Itinerary
Step into our cozy cooking school in Bologna's historic center and learn to make authentic lasagna and homemade gelato. You'll start by making fresh pasta with spinach, just like it’s traditionally done in Emilia-Romagna. Then, you’ll make béchamel sauce and assemble your lasagna with layers of pasta and a slow-cooked Bolognese ragù, prepared in advance following the classic method. While the lasagna is baking, you’ll move on to gelato. With the help of your instructor, you’ll prepare one or two seasonal flavors using fresh ingredients and simple techniques you can replicate at home. As the final step, enjoy an aperitivo with local wine, mortadella, and regional cold cuts. Then sit down together to taste the lasagna and gelato you’ve made. At the end of the class, you'll receive a recipe booklet with all the dishes prepared and some additional Italian classics to try back home.

Our cooking instructor Claudia was amazing!! Fun Funny Learned a lot about Italian cooking Would highly recommend
The food was exceptional and the setting was very comfortable. We got to know our table mates and shared some nice conversations.
The destination is a little hard to find so I suggest you leave ample time. The class is great - you only actually make the pasta - the ragu and bechemel is a guided viewing of "how to" as you actually use the previous days ragu *due to the cooking time It is also a guided "how to" for making the gelatto. I really enjoyed making the pasta and learning the techniques used to make the entire lasagne and will definatley make at home . The recipe that you recieve is just a QR code - I thought it would have been a nice touch to hand the actually receipe card out but otherwise it was a great learning experience. Also good to note - the kitchen is extramly well kept and very clean.
We had such an amazing time during our cooking class!! The location was easy to find and in a lovely cooking studio, and we got online recipes and aprons as souvenirs. The lasagna and gelato were lovely, as were the wine, cheese and meats. Our instructors were the highlight of our experience as they were outstanding! They were extremely knowledgeable in classic Bolognese recipes and traditions and also very friendly and chatty. We would highly recommend this cooking class!
Two friendly chefs and 6 people to a table meant it was very sociable and a terrific learning experience about traditional Bolognese cuisine. Our lasagna was delicious and the condiments we tried with our gelato were amazing.
Vey ell done and organized class with clear instructions and nice hosts. The food was delicious and did not take all of our time. As a man I lose interest after a couple of hours. We were done and out in3 hours so I was happy. We did another in Tuscany and it was a 7 hr ordeal which was too much for me.
We made lasagna and gelato. It was amazing that we made such delicious food out of the simplest of ingredients! Would highly recommend!
everything was delicious!! Mattia and Valentina were so knowledgeable and welcoming!! It was a great way to spend the evening!!
This cooking class was so much fun! We learned a lot about the food and culture. And the lasagna and gelato were delicious!!!
Our instructor was patient (I don’t cook) and very knowledgeable about foods in various regions. He was funny and invited questions and conversation amongst our group. Food was fantastic and I believe we can do this at home! =) We would recommend to everyone and would do it again!
Debora and Valentina are fun, personable, and great teachers. My family had a fabulous time learning to make lasagna and gelato. The end results were delicious.
This was a terrific experience, and the lasagna we made was better than one we had at a local restaurant the night before
This was the best cooking class of the many we have taken in Europe. Francesca was friendly, knowledgeable, encouraging, totally organized and professional. The kitchen was spacious and spotless. The food was delicious and the recipes are approachable -ones we can put to use at home.
Stylish Italian kitchen with a fabulous chef, my dubious husband said it was the best thing we did in Bologna! We made authentic lasagne and delicious, unexpected flavoured gelato. Included local wine, appetiser and recipe book.
It’s a beautiful and very clean cooking studio. We made a spinach lasagne with beef and pork ragu. I can recommend the chef, she was very professional.
We had a wonderful time. This was a very intimate process with just the two of us and the amazing chef. I cook Italian food and was amazed with some of the new techniques I learned in the process. Thank you for the enjoyable experience.
Amazingly informative. Hands on. Fun. Delicious. Learned so much. Very small class size. Highly recommend it!!
Prepared pasta dough and that’s it. The instructor did all the rest. A lot of talking and not hands on cooking. Gelato tasted like yogurt. Disappointing.
This was an excellent evening and an even better meal! La Soffritta is a comfortable spot to learn more of what makes Bologna special.
Fun experience to meet and socialize with people from around the world great to ask questions and learn step by step.
Our chef was a really lovely, other people had cancelled so we had this all to ourselves and the experience was amazing and the food so tasty.
A wonderful cooking lesson to learn not only technique but the reasons why certain techniques are important. Very enjoyable, hands on and valuable!
