Amazing guide who told very interesting stories along the way. Very knowledgeable. When booking we knew we had a Spanish speaking guide and he was able to communicate very well. Catedral de Sal was awesome … would definitely recommend a visit with this company and Christian as your guide

Cristian is an excellent guide. He is very knowledgeable on Zipaquira and la cathedral of Salt. I will recommend this tour.
The pickup was smooth, with details communicated via WhatsApp ahead of time and the night before with guide name and license plate which I appreciated. Also liked that there was hotel pickup offered. The guide talked about areas of the city through a translator app, so we got information in English. The salt cathedral itself was very unique, but foreigners have to buy a 125K COP ticket ahead of time. You get an audio guide at the entrance but there were no headphones so it was difficult to juggle the audio guide to your ear while trying to take pictures while trying to hold a bag in low-lighting. They also send you in a larger group that is a Spanish tour so it was a bit frustrating to have the Spanish guide talking and everyone’s audio guides playing, plus yours playing too. It felt a bit rushed to try to keep up with the Spanish leader, but eventually our smaller group fell back to take our own time and lost the bigger group altogether. So don’t feel the need to stay with the Spanish guide. Your own guide from this tour (ours was Cristian) will stay with you and make sure you are together. He was very nice. We took a quick city driving tour around the main plazas. Afterwards we were taken to a souvenir shop, decent prices but would have preferred more time to walk around and shop myself. They offered free tea and coffee. Then we had an hour at the restaurant but most of the group ventured off to find their own restaurants. I brought my own food for dietary restrictions. The couple on the tour that did eat at the restaurant said it was good and a good amount of food. What I didn’t care for was this was the only tour company that was trying to upsell a bit. It wasn’t too high-pressure, but I got several texts to add on options for tickets or lunch, to do other city tours with them offering discounts, etc. I just said no thank you each time, but it was the only company that I experienced this with.
Cristian was a great guide! He picked me up promptly at my hotel. We visited the salt cathedral and on the way back made a lunch and souvenir stop.
Had a good time on our tour. The guide spoke in Spanish but used a translation app to guide us along the way.
Great experience seeing the salt cathedral. Our guide was knowledgeable and kept us informed. Our lunch was included and was also delicious
Our guide Jefferson was great and very professional. Be prepared for a long trip. Our group was 12 people, but once we arrived to lake they put us with other groups and a local guide. Ernesto was also very professional and knowledgeable, but with such a big group at times it was difficult to hear information ( he used a hand speakerphone) and it also took longer to take pics. There was a photographer at the top of lake and would amazing pics for aprox $5 , we were lucky and had pics taken ( but long line and not everyone was able to). The walk is not too bad, but I did see older people struggling. We were told you could return in the first 20-20 min. We bought some really good food/ snacks once we complete walk. Lunch at the restaurant went was not the best, but staff was nice. The cathedral salt was amazing, plenty of shop inside. Make time to see the light show and 3d movie. If you plan on taking the train make sure you are in line early. We went on a Sunday and waited 30 min. The train only fits 28 people and are every 15 min on weekends, last one we took was 6:45pm. It was ok, if you don’t get on you just walk back ( aprox 7 min we were told). Overall it was a great experience with beautiful views.
Salt Cathedral surpassed my expectations. V diligent tour company.
There is a kind of chemical air in the tunnels, which made it difficult for me to breathe, so I left my group earlier for fresher air. I had a congested nose for about two weeks. The history of that mine seems that lots of people were sick of consuming the salt, which affected their thyroids. I don’t recommend it to anyone visiting the Salt Mine. It’s bad for health.
