We were offered the chance to go to another farm closer to the city to maximise our time at the farm, for which we were very glad. The farm was beautiful we were hosted by the owner and family as well as the farm manager and our guide. We were shown all stages of the farming process from sprouting seedlings, to planting, maintaining, to harvesting, washing, sorting, drying, all done on the farm, the roasting process was also explained though not done at the farm. We were able to experience parts of the process ourselves by picking and sorting the beans. It was a beautiful walk through the farm our guide Gigio and Manuel the manager were very knowledgeable and passionate, they answered all our questions and more. We got to taste the coffee produced on the farm and we were able to purchase some to take home. Our guide then took us to a local restaurant for lunch where we discussed the experience further. Truly a wonderful breathtaking experience.

Itinerary
In our Bogotá coffee tour experience, you will travel 1.5-hour from Bogotá going down the mountains to another state located 1,720 meters above sea level. At this altitude, the cold weather of Bogotá changes into a temperate and damp climate, which are optimal conditions for growing coffee. This coffee state is similar in architecture and traditions found at the Colombian coffee axis, where coffee plantations and production sites are still operating. During your visit, you will tour the orchid gardens, learn about temperate weather vegetation and enter the heart of a dense coffee crop. You can collect coffee beans with our own hands, and see both traditional, and industrial processes from the seed to the cup. After, you will have the chance to taste a freshly brewed coffee, which is the result of the whole process you have experienced. Once you finish, you will have a break and eat a great typical lunch before returning to Bogotá.

