What an amazing tour! Let’s start by talking about the beautiful drive up the mountainside of Bogotá, simply amazing! The authentic breakfast snack (arepa) and drink we had before the hike, were really tasty. The hike exposes you to timeless and breathtaking moments and views. Further, the hike requires a certain level of fitness, so please be aware when booking. There is a physically demanding aspect to this tour. However, it is worth the trek! Most importantly, our tour guide, Gigio, was the best!! Gigio was very knowledgeable and provided valuable information about the region, the country, and its history. Also, Gigio did a great job of making sure we took breaks and pointing out picturesque moments, and he provided recommendations to delicious restaurants and must-see attractions around the city. In all, if you are a nature loving, thrill seeker, this is a must do tour in Bogotá!

Start your day with hotel pickup and a scenic drive to the East Hills, a series of forest-covered peaks within the Andes mountain range. As your transportation ascends into the mountains, your guide will share insights about the area’s geology, and you’ll enjoy breathtaking views from the roadside cliffs. Begin your hike through vibrant green forests toward your first stop, the El Chiflón waterfall, where you can walk behind the cascading water for a unique perspective or take a refreshing swim in the inviting turquoise waters below.
After enjoying a local snack to refuel, continue your hike deeper into the forest toward La Chorrera waterfall, which stands at an impressive 590 meters (1,936 feet). This route offers a chance to observe the region's diverse plant life, including bromeliads, cedar, orchids, and more. As you approach, you’ll hear the roar of this natural wonder in the distance. Take a moment to soak in the stunning views and capture photos before starting your return hike.
After about 3.5 hours of hiking, return to your vehicle and head back to the city. Depending on your itinerary, enjoy a traditional Colombian lunch in the historic La Candelaria neighborhood or in Choachí before concluding your day with a return trip to your Bogotá hotel. Note: This tour involves hiking and traveling at altitudes ranging from 1,923 to 2,600 meters (6,309 to 8,530 feet) above sea level.

We recently went on Impulse Travel's hike to La Chorrera waterfall, and it was an incredible experience. Our guide was knowledgeable, and the views were breathtaking. The waterfall itself was a majestic sight, surrounded by lush greenery that added to the overall beauty of the surroundings. I highly recommend this excursion for nature enthusiasts and anyone seeking a memorable adventure.
Diego was my guide very knowledgable kind and attentive. Recommend this tour %100. The ride , views were spectacular. Thank you Diego for a lovey experience .
Our guide, Diego, was very knowledgeable about the area, the plants, and even helped with some bird watching. He was lovely. Thank you!
We booked three tours (waterfall, salt cathedral and Monserrate+center). We had a kind and very informative guide, big thanks to him. Tours were safe and unforgettable. We recommend!
Everything was perfect, it was exhausting but totally worth it! The guide was very friendly and even though I booked this tour just for me, it was good.
A very well organised tour by Impulse travels, who were really friendly and responsive. Emilio, our guide on the tour was very friendly and knowledgeable about the history and ecology of the area and everything related to Colombia. It was a very memorable hike to a really beautiful place
The hike was spectacular. The guide was knowledgeable and was patient with my 13-year old daughter, as far as his pace. Beautiful view. Great lunch. Worth the 5 miles, round trip, hike!
I enjoyed the trip but it had some downsides The driver and guide were excellent, the walk itself interesting, well signposted , had beautiful scenery and was well worth a trip However, there was a cycle race on the day in Bogotá, which meant the road there was closed to traffic, consequently the drive to the park took two hours longer than planned and was along a very bumpy detour We were charged the equivalent of £240 for the trip , an expensive fee which I cannot see as justified given the service provided
We enjoyed our tour very much. The weather was foggy for the first bit but thankfully it cleared up a bit to be able to see the wide view, which was beautiful. The guide and the driver were both professional and we appreciated their help in helping us have a good experience!
The road trip to the park is memorable in itself, allowing for dramatic overviews of the city and mountains. When we arrived it was foggy creating a dramatic atmosphere. The initial assent is very steep but it becomes easier later. The hike crosses pastures and the waterfall appears in the distance. The waterfall is quite tall and there is a good spot to get a photo of oneself at it. Impulse Travel (and our guide Doriel) did a great job picking us up on time and giving us plenty of time to explore at our own pace. We got back to our hotel in time to rest and get ready for dinner. Highly recommend. I suggest practicing hiking in elevation and/or climbing stairs in preparation for this hike given that sections are quite steep and the air is relatively thin given the elevation.
This was an exhausting and super rewarding trip. Our guide was friendly and knowledgeable. The meal at the end was excellent. Make sure you are in good physical condition as the elevation and the ascension are killer, but the rewards are truly worth it.
