Very customizable. Montserrate is still very beautiful even when it’s cloudy. The walking part was my favorite.

Great way to experience Bogota during my long layover. Easily connected with my guide and driver at the airport and determined the itinerary based on my interests. Saw many sites and points of interests that gave me a chance to really see the various aspects of Bogota during my limited stay. My guide Raul was very knowledgeable and informative about the history and neighborhoods of Bogota. Having a separate driver with a roomy, clean, and modern car was so helpful for us to maximize my excursion time. Great experience all around!
Our plans changed at the last minute due to a flight cancellation, which left us with quite a long layover in Bogotá. We decided to make the most of the extra time and book this tour and we’re so glad we did! Raul was a fantastic guide and did an amazing job of showing us as much of Bogotá as our time allowed. Everything was really well organised, including private transport to and from the airport, which made the whole experience incredibly easy and stress-free. We loved walking around the city, exploring the different neighbourhoods, learning about the local culture and stopping along the way to try some delicious Colombian food. It turned what could have been a frustrating day stuck at the airport into a suprising exploring day of a city we never thought we would get to explore. We would highly recommend this tour to anyone with a layover in Bogotá and especially recommend Raul as your guide!
Bogotá, Colombia, is a rich, fascinating, and great city. There is much to see in a compact area! We started with a tram ride to the top of Monserrate (over 10,000 feet) and finished with museum tours in the center of the old town. My guide, GIGIO, was very friendly and knowledgeable. He was able to show many cultural sites and connect them with Colombia's history, both past and present. The entire experience left me with the desire to revisit Bogota and vacation in South America. Well worth the cost, and it was stress-free. Well done Viator and GIGIO
I had an excellent 4-hour layover tour in Bogotá and couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Andrea, my tour guide, was incredibly friendly, professional, and very knowledgeable about the city’s history, culture, and local life. She made great use of the limited time I had, ensuring the tour was well-paced, informative, and enjoyable from start to finish. It was the perfect way to experience Bogotá during a layover, and I felt well taken care of the entire time. I would absolutely recommend this tour to anyone with a layover who wants a meaningful introduction to Bogotá.
I had such a great time on my Layover Tour with Raul. He is interesting, knowledgeable, a great conversationalist, and speaks English fluently. He chose the perfect spot for a sit down coffee, and he was quick to pick up on the things that I found more interesting and emphasized those things more. A wealth of information and enjoyable company. Highly recommend!
Plane was delayed by 1hr and guide left airport. No refund was received and we wasted $95 per person getting through Columbia immigration. Never book with these clowns.
Raul was a great guide. We saw and learned a lot about Bogota in 5 hours - logistics of picking up and dropping off at airport worked great.
I had a great time in Bogotá. Raul was a great and very kind guide. I got to see the historic center and it’s definitely worth to see. The museum of gold was very interesting and Raul explained a lot of the pieces, how they were made and what they meant for the indigenous people. Unfortunately because the immigration took a long while, we had a bit less time, so if you book the tour you should expect at least one hour from your landing time until you can meet your guide. All in all it was a great way of seeing a bit of Bogotá and so much better than just killing time at the airport. Thank you very much, I loved the city, will be coming back :)
Friendly and well organized layover tour, can definitely recommend! Martha (guide, she speaks perfect English) and Carolina (driver) made me feel very safe during my short stay in Bogota - I didn’t think I would see so much of the city :) we also stopped for snacks and coffee. Also the communication before the tour was quick and easy via WhatsApp.
I had a truly wonderful experience exploring Bogotá with Raul. Despite a very tight schedule between my morning arrival and evening departure, Raul made sure the tour was both efficient and unhurried. Thanks to his careful pacing and thoughtful planning, we managed to cover a lot in a short amount of time — from breathtaking views atop Monserrate to a walk through the historic center, all while enjoying insightful conversation and an authentic local breakfast. What stood out most was Raul’s depth of knowledge — not just about the city’s history and landmarks, but also its culture, architecture, and natural surroundings. He clearly loves Bogotá and shares that enthusiasm in a way that feels personal and engaging, not scripted. Our conversations flowed naturally, and I appreciated his ability to tailor the experience to the moment rather than sticking rigidly to a preset plan. I left the tour with a much deeper appreciation for the city and a strong desire to return and explore more. This was 100% worth it — highly recommended for anyone looking for an insightful and well-paced introduction to Bogotá.
