It’s more of a rock cave than an actual salt mine. The carvings of the crosses were decent… nothing spectacular. It’s a huge place though and the girls we went with took a ton of pics and wanted to shop inside the mine. So by the time we got out, it was noon. We went to eat, then back to Bogota. The tour guide was super nice and talkative but we were bummed when she said we didn’t have time to go to the Zipaquira square. Would’ve been nice to at least drive past it but we didn’t see it at all.

Bolivar Plaza appears clumsy compared. This was clean salubrious and with poised theatricity, retaining its ingredients. It added to the overblown Salt Cathedral saga. Spanish Colonial style, colourful and with the town fragrant and in a good scale. Worth walking, enjoying the poetic simplicity. The open, undulating surface wise square, provides space and foregone time pervades it
Very nice experience. Tour was very good. Beautiful Underground salt church Totally recommend when visiting Colombia
This tour was awesome, I highly recommend it for any tourists looking for something different to do outside of the normal site seeing in Bogota. Cindy was an awesome guide and very insightful on all our questions.
Any visit to Bogota should include a visit to the Salt Cathedral with this company! Cindy was outstanding and a gracious host! Pedro was a fantastic driver and the two of them made this visit to Bogota magical! Cindy’s knowledge and love for her country was evident and I was treated like royalty throughout the entire tour. The cathedral was such an incredible and interesting place to see as was the town of Zipacuira. Stunning architecture, wonderful people! Please take the time to visit!
The Salt Cathedral was just breathtaking and was just beautiful. Highly recommend this tour and Cindy was a very good tour guide. The lunch was delicious too.
Cindy was truly the best! She was on time, friendly, and went above and beyond to make sure I had a great day! She was a fabulous guide, making sure everything was taken care of and I knew exactly where to go. I would definitely go out with her again!
This tour is a must do. The Salt Cathedral was very impressive. The drive from Bogotá was very interesting in itself with Jhon Freddy our wonderful guide giving an excellent description of everything we saw en route. We stopped at a great place for coffee on the way. After our tour of the amazing cathedral we were given a tour of the beautiful old town of Zipaquirá where we also had a delicious included lunch. This tour far exceeded all expectations. Jhon Freddy is an outstanding guide who speaks excellent English. He is a very knowledgeable, personable and talented young man who helped to make this tour one of the best one day tours that I have ever experienced.
Zipaquira a d the Salt Cathedral left a lasting positive mark for our trip and was one of the highlights. Our seiver and guide Nicolas were very accomodating and provided a lot of information on culture and history of the area. The choice for lunch was an out of this world experience. You can't go wrong with this tour...and the price paid is well worth it!
The Salt Cathedral was so uniquely beautiful, the town of Zipaquira was charming, our lunch was delicious and authentic, and our host Jhon Fredy was so friendly and knowledgeable. We highly recommend this tour!
Driver and guide were both great. We enjoyed the salt cathedral and the town square. Lunch was very generous and a great opportunity to eat local favorites.
If you are a local, or have been to Bogota dozens of times and speak fluent Spanish (especially in the rapid fire method Colombians are so fond of speaking) then you might want to try your luck at mass transit and take the Train to Zipaquira and save a few pesos. For the rest of us, this is the first class way to go! We were picked up in a very nice, newer, and immaculate private car and personally driven with our driver (who spoke mostly Spanish) and our tour guide, Nicholas, who spoke English very well. Our driver used Waze to find the quickest, and it turned out most beautiful and scenic route to Zipaquira. At first I was a bit disappointed that our guide did not go INTO the Cathedral with us, but after 5 minutes I realized that it would have been pretty pointless for him to have done so. Every tour comes with a self led a audio device, and not only does it tell you everything you want to know and then some, but it allows you to go at your own pace. Once we were done looking at everything (including a rather elaborate commercial zone), we exited to find Nicholas waiting for us for our personal private tour of the two squares and our nice restaurant in town where we had a private reserved table and enjoyed local Colombian food, and great live entertainment. Going in the morning was the best plan, because by the time we exited the cathedral, there was a large crowd and line of tourists
We had a wonderful day on our tour to the Salt Cathedral. Our guide was informative, spoke perfect english and had a very friendly personality. She enlightened us with many stories and facts on Colombia and Bogota. We got to visit another small town close by where we had a typical Colombian lunch, which was excellent. If visiting Bogota I would definitely recommend taking in the Salt Cathedral.
My friend and I had a great tour with Transfers & Tours. Anna Marie was our tour guide and she spoke very good English and was very informative. She has a great personality for being a tour guide--very kind, warm and helpful. The Salt Cathedral was amazing and more interesting than I expected. I highly recommend this tour and I loved our guide Anna Marie.
Lorena and John were amazing! They were attentive, informed, and on time! We had some great Convo’s and a great ride. The salt mine was impressive even though it was tough visiting the bottom level. The altitude makes stairs hard, but it’s a cool experience if you have never been in a mine. The city center and squares are great and Lorena gives a great history of the town. Thanks so much!!
What an awesome tour today!! Karolayn is prompt and professional. We had a wonderful visit at the Salt Cathedral. Afterwards, we took a fun and comfortable walk over to Independence Square. During the walk, I became hungry (skipped breakfast). Karolayn was so kind and sweet. We stopped by a local cafe and enjoyed a light and delicious pastry. We toured Colonial Center and Independence Square. She is very knowledgeable and answered all of our questions. Karolayn was very patient with our “essential” Spanish (smile). We concluded our tour with lunch at a local restaurant. The food was delicious, especially the soups. I highly recommend this tour and Karolayn. I would definitely book this company again. Exceptional service!
We spent 10 days in various parts of Colombia and the salt cathedral tour was one of our favorite tours. Our guide was incredible and the cathedral was mind blowing. Do not miss it!
My husband and I took this tour in April 2018. We were picked up at our hotel on time and driven to Zipaquirá which was about an hours drive north. Our driver spoke little English but was very polite and our guide was a dream! She was so knowledgeable about everything, friendly and her English was excellent. The tour of the salt cathedral lasted about 2 hours long and was excellent, I would highly recommend going there. We opted for the English audio guide which led us through the mine at a leisurely pace and explained all of the points of interest in detail. After the salt mine we were taken through the charming town of Zipaquira for a short while and had a delicious lunch at a local restaurant. There was some traffic heading back into Bogota so it took a bit longer to get back but we were dropped right back to our hotel at the scheduled time. The cathedral, the town of Zipaquira and our wonderful guides made the trek out of Bogota so enjoyable, it was an absolute pleasure and I would highly recommend!

