I had a great time. I would recommend to anyone. He was very knowledgeable and took is to all the hot spots
We loved this tour to get to know the culture and sites of Bogota. Juan was incredibly knowledgeable about the LGBT experience in the city and his country. We loved learning about the history and being shown around so we could better enjoy the town on our visit.
Great tour! Very informative and interesting. I would recommend this tour first before any other plans so if you want to visit places after you can!
This is an excellent tour. The guide was extremely knowledgeable and was able to separate the tour into three sections. He was able to ensure we hit spots before they closed or after they opened to ensure we had an optimal experience. There were so many tidbits and extra pieces of information that we would never have known, especially as he showed us some of the best “hole in the wall” spots.
Fantastic experience. Guide super skilled and helpful. A comprehensive tour over Bogota night life. Recommend.
Outstanding tour with Juan. A wonderful introduction to Bogotá and highly recommended for early in your trip to orient you to gay nightlife, culture, shopping, and other extra curricular offerings around Chapinero. Juan is a first rate cultural ambassador and a very accommodating host, eager to facilitate an enjoyable visit. With the later tour time we had time to visit several locations of particular interest to me at length without any hurry. Bring extra cash for any add-ons you might be interested in. Juan’s open mindedness and good naturedness were refreshing and delightful in an otherwise somewhat chaotic neighborhood that would have been intimidating to discover on my own. He seems to know all the best places including dozens of hidden gems that I could certainly not have found on my own. Highly recommended!
Juan was an excellent guide. He tailored the tour to my desires and showed me a bunch of places that would have been difficult or impossible to find on my own. It was an excellent introduction to Bogota.
My partner and I had an incredible experience on Juan’s tour. He’s a fantastic communicator and listener, and his knowledge of Bogota’s gay culture is unmatched. Although we’d visited Bogota before, it wasn’t until this tour that we truly understood the depth and vibrancy of the LGBTQ+ scene here. Juan’s insights saved us time, money, and confusion—he answered every question and shared tips you won’t find in any guidebook or online forum. We took all three parts of the tour, and each one was packed with valuable information and cultural stories. Staying in Chapinero made everything walkable and easy. If you want to make the most of your time in Bogota, book with Juan. Even an online session would be worth it! This tour is a must for anyone looking to connect with the local LGBTQ+ community. Juan is simply the best—I wish every city had someone like him!
Juan is a very knowledgeable and personable host, who speaks excellent English, which made the whole tour very easy and enjoyable.
Very extensive knowledge about the culture, worth every penny. Food in the restaurant was amazing. We went to different places and everything was amazing.
Great way to explore the city and feel settled in a new destination. Host was great and informative.
Juan gave a great tour of many of the gay places of interest in Bogota, which can be a bit hard to locate as they are pretty discrete. He showed us many inconspicuous doors and the important doorbells one needs to gain access. He also told us what we could expect to find inside the doors. He showed us around the various gay bars, which are much easier to locate and what kind of scene we'd find when we ventured it. I'd recommend his tour to avoid having to search for these somewhat hidden spots. There aren't many rainbow flags flying around Bogota, but he pointed out some subtle clues that can help the gay traveler find some welcoming places.
Juan is a perfect guy who is knowledgeable about the city and passionate about sharing the LGBT+ life in Bogotá. I think no one could know the whereabouts of all those cafes, saunas, theatres, bars, etc. as they are so discrete around the city. Also I never thought the tour would be that in-depth (in an excellent way) such that you can immediately start engaging with the vibrant gay activities right after the tour. Thank you Juan for the wonderful night.
Bogotá’s Chapinero neighborhood has so many gay bars, clubs, cafes, and saunas that it can be overwhelming. Juan gave an excellent tour of Bogotá’s gayborhood, helping you find any kind of scene you’re into. Highly recommended!
extremely bad directions to first stop we missed the bus from their own bad directions had to take another taxi to meet bus at stop 3
If you’re looking for a tour that’s far from the typical, this one is for you! Our tour of Bogotá’s gay district with Juan was one of the most unique and personalized experiences I’ve had. Unlike most tours with rigid itineraries, this one is all about what you want to do. Juan tailors the whole evening to your preferences, whether that means spending more time at a bar you’re vibing with, grabbing drinks at a different spot, or skipping a location altogether if it’s not your scene. The flexibility was a huge plus, and I really appreciated the freedom to go with the flow. There were only three of us on the tour, and we all got along really well, so the dynamic was perfect. But I did wonder how it might work with a larger group—who gets to decide where to go or how long to stay? Either way, the tour is set up in a way that you can make it your own. Juan was an amazing guide—knowledgeable, friendly, and really passionate about showing off the best of Bogotá’s gay district. Not only did he introduce us to some fantastic spots, but he also made sure we were comfortable, and shared a lot of interesting facts about the local LGBTQ+ culture. Pro tip: If you’re staying in Bogotá for a few days, I highly recommend doing this tour on your first night! It’ll give you a great sense of where to go each evening, and you’ll feel much more confident navigating the nightlife after getting Juan’s insider tips. Overall, this was a fantastic, fun night, and I’d recommend it to anyone who wants to experience the heart of Bogotá’s LGBTQ+ scene in a laid-back, personalized way.
