and taken my money for. It's not a lot but I wouldn't have incurred these costs if the course, as advertised, was not available/fully booked. They say they empathise with me - no they don't. That they care about their reputation, really? Look in the mirror, it's not a good image and I'm sure the people of Bologna would not be happy to see how visitors are treated by this lot.
I cannot recommend this experience more. Such a privilege to be welcomed into Annamaria’s home. The lesson was such a memorable experience and highlight of the trip. They were able to tailor to cater for vegetarian requirements, and shared their family recipes. We will take these recipes home to our families. We cannot wait to make the recipes for ourselves at home. Thank you again, will recommend to all our family and friends who visit!
We had the best time with Margherita. She was a very generous host. She made the evening fun and interesting while we learned to make 2 different types of traditional pasta along with tiramisu. This was such a great way to gain insight into local culture and traditions. Definitely the highlight of our time in Bologna!
Fun-filled learning afternoon! Vanessa (our adult daughter) and her boyfriend Cristian experienced Rosa’s cooking class during their short stay with us in Bologna, which was special for them. Rosa is a consummate hostess who invited us (the cooks and us, Vanessa’s parents) to her sunny apartment in Bologna's historic center to start with appetizers and prosecco. Vanessa and Cristian learned to prepare vegetarian spinach “meatballs” (their request), traditional tagliatelle with ragout (typical meat sauce), and tiramisù. The two learned to prepare fresh pasta using egg and flour, rolling out sheets of dough that they cut into narrow strips to cook, and topping the pasta with a ragout they also made. Rosa is an experienced cook and patient teacher who encouraged the cooks during each step of their process. Tiramisu was a big hit to make and taste for dessert…and Vanessa and Cristian now have an Italian treat to prepare for the November Thanksgiving feast that they will host! Thank you Rosa for taking photos of each step of the cooking class process…our family now has a unique photo album to renew our Bolognese experience memories! What a treat to be invited to share in tasting the cooks’ preparations around a family kitchen table while Rosa talked with us about Italy’s cooking methods and history, as well as changing cultural life. Rosa is sociable and enthusiastic about both cooking traditional dishes and sharing Bolognese culture and lifestyle as only a native can be. We are grateful for Rosa’s memorable cooking expertise shared through Cesarine. We now have a better understanding of typical Italian cooking and life...and an Italian friend in Rosa! We highly recommend Rosa and the Cesarine experience to anyone visiting Bologna.
We booked a cooking class via Cesarine for our stay in Bologna. And we are so happy we did! Me and my husband really recommend the cooking class with Rosa. She is an amazingly inviting person, you will feel at home immediately. And of course you’ll have to meet Tony, her cat. You can tell that she is very passionate about food and she will tell you everything you would like to know about making the best fresh pasta, tiramisu and her special meatballs. We shared some good conversations over good food and had the best time with her. If you don’t take this class you’re really missing out on an amazing experience.
Oriana is a wonderful, patient teacher! She fed me a great lunch with more than the pasta and Tiramisu we made. Her homemade pasta sauce with nuts and cheese and sage is my new favorite. I was busy cooking and eating and forgot to take photos.
I had a wonderful experience. Christina was amazing and so kind. I felt completely at ease in her home. We drank Prosecco and made pasta. Then we sat down and enjoyed the meal together. It was an unforgettable evening.
Barbara and Paola were great teachers in making 2 types of pasta and tiramisu. We started by getting to know each other with champagne and appetizers out on the patio. During our time there, we were so lucky to meet Barbara’s family: Antonella, Sara, Mattia, Maya and Minou. We love nothing more than cooking with friends and family so it made our cooking experience amazing! We learned to make totelloni with zucchini ricotta filling and a mascarpone, tomato sauce and tagliatelle the traditional way and with a pasta press with a ragu. The tiramisu was the best we’ve ever had. We had the food we prepared with sparkling water and red wine. After making and eating fresh pasta, we understand the time and love that goes into each dish. Thanks for the cooking class but what makes this so special are all the wonderful people we spent time with! Grazie
Alessandra is an amazing host and incredible teacher. She clearly loves the idea of cooking for the soul and entertaining for the purpose of enriching life. I will seek her tutelage in the future.
We loved every moment of it. My husband and I went on our honeymoon trip. Our hostesses were Barbara and Paola, they were so sweet and such good teachers. The food we made was delicious and we definetly plan on making it again in the future. Definetly recommend this class.
This was amazing if I could do more than 5 stars I would, we had so much fun. Our teachers helped us learn a little Italian and we taught them a little bit of English as we learned to make the food. It was our favorite thing we have done in Italy and we have been here almost a month. Would definitely recommend!
Giulia is a great host, amazing chef and teacher. We had an authentic pasta experience at her appartement and it felt more like a lunch with a friend than a unpersonal class. Thank you so much, we will recommend you to family and friends. Best, Gaby & Moritz
If I could give more than 5 stars for this, I would! Paola was the BEST host! She’s a great teacher, and she quickly became a great friend. I felt so welcome in her home…she gave me the full tour, and I got to know her so well in our 3 hours together. On a 21 day trip (so far), this was THE best experience I’ve had, abd it’s been an outstanding trip. I can’t recommend it more.
A wonderful experience, I've been wanting g a hands on kesdion for years and finally got it, between the pasta and wine with a tiramsu dessert!
We had such a lovely time being welcomed into Paola's home and learning to cook pasta, tiramisu, piadina and bruschetta. We had a group of 8 and everyone was able to participate. After, we tasted our delicious lunch paired with wine. Paola was a knowledgeable, fun and gracias hostess. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone wanting to learn more about traditional Italian cooking. And go hungry!!! :)
Our little family was welcomed by Margherita and her fiancé who made us feel at ease in their lovely flat. Marghetina was very kind and patient with the children and they cautiously progress through the steps of making their first pasta. Sharing this lovely dinner together was the perfect way of ending the evening. Not cheap, but highly recommended!
Our cooking class was amazing! We entered to find Jazz music playing, a completely set up work space, delicious appetizers, and an incredible welcome from the chef. The class surpassed all expectations because of the warmth and care we all felt. The pasta we made was delicious, but more importantly, we all felt that we were treated to an authentic Italian experience. We spent hours learning and then chatting with our hostess and her husband. We learned to make great food and were lucky to make good friends as well.
We had a wonderful cooking class with Paola! She betrayed her recipes with a lot of empathy, humor and enthusiasm and guided us, who we are so inexperienced, very well. In addition, Paola is a very attentive hostess. The evening went off with cooking, food and good conversations. We can highly recommend this course. Thank you very much!!!
