Awesome guide and driver . Learned some history of both places . Highly recommended going well worth it .
We absolutely loved our day trip to Guatavita and Zipaquira! Hernan and Rodrigo were extremely accommodating in arranging pickup and were communicative and punctual picking us up at our hotel even though it wasn’t on the original list of pickup options. Far more importantly, Rodrigo is a truly impressive individual as an historian, a story teller and even a philosopher. I greatly enjoyed discussing topics ranging across current politics, Spanish and Colombian history, Christian traditions, art, and more. He answered every question thoroughly and intelligently and we engaged in some very rewarding conversation about many topics. As for the tour itself, Guatavita was spectacular, especially enriched by the stories Rodrigo shared about its history. It was a little more walking and hills than we were aware of, but it was worth the effort. Truly beautiful. The cathedral at zipaquira was also very compelling, and was made much more so by Rodrigo’s very informative narration of the history behind the place and the art and tradition it symbolizes. It exceeded my expectations many times over. Everything taken together, I would 100% recommend this tour with all my heart.
This was a full-day tour. Pickup was seamless; the guide and driver were in text/phone contact with us starting about 30 min before pickup. We started by visiting the Guatavita town, then the lagoon. The guide (Sebastian) was amazing, with a lot of knowledge of history, the ecology of the region, and the myths surrounding the lagoon. He seamlessly went from English to Spanish, so nobody was "left out". We then headed to Zipaquira town and had lunch at an Asador (which had live music!), went on a little shopping detour, and then to the cathedral. The guide and driver stopped as needed (to get water or take pictures) and were overall a joy to travel with. We considered traveling by train on our own, but when we added the cost of train tickets, transportation to the entry points, entrance tickets, and the time to get from one place to another, this was a much better deal. Strongly recommend!
This was a wonderful experience while in Colombia. Sebastian was our tour guide and he was phenomenal. We were the only English speakers on our tour so he gave us a personal tour and also allowed the only English speakers from another group to join us. He told us details about each place that we would’ve never known otherwise. When it came to ordering things and talking to the group he translated for us in English as well as spoke to everyone in Spanish. He told jokes and took pictures as well as orchestrated our poses. He did a great job preparing us for the hike at the lagoon as it was briefly steep and we climbed elevations quickly. He treated us like a friend that had come to visit him. The cathedral tour was self guided with audio and he helped us through all of that as well. It was a great day!
Well organized trip, great guide, and very informative along the way. Really enjoyed the experience.
What a lovely experience. Sergio was my guide, he accommodated in English very well. Funny, great personality and made the experience 10 times better.
Had a great trip with Sebastian as the tour guide. He was funny and did a great job explaining everything. I did the tour on my first full day in Colombia, so I was a little tired, but the drive time between the stops was perfect for rest breaks.
The experience was fun, informative and the sites were so breathtaking. The journey to the lagoon was so beautiful and rewarding and the Salt cathedral is really the first wonder of colombia. Every detail was well thought of, even our lunch spot was excellent. Carlos and Jesus were excellent, we had the best time.
The tour was incredible, we has Sebastian as our tour guide and Jesus as our driver. It's alot of driving to pick people up and reach the spots but it really let's you explore and see the sights around. Sebastian is well informed letting us know facts of each area as we go through. Then when we do the lake he has excellent knowledge of the history behind it and the local flora/fauna. It's a good hike but you can feel the air get heavier as you climb. The salt tour was exceptional, but for that one they let you explore at your own pace with an audio guide but well rounded trip, especially for seeing the landscape outside the city
Wonderful trip to the Guatavita lagoon and the Salt Cathedral. Both places have so much history and culture of the Colombian people. Our guide Sebastian was knowledgeable and shared relevant information with us.
Milli and Camilo were both great! The combined tour is a little long but honestly worked out well as it was our first day in Colombia and gave us time to rest in the car and acclimate to the elevation. But be warned, it is a lot of car time
Fantastic! Guide was exceptional. I only speak English and was the only non-Spanish speaker of the group and he accommodated us all wonderfully. The background story for the lagoon made it a significant experience. Salt Cathedral is odd, by design.
