We were picked up precisely on time by Camilo who then drove the three of us to Guatavita town for a coffee before going on to Guatavita lake. Camilo was a mine of interesting information. We didn’t book lunch - as our daughter is veggie - so we returned to Bogotá after the (fairly short) walk up to the lake.

It was an amazing tour! The altitude and footing made the ascent to the viewing points above the lake quite the challenge, but it was well worth it. Our guide could not have been better.
The tour by Grand Columbia Tours was well organized - pick up time, everything as scheduled. Our guid Jose was awesome - very knowledgable and personable. The walk inside the park was guided by their own spanish speaking guide, and Jose was at first teanslating, but then just took it over for us, telling stories about the lake, explaining the plants, geology end everything else. Overall - great experience. I would reccomend this tour with this particular guide, without him it could be a different experience.
This was a really enjoyable day out. The countryside was beautiful, Guatavita village is pretty, Guatavita lake is absolutely stunning, and the lunch was excellent. Sarai was a really good guide, friendly and enthusiastic about what she was showing us. (Our driver, however, drove very aggressively and at times unsafely - hence only 4 stars.) My only advice for future tourists is don't expect a long 'hike'. We were in the nature reserve for about 2 hours, but 1 hour of that was basically standing still being told (interesting) stuff, and the other was at a slow pace with plenty of stops - needed because of the altitude (2920m at the start of the walk, 3070m at the end - about 400m higher than Bogotá). I live at sea level and I was still struggling with the altitude on my 3rd day in the city, so I appreciated the slow pace. I would definitely recommend the day to others
The lake is wonderful, the traditional food at the restaurant also amazing, the path to the lake is among the nature, the explanation about the history of indigenous people and visiting a characteristic ceremonial house of them were spectacular
This tour exceeded our expectations! It was excellent! Yelitza was an amazing guide! Her knowledge and experience were so helpful for us to understand everything that we were seeing. We learned so much thanks to her!! Jorge our driver was also excellent, very cautious and polite. I would definitely book this tour again and recommend it to anyone that visits! 5 out 5 stars!
Our parents are close to 80 years of age and were unsure of capacity to climb to reservoir. Guide walked at their pace and kept us informed of their tour. Our parents felt accomplished and content. Great experience, would have not done it without your guide.
Excellent tour. The guide was amazing. He made sur to personalize the guide to my needs. I would recommend this tour for sure.
Our guide was great. We enjoyed the hike to see Lake Guatavita even though it rained. Visiting the quaint town of Guatavita was nice, we had a good lunch there.
Nat is a brilliant guide, helpful, knowledgeable, kind and clear. On time, prepared, lots of great tips for the tour itself and Bogota in general. Highly recommend!
Was a great tour, we had Juan Carlos who was a great guide and very informative of the history, we were picked up from our hotel, and stopped on the way to see various points of Interest! Recommend.
We enjoyed the entire journey with Gustavo (driver) and Korin (tour guide)! They were both delightful. We greatly enjoyed the tour at Laguna Guatavita. So much natural beauty and history. Loved the entire experience! Thank you!!
The tour to the lake was very enjoyable. Seeing the countryside outside the city. Learning the history of Guatavita. My guide Nataly was excellent and the docent at the lake was very knowledgeable. Excellent experience.
Excellent guide Leslie and driver Gustavo. Beautiful village. Interesting, wonderful and spiritual experience following the trail to the lake. Very nice included traditional lunch.
Because we liked the Bogata city tour we had with Daniel so much, we were happy that he was available to do this tour. Daniel met us at our hotel, and the driver, Fernando, picked us up, and took the scenic route to Guatavita. The lake is on land belonging to the indigenous Muisca, and our tour was conducted by a Muisca guide, with Daniel translating. Unfortunately (if you’re a retired teacher like I am) there were two school buses of students also on the tour. The guide’s focus was mainly on the students, but the hike, flora, and views made up for it. We did learn through the guide and Daniel about the origin of El Dorado, the many countries trying to gain riches by enslavement, exploitation and disregard for land and it people. After, Daniel took us to an excellent restaurant in town for lunch. The region is known for trout, and that’s what we had. The meal was delicious, and it was a day we’ll spent.
Enjoyed the view at Guatavita as well as the town close by. Lunch was great. Lisette was knowledgeable and answered all of our questions. We loved our experience and definitely recommend the tour!