We had a wonderful time! The tour was a little pricey, but worth every penny as it was just us and the guide. For most of the hike, we didn't see any other people, and our guide was constantly telling us about different plants, animals, and people who live in the area. The waterfalls were gorgeous though the water flow was a little less than normal because it was dry season. The hiking is no joke, it's around 5.6 miles and plenty of slippery gravel and elevation change, so definitely wear hiking boots! Also, lunch was fantastic at a local restaurant!
The journey and the group were amazing. We'd highly recommend the tour! Even though the hike isn't so far, the altitude gets to flatlanders, so be prepared!
Doriel was a fantastic guide! He was is very professional and knowledgable about the landscape of the area. The tour was on time and provided reliable transportation. I highly recommend this tour to groups and solo travelers. It was great to visit the waterfalls, and not have to worry about how to get there or manage admission fees. The waterfalls are absolutely stunning! It was raining the day we did our hike, but that did not take away from the amazing experience!
Incredible day extrusion with a world-class guide. This company definitely cut no corners in making sure that we enjoyed the journey 100%. Highly recommend.
This extraordinary hike was amazing! Hilton as expert driver and Daniel as my hiker guide were just wonderful. If you can spare a day, don’t miss this activity. Note: This area wasn’t accessible for many years, but fortunately with the new peace and safety hikers can now hike in.
The hike was very beautiful and Luis was very helpful, knowledgeable, and patient (even when I wasn’t feeling well). He made sure I made it to the airport on time even though I got sick in the car :(. Highly recommend!
We had a great time. Nice workout at a beautiful scenery. Jason was a great tour guide. We will cherish the memories forever. Thanks🙏🏼🇨🇴💛
About 1 hour 45 minutes drive by moto from where I was staying in Bogotá through the winding mountain roads brings you to this amazing serene place. There is a ticket both and parking at the base of a glamping site that allows you entrance into the hike to see both waterfall. The cheapest ticket was 35000COP and it included a little bag with some snacks, a water bottle, a rain poncho, and toliet paper. You could buy rappeling package that included lunch for 85000COP, but my friend and I just wanted to do the 4km hike. The hike is ranked as medium difficulty, and I would agree. The first waterfall, el Chiflon, I would rank as easy and a short distance from the ticker both to reach. You pass by a restaurant and the path is like a paved rock. But la Chorrera, the tall one, ooff, that is medium difficulty but bare in mind the altitude - you're higher than Bogotá and if you're from a city like me that is only like 100m above seal level, the hike feels harder. According to my smart watch, my heartbeat never went under 125bpm even sitting at rest and would stay at 163bpm average, topping at 179bpm. I am in decent shape for an American millennial, but that didn't mean I wasn't feeling the hike as cardio even when going at a slow pace. My recommendations for preparation: bring protein bars and a hydration pack; wear/bring a device that can track blood oxygen levels and heart bpm; wear boots with good tread/traction. As for weather/climate, I wore stretchy jeans and a long-sleeved polyester/spandex bodysuit with waterproof Chaco boots and merino wool socks. I left my jacket in the moto because I get warm when I workout (I typically box in a bra and leggings) but my friend wore his rain jacket, sweater, jeans, and hiking boots. You will get dirty because the path is always damp and muddy so avoid white or hard to clean fabrics. Sunglasses and a hat can be nice as some areas are not in forest cover, but the majority of the hike seemed to be in forest cover. What I liked most about this hike was you could see the tall casacda la Chorrera almost the entire time when you came to a clearing. It was great so you always knew what you were aiming for, but also it meant that is you needed to head back early you could because you did see what you came to see. The 4km took my friend and I 2.5 hours, but we diverted to the Monkey cave and the other paths along the way.
I went solo with Hernan as my guide. He is a fantastic guide! Everything went great. I would recommend.
I am embarassed by the amount of time that's passed (years) BUT the experience was so wonderful...who cares!! My friends and I had a wonderful time celebrating my 37th birthday. The guide was amazing, the hike is not easy (I'm pretty active) but well worth the effort, the views and waterfalls were so beautiful, and the experience is one I cherish!
Natalia was an amazing guide!! It rain most of the day but that made the experience even better! Thank you
Raul was great. He and the driver were on time and included a nice car. Raul spoke English very well and had excellent information about the hike, area and Bogota. The hike was beautiful, stoped at 2 different waterfalls and beauty all around.