Very interesting and informative tour. A good overview of the socio cultural background of the LGBTQI community. We went to see where the different venues of Chapinero are and you can go in and spend time in places of interest. We went into 2 cafe/restaurants and 2 bars. Juan is very friendly, engaging and informative guide. Would highly recommend
The tour guide, Juan, initially gave a rough menu of things he likes to cover in the tour and asked me if there are any parts that I'd like to skip or not spend too much time at. He then built the tour around my interests. We checked out quite a few spaces relevant to the queer life and culture of the city and had the option of participating with any of the business I liked. Over all, time well-spent with lots to learn
Juan is incredibly knowledgeable of the area and the history. I learned so much from him. Things i didn't even know. I have been to Bogota before many times...but this tour will open your eyes in a different way. He had plenty of time to show around and gives you the choice to experience any of the places you visit. I really really really recommend this tour. I speak spanish but his english was perfect. THANK YOU JUAN.
Helpful information for the night life. Very good information for a person who doesn't know the seem.
With the tour guide we visited all the local gay establishments with a breife description of each. He also touched upon the history and culture of the LBGQT community in Bogota.
Thank you for a wonderful tour Juan. It was very interesting and I appreciate your knowledge of the city. Although many of the bars were closed due to the holiday, I was able to go back and visit the next night. Future guests! Let Juan know what you want to see and do. He will customize the tour for you, and even stop in a location or two if you’d like to have a drink, bite to eat, or whatever. Don’t be bashful. The length of the tour varies on what you like to do.
Touring the Gay District with Juan was great. What I like most about this tour was that even if it was just one person, Juan still continued the tour. Since it was just me, the tour was tailored to my interests which was great. Not only did Juan show me around the neighborhood, he even stopped at locations by request, if I wanted to enjoy some time there. What I enjoyed most was his willingness to accommodate me at any stop of the tour, which I didn't take advantage of but recommended if you want to stop at some of the sensual places. The tour was very informative and helpful for those spending more than 3 days in Bogota. I read in a different review about this being a great first tour if you land and are settled before the start times... I highly recommend taking the route, if it as available on day of arrival. I was settled in my hotel by 3pm and took the at 7pm tour. There's a bonus, he also offers other tours, if you want to do additional tours with him.
Nice little tour. It was like walking around the neighborhood with a good friend. Gives you lots of information so you know what to expect of the bars/restaurants/other businesses. Just make sure you're doing this on a weekend if your looking for a night of partying. I wasn't, so it was no problem. Still a lot to do for a weekday.
Was an interesting informative tour with a super friendly guide who showed me everything and stopped wherever I wanted to get something to eat or drink to my taste. I would book it again with him anytime.
The tour is tailored to one’s own interests so if you know what you want to see and do it will help the guide to focus on these areas to give you a better understanding of the gay district. Don’t be afraid to ask questions.
Even though it says it has one of the largest gay venues anywhere, unless you are willing to pay a lot of money, it feels like a whorehouse of prostitutes, if you’re into that you would probably love it a number of older men will not like that statement, it’s not love is sex for sale. The other point, I have travelled around the world numerous times and this city personal I felt unsafe. It was filthy dirty, just didn’t get this city, would not be returning.
As a first-time visitor to Bogotá, I’m incredibly glad that I booked Juan to show me the neighborhood. He tailored the tour to my interests and gave me clear guideposts to find my way when I am on my own. Many places of interest are not marked and are easy for visitors to miss, so Juan was a valuable resource showing what lies beyond the surface. He’s good-humored and a great conversationalist, and I hope to book him for one of his other tours before I leave.
Juan's tour was an excellent introduction to the gay neighborhood and the gay history of Bogotá. From the start, he asked us what our expectations were and what we wanted to see. He has a very organized three part tour that he will customize to your liking. The tour was comprehensive and informative, all questions were answered. In addition, throughout the night options were presented to the group regarding what was seen. If you don't get the tour you want, I suspect it might be because you didn't let your expectations be known. Highly recommend!
This tour was amazing! Juan was so knowledgeable and kind. He has the whole tour planned out, but you can customize if there are certain types of bars/restaurants/scenes that you like. He knows everything! He answered all our questions and gave us tips. He even checked in with us via text to make sure we were enjoying our time at Theatron after he dropped us off there. Honestly, I never would have walked these streets alone, the tour makes it all possible and fun. It's good to have a good guide and Juan was exactly that! PS the restaurant scene in Bogota is amazing.