The salt cathedral at Zipaquira is definitely worth a visit ... but not with Viator's partner for this trip - Nomadas Colombia Travel. Picked up on time. However the last couple to be picked up were late - 25 mins late, while the rest of us sat on the minibus fuming. After 10 mins, the driver should have left. At Zipaquira, instead of taking us direct to the ticket office at the site entrance we were taken to a souvenir shop in town. We purchased our tickets there but hung around for 30 mins in the hope that we would purchase souvenirs. The salt cathedral was amazing. However no time was given for meeting back at the drop off point. I arrived there and ended up waiting 90 minutes before the last of the group reappeared. We were driven back to the souvenir shop which had an adjoining restaurant, where we had a good lunch - some had pre-paid. However no time was set for meeting back at the minibus. Four of returned to the minibus for the return trip to Bogota. 30 mins later we found two of the group buying souvenirs in the shop. A further 30 minutes later we found the remaining two people taking coffee in an adjacent cafe. Needless to say we hit the rush hour traffic on our return to Bogota and arrived 2.5 hours later than anticipated. Great place to visit - just not with this company.
The cathedral itself is breathtaking and I do recommend visiting if you have plenty days in bogota. However the tour itself is extremely frustrating. I planned to visit the gold museum after the tour. On the website, the tour was mentioned as approximately 8 hours. To be cautious, I asked the agent when is the estimated time to back into bogota and I got the answer at 4PM. I was pick up around 9:20AM. The tour guide Alex is a friendly and nice guide. However he doesn’t seem to have a plan of timing. The flow of the tour was extremely slow. We were brought to a shop/ restaurant before and after cathedral. I was told to visit the shop before the cathedral was to get time to purchase ticket for some tourists, which might be true. However, after lunch, Some tourists in the group spent lots of time shopping while others were forgot and waiting in the van. We, in the end, departed 4:30PM to drive back to bogota. And obviously we met the traffic. And obviously I missed the chance to visit gold museum. Today is my last day in bogota, so I can’t go to the museum the other day. If I can be told that this is a full day tour instead of half day, or at least be honest about the return time, I might change my plan accordingly.
I would recommend this trip to everyone i know. My sister told me about this trip experience with Viator and she was right about it. Me and my husband were on Bogotá last week and we took the trip to Cathedral de la Sal with Viator, they picked us at the hotel we were staying, got the tickets for us, explained us everything so clear, we had this wonderful experience and it was all thanks to this trip, i would definitely be booking again for our trip on next year.
It was nice. Guide was friendly and very helpful with our member who needed special assistance.
Our guide was very nice. Very punctual and very helpful. We had a good time
Cristhiam Tour Guide Salt Catheral
Cristhiam Tour Guide He was knowledgeable, very helpful, and professional. Despite not knowing a lot of English we were able to communicate well because he was using an online translator.
Going to the salt catheteral and touring the city of bogota with Cristhiam Tour Guide Salt Catheral was a fabulous experience! So attentive caring as well as knowledgeable about the different parts facts about the areas we visited. He was also so friendly answered all our questions and very sweet opening the doors ensuring we were alright and he’s also funny made us laugh a lot! Definitely book with him for a great adventure!!!
He was an exceptional tour guide please book with him so patient and kind especially as an English Speaking person
We wanna recognize Christiam from Nomadas Colombia Travel with a five star service. We booked this great experience to Cathedral de Sal on Zipaquirá, and with his charisma, kindness and knowledge we were able to discover all the details about the City, and not just the tour itself. Pickup from our hotel on time, he showed us everything around and answered all our doubts. Super ultra recommended!
We had the most experienced and effective tourist guide that made our trip memorable and pleasant. Thank John for an amazing trip. You made our day!
Visiting Colombia's Salt Cathedral is like stepping into a hidden world beneath the mountains, where history, engineering, art, and spirituality come together in an unforgettable experience.
Great driver, your was wonderful and pickup and communication was absolutely punctual, from both Julián (messenger) and driver (Brandon). Will definitely recommend to anyone else and will go with this company again in the future. ❤️ I had an amazing time at the Salt Cathedral and seeing Zipaquira, plus food was amazing.
We had a great day with Alexander. We don't speak Spanish but it wasn't an issue. He spent all day with us, showed us around, and took us to a yummy place for lunch. Highly recommend!
Despite speaking no Spanish, our guide was very kind and accommodating.
This is a MUST DO if you have time please don’t miss it and ask for Christian as your guide, good communication and the pick up flawless.