We had a lovely experience on this trip, and felt it was an excellent choice for our last full day in the Bogotá area. We loved Andrés, who is amazing knowledgeable, thoughtful, and kind. He took such great care of us on our hike and the following meal. The stunning drive into the Andes, on the edge of the sprawling metropolis, transports you to what feels like a world away. I would recommend this tour to anyone who wants to see the natural scenery of Cundinamarca. The hike is strenuous, but does not take more skill than a medium-level hike at any given national park in North America. Weekdays are recommended to avoid the local crowds (which we were told can be outrageous on Sundays). A Friday in March, proved perfect for few people, great cool temperatures, and a leisurely pace.
Nice tour of the waterfalls. The guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. I would definitely use this tour company again.
We really had a great time hiking to La Chorrera and we are glad that we booked our tour. Our guide Andreas was really cool and easy going, he was knowledgeable and and provided many useful info. The trail itself is quite demanding and it can be very hard at certain points due to slippery rocks and tree roots, steep ascents and descents. I would not recommend to anyone who has walking problems or any other health issues. The nature and landscape is amazing. There are so many points for great pictures. The waterfall was unique and we were lucky there was enough water coming down. Sometimes when it does not rain for sometime, you can see only few drops and it will be disappointing. It is always important to check before the departure what conditions to expect. Overall it was an amazing experience and we really enjoyed it.
Doriel was my tour guide. Ask for him when you book. My guide was informative, knowledgeable and knew sooo much not only about the chorrera and chiflon but about all other towns in colombia and what you can and cannot do. They picked me up on time the driver Jorge is very professional and an overall great driver. I loved that Doriel did not try to rush me and whenever I had questions he will stop and answer me. Honestly the trip was supposed to be 6hrs but took 7hrs because we were going at a much slower pace. Doriel understood this was my first time gave me tips on how to step on the road and what to watch out for. Please bring an extra pair of clothes, 2bottles of water and money in cash because there is this cute little Cuban restaurant after you come down from the chiflon that serves the best ropa vieja, I felt so bad I did not have cash on me because I left it in the car. P.s. if you don’t find what you looking for in viator or TripAdvisor ask Doriel they respond to WhatsApp messages and are very attentive to your well being. Will be returning next year!!
Wonderful walking, very nice german speaking guide (Thanks to Felipe) with much information about the surrounding nature. Waterfalls were awesome and not so much people.
This was an excellent tour and hike. Our guide (I believe his name is Felipe) spoke great English and Spanish. He explained everything and gave pointed out lots of history and other fun facts during the hike. We got local snacks halfway up the mountain, and they were delicious! He also had a great sense of humor and our trip to Bogota was so much more enjoyable having done this hike. We had no worries about safety. I recommend bringing a second layer in case it gets cold, and shoes you don't mind getting muddy.
La Chorrera and Él Chiflon was nothing short of amazing. If you have acclimated to the elevation, the hike isn't that hard, if not don't worry the tour guide let's you rest along the way. Our guide, Felipe was very informative, knowlageable, patient, andmadesureweweresafeatalltimes. Definitely recommend doing this tour when visiting Bogota as it's a hidden treasure.
Amazing experience. The waterfalls are magical and worth the hike. It is very muddy and hard to ascend at times. Make sure to have hiking boots and active clothes. This is more difficult than I thought initially, but worth every penny and time spent. Our guide was amazing and even played music while we meditated at a beautiful picturesque spot. Give Felipe a raise!! He was amazing!
It was ok. We had to leave early due to holiday traffic and since it was so early the fog had not cleared over the top of the mountains or falls. If we would have left closer to the original time the fog would have cleared as it was clearing on our way back from the falls. Didn’t get to see much of the falls. It was a good hike make sure you are use to the elevation before you go. The tour guide was nice.
The hike was beautiful and the guide, Raoul, wAs wonderful. Very knowledgeable and pleasant to be with.
The nature is beautiful and Viviana was a great guide throughout the trip. The price is a little too high from what you get though.
La Chorrera hike was a pleasant half day trip from Bogota. We enjoyed the beautiful Andean forest with all shades of green. Trip was well planned, with a good timing. Our tour guide was very informative. We had good conversations and we learned a lot on the way. I'd strongy recommend it to all fit and curious tourists, who want to explore nature in Columbia in a very good company.
We thoroughly enjoyed hiking with Andres. Location was beautiful, food terrific & Andres great company. Best way to experience Bogota countryside.
An amazing hike well worth a day of your time. Raul was our guide along with Samuel (an fabulous translator) however Raul speaks perfect English so we just lucked out with two guides. Raul was able to explain and point out information on the plants and birds in the area. Took the time to explain the background of the plants. Taught us a bit of Spanish. It felt like walking to the falls with friends you could ask questions about everything you saw. The hike is a bit strenuous but the beauty is worth it. I would go again!
