We’ve done a number of walking audio guides in different cities. This one was okay, but the mapping was out of sync a bit and not as easy to find places as we have experienced on others cities. It was still pleasant to do and we enjoyed the commentary.

Itinerary
We begin our walk in Bologna on one of the most characteristic streets by discovering a fantastic aspect of the city: its very long porticoes!
Its name already evokes the allure of the sea and the power of a god. But this Bolognese square is much more than that: a true microcosm encompassing history, art, culture and even a dash of gossip!
We find ourselves in the renowned Piazza Maggiore, the beating heart of Bologna, the result of a long and gradual process of transformation over the centuries. This space was originally intended for people’s meetings and commercial activities, serving as a hub for the city’s social and economic life.
The majestic façade of the Basilica of San Petronio certainly does not go unnoticed, with its obvious unfinishedness that almost seems to indicate a knife slashing through it. Its history is shrouded in mystery with stories that mix reality and legend. Let's discover everything!
Just a stone’s throw from the main square of the city we find one of the most representative historical places of Bolognese culinary culture.
A beautiful library (unfortunately not visited by tourists) but also a fantastic anatomy room and other rooms that can be visited for 3€.
Also known as the “Seven Churches Complex” although it is difficult to say what the true origin of this nickname is. The most credited hypothesis goes back to the initial design. Let's discover everything!
Bologna is full of peculiar stories and I couldn’t help but tell you the one about the three arrows! Let's talk about a famous legend of the city!
Also known as the Two Towers although they are not the same as those used in “Lord of the Rings” (sorry for the nerdy joke but I had to make it ) are an icon of the city and a must-see for anyone who visits. Unfortunately, they cannot be visited as the facilities are not safe for tourists. It is still worth seeing them up close!

This was a great tool. The narration and guide was very helpful. We had a day on our own to just explore the city. This guide really helped us out and was super easy to use.
We loved the self guided tour as we could do this at our leisure, stop when we wanted and take in more of the sites. Once you got the hang of navigating the app, it was very easy to follow.
A very easy process to book with fabulous communication by Walking Cap - almost instant. All the information needed in relation to the booking was sent promptly to WhatsApp with the opportunity to ask any questions. Information arrived promptly the evening before our tour with easy to use instructions on how to get the best our of the audio. Would highly recommend to anyone visiting Bologna
The app didn't work in German on my iPhone—or on my husband's, either. I tried opening the app in a different browser, but I couldn't log in because the code is valid for one-time use only. I messaged the provider via the WhatsApp number listed; his response was that the app worked fine for him. That’s pretty brazen. I didn't get my money back. I feel this borders on fraud. So, I cannot recommend the app.
Narrative was good but Google maps was not helpful. Better descriptions of route essential
Value for money for sure! Easy to find one of the 2 starting points. And good directions in writing and on your ears. You see the highlights on your own pace and not in a crowed group.
Great option for when you want to explore on your own pace. Since we only had a day in the city and wanted to squish everything in the plan, we followed the guide, but had some lunch and did some shopping in-between the stops. Easy to follow. You can listen AND read the information.
Great structured tour. Plenty of detail and short walks between attractions.
The Bologna Walking Tour was a great way to experience Bologna. We were taking the train from Florence to Bologna, and didn't know for sure what our timing would be - which meant that we really couldn't book a guided tour with confidence that we would make it on time. The. self-guided audio tour allowed us to set our own schedule, while still seeing (and hearing about) all the interesting sites in Bologna.
It is very well written, funny and informative, easy to follow and learn a bit about the unusual things in Bologna
Be autiful experience. I would like to advise this tour to people who need calm, freedom and many time.
The guide was very helpful, and the fact that you can do it at your own pace is a big advantage. We covered everything in 2 days. The restaurant recommendations and tips were very useful.
App is easy to use and leads you to a great placed :) happy with purchase !
Just the right length and amount of information to enjoy the city
Clear and easy to follow, with useful information. I would have liked more in-depth or links to more details. You need internet service and free wifi in Bologna is patchy.
Terrific audio guide! Definitely worth the price, clear and engaging. Nice job Matteo!!
This was a nice way to see Bologna on your own schedule. The audio tour was informative and hit many of the main historical points. What was really nice is that it also gave you the chance for detours to what you are most interested in….food, wine, etc. It was also a great value.
Gives you freedom to explore at your own speed
Excellent easy to use and informative
Very useful info for those who are new to the city
This walking tour was great! Very informative and easy to follow with interesting, optional side notes/recorded messages that dove deeper into the history of some of the sights. The direct links to the maps for walking directions were awesome! My sister and I wanted to explore Bologna at our own pace and this tour let us do that easily. We did the first half on our first day while stopping for coffees, lunch, shops, etc and then casually picked up where we left off on our second day. Highly recommend!
We enjoyed this audio guide we could listen to on our own schedule, and we really enjoyed the excellent map links to lead us to interesting secrets we would not have learned otherwise.