Monia is a wonderful cooking instructor. We loved that she explained the chemistry behind the preparation and the interaction of the ingredients. She made it very fun and our meal was delicious! We can’t wait use her cookbook!
Our cooking class making lasagna and gelato with Monia was fantastic. She explained each step very well, and was happy to assist when we needed assistance or had any questions. We were only in Bologna for one day, but we would definitely take another class with her. Also, we are excited to take the recipes home to make the again.
Wonderful teacher, spoke good English and the location was nice in a room so it was quiet. She gave thorough details on each step. It was a lot of fun even for my husband and dad that don’t cook! The results were amazing, best lasagna I’ve ever had and really good gelato!
Really fun experience. Claudio was great, super informative, lots to do and a great meal at the end of it. Strongly recommend
Lasagne & Gelato what more can you ask for. We enjoyed the interactive aspect of the class. Making the pasta from scratch. The chef's gave us clear instructions. We enjoyed mixing with other participants from different places in the world. The kitchen with spacious and new. The finished product was delicious and we have made this at home with the recipes we were given at the end. Great experience and would highly recommend it.
We had a wonderful class! It was a private lasagna and gelato/sorbet class in a beautiful facility that was fantastic! The recipes and Instruction were well presented, and our instructors were so patient with our questions. Eating our creations were absolutely delicious. Definitely a must to understand the why and how of food in Bologna. Recommend!
Great info Both chefs were informative and pleasant Great value over all easy to find and small class size
Our first time cooking class was top notch! The food and demonstration was incredible. Our only suggestion is to allow the guests more hands on experience with the preparation, otherwise 5 stars!
What a great experience! We had so much fun and the food was DELICIOUS!! Would definitely recommend!
Monia was an excellent teacher and chef. We thoroughly enjoyed the class and consuming the meal. Next time we are in Bologna, we will definitely schedule another lesson.
Great instructors. Answered questions clearly. Lasagna and gelato were fantastic! Learnt some new cooking techniques that were surprisingly tasty.
This was another amazing cooking class that I took in Bologna. We made the traditional lasagne which is actually green from adding spinach to the dough. Monia and Francesca were very thorough on how to prepare a Bolognese lasagne, bolognese sauce and a gelato. In the interest of time, we were preparing the ingredients for the next class which was fine. We used the previous classes work to assemble the ingredients for our lasagne. We represented many countries from Denmark and Germany and USA and Scotland. This was a delightful experience.
This was a great experience. It was a wonderful way to learn a little about the city while getting to taste some amazing food from authentic local shops.
Great fun and good cooking tips in a friendly atmosphere. The ladies were knowledgable and helpful to all the participants no matter how inexperienced!
We loved this experience. The classroom is very clean and modern, and the teacher was lovely. She kept apologising for her poor English but it was absolutely fine. The lasagne you make is simply delicious. You also learn how to make yoghurt gelato and pear sorbet, and all of that was washed down with a delicious Italian wine. My only issue is that the instructions on where to go were awful, and several worried minutes were spent wandering around with google maps.
I had such a wonderful time at this cooking class in Bologna. It was amazing to prepare a traditional lasagna with spinach completely from scratch. Monia was incredibly kind and friendly, guiding us with patience and a lot of humor. Truly memorable experience.🤩
I had such a wonderful time at this cooking class in Bologna! The location is right in the city center, very easy to reach, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable. The class itself was both fun and original, learning how to prepare lasagna from scratch and then making gelato 🍨 was such a unique combination! Monia was incredibly kind and friendly, guiding us with patience and a smile throughout the lesson ☺️ I also loved the little aperitivo break in the middle, where we got to taste some delicious local products. Highly recommended!! Thank you
A truly Italian experience! We learned how to make the original Bolognese lasagna. The cooking school is beautiful and very central — I recommend it to everyone.
The best lasagna of my life — I discovered that the true original Italian lasagna comes from Bologna and is green, made with spinach in the pasta! Amazing!
Fantastic experience! Shotout Monia, she's so gentle and qualified. The class was fun, and very well organized. Making pasta and assembling the lasagna felt authentic, and the gelato was delicious. The aperitif and recipe booklet were the perfect finishing. Highly recommended!
Excellent in everything, including speaking foreign languages, but also in explaining things to children; very nice, the place is very clean but also spacious (nothing negative), however highly recommended... Great job... I really recommend going to learn how to cook at Soffritta.
The experience was great! The chef was amazing and taught us all step by step. The food was wonderful! Super recommended!