I really enjoyed this tour and even if I am not keen at hiking I must say it was really worth going! We walked through beautiful and uncontaminated places where you are surrounded by nature and amazing views. The two waterfalls are quite something and I suggest visiting this place to have a great experience out of the busy Bogota city.
The waterfalls were lovely but there wasn’t value for money in this trip. The hike took just under 3 hours. The entry charge to the waterfalls is really low (like cop 3800) compared to the cost of this trip so the rest of the money is going in the tour providers pocket. Particularly when I’m asked by my tour guide to buy his lunch. I’ve been on other guided hikes in Colombia which were a) much cheaper, better value and b) I was not asked to buy the guide lunch
The nature, the landscape and the waterfalls are incredibly beautiful and everything is kept as natural as possible to give you an authentic feeling of the area. And the people who work in the park are just outstanding! After leaving the park I realized that I had left my purse at one of the waterfall stations and they had send someone to bring it to me to the exit so I did not have to walk all the way again as it was already getting late. So kind and thoughtful. I
The hike to La Chorrera and El Chiflon waterfalls was amazing! Beautiful drive from Bogota to the trail. Our guide Alejandro was great. He knew so much interesting info about the area and was really friendly. The trail was really well maintained. It was a moderately hard hike especially if you haven’t had time to acclimate to the elevation but could easily stop and rest if needed. The views were amazing the whole way. Would highly recommend. It was the best part of our trip to Bogota and Cartagena for sure!
This excursion was wonderful. The hike was strenuous but well worth the views. We were picked up from our hotel at 8 am, we had a one hour car ride with stunning views to the hiking trail and we hiked for ~2.5 hours through the mountain and to the falls. We stopped for a delicious lunch on the way back from our hike. Our guide was WONDERFUL!
The hike itself is awesome, not too much vertical however the path has a very uneven surface. It was raining the day we went and were very glad we had hiking shoes, good idea regardless if raining or not. It was also foggy but we lucked out and had a break in the weather just in time to see the whole waterfall. Our guide, Andres, was very informative almost to a fault. We stopped and had lunch on the path which was one of our best meals of our trip to Colombia, I would highly recommend eating on the hike. Overall, I would recommend this excursion.
We had an awesome time hiking to the two waterfalls. José was the perfect guide on the trip, and he took into consideration our meal preferences when selecting the lunch spot. We would definitely do this tour again. Before you book, contact the agency and ask when José would be available to serve as your guide!
This was the highlight of my trip. You definitely have to be in the mood to do some serious hiking. Wet, soaked, muddy rocky path. A few serious inclines. Cloud forest environment. Once you get on the path, there are a few stopping points with docents to provide info. The main destination is the La Chorrera, a huge, magnificent, breathtaking cascade waterfall. You get to walk right up to it, face to face. There are also some great little spots along the way. EL Chiflon is the smaller cascade. You can stop there first or on the way back. You actually get to walk behind that one. You’ll take thousands of pictures. Treat yourself to the Cuban restaurant on site and have a mojito, it comes with a free demonstration and history lesson.
We loved the hike, so refreshing away from the city. It’s not an easy hike especially didn’t have enough time to acclimate the altitude. But we made it. The trail wasn’t too bad or muddy even after yesterday,s rain. Peter our guide was wonderful, we had a tasty lunch after the hike.
This was an amazing experience. Not only was the hike beautiful but the surrounding area was, as others pointed out, breathtaking. Even if you are not a hiker, I would recommend the trip out to the smaller El Chiflon waterfall which is not as strenuous. I am a hiker so thoroughly enjoyed the climb to El Chorrera. Our guide, Felipe, was awesome and provided not just interesting information but piqued all of our senses (including playing his instrument). I love his passion and enthusiasm.
I enjoyed getting out of the city and experiencing this hike. The park is beautiful. The actual activity was a bit tougher than I expected - would definitely recommend good hiking shoes with grips, and ensure you are up for lots of steep inclines and rocks. This attraction had less commentary about history, etc. It was mainly focused on the walk and being in nature.
Andres, a self proclaimed "waterfall nerd" was our guide through this hike. It was absolutely my favorite experience of the trip to Bogotá. On the way we grabbed snacks and coffee from a shop, and we were told all about the neighborhoods and the scenery that we passed through over the mountain. It was a leisurely ride through incredible mountains and trees. Everyone we encountered was hospitable and welcoming. The hike itself was rough, a little muddy, and it rained for a portion of the day with clear skies for most of it. The weather didn't bother us at all, in fact it made it a bit more magical. Andres knows his stuff and made this excursion worthwhile. The dancing mojito man capped off the day with empanadas and drinks. I highly recommend this excursion and Andres as your guide.
