It was a nice tour the driver and our host Esteban were very attentive to all the questions, easy pick up, comfortable transportation, enough time, perfect ride!!!
Was well organized, bus was comfortable with wifi, we got some historical insight from the guide, who was speaking very good English
The salt Cathedral is a good place to visit. It's a group bus tour starting from Bogota. The driver and the guide was polite. The guide was able to communicate well in English. Had a good time in the Cathedral, Zipaquira city centre and had good Columbian food in the restaurant(own expense). Also tasted Columbian coffee(included in the tour). Booked this tour only a day before my trip but the response was good.
Nice and chill day to explore the church, the tour guide was super informative and helpful with any questions I had
It's quite a drive to get up to the Salt Cathedrat, so it was really nice to have an ad transport option available. The day was a little bit more than we expected, however, and the lunch stop was much longer than we expected, but it was still a beautiful one and a great day.
Not what was advertised or expected. The day took 12 hours not 8 and there was no free time. The description sounded like you could buy lunch during your free time but we were taken to an overpriced touristy restaurant. The salt cathedral itself is OK but mostly just sculptures of crosses with lots of shops trying to sell you stuff. Our guide was great but I felt uncomfortable being th only English speaker in a group of 16.
Mateo did a great job as our tour guide to the Salt Cathedral of Zipaquirá. He was knowledgeable, organized, and made the experience enjoyable from start to finish. The lunch restaurant was excellent and a highlight of the day. The only suggestion would be to allow a bit more time to explore the local shops in the town. Overall, a wonderful tour experience!
Salt Cathedral is a must! It os just impressive... if you have not seen pictures of it (or even if you have), try to create a mental image of it... it is bigger and more stunning than that 😊. Our driver Carlos and guide Nestor were amazing.
Very impressive and beautiful cathedral. This experience made the day easy with transportation built in. Guide was nice as well!
Juanfe and Will did everything right! Juanfe explains incredibly good in Spanish and English and he gave us always the best data from the place and directions in order to enjoy the Zipaquira tour. The place were we ate was really good (they even serve big plates that can be shared to more than one people) and the coffee they take us was great.
The Cathedral is a wonderfull place and the town is very cute and welcoming. Its my second time here. Def would recommend. Our guide was Mateo. Just excelent.
We booked the shared group tour to Zipaquira last-minute around 7 PM and promptly received our confirmation for the pick-up the very next day. The contact through Whatsapp was clear and went very well. The tour itself started at 9 AM and ended around 4:30 PM. We went to the city center of Zipaquira after which our group (which existed of only 6 for the day) visited the Salt Cathedral. For personal reasons we decided to skip the second part and head back into the town center for our own walk. Our guide, Estéban, was very understanding and helped us plan our short walk away from the group. Other than that, he gave us interesting information during the 1,5 hour bus ride and kept us entertained. For those wondering about logistics: the bus offered free WiFi, lunch is not included (but can either be ordered at the restaurant stopped or somewhere else if you prefer). All in all, the tour definitely kept up with our expectations and we ended the day happy to have booked it. If you have more time in Bogotá, it's definitely possible to use public transport to reach Zipaquirá, but the comfort, safety and logistical reassurance of this group tour was well worth the money for us.
The Salt Cathedral completely beat my expectations by massive scale and the artistic details carved directly into the salt mines which is something you must witness in person. The trip logistics were seamless, largely thanks to our incredible guide, Esteban. He did a fantastic job managing the group and keeping everyone happy. I highly recommend this tour for anyone visiting Bogotá!
Amazing experience, the guide was friendly and offered to help taking pictures. Good explanation and communication about meeting points
Interesting and unique. The village is very warm and welcoming. This is a great experience in Bogota
This is advertised as an English and Spanish tour, but I was the only English speaker on my tour and while the tour guide did translate some of the tour for me, there was a lot he didn’t. He spoke about Colombian history and geography for about 30 minutes on the way there and it was all in Spanish. Don’t advertise this tour as bilingual if it isn’t truly bilingual.
Had a brilliant day with our guide Nestor, who was very polite and explained everything in lots of detail. Would highly recommend.
