Bologna: Dinner, Wine & Food Tastings Experience

Sara was a great tour guide. We started at the Prosciutteria but we had been there a few hours before to have lunch. She took us to Gilberto to taste balsamic vinegar. We actually went back later to buy some wine and chocolates. The pasta place was good but I don't remember the name. A plate full of 2 different kinds of pasta. Very good. Lastly the gelato was good. Sara was very informative and pleasant with a friendly demeanor. We enjoyed the tour.

Luka is, without a doubt, the best tour guide I’ve ever had! His incredible knowledge, great energy, and genuine passion for what he does made this experience truly unforgettable. The food portions and wine were absolutely phenomenal, but what made the tour so special was hearing about the traditions, and hidden gems of Bologna. Thanks to Luka, we didn’t just taste our way through Bologna but we truly experienced the heart and soul of this beautiful city.

What a wonderful experience! We were pleasantly surprised when we were the only ones in the tour. Private tour for the price of a small group.!!Naz, our guide was so warm and friendly and informative. We ate some wonderful food and Naz shared so much history about the foods and the region. She has a deep love for Bologna and her pride for the city was made evident in each of our stops. The tour does require a lot of walking. My husband uses a cane. Naz was so patient and conscientious of this. By the end of the tour, I felt like I made a new friend.

We had a wonderful tour learning of Bologna's origins in preparation of simple meals. Nazanin took us to various establishments to give us a flavor of local foods and wines. Following a typical local sit down dinner, we topped off the tour at a gellato spot that had an unbelievable selection to pick from.

We enjoyed the stories of Bologna’s history of culture & food; loved the wonderful walking tour around the main square & absorbed the wonder of cute markets & restaurants. Our tour guide Nazanin was amazing!! 💕

Phillipe was an excellent guide. He not only took us to extraordinary restaurants from Cheese tasting; to a “deli” with wine and cheese and meat tasting to a delightful restaurant for a dinner of ragu and tortellini with a Bologna’s sparkling white wine! Amazing foods! We finished off with the best gelato in all of Bologna! As we walked Phillipe shared information about Bologna from past generations to current times as well as what he is studying at Bologna University! He welcomed questions and made conversation easy! It was only us and one other couple which made for a perfectly relaxing personal experience! I highly recommend this activity to those who want a personal taste of Bologna at the best places! This was a good tour. Leonardo was an informative guide. There was plenty of food and wine, we did not leave wanting more food.

This was a great introduction to Bologna and fun way to spend a Saturday evening. Domenico was a fantastic tour guide, taking time to interact with everyone in the group and made sure everyone was enjoying their tour. The cheese, the meat, the food, the wine, the gelato...combined with a bit of history was perfect. Best tour out if the 10 or so we took in Europe.

We love food tours and this one was the best! Dominico led us through the fresh markets, the meat and cheese markets and treated us to the most wonderful pasta dishes! Of course we finished with the best gelato! We were the only ones on this tour, and although we missed getting to know others, the personalized care was great.

Jasmine was a fabulous guide! She was energetic, friendly, and extremely knowledgeable about Bologna, and even other parts of Italy. You could tell she loves what she does! This wasn’t just a food tour. It was an informative tour about Bologna’s history, which is exactly what we wanted! And the food was authentic and excellent.

It was wonderful and there was so much food! We stopped for cheese and we stopped for appetizers and wine. Then we went to dinner and more wine and then we ended the night with gelato. It was really fun. I highly recommend and we loved our host.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The perfect way to experience Bologna — and Eric was exceptional! We’ve done plenty of food and wine experiences on our travels, and this was one of the great ones. Bologna is already a dangerous place to visit if you have absolutely no self-control around good food, and spending a few hours with Eric only made the situation considerably worse! From the very beginning, Eric was warm, engaging, incredibly knowledgeable and just great company. What really made the tour special was that it never felt like we were being marched around ticking off a list of foods. Instead, it felt like wandering through Bologna with a very knowledgeable local friend who knew exactly where to go, what to eat, what to drink and — most importantly — the stories behind it all. I should note we were lucky enough to score a private tour, which made it even more special. The food was sensational, matched with some great wine, and we learned so much about Bologna, its food culture and the extraordinary amount of passion and tradition that sits behind what appears on the plate. Eric struck that perfect balance between giving us fascinating information and simply allowing us to relax, laugh, eat and enjoy ourselves. There was nothing scripted or mechanical about it. He clearly loves Bologna and its food, and that enthusiasm is infectious. We finished completely full, slightly more educated, considerably happier and wondering why on earth we hadn’t come to Bologna sooner. If you love food, wine, local stories and discovering a city beyond the obvious tourist sights, do this tour. And if you can get Eric as your guide, even better. An absolutely brilliant experience and one of the highlights of our time in Italy. Highly recommended!