Alexander was great and very helpful throughout the tour. He was patient and kept us on schedule.
We had an amazing experience on this tour. It was worth the money. Cristian was a wonderful tour guide and translated well for us in English
A fantastic experience! I highly recommend for anyone visiting Bogata. Christhiam did a fantastic job as the tour guide!
This was a great experience, we loved our driver, got to explore the town a bit as well and the food tasted great.
Our host Cristian was funny, knowledgable and made the trip a very pleasant time. The experience was top.
Fantastic experience. Very friendly and knowledgeable. Recommended!
Great experience. Cristian, our guide, was very nice. Places are a must see if you are around Bogota
Better off just getting a cab there and back then you can explore at your leisure. Being part of the group didnt add anything except time constraints. The minibus was super uncomfortable i didnt even know they made vehicles with so little legroom. If you do go dont let them sell you the lunch its crap. Much better to take the free time to explore the town and grab some better food.
You hVe to go to experience this wonder. The artwork, the story, the peace. Such a worthwhile experience and the area of zipaquira is so nice...a bit different from the busyness of Bogota. Ensure you also see the 4dx movie. The lunch spot is a vibe.
Tour guide is nice and organized But this tour takes you to expensive restaurants and sells you admission tickets , all is to try to make money from you salt cathedral is not a must go destination in Colombia in my opinion. If you want to go you can order a uber , find a restaurant in zipaquira to eat and you will save money.
Although we don't speak Spanish, our driver was friendly and patient. We got by with translation apps. The Cathedral tour was a bit confusing with the audio, but was still pretty good. Communication with Nomadas Colombia Travel was fantastic.
It was one of my best experiences learning about the salt mines and Jesus Christ and the Catholic Church
Great day tour of zipaquira salt mine and cathedral. Cristian was very knowledgeable and friendly. Highly recommended guide
Christiam was an excellent guide. We learned so much about such a beautiful place. Great experience!
Christian was excellent. He was on time to pick us up. The van was comfortable. He was knowledgeable. He led the tour with professionalism. Highly recommend him!
Christiam our guide was excellent! Highly recommended tour.
We'd give it five stars just for the transportation and the experience. Our guide spoke almost zero English though. Fortunately some bilingual folks were on the trip and translated for the non Spanish speakers.
Alex is so kind and the tour was fast and very interesting. The price of the tickets are a little expensive.
Was a great experience to see the Cathedral Mines as well as the surrounding areas. Alexander was our guide and he made sure we all had a wonderful experience including non Spanish speaking guests.
This experience was amazing. Our driver and guide Alexander was really nice, friendly.
Great experience and pick up..
Even though Alex doesn't speak english, he was an excellent tour guide. There is an audio tour guide for the cathedral that lets you select your language. The Salt Cathedral is a unique experience with three main parts: 1. The stations of the cross; 2. The main cathedral (where a Catholic mass was actually going on) - this is the best and most interesting part; 3. A shopping and dining area-yes, it's like an underground shopping mall. The traditional lunch at a local restaurant was delicious, the staff were very friendly and some speak english, and the live music entertainment was fun. The only downside: driving out of and back into Bogota. The traffic is always horrible. The van is not the most comfortable to ride in on bumpy roads and stop and go traffic. But the scenery is nice. And we had great company in our fellow tour members. PRO TIP: wear layers-it's warmer underground than you might think but sometimes you hit well ventilated areas and the temperature drops a few degrees.
Christian was an excellent guide for the day. Gave us very informative bits of information while on the way to the Salt Cathedral and while we were there.(
The driver/tour guide was very very nice and even though he only spoke Spanish, he tried his very best to assist all customers. Only giving this a 4 stars because the cathedral itself was really really boring. It’s just LED light shining on some stone crosses. Nothing spectacular let alone costing 1250 mil pesos
I am from Guyana, the only English speaking country in South America. Cristhiam is a great guide, very patient and accommodating he made every effort to ensure that i was included amongst a group of Spanish speaking tourist, He ensure that I got my physical copies of my photos taken, he shared his knowledge of his country which shows that he is informative. I would definitely recommend.