We had an amazing trip to Salt Cathedral. Our guide, Tatiana, was amazing, helpful and knowledgeable. She made our road trip fun and joyful. The Salt Cathedral itself is worth visiting: history of the place, audioguide tour, exploring the cathedral and a maze of shopping routes - made 2 hours there feel like a few minutes. Tatiana then took us to taste local food and to explore the city. Due to the small size of the group it felt like a private tour where we met with other international travelers and spent hours talking and sharing our experiences. Thank you, Tatiana, for making this journey unforgettable!
Overall a good experience! Very cool to learn the history behind the Salt Cathedral. Guide was great!
The Salt Cathedral is immense! It’s very beautiful and quite ornately decorated. The lighting looks amazing and the fact that it is a functional church makes it even more incredible! I highly recommend going to see this Colombian wonder and spend some time marvelling at the design or sit in quiet contemplation.
I felt like this tour provided us with minimal guidance. They were not too communicative on where to meetup, I would have appreciated reference pictures and reminders day of. When we got to the salt mine the instructor ditched us and left us with a tour guide at the site or audio headset tour for English speakers. After the tour we had to wait a bit for bus to pick us up then we had lunch at Zipaquira. The lunch was amazing if it weren't for the great meal I would have left 2 stars.
It was sold as English with a guide. The entire tour was in Spanish. An audio device was provided but did not convey one tenth of what the tour guide did. Very disappointing.
Not as crowded as they tell you. It is so much better than expected. We took a Uber for a round trip that costed us less than $100, including 2 hours waiting time. Try to avoid rush hours because traffic is very bad in Bogota.
An interesting destination. The guide was amazing, friendly and helpful. Her job is hard. It’s like herding cats. Give people a time to meet and invariably they don’t bother. She had the patience of a saint. Her English was fantastic. The driver did so well in the horrendous traffic. The communal meal was fab. It’s always great to chat to people from other parts of the world. Language has no barriers in these situations and it’s what makes travel so awesome.
Great day! Enjoyed this solo trip with a energetic and knowledgeable young woman guide, Tatiana, I believe. In addition to the cathedral, Zipaquira was an interesting town to wander around.
Small group tour, excellent explabation of the sights. Our guide took us to a very nice typical restaurant. The cathedral tour was by audio tour. Sebastian was excellent
Our guide did a great job helping us navigate the crowds of people to see this amazing place . He took us to a place to have lunch after and got us back to our bus. It was a pleasant event .
Camino (Tour Guide) was great and made an effort to explain landmarks to me in English. I appreciate this because most others on this tour spoke Spanish.
The tour unfolded as advertised. Estaban was an excellent guide. Bilingual and informative. The salt cathedral was a very good place to visit
It was a whole lot more than what I was expecting. A random guy singing opera in one of the alcoves. Very moving! Our guide Estaban took great care of us and made sure we took in the highlights.
A very pleasant and enjoyable experience. An attentive and friendly tour guide who acted professionally and courteously 100% of the trip. It’s a joy providing this rating. Highly recommend this tour. Money well spent!
Diego and Carmelo (our driver) were fantastic. They were attentive and knowledgeable and really made the experience that much better. The activity itself was very memorable. The town of Zipaquira is quaint and full of history, with great little restaurants. The Salt Cathedral is impressive! Be sure to check out the video that details the history and the process. It’s really amazing to experience such a unique place. Diego does not accompany you during this tour as you have your own guided tour with the ticket, but he and Carmelo wait for you at the exit. The restaurant after the cathedral was a treat as well. The food was delicious and really left us full for the rest of the day. Staff were very friendly and attentive. Overall, it was a fantastic day!!
Sabastian is the best tourist guide. He explained everything very clearly and everything went smoothly because of him. Our bus driver also did a great job.
Great experience, our guide Diego was super informative and attentive. He explained everything about the mine and the town plus the cathedral is amazing. A wonderful day trip from the city
This was a great trip. We took a bus to the Salt Cathedral and were able to tour and learn the history behind it. We then had an amazing meal at a local restaurant. Our host was amazing. Great experience!