Julio was the perfect tour guide! This was perfect for the 11 hr layover I had and gave me a sense of extra safety travelling solo in Colombia. I was able to store my backpack safely in the vehicle while we visited the various stops which provided maximum comfort. We visited the Montserrate, Oro Museum, and the Historical Centre and ended the tour with a snack at one of the markets.
We had 6 hours to spare and decided to get a tour of Bogota. Gigi’o met us promptly and we began with a drive to Monserrate and a funicular to the top with amazing views of the city. Next we spent time walking through the old town learning about the history and culture. Gigio was excellent, knowledgeable and fun! We also got to try some great coffee and pastries as well as delicious fruit smoothies. Just the right pace that we needed! He made us want to make a separate trip to Colombia in the future. Highly recommended!
Everything went well. He was excellent. We had only 4 hours but we now feel like we want to go back one day
Well, organised and perfect way to “kill” waiting time at the airport ! They are really flexible and willing to change all at the last minute.
The 6 of us had a 11 hour layover in Bogota so scheduled layover tour with Impulse. It was excellent. Impulse was very organized during the entire process and quickly responded to answering all of my questions. We were picked up from the airport, the tour was excellent, they were flexible to center it around our desires, and we were returned to the airport with plenty of time to catch our next flight. I highly recommend our tour guide (though I forget his name, was it Raul?) and also recommend Impulse.
We went safely in Bogita and amazingly with beautiful views! We went to the museum, the plaza de bolivar and the mountain to view the whole city
a very nice tour in Bogota with a fantastic guide. Definitely worth it during a long layover. Thanks to our great guide Gigio. the guide adjusts to us eg there is no stress of missing the plane
Tour was excellent. Our tour guide Gigio Arango-Pérez was the best. He was on time and covered all the tours on time. Excellent services!!
The tour was amazing!!! Gigio - our tour guy was absolutely stunning! On time, well organized, educated, high passion of Colombian and world history , telling lots of stories and history . Before coming we were skeptical about coming to Columbia, even wanting to cancel but since we had a long layover we decided to go ahead and do the tour. After this tour, we were so depressed that we couldn’t stay even longer in this beautiful country, very nice people, tasty food and incredible prices. Gigio and driver were so Incredible at rerouting our tour due to an event that was occurring, that had many streets closed. Definitely will return and continue to discover Columbia: more of Bogota, Medellin, Cartagena!!! Thank you Gigio and driver - sorry did not catch your name. We were very happy to have your tour and very unhappy to leave Bogota! Highly recommended.
Very knowledgeable and kind. Made us feel welcome. We had a great day. He even saw us off the the security gate!
Guide right on time. Very knowledgeable. Throughly enjoy Six hour tour. Hit all the places we wanted to go. Driver was exceptional.
Our tour guide Martha and driver Jeider were excellent. Even though we had only 4 hours, we were able to see the popular sights of Bogotá and the art in the city. They also had a deep knowledge of the city. We learned a lot about Bogotá and Colombia.
Martha and Andres did a great job!!! Their prompt service and knowledgeable insights paired with the suggested itinerary for the time that we had was top notch! Would use them again!
Raoul was the most knowledgeable guide I have ever had. His English is very good. He was very personable and showed me the most important parts of Bogota in 4 hours before my plane back to the US
All experience with raul was very nice seeing bogota. We enjoyed this 4 hour tour and would like to come back one day.
John was a great guide and accommodated our needs, a huge shout out to him for making our layover tour in Bogota very successful.
Our tour guide Raúl made the tour perfectly arranged and personalized at the same time. I am very impressed by how productive this tour is and how much can be done in a 6-hour layover. We visited many places in a well arranged walking tour of the historical area. Raúl showed us the highlights at the museums (including Gold Museum, Botero Museum, and more) and enriched the exhibitions with the history of Colombia. We also drove around and see different sections of the city, where Raúl had engaging conversations on the different street views we see. Raúl also made the tour flexible and well prepared by having plan A and B and Cs in hand. When having extra time at the end, Raúl even accommodated our requests to see additional places. He absolutely knew the best places for food and drinks that we wanted to try: took us to juices of new fruits in a market, the best empanadas in a local flea market, and a trendy coffee shop in an artistic area. I am also deeply touched by Raúl’s good heart. This is a rare find as a good tour guide can be a great representative of the city for visitors. It was heartfelt when he told us emotionally about past stories of bullfighting, and when he kindly helped people on the street. Thank you Raúl for taking such great care of us from end to end of the trip and for making my experience at Bogota amazing!