I really enjoyed the experience! Carlos and Sebastian were fantastic guides, they were friendly, knowledgeable, and made the trip both fun and informative. The Salt Cathedral was absolutely breathtaking. There are restrooms available inside, and you can also purchase souvenirs during your visit. The transportation was very comfortable. The Mercedes van was spacious, clean, and made the journey enjoyable. I recommend bringing snacks, water, pillow, and a light jacket. At the lagoon, the wind was incredibly strong—it almost felt like hurricane-force winds at times, and you may even feel short of breath due to the altitude. I also recommend trying the coca tea, which can help. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the restaurant selected for lunch. Although the service was excellent, the food lacked authentic Colombian flavor and was overcooked. Since lunch is an additional expense and guests have to pay for it separately, I think we should have the opportunity to choose where we want to eat. Overall, everything else was excellent, and I would definitely recommend this tour.
Our day started at about 8am. The extremely nice Mercedes Van picked us up from our hotel on time. Our guide was extremely sweet and had a wonderful personality. The driver managed the traffic without any issues. Due to other guests staying all over the city it took probably two hours to pick everyone up. A positive to this is that we got to see quite a bit of Bogotá but the downside is that the tour was extremely long. After two hours we stopped for a bathroom break and were able to stretch our legs and grab a snack. We stopped in Gutavita to see the town for a few minutes. Honestly there isn't much there and we could have missed this stop. The hike around Gutavita Lagoon is stunning. I will warn you that it is at 3100meters. If you haven't acclimated to the altitude then it can be a bit difficult. If you have bad knees or hips I don't recommend this tour. My advice is to go slow and drink plenty of water. Bring comfy shoes and a rain jacket. It rained on and off for us. Your hotel probably has coca tea which helps with altitude sickness and the little cafe at the base of the hike has it too. At the very end is another cafe in which you can get some snacks. After the hike it was great to have a little nosh. Our final destination was Zipaquriá. This is where we had a meal. It was about 3pm. The restaurant was a traditional Colombian restaurant that served an amazing variety of meats. We then did a quick walking tour of the city and then made our way to the Salt Cathedral. We spent 2 hrs at the Salt Cathedral. We didn't get back to our hotel until close to 10pm. It was an extremely long day, actually it was too long. We decided it was nice to see the sites but probably would not do the tour again due to the length.
Long day. Major monuments to see & explore. It’s good if you like to see countryside from a vehicle. The Salt Cathderal was quite amazing. The hike to see the lake was single file& quite slow but beautiful view of crater. Guide was pleasant
I had such a great time on this tour!! My tour guide Sergio went above and beyond to make sure we all had a great experience. He was funny, kind, and patient. I would recommend him for any of your tours!
Interesting tour but the day is very long when you take into account picking up other guests (more than 13 hours because of traffic). Sebastian was an excellent guide and Jesus was a wonderful driver. Sebastian was a wealth of knowledge on plant properties, history, culture…he made the tour worthwhile. The time on the road allows you plenty of rest time in a comfy Tracker. The Salt Cathedral is interesting but if you’ve seen the one in Poland then this will be your second favorite.
What an excellent tour at a great price! Everything was well planned and very comfortable. What made this tour absolutely amazing was the great care the driver and guide took to ensure we were comfortable, happy, and safe. Juan Camilo and Sebastian were phenomenal! 10 out of 10 thanks to them!
This was a great tour that starts with a hike to the top of the Guatavita Lagoon which is a great experience in and of itself and great views at the top. Our guide Sergio made the whole day interesting and fun! The day ended with the tour of the Salt Cathedral which is fascinating.
Sergio was our tour guide and he was probably the best tour guide I’ve ever had. He was so lively, friendly, and had so much knowledge about the areas we visited. We had a full day tour and it was priced well and made for such a great day!
Interesting tour with enough time at each location, good and informative guide, good transportation.
We didn’t know what to expect. Our guide Sebastian was funny and informative, and shared his love for the culture and history. We learned about the indigenous culture while enjoying the scenery. He taught us about the flora and their medicinal properties, and brought us to some great eating establishments. The salt cathedral was super interesting. We thoroughly enjoyed our time.