I had a day to do something different in Bogota before my friends arrived, so I arranged a solo trip to the coffee plantations. I was prepared for the 2 hour drive each way and bad traffic as described, the time went by very quickly because the wonderful guide Gigio gave a very extensive and detailed lecture on the history of Columbia, he has an encyclopedic brain and explains things very well in clear English. Viewing the city and countryside over the mountains was socially interesting and beautiful in the urban paths and green hills. The guide at Haciena Coloma was kind and took time to explain everything well, they are a smaller "boutique" company that cares for the coffee production themselves at every stage, so you can see clearly how coffee is grown and processed, I learned a lot! They have convinced me to go back to grinding beans and avoiding additives, so it is a life changing tour :). They have a nice shop with a chance to get and try coffee liquor and some craft gifts. I learned so much and had a nice typical "high calorie" common meal on the way back, learning about the traditional meals at a typical restaurant. The driver Andreas was very good and kept us safe, I can recommend this tour to anyone!
Overall, the tour was wonderful! We were picked on on time at our hotel by our driver. However, our driver did not speak English (and unfortunately, we don' speak too much Spanish). The drive was friendly, respectful and seemed very nice, but it was a 2.5 hour drive out (with traffic) so a total of 5 hours in a car without any additional information about Bogota, Colombia or the areas we were driving through or entertainment, which was a bit disappointing. We were the only ones on the bus so we were comfortable and felt like the driver drove safely. Also, we stopped for lunch after the tour which was delicious, but it wasn't until almost 6 hours after being picked up, so we were pretty hungry- recommend either bringing snacks or asking the driver to stop before the coffee farm tour for a snack! As far as the Hacienda Coloma- The Hacienda Coloma tour guide was great- pleasant and knowledgeable (and spoke English very well!) and took us around the garden and showed us the entire process of coffee from bean to cup. It was beautiful and great! However, we thought that we would be able to taste a few different coffee varieties during the tour itself and/or be offered additional opportunities to taste the liquor (they brought us to the barrels and had us smell them but did not let us taste them so it felt a bit teasing). At the end of the tour you are offered a cup of black coffee and a small taste of a liquor (but no option of milk or espresso). When we arrived they started our tour right away, but due to the long drive, we wish also there was an option of having a coffee and or a snack (even for purchase) prior to the tour. (FYI- There is no food served there at all, even for purchase so bring snacks). If we had had kids with us, the tour would have been ok for kids as well but def bring snacks/food/water for kids with you! So all in all a good tour, we would recommend! But it would have been better if the driver could have given us information or if the tour could have paired us up with someone else in the car that speaks English, it would have been great!
The grounds of the Hacienda Coloma were spectacular. Our two young kids enjoyed the tour as well, picking the coffee beans, and holding a rooster.
Nice day trip to get to know colombia better outside the city. We were picked up at the hotel on time by a nice driver. At the coffee farm the process was explained to us in an understandable way. Besides the coffee, the exotic plants are also very impressive. The included food on the way was also very good. Kind regards from Switzerland.
5/5! We had the most informative tour, with brilliant guide Raul Pøsse and organised by Rodrigo Atuesta. We covered parts of the city we would never have known about and talked about all things cultural, political with much humour along the way! Raul not only took us to the ‘tick box’ experiences but to the real Bogotá. It was a privelege to have met him and Impulse. I booked several tours with impulse in Cartagena after our brilliant experience in Bogotá. I couldn’t recommend them enough.
Had a great time! Originally I was skeptical about the price of the trip but once you realize you are getting a private car it is well worth it! Once there you are greeted with friendly and knowledgeable people, the staff at Hacienda Coloma was amazing and they teach you not only how they process coffee but also why they do it that way! When setting up the tour as for Emilio, thank me later
We had a great time at the Coloma coffee farm! The booking was easy and we were picked up at our hotel in Bogota. Our guide Paula was really great. She and the guide from Coloma showed us all of the different flowers and trees around the farm, which were beautiful, before showing us about the coffee making process and tasting coffee at the end. Would definitely recommend!
It was an awesome day going to Coloma Farm about 2 hours south of Bogota. The drive south was very interesting seeing the rest of the city and the scenery after getting out of the city was spectacular. The driver was awesome amongst the chaotic traffic in Bogota. The coffee plantation was awesome and the guy giving the tour Julien was very knowledgeable and informative. But the best part of this tour was the guide from Impulse Travel Andrea. She was super friendly, informative and just a lovely person. She really made the day. I would highly recommend this tour and highly recommend Andrea.
We enjoyed traveling with Andrea to the coffee plantation. The hosts at the plantation were super knowledgeable and so fun to walk around with and learn from. Thank you!
We had a fabulous trip with this tour organised by Impulse travel. The communication and the booking was smooth and our trip was a great experience. Our guide, Andrea, was very knowledgeable, very sweet and made the trip very interesting. The visit to the Hacienda was fantastic and we learned a lot about coffee making its natural environment. We had only one full day in Bogotá but still we believe this tour was a great way to spend it! Totally recommendable!!!
I booked a day tour with IMPULSE Travel to visit Coloma Coffee near Bogota, Colombia. Paula Duarte - Travel Consultant answered my call and within minutes had a tour organised for the morning of the next day. Doriel my translator was very good. I was able to learn so much about the coffee industry from seed to the drink - be it coffee, coffee liqueur or coffee flavoured rum. Maria the driver was great. I will definitely use IMPULSE Tour when the opportunity arises. They were excellent.
This tour was a wonderful and engaging experience. We were picked up from our hotel by our guide, Nicholas, and our driver and driven about an hour and a half to a small town to visit a small coffee farm. The drive to the farm was filled with rolling hills with lush vegetation. At the farm we were greeted by the owner, who was friendly and passionate about coffee. Over a cup of his coffee, he told us a bit about his operation which he started 5 years ago. On the tour, we walked around the farm and got to pick coffee fruit (this is always done by hand) and learn about the diverse plants and fruit trees on the farm. We were impressed with how every part of the coffee plant was used and the process of harvesting to selling the green coffee beans was sustainable and environmentally friendly. After stopping for lunch at a restaurant in town, we headed back to Bogotá. Along the way Nicholas helped us with making plans for the evening, which required quite a bit of research by him using his phone. Nicholas was very helpful and friendly and a pleasure to spend time with. We highly recommend this tour!
Loved this tour. Welcoming Coffee Farmer to his beautiful Coffee Farm. Showed us the seed to bean life of the coffee plant. Demonstrated the perfect cup of coffee preparation. Typical Colombian lunch was delicious. Beautiful drive as well. Alejandro was an awesome guide.
We left at 7 AM and had a lovely drive (they picked us up in a nice 15 passenger VW mini-bus) to a small coffee farm (less than 2 acres) where we met the owner (a retired business man who gave up the suit and tie to grow small batch coffee). We learned about the various kinds of coffee plants (they grow 3 kinds), picked some coffee beans (our group of 12 wasn't very good at it but we did our best), walking through the farm and ate fresh fruit from the trees that grow amidst the coffee plants, and drank some really great coffee. The main house on the property has an amazing balcony that had a great view of the town of San Francisco. We stopped into the town and ate an OK lunch - the beer was cold and I think we would have been happy just drinking beer. And the drive back to the city was quick.
We enjoyed our first Impulse tour so much we booked a second three days later. Our first tour was the Colombian Coffee Tour. Andres and Juan served as our tour guide and driver respectively. Both were amazing. Andres was totally open to any question we might have and was always pointing things out to us unsolicited. Juan was a skilled driver and was super patient with our group the whole time. We also learned that he's the driver to the stars in Colombia as he has shuttled around famous musicians and actors. But we also got a bonus guide on this tour! Anna came along for the ride as well to check out the coffee farm and was able to also answer any questions we might have should Andres not be available. The coffee farm itself seemed off-the-beaten-path (good thing!) and was not bustling with other tours and tourists whatsoever (another good thing!). In fact the farm was at an ex-engineer's private farm and we were shown around by the lead superintendent of the farm personally. Not only that, we sat in the owner's house and drank the coffee and lulo juice from his farm. Can't get much better than that. But wait....it actually can! On the way back from the coffee farm, Andres and crew had a surprise for us. We picked up a crate of Colombia beer at a stall near the side of the road to aid us in the Colombian traditional sport of tejo. If you don't know what tejo is imagine the game of 'bags' (aka 'cornhole)' with stones, firecrackers, and clay. Got it?!? Sure you do. Anyways, it was a blast and felt totally authentic. After a traditional Colombian lunch in the town of San Francisco, we headed back to Bogota to finish the day. Our second tour was the hike to La Chorrera. We booked this only after our wonderful experience with the coffee tour. We got super lucky and had Andres as our guide again. This time it was only us and Andres which was great as we got unfettered access to all things Colombia from his point of view. He was great throughout the hike showing us things that I think some other less experienced guides would've missed and we talked about anything and everything. Instead of grabbing lunch near the trailhead, Andres wanted to show us a couple things back in the city, so he took us to a great restaurant (called Candelario I think) in the historic La Candeleria district for some traditional Colombian cuisine. Afterwards, we quickly popped into the Bottero museum since my wife and I hadn't seen it yet and this was to be our last day in Bogota. So again, Andres went above and beyond to make our tour special with some nice surprises.
This coffee tour is a great experience. We went to a small coffee farm which was run by some of the sweetest, nicest people who fed us lots of coffee and homemade arepas (best arepas I had in Colombia). We learned a lot about how the coffee was made, and got to experience the coffee bean picking process. The guy who showed us around the farm gave us a lot of interesting details about the process and the farm, letting us touch, smell, and see everything so we could be fully immersed in the process. The location is also so magical and makes for some great photos. Our tour guide Andres was also so fun and interesting to talk to! After the coffee tour, we ate lunch with him and our driver, and they took us to the best Tejo field in the area to play the traditional Colombian game, which we had never heard of. It was a great time and we felt like we got a truly authentic local experience. This was one of the highlights of our trip!