Gigio is an incredibly skilled, enthusiastic & knowledgeable guide - he tailored this tour to fit what I wanted (no cable car!), was flexible when I needed a bite to eat, and made sure I had everything I needed upon return to the airport. I am so glad I booked this tour. Thank you Gigio!
Because we were flying to Armenia (Coffee region) in the afternoon, we booked a half-day Bogota tour with Impulse Travel, and were fortunate to be assigned to Gigio as our guide. At 8:30 am, he was waiting for us with a driver in a very comfortable van outside the Marriott. Upon pick up, we hit the ground running and have nothing but great things to say about Gigio and this tour. His English was wonderful and he was so informative! He was strategic about the order of our visits to ensure we got the most out of every minute, especially given the Easter holiday. He introduced us to Bogota and walked us through the Calendaria area. He treated us to different fruits and chocolate at the market. We enjoyed coffee in the middle of the tour while we listened to a street performer. Gigio’s energy and love for his country was contagious, and we wish we could have taken him with us throughout the rest of our trip!! He gets our highest recommendation!
Exellent experience. Pick-up and drop-of worked very smooth. Fantastic guide who was very flexible to all our requests.
We had a wonderful time on our tour in Bogota! My only regret is not being able to stay longer. From the scenic mountain tops, live music, art, food, and coffee, Bogota is truly an incredible experience. Our guide, Gigio was absolutely the best part! His enthusiasm, knowledge and love for the city truly shined and encouraged us to want to come back. I highly recommend this tour, especially using Gigio as your guide.
From the ease of pre-communication to the pick up and drop off, this tour was unbeatable. In a short amount of time, I was able to experience the essence of the Colombian people through walks around the Candelaria area, a Mountain View and a museum visit . Interesting stories were told about history and modern times. I experienced food, culture, history, politics and art . I also was able to glimpse the city from the top and try some traditional tea, take lots of awe-inspiring photos and breathe in fresh air at the top of mountain Monserratt with the local people. Bogotà really caught my attention through this marvellous layover tour and I will be back to experience more of this jewel of South America! The coffee was ‘delicioso’ and a focal point in Colombia of course. The guide was friendly and personable. She was generous with her knowledge and tailored topics to my interest. The driver was also excellent which is an important point, because in my travels I’ve noted standards can vary considerably . A not to be missed tour. if you have some time before your next flight . Please, do yourself a favour and book it! You will not regret it. .
Mauricio was a wondeful guide. He introduced us to Pandebono at the El Dorado cafe. We learnt a lot at the gold museum and enjoyed the views of Bogota from Monserrate.
Our guide, Gigio, was fantastic. He provided us a good overview of the history of Bogota/Colombia and was very informative throughout, answering all our questions. + Pick up at airport was smoothly coordinated via Whatsapp + Car was comfortable with great driving by the driver + Visited Monserrate and city center + Was brought to Juan Valdez for great coffee - One thing that could be improved was to check the closing time of Botero Museum. It was a public holiday and the museum closed earlier than expected, so we missed it, which was a pity as we really wanted to go
Raul is the absolute best guide I have ever had the pleasure to be taken around. So knowledgeable and amazing. We had a 4 hour layover tour and saw everything in Bogota. Everything was perfectly arranged and amazing communication. Highly recommend
I am so glad I booked this tour! I had a long layover in Bogota and did not want to stay at the airport all day. First, the folks at Impulse Travel are super nice and really on top of communication. Once I landed, my guide Gildardo (goes by Gigio) texted me letting me know he was there. The meet-up was easy, we went outside, met our driver and off we went! Gigio is amazing and has such deep knowledge of the area. We started at Monserrate and took the cable car to the top. Gigio made sure I had a great spot to see the views as we went up. The views from the top are breathtaking! From there we headed over to the Gold Museum. Gigio was such an excellent guide and I got so much more out of it than if I had been walking around reading the placards. From there, we headed over to explore the bright murals and art of La Candelaria. He took me to a food market that has been there since he was a child and I got to try/buy some amazing small-batch chocolate. We finished by walking around the cultural center and I got to try Pandebono, a Colombian cheese bread. It was delicious! Then it was time to head back to the airport. Gigio walked me inside and pointed out where I needed to go. Overall - It was a fantastic day and Gigio, with his knowledge and friendly personality, made it a day I will not forget! (Also, our driver was great!)
