It is recommended to go as early as possible because of the traffic. Also wear layers because it is less cold then Bogota city

We had a great time at the Coffee Farm Experience Day Tour. Everything was well organised and clearly communicated. The tour itself was informative and engaging - thank you!
Did a day trip to Coloma Coffee Plantation with George booked through GetYourGuide. Fantastic guide. So friendly and knowledgeable. Lily from Coloma was great. Informative and fun tour. Thanks
This was a fun and comprehensive experience into the entire process and history of coffee making in Colombia. I highly recommend.
I do not recommend this company, unfortunately. I contacted them months ahead to organize the private tour around Salento. My emails were responded with 1-2 weeks delays, even if prompted. Finally I took the tour with our family of 9. Biggest problem was transportation. They have given us super old and weak 10- persons minibus that had bug issues to drive upwards on slippery and muddy roads to both Cocora and coffee farm. Also, whenever we left the car and returned to it the car was abandoned by the driver and our guide could not call the driver due to poor network reception. Guiding itself was ok. Unfortunately the restaurant that was recommended by the guide for lunch did not manage to serve us ANY food for close to 2 hours and we had to leave hungry and angry not to miss coffee experience. Finally, the guide and driver recommended a shorter rural road to go back to Armenia at night, and yes distance-wise it was shorter, but time-wise it took twice the amount of time to get back due to the aforementioned car condition, as we drove 5-10km (-5mil) per hour. To sum up: organization wise it was very poor.
Juan Camillo is an AMAZING tour guide. So incredibly knowledgeable. We had the best day hiking the Cocora valley and enjoying the coffee farm and walking around Salento. Super well organised trip and well worth the money. Thank you Juan and Gran Colombia for amazing organisation
This was fun and interesting trip to a coffee farm. Understand, the drive to get to the coffee farm is about 2 1/2 hours each way. The tour was well worth it, but it does make for a long day and a lot of time in the car. Our tour guide and driver, Camilo, was a safe driver and interesting to talk to. The coffee farm experience was fun and educational. our coffee farm guide was very knowledgeable and spoke perfect English. . We stopped for lunch on the way, a typical Colombian lunch. If you dont have a full day to commit, this is probably not the trip for you, otherwise we highly recommend it.
Steven was a tremendous guide for this tour!!! Gave all sort of great info about Bogota and the region as we drove to Fusa. We had an opportunity to taste some wonderful local fruits before our tour which we loved. At Hacienda Coloma, Camillo took over and gave us a great time. The introduction to the tropical plants in the garden at the hacienda was interesting, and the time strolling the property was delightful. We of course then got a crash course in the coffee lifecycle, picked some coffee cherries, and saw the process to turn the seeds into the delicious brown liquid we love. Got to taste the cafe tinto along with the coffee liqueur (that we bought a bottle of) and purchased a shot of espresso. After the education on the production of high quality coffee, we could taste the care that went into the cup we drank from. The lunch afterwards was very good, and the view was a nice backdrop. Come do this tour, like now! My recommendation to travelers, if you’re prone to motion sickness come prepared as the road is in the Andes and very winding.
One of the best tour in Bogotá, not sure if many people know about it, but definitely worth doing it, the tour guide was amazing, probably one the best ones I ever did.
Absolutely amazing. Very clear communication with Gran Colombia Tours, very helpful staff. We went to a coffee farm where our guide Marlon was incredibly kind, knowledgeable, and considerate of our experience. Highly recommended. It was our favourite part of our trip.
This is a great day trip if you love coffee. You will learn the whole process and what makes a good coffee. Tour guide Sara and our driver were great. Extra note: bring some mosquito repellent for when you are picking the coffee berrys.
I went in knowing nothing about coffee production and this was perfect for me. Started right from the plants in the ground with the chickens walking around and finished drinking coffee and rum. Highly recommend.
I have learned a lot and the process of planting the beans all the way into roasting the beans and everything was explained so fully it was a beautiful experience and I will never forget it I really enjoyed everything about the place the next time I'm going to stay at the hacienda because it has culture
The tour was wonderful, and I learned a lot about the coffee process from planting the seed to roasting the beans. I enjoyed the lunch at the Colona Hacienda, it was my first time I had Ajiaco. Camilo did a fine job picking me up at the hotel, bringing me to Fusagasuga and back home. We had great conversations along the way.
I learned a lot about the cycle of coffee production from planting the beans to harvesting the first cherries three years later
This was a great day trip. Due to the fact that travel through the city has lots of traffic the car ride was long but the tour itself and the guide, Luis, and the driver were amazing.
The whole experience is really nice, we learned aq lot about coffee and the process. The guide knows what is she doing and you can tell she knows everything about the subject. Was a lot of fun too. Loved it. Thank you Gaviota :D
Wonderful day trip to coffee country! My kids and I learned so much about coffee growing and production, and the final product was delicious. The tour was very informative and engaging, and our guide was very attentive and friendly. The drive into the mountains was long (2.5 hours) but was also very enjoyable with the most incredible views! I highly recommend this tour!
