Esteban and Alfonso were excellent guides for this tour. They were very knowledgeable and ensured that everything was well-executed. The visits to Guatavita and Guatavita Lagoon were beautiful, providing great cultural context for the region. We had visited the Museo del Oro the day prior, so everything tied in well. Lunch in Zipaquirá was at a nice restaurant and consisted of a tasty traditional Colombian plate. The subsequent visit to Catedral de Sal was incredible. We had plenty of time to explore the beautiful chambers and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

Well planed tour, guide Steven was very knowledgeable, helpful throughout the tour. I am 70 years old, was having difficulty to climb, he stayed whole time with me. Over all I would highly recommend thi tour.
This is a mixed bag for me: Guatavita Lagoon 👍 but Zipaquira Salt Cathedral👎. Our guide and driver were excellent and we enjoyed our time with them... which -- because of the horror that is Bogota traffic and Colombia's healthy democracy -- was more than we anticipated. Guatavita Lagoon. This is a must see place and it is a good place to see where many historical events took place... seeing this place put into better context the items in the Museo de Oro. Note that it is a steepish hike at altitude...coca tea before helps... but the views and flowers and the Lagoon are worth the breathlessness. I saw three orchids in bloom in November and two hummingbirds. It is a schlep to get to but the drive... once the traffic clears... is pretty. Zipaquira Salt Cathedral. I was skeptical from the pictures but everyone said it was a must see but i don't agree. The devotion of the people who cut it is admirable but it is a Cathedral in ecclesiastical distinction only. It was drab and after you've seen three crosses, not crucifixs just plain crosses... cut into the mine wall, you've seen them all. Listen, I'm not one to yuck anyone's yum, but besides the very interesting statue at the entrance, there wasn't much of interest here. Also, the tour guide did not go with us... he gave us the site's audio guide... but that was so ponderously narrated and seemed to include narrative back to the time of the Myuasquas that it was not bearable. Given the length of the drive, the juice was not worth the squeeze. More hype than reality I'm sorry to say.
The Cathedral is awesome. Very unique and well worth seeing. Estevan is very good guide. You will need to be in good shape for the lagoon hike
First, the agency contacted us in advance to let us know that the laguna would be closed for maintenance and offered us another date. Since we could not change the date, they offered other options to make the tour terrific. Our guide Esteban and driver Mauricio were fantastic. We enjoyed talking to them during the car ride about life in Colombia. We visited La Casa Loca, an upside down house, which was a lot of fun. We visited the town of Guatavita and learned about the significance of the laguna to the indigenous culture. We also toured the Salt Cathedral, which was a must see sight. I do not like underground spaces but I could tolerate this one. The amount of preparation and dedication that went into making the entire space was phenomenal. Esteban and Mauricio attended to our every need on the tour and made sure that we had a wonderful experience.

Great tour. We had a great time. Our tour guide was great. We enjoyed visiting the Guatavita and Zipaquira. We highly recommend this tour.
We went into this tour with little research as we like to be surprised when traveling. This tour greatly exceeded our expectations. Esteban was a fantastic guide. Our favourite part was the Lagoon. It has an incredible history and reminded me of a micro version of hiking the Inca trail. The salt cathedral was also very impressive. The tour was punctual and professional and the lunch was much nicer than expected. Overall, a fantastic experience! Gracias!
Wonderful day trip out of the city. The lagoon and history was fantastic. The lunch was delicious and very generous portions. The audio tour of the salt cathedral was very informative and it was nice to go at our own pace.
Wonderful way to spend the day! Guatavita was interesting to walk around. The hike to the lagoon was full of beautiful flowers and the lagoon was breathtaking. The salt cathedral has each of the stations of the cross. It was a unique experience especially when you realize all the work that went into carving inside a salt mine.
Lorena was an awesome guide. She took us to the charming old town, then for a hike to see the lagoon, and finally to the Salt Cathedral. Lunch was a tasty bbq of pork and beef. Our driver was great too!
The trip was a nice experience … the guide tour Camilla was able to substitute another guide tour asap and to save my trip and she was extremely knowledgeable . She was always careful and detailed oriented to make this experience wonderful . I did not appreciate the pressure to shop in their friends’ stores and I will suggest to avoid that feeling … the food place was a particular experience …
Very good and complete tour. Highly recommended because you get to see two amazing places in one day. Our guide Esteban and driver Emilio were good, friendly and knowledgeable, and I appreciate the fact they did not try to sell you stuff plus Esteban had raincoats for us at the Laguna which came in handy. Lunch provided was tasty. All very good!