Even though we were only three people on that day and all 3 of us came earlier to the pick-up spot , the tour started only on time mentioned in the website .This shows the Tour Company's professional approch .The young tour guide Esteban was very friendly and shared all necessary information about the places visted by us . Salt Mine (which is 1st wonder of Colombia,) which is also called Salt Cathedral is a "Must See" place in Bogota .It was a good tour.
Cancel your tour now. There are currently strikes and protests blocking the streets and roads out of the city. Such a situation obviously doesn’t merit a 1 star review for a business since it as protests and strikes are out of their control. There are many things in the tour company’s control. How soon they notify their clients. Whether they offer full refunds. Many additional factors. I can advise you all with certainty that this Tour Company WILL NOT advise you before you arrive that the tour cannot occur. They will then try to move you to another, like their “Hop On Hop Off” tour. Additionally, they will not offer a full refund since it is within the 24 hour period, even though they could have advised their clients ahead of time so the client could choose whether or not to cancel. Even though the protests and strikes are out of the control of the client, the tour company keeps part of what is paid. It is important to be able to trust the companies we do business with. I write this only after attempting to resolve the situation amicably with the tour company. Everyone should be fully informed of the situation so that they can make a proper decision as to whether or not they should cancel or continue, but there is currently no end in site for these roadblocks since the protests are tied to the costs of diesel.
Salt mines were incredible and very beautiful. Even better was our tour guide Sebastian. Luckily, we chose a festival day (holiday) so there was no traffic and it allowed us to spend more time in the mines as well as in the town. Though lunch was not included, Sebastian took us to a wonderful spot for some authentic Colombian cuisine, complete with a live musical duo.
Fun day trip from Bogota! Families & solo travellers on our tour and everyone had a good experience. Tour guide helped me navigate vegan options at lunch spot which was appreciated.
Lovely tour of the salt mines! And the restaurant they took us to for lunch had delicious food and live music! Only wish we had more time to explore the cathedral, as one could easily spend a full 5 hours there exploring the various museums and attractions.
Amazing place with stunning scenes. I really enjoyed the time with tourguide Camilo. Good energy and knows what he talks about.
Visiting this place was an inmersion of cultural knowledge about Colombian traditions and religious principles. I reccommend to visit this place.
The Salt Cathedral is a wonder to behold. Not only for the sheer amount of work it took to create but also the aesthetics of faith and social messages it conveys. The journey dawn is really Dantesque (dramatic me) however, at every turn new sights and new intimate experiences awaits the traveler. The cathedral at the end takes your breath away. Highly recommended. Also, shout out to Diego Vela, our guide who made the trip epic.
The tour of the salt cathedral was quite interesting. Multiple mine clearings with depections of the Stations of The Cross and then large chambers for holding Mass. Really an amazing accomplishment by the miners. Your guide was a super nice guy and quite informative. City tour and lunch were great. Beer is cheap. Great day but what made it better was I left my prescription sunglasses in the trip van. The tour operator texted me later and arranged to get them to my hotel. Really top flight! Next time to Bogota I'll book through these folks!
Fantastic guided tour that covered the Salt Cathedral, walking tour of Zipaquira and lunch at an amazing Colombian bbq restaurant. Would 100% recommend doing the morning tour. Easy pick up from Candelaria and Camilo was an amazing guide and really informative throughout. Ending at a traditional Colombian restaurant was an unexpected treat with fantastic BBQ and mariachi band to boot.
Great day trip to the Salt Cathedral, both impressive and interesting, and Xiomara our tour guide was exceptional in giving us details and stories along the way to Zipaquirá as well as being very passionate about her job. i highly recommend this trip !
The tour was really well organised, the only drawback is that in the salt cathedral you only have an audio guide and not a real one. It would enhance the tour massively if the operator would offer that especially for the price which is on the higher end.
I loved every single part of the trip. Customer service from the company “Bogota City Bus” was very supportive and the followed up with us until we were at the bus. Our local guide Luis was fun and very knowledgeable. I’ll book with you again! Hopefully soon. 😉 Ann
The cathedral itself is real nice and the tour there very informative. However, we did not have enough time to enjoy everything because of the tour schedule. Probably better to go on your own.