The guide was super flexible, in English, in tailoring the tour to my needs, especially given that it was a (very) small group. Interesting facts a plenty about the Bogota gay scene and really useful to have venues and shops etc pointed out we many of them are well hidden. We don’t stop at the venues but that’s not the point of this tour
I’ve done many tours with Viator that was top notch and this experience fell way below what I come to expect from Viator approved tours. The guide was bilingual but only would speak in one language, my friend speaks Spanish and I speak English, I do understand Spanish but the fact that he refused to repeat in English was a turn off. Also he took us in dark places that wasn’t open and spoke a long time in areas that was very shady. I recommend researching and decide which nightclub you want to attend.
Excellent host. Interesting. Great food especially if you like sweets/desserts. Great restaurant stops.
I was meeting up with a nice man on a first date. We had a blast! The guide was very informative and never once flinched at any of our questions about LGBTQ+ issues and social topics. Even willing to explain words to people unfamiliar with the gay lifestyle.
It felt reassuring to meet Juan and do this tour when arriving Bogota to be shown around and get to know the area, especially in the evening and to know where is safe. Juan is very knowledgeable and also does other tours. Highly recommended. Thank you!
The tour guide, Juan, gave my partner and me an interesting and engaging (approx. 2 hour) tour of the Bogota gay district. The district is somewhat spread out and some of the clubs are very discreet (just a door), so you would never find out about much of it without a guide or a lot of online research. Juan was very knowledgeable about the history of LGBT rights in Columbia from the 1990s onward; about recent successes (I had no idea Bogota has a lesbian mayor!) and about the history of the gay district. He also pointed out interesting peculiarities to the local gay scene: for example, it's considered potentially dangerous to hook up with someone on an app like Grindr and then invite them back to your apartment, so there are a LOT of sex clubs in Bogota where guys can hook up in a safe and secure environment. The tour included stopping by a local bar/resto to chat and take in the passing scene. Juan was very interested in tailoring the tour to our particular interests. He is also very knowledgeable about lesbian bars and clubs, so the tour won't just be of interest to guys.
Juan was so amazing and accommodating. The tour is organized in a great way. Got to see so much! Totally got an insiders look because there are so many options.
Juan was a great tour guide and showed us all of the areas we would have never found on our own. We were able to customize our tour and also worked in a couple rest breaks during it. For visitors to Bogota, this should be the first tour as soon as you arrive!
Juan is just amazing. Great guide..Good fun and he really makes you excited about wanting to explore Bogota and all its amazing scene. I could not recommend this tour enough. It.is excellent and more than value for money
Juan is an amazing tour guide! He took time to let me customize the tour and spend time in the places I wanted to see the most. Juan is fun and full of knowledge. My time is Bogotá certainly wouldn't have been the same without this tour. It's really a must-do!
Super informative and helpful. What a great tour. Very thorough, detailed, fun, and exciting. Juan is a true professional and was very knowledgeable about the city and highlighted key details to help any foreigner navigate the gay district. He also was very patient and kind answering my many questions. Highly recommend.
He was a great tour guide with a lot of knowledge and experience. He also asked questions to allow me to customize the experience. Definitely book this tour if you want the inside info about the largest gay area of Bogota in Chapinero.
Great intro to gay entertainment places in the gayborhood! Juan is delightful and knowledgeable! If you are coming to Bogotá and want to know where to eat, drink and party, spend an evening with Juan!
I HIGHLY recommend this for everyone who wants to know about the best LGBTQ scene and activities in Bogota. My guide knows EVERYTHING. He showed me at least 100 different places to enjoy in one neighborhood. I was impressed by how active and safe the neighborhood is. I also learned a lot of impressive history about LGBTQ rights in Colombia and how this neighborhood is formed. This experience was more than I could ask for.
Juan is a knowledgeable, professional and fun filled Guide. No matter what your interests are, he has a customized experience.
Juan Benitez was an excellent tour guide. He was very knowledgeable and showed us many places that we would have never known existed. This was a great tour for us as first time visitors.
I learned a lot about Colombian history and queer history. I don’t think I would have gotten this kind of experience if I went around the city on my own. I also enjoyed meeting Juan.
Great way to get to know the neighborhood and LGBTQ community and the progress in the past decade including the legal rights. I lived in La Candelaria area and just walking with Juan gave a good idea about this area that I would not have done. Juan is very patient and takes more time to go beyond and help.
It was a nice little walk around the town very informative, Learned a little bit of the history of the gay culture. Also a lot of locations that I would’ve never known about if it wasn’t for the guide.