Our guide Esteban was absolutely amazing! We started our adventure at the Guatavita Lagoon. Esteban was so knowledgeable about the area and our park's guide helped us identify the flora around this spectacular place! The hike up to the lagoon is filled with wonderful views and fantastic information about the floral that is indigenous to the area. We need to preserve this! We were totally Wowed! We were able to taste some of the local snacks with an incredible lunch as well! Upon arrival at the Zipaquira Salt Cathedral, Esteban was very clear on how we would navigate this site on our own and would meet us at the end. He helped us understand the history and how important this site is to the Colombian people. This site is well worth a visit! We were Wowed all over again! I would highly recommend this tour and Esteban!
Our guide and driver were the nicest people. Camila was very knowledgeable and Guillermo made us feel safe through Bogotá traffic. The hike to the lagoon was beautiful and was the highlight of the day.
Excellent tour! I had a great time exploring both the salt mines and Guatavita. The guides Mauricio and Esteban were very knowledgeable.
Samantha and Guillermo are two of the best guides around. Great food, scenes, incredibly knowledgeable of the area and history.
It was a wonderful trip to the laguna de CACIQUE! Everything is well organized and you you will get a lot of information concerng the muisca! The Salt cathedral is interesting as well - but its more like a Party- at least on a sunday ! They even had a Band playing music there! But its nice!
A great day made even better by the attention we received from Camila and Emilio. Camila is very knowledgeable and took her time to explain everything from the Colombian history to the Fauna and Flora encountered in Guatavita Lagoon. The Salt Cathedral is a must see when visiting Colombia, it is just simply majestic, we will both remember this trip for many years to come. Thank you Camila and Emilio.
Loved both the Guatavita Lagoon and the Zipaquira Salt Cathedral. It was interesting to learn about the history of the Guatavita Lagoon area and about Muisca culture and mythology. The three naves of the Salt Cathedral were a sight to behold. Our guide, Alejandra, did a terrific job of translating the ranger's presentation at Guatavita Lagoon. Alejandra and our driver, Emilio, both took very good care of us and made sure our needs were attended to.
Wonderful trip. The lagoon hike was a little slow, with a lot of explanation for a relatively short hike. However, the salt cathedral was worth the trip on its own. Very unique and cool experience.
The Salt Cathedral is quite an unique experience - a nature walk up to the beautiful Guatvita Lagoon with a very knowledgeable local guide (spanish only)....
Our tour guide was Estaban and he was such an amazing guide! I'm so grateful for him! He was very knowledge and very kind man. Having a private tour is way better then being in a group. The restaurant he took us had such an amazing atmosphere and delicious food! The lagoon and Cathedral is a must see in Colombia. Cathedral definitely surprised us because it has its own world. Lagoon was definitely so interesting to learn of its history. I honestly think you'll have such a great time with this private tour! You won't get great experience with a group tour or on your own.
The tour was definitely worth it. Esteban and Guillermo picked us up on the car right in front of our hotel, and we had a private ride for the whole day. We visited Guatavita town, Laguna de Guatavita - the birthplace of El Dorado legend, and one of the top Colombian wonders - Salt Cathedral of Zipaquirá. Colombian lunch was also included :) Esteban guided us and shared lots of information. The car was very comfortable, and we weren't tired even after such a busy day. Thank you, Esteban and Guillermo!
We had a great time. The drive thru the country side is lovely, The Salt Cathedral was outstanding to visit and the walk at the Lagoon was easy and relaxing with all the beautiful nature around. We opted for the private tour and spent a bit more rather than sitting on the bus with many other people. Alejandra our guide and Emilio our driver where really engaging, obliging and kind people. We can highly recommend this tour if you are a relaxed traveller and leave high expectations at home.
It was awesome, both places were amazing and our guide Esteban and driver Guillermo were so knowledgeable and fun, they just made the whole experience super nice. this tour is 100% recomendable. We had a great time.
Our tour guide, Diego, was so knowledgeable and very engaging. The driver, Em, was a great driver. Because of them, our tour was very pleasant and we've learned a lot about Columbia and its culture.
This was one of the greatest adventures in a subterranean mine I've ever had! I have worked in the mining industry, so I am familiar with some of the attributes of a subterranean mine. What's makes it special are the stations of the cross. Each of the stations is carved out of the subterranean mining walls and ceilings. The beauty is phenomenal! I really enjoyed the tour. The only negative thing I can say is that it is very commercial. As a Christian, If a person were able to take their time and go through the mine on a "spiritual walk" it would have been VERY moving. All in all, it was a great site to see, and I would definitely recommend a visit. The little town of Zipaquira is a quaint little town that dates back to the late 1500s and is evident in it’s architecture. We spent quite a bot of time exploring the city and enjoying it’s fine traditional Colombian Cuisine.
The lake at Guatavita was stunning and we loved learning about the history and connection to El Dorado. We had the best time on this tour, our guide and driver were excellent.