This tour was a lovely way to spend the day. The Salt Cathedral has voice guides so you can tour at your own speed. The guide provides insight into the history of Colombian during the square tour and the lunch is a great way to try a traditional Colombian lunch. This tour is a must!

We are extensive travelers, and have gone to many salt mines in the world, Austria, Gibraltar and Poland being some of them. So we expected the same sort of experience here. We did a self guided tour, thank goodness, otherwise we would have been stuck here for hours. The mine is basically a cave with several crosses the miners have carved out. There is a major cathedral at the end of the cave, but that is about it. To pay about $25 each to see some crosses was somewhat overwhelming. So unless you are very religious don't bother to waste your time.

The Salt Cathedral was spectacular and Independence Square was definitely worth seeing. Our guide was friendly and knowledgeable but not very talkative, so we had to ask a lot of questions. Overall good experience, but other group tours may be a better value.

This is really a place to visit, beautiful location, fun to explore and you feel real treat. However it's best to go there on your own because you can enjoy it cheaper that way.

Takes an hour to get to the town. Not a lot of time to actually see the square. timing was based on getting to the Salt Cathedral. This is a bit cave like which did not appeal to me. Was on a tour for over an hour. You then have double back to get out. Big religious oriented lots of crosses. Afterwards I was not sure where to meet the guide and had to come back to the main exit. Watch there are 2 parking lots, one being lower. Afterwards we had an included lunch beer extra. I actually enjoyed the lunch. The driver was not English speaking but the guide was. They were both quite pleasant

Great day trip if you've already spent some time in Bogota. It does take a while, though, so not ideal if you only have 1 day in the city.