This was a great tour and great value tour to do on your own or with your own group of friends or family. You can start it whenever works and do it as quickly or as slowly as you want. We stopped for lunch along the way. We also did every extra side tour that was suggested or linked to. Overall it covered almost all of the sites in Bologna. The other couple of sites we just looked at ourselves on the way. We also loved all the history included in the guide. The organising company was very responsive and answered all our questions very quickly. We completed the tour in 4 hours including our lunch.
Great way to explore city if you want to do it at your own pace. It will walk you through the most important sights, while explaining their history.
Great side kick when wandering around. It was above my expectations, a lot of fun facts alongside the real ones. All the most important features are in the tour and you can start from wherever you like, tkae brakes when ypu want and go off rout then back gain, very useful.
A great tour. The webpage with the audio commentary was easy to follow alongside Google Maps. Some really insightful, and fun, information along some interesting stops
The guided tour was informative and good value for money. You find out the basic info about the most important sights, get tips about food and discover some less known fun facts. We also used the tour for Ferrara - they are really good if you want info but don’t want to book a live, more expensive, guided tour,
The tour was excellent, we saw the must see of the city and we laughed a lot with the commentary,(especially with the secret gem).Thank you Matteo❤️
Easy to download and understand history & explanations. Appreciated cultural details that highlighted historical aspects of city
East to download and follow. Very informative and gave us insight into beautiful city. Would definitely recommend to others
The tour was informative and well narrated. The app is not the easiest, though. My suggestion is to show the route so that you know where you are from stop to stop. Each time we moved to the next site, you had to find it and then navigate where you were in order to proceed. It got a bit frustrating.
My second time using the walking guide! Everything went great! It’ll be a third, fourth, fifth time…. in ogni città italiana.
Fantastic guide with great details on every location! Really helped us get the lay of the land in a new city and helped us find some places we would not have found without the guide
My wife and I decided to try the walking tour given our schedule and relatively short stay in Bologna. We enjoyed the rather “light” informational details and the easy to use links w Google maps. Could have used a bit more detail for some of the bigger locations.
We downloaded the Bologna walking tour yesterday. It is true, this is a walking tour. It gives you directions to major sites, and those directions are correct. However, the narrator for the English tour in Bologna definitely sounds AI generated, and the information has no historical depth whatsoever. We abandoned the tour after the first couple of stops. I wouldn’t waste your money on this one.
This tour is perfect for those who like to tour at their own pace. All the stops were perfectly described. Would recommend.
Great tour, we could do it in our own time spending more time in some places and less in others depending on what we were interested in. There were some hidden gems along the way which we thoroughly enjoyed! If you want a tour, without other tourists this is for you.
Cool experience! We loved that option to know new things and feeling free to follow our proper pace to visit the city. Even my friend who lives in Bologna since 2003 enjoyed it.
Perfect tour to do alone! Saw all the highlights and got great info on the city and its history! Got a little turned around but that was probably user error! Worked really well with our Bluetooth headphones! Definitely worth the money!
Made it easy to find the different places and the history was told in a informative and easy understandable way. The App was easy to use. I also liked that there was both Audio and written information.
Excellent value walking tour which took in all the local sites . Easy to find and negotiate our own way. And can stop off when you want .
Average at best, very surface level information, nothing more than a quick google search will give you. Also annoyingly the English version is voiced with AI with a southern American accent, including the names of the sites. Would not recommend.
It was a great walking tour that we could self pace and deviate if we wanted to. Thank you and good value for money. We particularly enjoyed the unexpected anecdotes
Such an incredible self-guided tour to Bologna!! We weren’t really in the mood to do a group tour, so when we came across this on booking.com, we decided to give it a go. We learned sooo much stuff we would otherwise not have learned about the city and especially loved the spicy insider tips, like what’s really going on at the statue in the Piazza del Nettuno 🤣🤣🤣 Would do it again in a heartbeat! Love how much I learned about the city in just a few hours.
It was easy to understand and was a good distance to cover given the time. It would have been nicer to have longer description for each stop or even have it be a continuous audiobook or podcast-style structure. The stop-and-start felt a bit clunky and broke up the experience.
Very interesting tour and easy to follow along. We enjoyed the walk under the porticos and all the information about the local foods
Was looking for self guided tour in Bologna. Found this was just the right level of detail and a nice option at a good price.
We were unable to find location of ‘White Cap’ after walking in heat for over an hour trying to find location both the start & the end, tried phoning number provided no answer, we gave up!! A complete waste of our time and money . Very disappointed, would like a refund
The only upside of this tour is that it gives you a list of all the noteworthy things to view in the city. The entire thing could easily be replicated by asking any AI to give you s your itself. The audio is extremely short (between 30 seconds and 1 minute at each stop). It does not add much context or give you much history. Further more it is recorded in a very robotic fashion and doesn't feel interesting or intriguing. Wouldn't recommend anyone getting this tour honnestly. Just load any pre-made list on Google maps on your phone and then ask Gemini or ChatGPT to give you a brief overview of every point of interest once you're there.