We had a wonderful experience visiting the Salt Cathedral and Guatavita Lagoon. Sebastián, our guide, was very knowledgeable and attentive, and Jesús, our driver, made the trip safe and comfortable. Both contributed to making the visit truly enjoyable. Highly recommended!
We booked a group tour and were shown around the sites by our guide Pierre. He’s a very smart guy, speaking Spanish, English, and French! He shared a lot of stuff with us during our drive. He also is a very safe driver, which I appreciate. Texting and driving seems to be endemic in Latin America and he was the only driver I met during my trip who had his eyes on the road. Lunch was not included in the tour fee but the tour company books a restaurant for everyone to eat at.
Fantastic experience! Sebastian was a great tour guide who spoke clearly in both English and Spanish. A very funny guy, Sebastian made us laugh throughout the entire time, and our driver was very friendly and helpful as well. I accidentally spilled a drink in the nice Mercedes van and he told me not to worry and cleaned it up for me completely without worry. I recommend this tour for seeing both the beautiful Guatavita Lagoon and Zipaquira + Salt Cathedral in one day. In addition, the communication for pickup from my Vrbo apartment was clear and they arrived on time.
If you are LUCKY ENOUGH to get Sergio and Jesus as your guides you are guaranteed the most WONDERFUL tour! Sergio is HILARIOUS and his energy is contagious! He made the 12hr trip seem SHORT! the locations were also phenomenal and our guides were insanely knowledgeable about every detail! I cannot recommend this enough!!
Amazing tour! I am completely satisfied. Breathtaking scenery, stunning cathedral, delicious food! Highly recommended!
Great trip and perfect combination of two totally different locations. And Rodrigo was a great guide with lots of interesting information and facts about plants, animals and places. Thank you!
First of all I want to thank our driver Christian for driving us safely to every location and our guide Sergio who is fun and ready to answer every question. The trip was very good and gave us enough time to experience every location, which Sergio giving us solid information at every step. I went here solo, but didn't feel solo at all. Highly recommended.
The tour guide was pretty inconsiderate. There was 2 of us who didn't speak Spanish. Everyone understood English but he spoke Spanish 98% of the time a few times he repeated in English but for the most part I had no idea good thing there was a girl beside me on the bus who saw I was confused multiple times and translated it in English for me. The tour and sights were amazing and the bus was good and clean. The guide just needs to be a lot more considerate of the people who don't speak Spanish. I'm sure it was easier for him to have a conversation in Spanish but if that's what you want then you should only take Spanish speakers out with you. It should not be the job of other passengers to translate.
Sergio was one of a kind those 151 uneven stone steps took a lot out of me and my lungs but Sergio and the group we travelled with encouraged me every step of the way, his knowledge was appreciated for all of the sites we had seen and his love of music was a great distraction on the long ride home
Sandro and Sergio were great. The bus came to our hotel 10 minutes early (around 9am) and left us around 8 pm. Top tour, not to rushed, just as it should be. We got a lot of really interesting information and saw these beautiful places. Admission fees were covered, no additional fees were needed (except lunch if you wanted to), and we didn't have to wait for the entrances since it was done without flaw. Totally recommend!
This was a long tour of 12 hours but totally worth it. Sergio was our guide and Sandro was our driver. Sergio was hilarious and brimming with knowledge and he truly made our tour enjoyable. I learnt so much about Colombian history and culture on this tour. The restaurant we stopped at for lunch had some truly amazing food, which helped keep our spirits up for sure.

We had an incredible experience on the tour to Zipaquirá Salt Cathedral and Guatavita. Everything was perfectly organized, and the day was truly unforgettable. Our tour guide Sergio was outstanding — extremely knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and passionate about Colombian history and culture. His English is excellent, and he explained everything in a clear and engaging way, making the experience even more meaningful. A special thank you as well to our driver Sandro, who was professional, friendly, and made the trip very comfortable and safe. Guatavita was unexpectedly amazing — the scenery and the story behind the lake were absolutely breathtaking. The Salt Cathedral was also a unique and impressive place to visit. Highly recommend this tour, especially with Sergio and Sandro!
Jesus and Sebastian were great. Sebastian went out of his way for my request and was very knowledgeable.