Is a wonderful structure, with a religious environment. It was an excellent choice to take the tour guide, cause our guide was careful. I recommend to go with all your family, is a wonderful experiences. Is better if you go there at morning cause in the afternoon is complicated to enter to the cathedral

The tour starts with a pickup from your hotel, and away you go to The Salt Cathedral! Our guide was Andrea and we had a good conversation throughout the tour. Lunch was provided in Zipaquira and it was good local fare. This tour is recommended!

We were picked up from our hotel in Bogota by 9 am and we reached Zipaquira within an hour. The tour in the Salt mine and Cathedral was in English and it included a movie and light show. Total it took 2 hours to complete the tour and on our way back we stopped at the Main square. We also enjoyed the Vegetarian lunch provided at a restaurant in Zipaquira itself. We returned to Bogota by 3 pm. It was a worthwhile tour and well arranged. The guide and driver both were very helpful.

The tour page scheduled the pick-up for 9:00 but they showed up at 8:00. Our private "guide" was a friendly second-year college student with heavily accented English who knew absolutely nothing about any place we visited. She offered no insight, no tips, no suggestions, no history or background all day. She knew the names of the three places we stopped but offered no useful information all day. We could have taken an Uber for the information we received.

Miguel was on time to pick up us, and also was very kind and helpful with us. Definitely, if I visit again Bogotá, I will ask for his services through your website. Thanks Miguel!!

Pros:
1. This cathedral is AMAZING and well worth a visit if you are coming to Bogota plus, it will break up your stay in Bogota
2. Guides were very nice people
Cons:
1. Showed up 30 minutes late. I was dog dead tired and exhausted, but I still showed up on time. If I had known they would be that late, I could have slept another 30 minutes. They did not proactively reach out and tell me how late they would be either, so we just sat their waiting for them to arrive
2. They took a lot of pictures of us. To be fair, they asked if this was okay in the beginning and we said sure. However, at lunch, they kept taking pictures of us eating and I said I didn't want anymore pictures, but they kept taking them.

I highly recommend the cathedral itself - but I am mixed on this particular tour group.

A nice private tour to see the salt cathedral. Our guide Andrea and the driver handled all the logistics. Learned a few things about Columbia and Bogota on the way. The lunch was great as well. Overall, a very relaxing experience.

Andrea guide and Wilson driver were fabulous! This is an absolute must tour when in Bogota. The Salt Cathedral is amazing as is the shopping there. The town of Zipaquira is beautiful and charming. If you're luck the old church in town will be open so you can see how beautiful it is inside. Lunch in town was incredible. Fabulous local food soups and meats. Insider tip: stop at the Café on the Plaza in town to buy some Tres Leches cake!!!!!

The guides were very useful and friendly. The Sal Cathedral was amazing. We also enjoyed a typical Colombian lunch at a no thrills yet nice place. Highly recommended

Great trip with knowledeable guide and experienced driver. Salt Cathedral is a must see in Bogota.

Good tour. The cathedral is interesting especially from a Geological perspective.

Guide Andrea was very nice and polite.

This tour was awesome, our guide Kelly was a young lady full of knowledge with perfect English! She was very informative and chatted the entire time. The Salt Cathedral was so cool and the time inside went quicker than expected. The traditional Colombian lunch was delicious and the town of Zipaquira was quaint. I would recommend this tour!

My daughter and I looked for an easy day tour from Bogota and ordered this trip. Andrea and her driver came to pick us up from our hotel in a comfortable car and within 40 minutes we were out of the urban views of Bogota. The trip is worth it, the guidance at the mines enjoyable and the views of Colombia are great. Andrea is lively, has an excellent English and was able to answer all of our question.

The salt cathedral is really worth seeing. Although it rained the day we we're there our guide drove us through the town to see the square and provide history of area. Enjoyed a Columbian lunch and a bit of sightseeing. Rain, not guide prevented us from spending more time around square

One of the wonders of Colombia!! Relaxing trip to Zipaquira through the Bogota savanna. Our tour guides Andrea and driver were very professional and accommodating. Miraculous achievement by the miners to build such spectacular cathedral.