We chose a private Guatavita tour and it was well worth the time and money. David was our guide and he was a delight. He was very enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the history of the area. He also encouraged us to discuss and ask questions about anything and everything. This allowed us to really get to learn about Colombia and the culture. I brought a book because I thought I’d have down time in the car, but I don’t think we stopped speaking the entire day. We made a pit stop on the way up and had a chance for refreshments and a couple of photos. At Laguna de Guatavita, we followed a larger group that was Spanish only, but David conducted everything in English. The hike to the lagoon was a little more work that I expected. So start working on your cardio now! But it was absolutely beautiful and worth the increased BPM. After the hike, we stopped at the parking area and purchased a couple of trinkets and bought arepas. They were the best arepas of my entire life. I had two! Afterwards we headed to lunch. The views couldn’t be beat and we continued to have good conversation. Last we stopped in New Guatavita. Honestly, I could have spent an entire afternoon there. It is a charming little town and we happened to be there when a festival was happening. It was a full day, but so worth it and the time really flew by. We were picked up and dropped off by our driver, Juan David. He wasn’t as talkative as David, but we did get a chance to practice his English a little bit. I definitely recommend Gran Colombian tours. Easy to book and quality experience.
This was a really great trip for us with Gerardo. The drive through the countryside to The village, then the lagoon hike was a one-of-a kind experience with incredible views and guided history or the area and indigenous culture, capped off with delicious local arepas straight off the grill. Highly recommend this day trip!
Lake Guatavita was a great experience, thee only thing was instead our driver and tour guide use a GPS they decided to take each others recomendations and it tooked us 3 hours 1/2 to get there when it should have been no more de 2 hours, coming back it only took 1 hour 40 minutes.
The Tour Guide was excellent, excellent, excellent! He thought of everything and was very knowledgeable!
The lake was interesting, the town wasn’t. The tour is required to stay with a local guide speaking only Spanish, she talked with many unnecessary stops with our English speaking guide unable to translate her speeches. Our guide was not able to translate the long local guide speeches except for broken English- she searched for English words continually. Our guide spoke with our driver in Spanish to and from the lake, sleeping in the car! I advised her to speak to the park administrator to allow access without the Spanish local guide but was told it was impossible. The walk through the lake park was nice, but was turned off by the guides.
Our guide Daniel was very very informative and a wonderful ambassador for Colombia! The view of the lake was magnificent.
The place is amazing. It's unforgettable moment to have a trip there. Luis is the best. He have us the good services. Great job!
We had wonderful experience with our tour guide Luis and our driver Edwin! Luis explained everything there is to know (and some more!) about the lake and the city of Guatavita, we learned a lot about the history and the culture. Also, he really looking out for us, make sure we are comfortable and have the best experience out of the tour! Mil gracias Luis & Edwin!
Alejandro and Carlos were a great team! We loved the drive, learning about the culture, and enjoying a local lunch. Beautiful day out of Bogotá.
This tour was absolutely fantastic!! Luis was my guide and he did a great job! Luis explained the history of the lake and answered all my questions. Carlos was the driver and he is so sweet! I did the lunch option and I would highly recommend it! This tour is great for solo travelers, couples, and groups. You won’t want to miss this!!
You have to see this place, beautiful! Bring your own water and snacks, as with an tourist attraction they are not cheap here. Warning, due to covid, You will only be able to see it from above, the Lakeside path is blocked off
The Graffiti Tour was awesome. Some of the art is amazing! Free Walking Tour is insightful with numerous stops..big fan of chica! Laguna de Guatavita was unbelievable, especially if you enjoy history and nature. The tour was in Spanish but there is a lady who was able to translate and willing to answer any questions. Also had a good chat with Jesus (the dude in charge to take you there and back). Amazing lunch stop off on the way back. Highly recommend eating Ajiaco! Both tours are good. Definitely recommend Laguna de Guatavita, highly memorable.
We had a lovely time with Juan. Super professional but lots of fun! Informative and kind - taught us about Guatavita and the history of Colombia. As well as giving us good local recommendations too for our stay in Bogotá. Thank you!
We weren’t sure what to expect with the ever changing weather in Bogota and Andes Mountains but it was a great tour! Our guide Luis wasn’t feeling his best (think he was sick) but he knew we were in town for only 2 days and wanted to ensure we didn’t miss the trip. Even though he wasn’t feeling well, he pushed through and did the hike with us, translated and showed us a great time! He was so knowledgeable of the area and the history of the Lake and Muisca tribe it allowed us to really take it all in! We passed through some farmland on the way down and got to meet some cows and chickens. Afterwards he took us to a restaurant for lunch and with my vegan dietary restrictions worked with the restaurant to ensure I had yummy options! I would definitely recommend this tour group and Luis to other people.