Our guide Naz was excellent. She gave a very interesting tour of the historic centre. The highlight (unsurprisingly in Bologna) is the food. We tried cheese in the old market streets, followed a platter of meats, cheese, and vegetables (served with wine), and then onto dinner where we got to try some delicious pasta dishes. The evening finished with a trip to a geletaria which topped off an excellent tour. Highly reccomend!!

Domenico was a great tour guide and we enjoyed him very much. Dinner was ok. My expectations of the Ragu wasn’t met but the tortellini was great and gelato excellent.

Very good food and guide knowledge of Bologna. We had 4 stops - cheese tasting, charcuterie board, red and white pasta and gelata. I would do it again.

We have done several walking dinner tours throughout Italy. This one and our guide Eric was the best of all. Plenty of food, drink, and information for a casual and comfortable evening. Would do again and highly recommend.

We only had one day in Bologna and booking this food tour for my family was the absolute best decision we made! It was the perfect way to experience the flavor of the city while learning about some of it's history in a short amount of time. Our guide, Domenico, was exceptional. He was incredibly personable and was full of knowledge about the local cuisine and the city's past. We tried a fantastic variety of delicious foods that truly represent Bologna and Domenico gave the history behind it every single stop. You can easily tell that he is not only great at what he does, but that he genuinely loves doing it. If you want an authentic culinary and historical experience in Bologna, I highly recommend taking this tour with Domenico!

This tour was truly the best experience of our trip. We recommend doing it at the beginning of your time in Bologna so you get a feel for the local food scene. Our guide Domenico was friendly, engaging, interesting, funny, and very knowledgeable. He was interested in every person in our group and he took the time to chat with each of us - including our kids. Our time with him was like hanging out with an old friend! Domenico took us to several shops in the Quadrilatero. We tried various foods and wine along the way. Our favorite was the Prosciutteria - we had a private space to enjoy a charcuterie board & local wine. And we went to a restaurant where I had the best pesto pasta I have ever eaten. We finished with gelato. Everything was amazing. Please, do yourself a favor, and book this tour!!

We had the most enjoyable and delicious evening. Our small group of four, with our intrepid guide Domenico, bonded and learned about the food, culture, wines, and history of Bologna. The food was amazing. We started in the old market and enjoyed cheese and wine at our first stop. Charcuterie and wine at our next stop. Traditional pasta and wine it our third stop. And authentic gelato as our final stop. No wine. Our guide was wonderful and while he taught us about the food, history, and culture, he managed to get each of us to open up and share stories and by the evening end we had made new friends. This was a wonderful experience.

This tour and time of day was why we picked the tour. It was 95 F 35 C during the day in the evening it was still hot but comfortable enough to walk through out neighborhoods and listen to stories and I information about communities, culture, food and wine. The dinner was good and they were able to accommodate some peoples allergies you have to let them know upfront and at the restaurant. During dinner we listened to each other’s travel experiences and got ideas on what to see next day or in future vacations. The tour guide also shared his life experience which I was really interested in because he is proud of his country and his mom’s cooking. For me the price was a little too much but I am glad that my cousin and two friends had a great experience. This was my take on the tour.

The tour was a lovely way to sample some delicious food and see some less obvious bits of Bologna. Domenico was our guide on 24/07/26, he was very informative and engaging, and was happy to answer any questions we had.

Our tour guide, Domenico, was fantastic! My wife and I booked this small group food and wine tour at the last minute. Turns out, we were the only ones to tour with Domenico that day. What a great day full of interesting history of Bologna, some really great food including meats and cheeses with honey, a full meal of delicious lasagna, and plenty of wine. Finished it all off with gelato of course. If you are lucky enough to have Domenico as your tour guide, you will be very happy.

We took this tour our first night in Bologna. It was the perfect introduction to the city and the food & wine from the region. Domenico was a wonderful guide. Our family is gluten intolerant and has to eat gluten free. He was great making sure that each stop could accommodate our dietary needs. It was like the best progressive dinner ever, eating and drinking at different places with walking around the city mixed in between. Highly recommend!
