Lovely hike to the lagoon. Majority of the hike was on a rock path built by the indigenous as a route to bogota. It’s not a smooth trail though - more like a stone wall texture so those with balance issues, steer clear. Wonderful new foliage to discover, a few birds and some great views of the countryside.

Very interesting tour with Eli, she knows much about the paramo and landscapes are beautiful. Very nice tour that I recommend.
The guide was very knowledgeable on plant life and history and local culture. There were some good photo opportunities at the lagoon and the Hermitage, including good views of the city from the mountain. The walking part was gentle, I think a little under four miles total, with shallow inclines. Some rock hopping was needed to get over puddles. Breakfast and lunch were at the same place and were both tasty. There were vegetarian options available. There was also some chocolate sampling and the option to buy, though they weren't pushy about selling. Overall, a fun and educational day out.
Amazing hiking tour in a Páramo close to Bogotá. Really beautiful flora and great views of the Laguna de Teusacá. The path was a beautiful historic stone paved historic way and good to walk even in wet weather. Lorena was a great and really nice tour guide, with a very in-depth knowledge about the biology, geography, history and especially anthropology of the area and its past and current inhabitants. She gave us a great insight to the live in this part of Colombia. I highly recommend this tour when you want to escape the busy loud city and enjoy some peace and quiet in nature.
We had an amazing hike with Daniel and his dog Appa. He taught us a lot about the different plants and how critical the ecosystem is to the water supply. It is a beautiful landscape and we had the perfect weather for it. The view at Guadalupe was incredible, we were looking down at Monserrate and across the whole city. The lunch and breakfast were also very good. This was our 7th day here and our favorite tour that we have done in Bogota.
Jackie was very informative and fun. We had a great day exploring the Andean highlands and eating Excellent Colombian food.
I did the Paramo hike with Lorena, and would absolutely recommend her as a guide! She knew so much about the landscape and biodiversity of the Paramo, and could speak about all the different places in depth! It was a lovely trip and the landscape we saw was incredible! Definitely worth doing while in Bogotá!
Wonderful hike to the beautiful Paramo of Matarredonda led by our fabulous guide, Lorena. Lorena was very knowledgeable of the Paramo ecology and how critical it is to the Bogata water supply. With a degree in anthropology, Lorena also put in context how important the Paramo was to the indigenous people. The tour also included a visit to Guadalupe with its Vista view of Bogota, and also a wonderful breakfast and lunch. After being in the hustle and bottle of Bogata it was refreshing to experience the peace, tranquility, beauty and fresh air of the Paramo.
Andres was the most incredible tour guide! He was friendly, incredibly knowledgeable, and patient. We were a family of 6 (grandparents, parents, and 2 elementary age kids). Andres and Wilson (our driver) were a pleasure to tour with. With it being a small group (10 max), it was a great way to really learn everything we wanted to. The breakfast was lovely - both Colombian and more 'American' versions available. I actually really loved the hostel where we met, too. I wish we'd had time to go back and have a drink at the Crazy Croc. The drive to the paramo was about a half hour, and we spent about 3 hours on a very simple hike (and back). There were some puddles and rocks, but I feel like it's a hike that really anyone can do. No need to have any athletic prowess, as my mom has sciatica pain and doesn't walk much. She was able to do most of the hike. After the hike, there is a little time for rest and snacks (not included) before going to see Guadalupe - where the views are more stunning than Monserrate! in fact, it's even higher than Monserrate! The day ended with a lovely lunch at the same spot as the breakfast. Wilson was even so kind as to take us back to our airbnb for a little extra cash.
Great experience! Guide Nick is very kind and speak english very well. Food included is very good. Landscapes are wonderful.
This excursion (led by the fabulous Andrea) was by far the highlight of our trip. Andrea brought her knowledge, humor, and warmth to what was already a visual and spiritual experience. Highly recommended, especially given the fact that this was a replacement excursion for our originally scheduled hike. Do yourself a favor and and book this now; I can’t imagine you’ll regret it.
Nick was fantastic! This was a great tour and felt very personalized. Nick knew so much about the area. It was awesome! The hike in the paramo was so much fun.
This hike was spectacular and we highly recommend it. Nicolas was an incredible guide, so knowledgeable and experienced.
Our guide, Yuli, was great! I loved learning more about the Paramo and the hike was very easy. It was a 1 hr 45 min hike total, to thr laguna and back. Will definitely use them for another tour when I’m in Bogota next time!
A spiritual and magic day in the high Andean forest and Guadalupe mountain. The fauna, the view, the environment so peaceful and beautiful it took my breath away. Also the enormous view over Bogota was amazing. This trip is a must if you are in Bogota. The food was also delicious. Also we had the best guide, Alejandro, Thank you for making this day so memorable and beautiful. Luz Marina
I really wanted to see a paramo and I was able to see all its beauty at Parque Ecologico Matarredonda. There are at least many paths to take in this park but since I was on a private tour, I could choose which one to go which was the mini waterfall (Las Cascada de la Abuela). I enjoyed the view and wondered what life was like for the Musicas in the past. On the day I went, the sky was clear and the infamous fog was not seen at all. Not only that, a Muisca wise man and his family passed and chatted briefly with us. Alejo was my intrepid guide and we had a blast just vibing with life and nature. You never know who you meet at this ecological park!
This tour is an informative and well-constructed introduction to the páramo landscape, a sort of above-the-treeline ecosystem that exists exclusively in South/Central America and predominantly in Colombia. The páramo visited is located close to Bogotá, and the weekend drive is fascinating due to the plethora of bicycle riders plying up the mountains. The hike begins with breakfast at the entrance to a national park, and the hike itself progresses from there to Guadeloupe, overlooking Bogotá from the hill adjacent to Monserrate. Along the way, the guide provides great detail on the history of the route, which was originally created by indigenous peoples as a trading route before being further developed by the Spanish. In sections, hiking is on top of a colonial/post-colonial stone road. This tour offers a great balance of natural scenery in both the páramo and the high Andean forest ecosystems, two good meals at the beginning and end respectively, a fantastic city viewpoint from a vantage point that tourists typically miss (Guadeloupe is far less accessible than Monserrate), and a comfortable hike all within close proximity to the city itself. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone looking to get outside Bogotá to see its natural surroundings while gaining exposure to the history and culture of the environment.
The tour is incredible, and very relaxed, I highly recommend it, the view is so beautiful The guide was super attentive and friendly, I really had a great time
Recomiendo totalmente! Gracias Andrea :)