I had a wonderful time with my guide, Camila, and driver Juan. Despite the altitude, the hike to la laguna de Gautavita was a breeze because we took it slow. It was a beautiful lesson in indigenous culture, ecology of the area, and efforts to rehabilitate and preserve the natural flora. We stopped for a traditional lunch of ajiaco con puerco y carne, which was delicious and filling, and had some incredible arepas and empanadas along the way. The main event, el Catedral de sal, exceeded expectations. It’s a beautiful space to take in the devotion, skill, and sacrifice of the miners who worked there and built the space, and the artisans who have added to it. I appreciated having options of both an English audio guide and an in-person English guide. Camila and Juan were both gracious and kind. Cami especially was full of knowledge and recommendations beyond the tour. I appreciated spending the day experiencing a small part of beautiful Colombia.
This is a Perfect and Amazing experience! We had the chance to share it with Leslie( our guide so sweet and warm) and Miguel ( our driver) he made the trip fun, this is an amazing experience! Highly recommend to this! 💓☀️
Excellent tour, the place is wonderful the facilities for tourists are great Available translation Available shopping inside the place
Amazing trip and great service. The tour guide and the driver really didi everything they could to make us enjoy the experience
My driver (Guillermo) and guide (Camila) were incredibly friendly, funny, and knowledgeable. Not only do you get to see the lake and salt cathedral, but sweeping Mountain Views and small towns and is a great way to get out of the city. As a solo female traveler I felt perfectly safe. This excursion was definitely th best part of my whole trip and I can’t recommend it highly enough!
Such a great tour! We really enjoyed it! We have two small children, and the guide was very attentive and helpful to our needs with the children.
This tour is absolutely unforgettable and is definitely worth your time. Guests will be able to see the natural beauty of Colombia, learn about its history, and witness the monumental achievement that is the Salt Cathedral. Esteban and Mauricio were exceptional as tour guides and really welcoming. Highly recommend for anyone traveling abroad!
This tour was beyond our expectations. Esteban and Mauricio were exceptional as their roles in tour guides and we shared a lot of memories during the trip. Everything from the village, food, and nature, illustrates the beauty and uniqueness of Colombia. Highly recommend for any local or tourist.
The story about the Guatavita lagoon was impressive, the sightseeing's around it was marvelous. a fresh breath of air!
Estaban was our guide and John our driver. John is an excellent driver and we never felt at risk, even though the traffic is horrible. Estaban is a great guide. We loved our day at both the sacred lake and salt cathedral. One tip, wear good hiking type shoes and be ready for a lot of steps in both places. But the steps are worth it
This was an amazing trip. Learned the true meaning of El dorado. The lagoon and berries were awesome and the guide was terrific. The salt cathedral was amazing.
Excellent tour and our tour guides were the best. Xiomara and Pedro were wonderful. We loved the entire experience. Thank you.
The two sites are interesting and very different. The cathedral is a wonder with interesting architecture. The lagoon has an important history and is a natural wonder. This private tour was perfect for our group. We were comfortable in a minivan and were able to dictate our timing at each location, within reason of course. Traditional Columbian lunch was provided and our guide Xiomara was very personable, enthusiastic, and helpful.
Outstanding!!, tour guide and driver came to pick us right on time in our Hotel and we had an excellent time, our tour guide was excellent, she help us and explain us everything we ask, very nice person, we could not ask for a better tour guide.
Esteban was such a kind and gracious host. What a wonderful time my wife and I had traveling to the salt mine and lagoon.
The driver and guide was so nice and friendly The great was great it was a full day tour. The lagoon was so nice
It was an amazing experience going to Guatavita Lagoon and the Zipaguira Salt Cathedral. We had an amazing, helpful, very kind, and very beautiful tour guide Xioma. I will definitely recommend this tour destinations and tour guide to my family, relatives, friends, and co-workers.
Great tour. The cathedral is a must see for anyone. The lake and town you visit are amazing. Our guides were excellent. The food was amazing.
The tour was great! We were able to see some of the most beautiful sites Colombia has to offer and our guide, Diego Castillo, was friendly, knowledgeable and fun. Would definitely recommend!
A really great tour, going to to it again in January! Stopped at a few places on the way, as well as a good restaurant!
My girlfriend and I booked this tour after visiting the Museo del Oro (Gold Museum) in Bogota. We had a great time. The hike to the top of the mountain wasn’t too strenuous and there were plenty of stops to look at different plants and shrubs. The underground cathedral was amazing as well. Our tour guide Viviana was amazing. She was very helpful and shared a lot of information concerning details related to the events we were doing. Our driver was punctual and the whole ride was very scenic and relaxing. The tour included a stop at a local restaurant. The food was amazing and was very tasty. If you’re looking for a full days trip in the surrounding areas of Bogota, we highly recommend this tour. You will not be disappointed.