Daniel was a great guide. We really enjoyed our trip to the coffee plantation and local market. We learned a lot and had a lot of fun. Daniel and Marie were very accommodating and gracious in making sure that we got the most out of our day. Highly recommended!

My wife and I had a great time visiting the Coloma coffee plantation. Our guide Juan Carlos met us at our hotel near Parque 93 and then we drove off to the countryside to visit the farm. We stopped on the way to get a cup of aguapanela with cheese from a local dairy absolute must try!.

Once we arrived at Coloma we went on a small guided tour during which we learned about the history and processes used to make coffee in the region. The tour ended with a tasting of the plantation's coffee.

Overall, it was a great time.

A nice, easy day trip from Bogota. Alejandro, our guide, met us at our hotel in La Candeleria. He was knowledgeable about the region and the culture and prepared us for our our visit to the plantation. The plantation is a boutique operation and allows visitors insights into all aspects of growing, harvesting and processing coffee. On the return to Bogota we stopped and had a trafitional coffee region lunch. The only downside of the trip was Bogota traffic.

We had Juan as our driver and he was exceptional! Really told us about the area we were going to. One of the best things about the day. The tour itself was ok. The tour guide at the plantation stopped translating when he realized my Husband could speak Spanish.

Me encanto conocer cómo se produce el café, mi mayor pasión. Y mi parte favorita fue catear los distintos sabores de licores y café.
Last week I had the opportunity to visit the Cafetera San Francisco estate together with Impulse Travel. It was a very good day where Don Manuel showed us the whole coffee process, from planting, selection and washing the coffee bean. It was really a very nice experience where the owners welcomed us and proudly showed their coffee corner. I recommend it 100%.
