Bologna Food Tasting Box- Audio Guided Tour With Food Tasting

Just okay. The food vouchers made you feel like a filthy tourist; while establishments weren’t unfriendly, neither were you greeted with any enthusiasm. The value of the vouchers was probably about £25. The guided tour comprised about 14 places and you were treated to 60 seconds of a rather drab audio commentary that ChatGPT wouldn’t care to put their name too. On the upside we got to try some unspeakably unpleasant Bolognian street food, the like of which I’ve never encountered in my 50 odd years of dirty-eating adventures. Well done on that, at least!

Low value for money. 7 coupons: 1. Coffee in a cafe: Not mentioned but only to go. Would not let us sit at their tables. 2.-3.-4. Small “sandwiches” from fast food places. 5. Cold platter with a glass of wine. Good experience. 6. Cookies at a bakery. “Free choice” but no choice. We could only choose one kind. 7. Chocolate: A very little - but good - tasting. Too expensive compared to the offered food. Approx you only receive value for half the price of the tour. And three take-away “sandwiches” are to much!

I love the idea, I love the town, and the young woman to attend us was very friendly and spoke excellent English. Three friendly suggestions: 1. Maybe I am a naive tourist, but to me Bologna is the town of Ragu, Lasagne and Tortellini. When doing a food tour, I would have expected anything like this. 2. Maybe you could redesign your map? It shows a clear walking-path alongside the main monuments. Aditionally it shows two dozens of restaurants. They dont necessarily correspond to the vouchers you get. So you stand in a busy hot square, and need to figure out which vouchers correspond to which places on what part of the tour. I would have appreciated a simple „walk to sight A, then stopp and use your voucher B, then walk to sight C, and so on 3. Check the availability of your partners. We got 7 vouchers for 6 places, out of which one was closed for Ferragosts and one didnt accept the voucher after 17:00 (the whole tour starts at 15:00). So we paid 35 per person for two sandwiches, a glass of wine and a shared cold cut. Hope you can fix some issuses. Its a great idea in a great town!

Great tour that I’d definitely recommend! My family, 2 adults and 2 children (ages 8 and 10) really enjoyed the flexibility of the experience. We were only in town a few hrs and wished we had more time to enjoy the audio features as well. The food servings were perfect portions and the locations were very easy to find. My only ‘wish’ is that one of the vouchers was not for a magnet (a bit out of the way so we didn’t go)…and the coffee is only available in the morning but they gave us a much appreciated bottle of water instead (very hot out so it was great!). The self-paced was exactly what we needed and I’ll definitely do other similar tours in the future.

We thought it would be fun to do a self-guided food tour at our own pace, but were left very disappointed at the quality of some of the food. The taglieri (cold meats) was excellent, as was the espresso and ice cream. But the mortadella and stuffed breads were just tacky fast foods. Not what we would have expected on the culinary capital of Italy!

Great idea. Self paced. Vouchers never go bad. Wonderful. Little booklet included a bunch of take away items and treats, a map, more recommendations and info audios.

Professional introduction to the city by a young woman fluent in English. She made it very clear how to locate the different places we were going to visit that day-with a map and individual coupons with QRC. Very easy to find. Food was amazing. Very flexible for us and the coupons never expire. The vendors at the food places treated us very special and we made other purchases in addition to enjoying the small bites. I really loved the places where we ate and appreciate the tourism department making it easy for foreigners. Thank you

This was a lot of fun and great value. We were late by an hour and they were very nice and accommodating to meet us later. Study the map as some tastings are close to each other. The gelato was the farthest away so we stopped on the way out of town. More than enough food!

It's a very nice why to discover Bologna and its culinary traditions! You can take your time, since it's a self guided tour, with audioguides to discover the main monuments or point of interest in the city center, and food tasting vouchers that you can use in bar and restaurants along the itinerary. I highly recommend it :)

The guide was amazing! Polite, knowledgeable, and so kind! We only made it to 3 places and were stuffed! Planning another day to shop and tantalize our palettes!

Different types of foods. No pasta. Breads, balsamic vinegars, morsels sanchwiches, pizzas, gelatos. All were delicious.

I liked this tour because we got to explore on our own. All of the venues we stopped at were welcoming and the tastings were yummy. I suggest doing the 9 am start since a lot of things close in the afternoon here. We split our adventure over 2 days. Some places where challenging to find from the paper map. We learned that the numbers on one side of the street do not correspond to the numbers in the other so be sure you are on the correct side of the street when walking to a place using the address.

We could do this on our own time no pressure no one to follow. Got to see fish markets, cheese markets, bread, markets, very, very enjoyable, chocolate delicious.

This was such a brilliant way to discover the city and taste some local treats along the way! I would recommend this to anyone.

A great way to taste the highlights of Bologna at your own pace. I loved that they provided you a map with suggested walking route to both eating spots and monuments. I was crunched on time in Bologna so this took the thinking work out of planning my day.

We did not receive vouchers for the advertised food tastings. Received one more voucher than the six promised but did not get cheese, wine, or coffee vouchers. Map was helpful and informative about the sites. The sites stops had numbers and the food stops had letters. The site and food stops didn’t correspond with each other. For example site (1) had food stops (h), (a), (b), (n), and (l). Many more food stops than vouchers so it was a bit more complicated lining up the food stops. The food stops we made were enjoyable but a bit more organization of tour would make it better.

Absolutely fantastic. Great value for money and a lovely way to explore. The stops were great and the amount of food we had was enough to get us thru the day. Plus the tower visit was a great extra (if a bit of a challenge after the wine and ice cream!) Highly recommended.

Various tours leave at 10.30am, so the guides are overworked and you have to wait in the cold for the other trips to be organised. I would advise the organizers to provide differentiated departure times. The map is not very clear, because everything is concentrated in the center. The idea is good, but be careful about changing the one provided in the vouchers! Ask for prices first

Beautiful experience, we tried many local products while visiting the city. Through a QR code you can also listen to various audios explaining the various monuments along the way! Really helpful!

Personally I really liked the idea of the map of Bologna where they suggest the attractions to visit, even those off the itinerary. The vouchers in the box do not expire and this is very useful for those who decide to spend a few more days in Bologna. New experience absolutely to try!

The box contains a map of Bologna with a suggested itinerary that includes the main attractions, of which you can listen to the audio guide via a QRcode, and 7 food points that provide 7 tastings in some of the most famous shops in the city. Tastings are very varied, both savoury and sweet and also the vouchers have no expiration date so one can freely carry out the tour in several days. What about, super recommended experience!

One of the most beautiful things on the road is discovering the typicality of the place, shops and places to immerse yourself in the culinary culture of the place. We did this thanks to the food tasting box of Bologna tour, basically consists of a package selected by them with vouchers that can be used to taste and do tastings in the center of Bologna in places of excellent quality. In addition, you can use them in complete autonomy by managing them according to your needs. For example, we divided them between lunch and dinner and we had a great time! The box is delivered by hand in the center by one of the very good guys of Bologna tour, absolutely Recommended!!

Inside the food tasting box we found a map of the city that indicated a recommended route to the highlights to visit and the places where to do tastings. The tastings are included in the price and we collected them with the vouchers inside the box. Among the tastings, excellent tortellini and wine! An original and fun way to taste the typical products and tour the city with our times but with a path that helps you find your way! I hope it will be available in other cities soon! Absolutely recommended!