Leslie was an excellent and interactive guide. She will make sure you get a holistic experience of your trip. We also had the chance to visit the fruit market of fussasuga which added extra fun to our itinary.
Our tour guide, Nataly was amazing. She talked to us about Colombian culture, played tongue twisters with us and taught us a few sayings on the 2 hour car ride to the coffee farm. Once there, even though she handed the actual tour over to an expert at the farm, she fully engaged and participated as we did (e.g. picking coffee beans). She was very attentive and would answer any questions and often asked if we needed anything during the ride. We loved her!
We had a wonderful time at the farm and Camilo was wonderful. The lady that toured us was extremely knowledgeable. The coffee tasted great. The espresso was good and their liquor is amazing.
It was ok. I expected more because the description made it seem like the coffee farm was massive & vast.
The tour was very informative and we got to see every step of the coffee making process. The tour guide was very knowledgeable about coffee and the local plants. Quite a bit of mosquitoes though so don't skimp on the bug repellent.
This was the best tour we did in so long. We had a best tour person Nataly from Gran Columbia Tours and she made sure we get best of the best. Also our driver Carlos was great driver and he makes sure we have save a pleasant ride.
Great tour, I learned a lot about coffee. The traffic was pretty bad to get there - but the farm was super cute. Liliana the host was incredible - super smiley and knowledgeable.
A fantastic day at a beautiful Colombian hacienda. It is is definitely not just for coffee lovers! The great coffee, and coffee liquor is just extra. 🤩 We had an amazing tourguide Diego, who led us to the coffee farm, who is just absolutely amazing. We felt safe, taken care of, and well informed through out the whole day. Diego really did everything to make us feel comfortable and meet all our needs, including to provide vegan food for the group. ❤️🙏🏽 At the hacienda we learnt so much about coffee, what was genuinely interesting, and the tasting at the end of the day was really the icing of the cake. ☕️👌🏽
This was an awesome tour. We learned a whole lot and enjoyed the time at the coffee farm a lot. We couldn't do the lunch that day but would book with lunch next time.
The trip was so nice: 1) The drive to and from offered a chance to see the countryside and small towns, 2) the tour of the coffee farm was interactive , educational, and fun, 3) and our overall true guide and driver were phenomenal!! Highly recommend!
Was amazing Coffee was amazing as well People are very friendly and nice A lot of the workers spoke English They are very welcoming and knowledgeable about coffee Was a wonderful experience
The tour was fantastic, our guide was so informative and was able to answer all our questions. It was really nice walking through the coffee plants picking and learning about the process. The gardens are stunning with some beautiful flowers.
The hacienda is a very green, beautiful, quiet place. Besides the coffee plants there are also exotic flowers and fruit trees. Our guide Miguel did a wonderful job in assisting us and catering to our needs such as bringing us to a vegetarian restaurant for lunch. The other guide Jessica gave extensive information about the coffee making process, from planting the seeds to the final roasting process. We had an excellent time and enjoyed it very much.
Learning about coffee preparation from harvesting to roasting is quite an experience. Liliana from Hacienda Coloma is very informative and Camilo from Gran Colombia Tours is exceptional.
Visiting a coffee farm is a must do when going to Colombia. That was what we did last week on our trip to Bogota. This was a great choice for us to get a glimpse of the country's coffee culture and history. The tour was very well structured and pace was very comfortable for people who want to use Bogota as a base for short day tours. Gran Colombia Tours did a great job arranging this and our tour guide Francisco was very knowledgeable and passionate. We absolutely enjoyed the tour!
I learned so much about coffee that I didn't know. The farm is beautiful. Our guide Leslie was great. I highly recommend her! Drive was long but ride was comfortable
The hotel arranged the excursion for me. As a dedicated coffee drinker, I wanted to get out and see where it all happens. What a great experience. Because I was the only English speaker at that time, they provided me with a private guide. That was a treat. I learned so much about coffee. Enough to make me want to get a book to read about the history. My guide, Jessica, was very knowledgeable and put up with my many questions and pictures. There are so many glorious plants along with the coffee shrubs. Really delightful and important trip.
Such a great tour. The farm in itself is very interesting, the staff are very knowledgeable, kind and professional. Jessica was our tour guide in the farm and we went with Sergio who was our guide from Bogota. We laughed a lot and learned a lot, got to pick beans and learn about the entire process. The farm had some chickens and rabbits too, and it was very beautiful to learn the history of coffee in Colombia. Would definitely recommend this to anyone visiting Bogota.