Tour company doesn't deliver. Major ripoff. We paid for an English speaking guide but ended up with a driver who spoke no English. He was nice. When we arrived in Zipaquira we were met by an English speaking guide for a tour of the square - 5 minutes- and taking us to the Salt Cathedral but after the tour it was back to our Spanish speaking only driver. So we couldn't ask any questions or learn anything. Tour would have been cheaper to hire a taxi to drive us there, then taken the tour of salt cathedral. The salt cathedral tours are in English but not part of this tour company. Plus it took us 3 hours to drive 27 kilometers back but we have no idea why since the driver didn't speak English.

The visit to the salt cathedral is quite a unique experience. Be prepared for traffic delays leaving Bogota. However, our guide Andrea filled in the time with a lot of interesting information about Colombia and everyday life. Zipaquira is an interesting little colonial town well worth a visit. The tour of the salt cathedral goes about 1 km into the mountain but is an easy walk with plenty of stops and photo opportunities. Could have done with longer at the end of the tour to see the video and check out the shops.

Visit to Salt Cathedral was a wonderful day. Our guide, Andrea, spoke English perfectly and loved answering our questions about her country. After the Salt Cathedral tour we ate a delicious Colombian lunch at a local restaurant in Zipaquira followed by a walk in the town to two plazas including seeing the town cathedral. The driver was excellent and the car was very clean and comfortable. Highly recommend this tour guide and driver.

The tour was very good, from the time we were fetched from our Hotel, the tour guide was very attentive to our questions, though she is still learning her trade was very good in explaining and pointing to us the area. We find the salt mines and its cathedrals exceptional. The Independence square and other plazas were also visited. Our lunch was very good. I will recommend this tour to my friends, we enjoyed it very much!

Our guide and driver picked us up right on time and we arrived at the Salt Cathedral just in time for the 10AM English tour. We were fortunate enough to be part of a small group for the tour 10 people. The cathedral is something not to be missed during a trip to Bogota. Unlike anything I've ever seen anywhere in the world. It's located 180 meters below ground, so even if it would have been rainy it doesn't matter, you still get awesome photos. The only thing I would have liked more would have been to be able to include the additional tour in the mine which is called La Ruta Minera. This wasn't offered as a part of this tour and we did not have time to try and add it. It costs only a couple of dollars more, lasts 30 minutes and supposedly provides more insight into the mining operation and techniques. During our stop in the city of Zipaquira we were fortunate because the church was open and we could go inside. Very pretty Spanish-style with interior walls of hewn rocks and bricks. Excellent lunch was provided and out guide and driver did a great job.

We thought we were getting a tour, but what we really got was a ride to the Salt Cathedral with an English-speaking translator. Our time and money would have been better spent to get ourselves to the Salt Cathedral and take the official tour there. Our English-speaking guide was very pleasant, but knew nothing about the sights we were seeing. We learned later that it was her first day on the job and that she has never even been in the Salt Cathedral herself.

Excellent guide!, very familiar with the areas, very safe trip, I will highly recommend them and use the same service if I have the opportunity to come back to Bogota.

Excelente experiencia. Fueron muy puntuales y todo estuvo muy bien organizado. Fue un tour agradable, con un ambiente muy bueno y una atención excelente. Sin duda, lo recomiendo y repetiría la experiencia.
I visited the cathedral with two seniors, one in a wheelchair. We liked the experience, the place is accessible, and they even have free wheelchairs for a better experience. The trip was comfortable and enjoyable; while we were heading to the site, the guide Santiago explained things about the city and interesting facts to us. This is a complete tour; we really valued that it included the tickets and lunch, so I recommend it.
A beautiful tour of Zipaquira and the Cathedral of Sal. The Camilla Guide was excellent, super good, informed and fun. Be careful with the price, in the app it looks like they put the price in dollars but are in euros. We arranged with Liliana the price in dollars and once the tour was over she told us that they were actually euros.