The great knowledge of our tour guide Gigio and his passion to deliver a Fantastic experience. He was able to keep our full attention all the time.
Our guide Alejandro personalized our tour to what we wanted to do. Loved the fruit and coffee tastings and he made a nice dinner reservation for us.
Martha was incredible! I highly recommend spending your layover time maximizing the beauty of Columbia! Just a fantastic way to learn more about Columbia, the culture and people. It pays to upgrade if you ride the funicular to save time! Highly recommend doing that! Saves so much time so you can do more.
We met with our guide at the airport and meeting spot was easy to find and Giraldo identified himself and was really friendly and knowledgeable. Will definitely recommend.
My husband and I had a 9 hour layover in Bogota and booked a 4 hour tour to see a bit of the city. I booked the tour based on reviews of others on Trip Advisor. Our guide was Felipe and he met us at the Oma coffee kiosk outside of the baggage claim/customs exit at El Dorado airport. He was precisely on time. A very friendly young man (young to us - as we are old), he walked us out to the drive in front of the airport where we met our driver (whose name I have sadly forgotten). So - first nice surprise: the tour includes a guide AND a separate driver. This was so helpful as our driver was able to drop us off exactly where we needed to be and then, when we were done at that location, pick us up very easily. We would not have been able to park anywhere and walk. So this was much appreciated logistics! We left El Dorado airport at about 7:05, just in time to hit rush hour traffic, so it did take us about 30 minutes to get from the airport to our first stop - Montserrat. That was ok, though, because it was still early enough (and a weekday) that there was no one in line for the funicular. (On our way down, the line was starting to get long!). A couple of things to note about Montserrat that I hadn't thought about: if you are old and out of shape, even though the funicular (or cable car) takes you to the top of the mountain, there is still a fair way that you have to continue walking up hill to reach the church and the air is pretty thin at roughly 11,000 ft. We felt it. Felipe told us that he was "one of those guys" who we saw running up the mountain. He very kindly walked extremely slowly for us on our tour. (I told him that I imagined him going home that day and telling all of his friends about the out of shape old folks he escorted.) Another thing - very much of the "pavement" on top of the mountain is “slippery-when-wet stone” and there is a dearth of handrails. Don't wear slippery-soled shoes! The bathroom at the top of the mountain costs 1,000 pesos (about 25 cents). Good facility, but remember to grab the TP before you get into a stall – it’s on the wall across from the sinks (in the ladies’, anyway)! The view from the top of Montserrate is phenomenal. It was worth the exercise to make it up there! Gives you a good perspective of the city and the geographical area. Felipe showed us various details we would have missed otherwise and knew well the history of the place. He also bought us some coca tea and gave us some history of the coca plant (other than that which we already knew). Back down the mountain, our driver picked us up and took us to La Candeleria area where we walked around for another 30 minutes or so. Felipe took us to an old market place (which wasn’t quite open yet at the hour we were there – still interesting), showed us the oldest street in Bogota, heading for Plaza de Bolivar. This walk was pretty flat with lots of interesting things to see. We went into a museum briefly (Botero Museum). Felipe seemed to know the security folks at the door. Had we been young and spry and had more time to spend on this tour, we would have seen more of this museum. But we aren’t young and spry and the time it took us to limp around Montserrate cut into the rest of our trip. That’s ok. We skipped a couple more planned stops because we were beat up by the altitude and our age (we are 62 and 72, generally healthy, but don’t exercise and we live at sea level). We ended at the Plaza de Bolivar where my husband wanted to try a beverage that a vendor was selling. I would probably never have tried this if my husband hadn’t because I shy away from street vendors in foreign countries (and know I am missing a lot). Anyway, the man was making and selling a hot fruit juice steeped with lemon grass. After declining my own cup, but tasting a sip of my husband’s, I bought one for myself (also bought a cup for Felipe). It was really good! Very different. And I think it cost about 50 cents. Had we spent more time in Bogota, I would go and buy it again. We told Felipe that we had walked as much as we could and had to pass on touring the Presidential Palace and anything else he had. He kindly had our driver pick us up very close by and they took us back to the airport. When we got to the airport, Felipe also left the car (and the driver went on to where ever), escorted us into the airport and walked us to exactly the place where we needed to go so we didn’t have to read any signs and guess. THAT was really appreciated! If Felipe showed up in our home town and wanted to visit, we would love to host him, he was that nice of a person. Professionally, he was excellent. He knows his city, knows lots of facts that tourists like us like to ask about and could not have been more friendly accommodating of our slow pace. This tour was worth every penny charged and then some. We would never have seen these sites in Bogota on our own in such a short layover, not in a million years. When planning this tour, I was very worried that, somehow, we would miss our connection – worried because I am a worrier. If we had tried to do this on our own, I would have made a cab driver turn around and go back to the airport after 15 minutes in traffic. Again – this tour was worth every penny – and worth the tips given to both Felipe and driver. Thank you!