Juan Carlos and Jadira were great company on a full day to a beautiful destination!. The park is worth a visit if you find yourself in Bogotá.
Pick up punctual, good driving, excellence in the explanation from Carlos Rovela. The tourist guide at the Guatavita lake was very deep and funny on the explanation related to the Muisca Culture and the leyend of the "El Dorado" which is one of the most important leyends on the Colombian History. After that we went to the village and there are many nice restaurants, and you can eat a lot of desserts and nice cofee
Guatavita lake is well worth the adventure if you want to get out and see the country-side of Colombia and learn about the traditions of the Muisca people who are the indigenous population of Bogotá. David, our tour guide, was full of insights about the area and answered all of our questions. The lake itself is beautiful after a great walk through the bush and up the
We were so lucky to see one of the world’s most significant places in the Indigenous culture of Latin America - long before colonialism. The meaning and symbolism of the ritualistic practice of giving gold to the lake is commonly referred to as El Dorado. David our Guide was a tremendous source of knowledge and also great fun. The town near the lake is a hidden treasure as well. Great eco/tourism. Strongly recommend.
Great tour about Colombian history of "El Dorado" Beautiful Laguna and good exercise going up to the point to watch the Laguna
Such a great tour learning about Colombian history in Bogotá. The history of "El Dorado" encompasses more than you think at first. Luciani was a fun and upbeat guide throughout and helped clarify the points I wasn't clear on!
José was a great guide, explained very well and was very informative, helpful and careful. You can tell he enjoys his job. Kudos for his work and Carlos our driver as well
Excellent day out but mainly because of Anghelica(maybe spelt wrong)..she answered all my questions at ease and went out of her way to make the day as fun and informative as possible highlighting how wonderful Bogotan people are..highly recommended and Thanks to Anghelica..tried Aquardiente and Andres dc too 👍😁
Juan Camilo the guide and Felipe the driver EXCELLENT, kind, punctual. I had a problem with the date and they changed the tour day for me without any major issue. The restaurant where we ate in Guatavita was very delicious
The experience with Camilo has been incredible. We have felt very comfortable with him. Camilo has shown great knowledge about all the topics of the visit and we have had very interesting conversations throughout the trip. Absolutely recommended to do it with him
I had a wonderful experience on the tour to Laguna de Guatavita. Andrés was an excellent guide, very friendly and attentive throughout the tour. I found the history of the lagoon fascinating, and overall it was a unique experience that really paid off. I am so glad I stayed an extra day to live it!
We had a great time with Gerald! He explained everything very well and we learned many very interesting things. It was half a day and it was excellent! The beautiful lagoon, highly recommended the tour.
It was very beautiful!!! Spectacular scenery, Camilo who was our guide was excellent throughout the journey and tour both in the lagoon and in the village. We really liked it, we are very happy to have taken that Tour😃😃
I really liked the tour, I had to go with Camilo and it was very attentive. He picked us up at the hotel, explained things about life in Bogotá and was pointing things out on the way to Guatavita. In the village we passed a coke tea and climbed the Lagoon. Back the food was very rich and hearty. He dropped us off at the airport and showed us the door to move on to boarding. All very well! Thank you very much
Everything was excellent from the pick-up to the explanations given by Camilo our driver and guide. I would repeat it without a doubt!
The tour was very good, what we liked most was that our guide was very nice, he waited for us the necessary time to take photos, he answered our questions, we recommend the tour.
Firstly, I thank our guide Yelitza, since without her motivation I would not have been able to finish climbing the mountain 😂 it was my first hiking tour. Both places, the stories, the legends are fascinating! We chose the included lunch option; delicious. We loved everything!!!
The visit to the Laguna de Guatavita was a very pleasant experience knowing the true Legend of the Golden. The data provided by the guide on medicinal and ancestral uses were very interesting as well as the connection with Muisca culture around plants and sacred ritual in the lagoon. The typical lunch was excellent and the tour of Guatavita village was quite enriching, in addition to the Tomine Reservoir and its interesting history around the flooding of the ancient village. Great Agency Service! Very punctual and friendly from when we were picked up at the hotel until the return to Bogota! Fully recommended.