Rodrigo was fantastic! My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the 12 hours with Rodrigo leading our group. He did an incredible job translating for us throughout the day and make each stop extraordinary! I have zero complaints and would highly recommend this tour. The van picked us up in front of our Airbnb and after then picked up the rest of the tourists. We stopped for a delicious breakfast of coffee and the best empanadas before heading to our next location. Rodrigo did a great job adding in little extra stops along the way: arepas, tea, lunch, and more.
Very organized. Our guide pierre was very helpful and kind. Sergio was funny and very patient. On the up to the Lagoon, if you are lucky, you can see lots of flowers that the indigenous peoples used for medicine
Sergio our tour guide was Amazingggg....I loved his vibe and made us laugh throughout the whole tour...The restaurant for lunch was delicious and also the musicians who welcomed us while we were having lunch...My Sunday Funday was a blessing 🙌...Thank Youuuuu Sergio for everything you do...God Bless...Toni Miami Fl
We had the best time on the tour! Sergio was our highlight, he was funny, interesting, very knowledgeable and made sure we had an amazing experience. The lagoon was beautiful and we really enjoyed hearing about the history and hiking up to the top. The Salt cathedral was incredible and unlike anything we’ve seen before. Would 100% recommend, the only thing we will say is that it is a long day so be prepared.
First our tour guide Sergio was super friendly and energetic, he made you feel like you’ve been friends for years. Secondly we really enjoyed the Lake Guatavita experience. The beauty of the nature there was amazing. It was quite a walk but he made sure to stop along the way to ensure no one was being over exerted by the walk. Next we stopped for food and most of our group was over charged by the restaurant. On our last stop, the Salt Cathedral he went back while we were inside and got our money back and ensured us he will no longer be doing business with them. The fact that he did that, shows he’s a great person and cares about his guests. Lastly the Salt Cathedral was a rich experience. The colors and atmosphere were beautiful and amazing to take in. I highly recommend.
A fantastic full day of nature, culture, scenery, history and great food! The uphill walk to Guatavita got my heart pumping and my knees reminding me of past injuries, but it was well worth the effort for the scenery, wildlife, and interesting information. Our Guide, Sergio, is very knowledgeable. He sure knows how to tell a story and also how to take care of everyone. Lunch was in the town of Zipaquira, and the restaurant was great. They catered to my vegetarian needs, and we were even treated to some live music. Then it was off to the Salt Cathedral, and what an amazing experience. No wonder it’s rated the number 1 wonder of Colombia. Breathtaking, in so many ways. As a solo traveler I got to meet some super nice folks from all around the world, which made the day even better! Five stars!
I did a Zipaquirá Salt Cathedral and Guatavita Lagoon with Sebastian as our guide and Jesus, the driver. I will preface this review by saying I often do not take the time to write reviews. Walking tours can become boring especially when not all the historical details are of interest. Sebastian kept me interested and listening through the entire tour with his humour and character. He is genuine, kind, and enthusiastic. His English is excellent because he has lived in United States for many years before returning to Colombia. Jesus navigated very treacherous roads skillfully. I must thank these two again for giving me an unforgettable experience.
Sebastian was a great tour guide, and covered English-speaking needs for those in the group with lesser (or no) Spanish proficiency.
Guide Sergio was very friendly and accommodating, making the experience very fun through and through. The group moved at a comfortable pace that allowed everyone to enjoy and fully appreciate each place without ever feeling rushed, and the guide helped us avoid huge crowds!! Communication was smooth in both English and Spanish as the guide used to live in the US. Overall one of the best tour experiences I’ve had :)
Sebastian speak very fluent English, has rich knowledge of the nature and history, he tells you the ancient history of the places, the different plants, very good trip. The weather is changeable in the mountain area, better to choose a day with good weather, we experienced rain unfortunately
Had such a great time on this experience of a lifetime. Sebastian had so much knowledge on the tour and Jesus was such a good driver. Highly recommended!
So worth seeing! Had the best time and learned so much about Colombia. Sergio provided all the information and was the nicest guide!
This is an excellent pair of tours to two unique places, the Guatavita Lagoon and rhe Zipaquirá Salt Cathedral. Tour guide Sebastian was friendly and knowledgeable in both English and Spanish. Great communication via WhatsApp from the company about logistics. It's a good activity for solo travelers.