Having a long stop-over in Bogota, we chose the In Transit Tour 4-hours to have the possibility to see at least a part of Bogota. Jaime from Impulse Travel met us at the airport with a car, and brought us through Bogota and up to Monserrat. Fantastic views! Afterwards we were take to the historic old town, and wandered around there very well taken care of by Jaime. We also visited a cafe where we had a very good coffee and something to eat. Had the opportunity to visit the Botero Museum. Then back to the airport in due time. A lot of thanks to our great guide Jaime!
We are very pleased with the tour. Jaime, the guide, was very good and took us around Bogota. Firstly Montserrat, with a fantastic view over Bogota, then walking around the narrow streets of the old town with colourful houses. Finally we had an excellent coffee break and looking quickly into Botero museum. Everything was excellent taken care of by Jaime. Recommended
What a great tour!! I had several hours to do nothing while connecting through Bogota and decided to book this tour. What a great decision. Our guide, Gildardo, was great!! Very informative and used both Spanish and English to ensure we understood everything. Showed us some great sites and gave us a lot of history of Bogota!! All in all a great afternoon spent exploring such an incredible city. Gildardo did a great job selling the city so I will be back for an official stay in the city to explore.
Experience fit for kings, guide was friendly and knowledgeable and everything was extremely smooth and well organised.
John was an incredible tour guide, and this experience was a perfect way to make the most of a long layover in Bogota. It was an absolutely individualized tour, and I'm still having a hard time believing how inexpensive it was considering John's expertise and the fact that we had a private driver to take us to our locations. Booking this tour meant that I didn't have to worry about transportation, language barriers, tourist traps, or any of the multitude of things that could keep me from getting back to the airport in time. Because it was a private tour, John was able to tailor it to my interests and made sure that I got to see as much as possible during my time on the tour. We had tea in La Candelaria and toured the barrio, taking in as much architecture, history, and culture as we could along the way. It was clear that John, as a resident of La Candeleria, had both extensive knowledge of and a genuine love for the neighborhood. There is no way I could have learned so much by wandering around on my own. We also visited the Gold Museum, which was well worth the stop. Pickup was easy. It took about an hour to clear customs, and John was waiting for me as soon as I got through. Returning to the airport was also a breeze. The driver got us back in plenty of time for me to relax a bit before the next leg of my journey. If you find yourself with a long layover in Bogota, this is a perfect way to spend the time. If my travels ever bring me through El Dorado again, I will try to schedule a long enough layover to do a second tour to see some of the sights we didn't get to the first time around.
I was in Colombia travelling alone. I do not speak Spanish and wanted to get to know the city and talks to locals. My guide told me a lot about the city and was able to answer all of my questions. We went to the Gold Museum, Garment Museum, La Candelaria, and Montserrate. It was wonderful.
Excellent tour!!! We were able to see so much of Bogota in a short amount of time. Martha was excellent.
The tour guide John Wilson was amazing. Super knowledgeable and kind. I had a great time learning about Colombia & Bogota. The food was amazing, the coffee was the best I’ve ever had and the people were great.