We didnt get of to the best start on this trip - Noone made contact to confirm what time I was being collected as is usual on all the other trips I have done. I was left not really knowing if I was going tobe collected or not. I contacted Viator the night before and they could not get them either. They advised that as the official start of the trip was 8am, I should be waiting at 7.45. So at 7.45 I sat outside my hotel door. By 815 I had not seen anyone, I contacted Viator who contacted the tour compnay. They said that they had been waiting for me at my hotel since 8. It turned out eventually that the guide was standing right near me and he had arrived at 8. They told me that my hotel reception had been trying my room but with no answer, which is obvious when I was waiting outside. They had my contact details so could have easily watsapped me. And failing that, the trip was for a single female, and there was a single female with a backpack sitting outside the hotel....but noone came to ask if that was me. Despite this start the day was very enjoyable, it IS a very long drive thought, 3 hours, maybe more each way - there is major roadworks going on along the journey and in the town where the plantation is. The plantation was interesting, we then went to a local market to get fruit, and we had dinner before returning. The guide was really interesting and nice. Recommended but I really feel the tour company needs to communicate better.
This was a lot of fun. The car ride from Bogota is long (3 hours), but I enjoyed seeing the different neighborhoods of Bogita and the Colombian countryside that I would not have experienced, otherwise. Also, Nataly my guide, will keep you engaged in conversation during the ride, if you like; her English is very good. We talked for probably the first hour, but I'm rather introverted and she picked up on that and just let me enjoy the ride. The tour at Hacienda Coloma was interesting and educational. I enjoy learning new things and it delivered. It is not a large scale coffee plantation; you will have to travel much further from Bogota if you want that, but they teach you the process and history of coffee in Colombia. Of course they have products for
It was an enjoyable day. Our Gran Colombia guide, Luis, was excellent as was the guide at the coffee farm. We learned a lot about local flora, in addition to coffee production. Learning how to select and actually pick beans was interesting!
Tour was good, but it was not a working coffee farm. Traffic was terrible and it was a 4 hour round trip, for a 2 hour tour
Luis was an excellent guide who was very knowledgeable of this tour plus other "must see" things for us to do while in the Bogota area. In addition, Jessica at Hacienda Coloma was excellent as she took us through the entire process of planting the coffee plants to drinking our coffee.
We had Cristian as our tour guide and he was amazing and helpful throughout our trip. He went above and beyond to make sure our trip was great. He also provided wonderful local cuisine recommendations and general tips/advice. Would definitely recommend booking this tour. The coffee farm was quaint and beautiful and we learned a ton about the process of making coffee - from planting the seed of the plant to roasting the beans and drinking the coffee.
Our tour guides Christian & Jessica were great. We had so much fun & learned a lot. They went above and beyond to make sure we enjoyed ourselves. Christian took us to a delicious restaurant & took good photos of us!
I enjoyed the coffee plantation. My guide Jorge was a real trooper. I had signed up for the Spanish only tour, but they used some technical agricultural terms I didn't understand, and he helped me out. I bought some coffee candies as souvenirs and they were a big hit at home. It was a fun trip.
We had a brilliant time with Cristian at Hacienda La Coloma. We learnt so much about Colombia from Cristians great knowledge. He also gave us a little tour of Fusagasugá and took us to a great local spot for lunch! We would 100% recommend.
Highly recommended who loves coffee. Gio was very kind and friendly. He explained me everything detailed.
Cristian was an amazing guide and shared great knowledge about so many things. We had a really fun time.
A very pleasant experience getting to know the details of the production of one of Colombia's emblematic export products: coffee. The hacienda La Coloma is a very nice place to visit where we can relax a bit from the hustle and bustle of the city learning many interesting and curious things related to the production of coffee. The guides are very nice and knowledgeable. All in all a worthwhile experience.
We had an outstanding experience with Gran Colombia tours when we took the Coffee Plantation tour on 12/31/2021. Everything ran very smoothly, the driver and guide picked us up promptly at our hotel and despite horrendous Bogota traffic, we had a great experience on the tour. Luis, our guide, was incredibly knowledgeable and friendly and we would highly recommend him for this tour. The tour itself at the Coloma coffee plantation was a great look at the process of growing coffee in Colombia, but note that this farm only produces coffee liquor and rum, they do not produce coffee for drinking. That said, it is still a great place to visit and worth the trip for any coffee fan.
This was our absolute favorite tour we experienced from the city. Hacienda Coloma was absolutely beautiful and their coffee/coffee liquor is not only exclusive but delicious! The tour of the farm was very informative and showed the steps of the full coffee making process. The tour was followed by an optional lunch at a wonderful local place in Fusa that exceeded our expectations and gave us the opportunity to try some great Colombian cuisine. Our tour guide Andrés made the experience that much more delightful! Not only did he translate in English for me but he also gave insight to other aspects of the region, it’s history, and Colombian culture. It felt like we were meeting with an old friend! Loved it! Highly recommend
