I had a private tour with Gigio on my first day in Bogotá. What a great food tour and introduction into the city! The food was amazing!!! While walking through many fantastic and interesting neighborhoods, I learned all kinds of history about both the city of Bogotá and the country of Columbia. He spent the time to explain the different regions of Columbia and what to expect depending on the kind of tourist getaway that we would want in the future (ex: jungle eco lodge, beach resort, animal safari, or archaeological ruins). I’m definitely coming back to this wonderful & diverse country! Thank you, Gigio.

Itinerary
To begin, you’ll meet with your guide at Origen Bistro Restaurant before moving on to “La Perseverancia” food market, a place created by the working-class people at the beginning of the XX century.
There you’ll feel the typical atmosphere of a traditional Colombian food market as you talk to traditional cooks and locals, and try delicious fruits.
You’ll then walk all over La Macarena neighborhood, which was Bogotá’s bohemian area in the mid-XXth century. Nowadays, this area has been transformed into a recognizable zone of international restaurants and art galleries.
Afterward, you’ll walk along the 7th street to enjoy the “Septimazo”, a very diverse path where you'll find street artists, singers, food karts and handicrafts, and will also identify some of the iconic buildings of the area. You’ll stop at the traditional “La Florida Bakery”, to taste delicious pastries and a hot beverage like Aguapanela or hot santafereño chocolate with cheese. Heading southeast, you’ll appreciate downtown’s transformation with the new cultural, commercial and residential students buildings in contrast to colonial and republican constructions, before tasting an artisanal ice-cream made out of Amazonic exotic fruits.
Next, you’ll walk through La Candelaria historic district to enjoy a savory meal at a colonial restored house, where you can taste and see recipes from different regions of the country. At last, you’ll visit an indigenous store, where you’ll have the chance to taste some coca leaf products and have a chat with an indigenous woman from the Embera’s group. She’ll explain to you why Coca is not Cocaine and why it is a fundamental part of indigenous nutrition and a sacred plant. You’ll also get to know more about how they’ve struggled to preserve indigenous culture, economy, and traditions as they’ve faced conflicts with narcos, industry and the government.

Raul was very kind. This was a great tour and gave us a good glimpse into Colombian food. The food and restaurants visited were very authentic and we would’ve never found them without a tour.
Our guide was interesting but the tour was not at all what was in the description: we didn’t go to the market or see much of the candelaria, or went to the « colonial restored place » or the « indigenous store ». Everything seemed very improvised: closed places, guide discovering the menu at the same time as us. There was enough food but instead of being many stop for small bites as is typically the case for food tours, the portions a bit stodgy (large, fried, made of rice…) so after 4 hours and 4 stops we were full but not impressed.
Raul is knowledgeable and naturally friendly. The food stops were excellent regional examples and fun to taste and experience. The afternoon was well paced. We are very glad we signed up.
My guide was Raul, he was incredible. You always know if you had a good tour that when the tour is over, you are friends with the guide. I can confirm, he's a good friend now. The restaurants you visit are very authentic and the stories along the way are wonderful.
This tour was more than just food- it was a deep dive into Colombian culture and history, in a fun and approachable way. Our guide, Raul, was so knowledgeable, funny, and interesting. He took us to spots we would not have tried on our own and showed us so many more spots to try during the rest of our trip. I loved the Colombian hot chocolate (with cheese and delicious bread!), the Perseverancia market, and traditional empanadas at a popular lunch spot. Raul made the experienced personalized to our needs and showed us a few more hidden gems that weren’t on the tour. I would take this tour ten times over!
Amel is the man, super knowledgeable on the culture and history of bogota, even the worlds history to be honest. Are Spanish wasn’t the best, but don’t worry he made us feel like family and explained everything clear as day his English was superb. He took the time to ask what we wanted out of the day and made everything happen beginning to end it was definitely a trip to flavor town make sure you try the fruits and everything else he offers. Thank you Amel
Sandra was a wonderful tour guide. She ensured we tried all of the most typical dishes/snacks throughout our tour and was friendly and inviting. She was thorough and stayed with us beyond the scheduled time to make sure we were able to experience every bit of the tour (we had experience an unavoidable delay at one of our stops). We ate everything in sight! Thank you for the tour Sandra!
Gabriela was our guide for this tour, and she was amazing! It is so much more than just La Perseverancia, which was what motivated us to sign up for this tour in the first place. We also got to try hot chocolate with cheese at Pasteleria Florida, jugo de cana from a street vendor, a variety of cakes and teas and soups and appetizers and beers. We were so full by the end of the tour that we couldn’t eat the rest of the day! In the process we got explore so much more of La Candelaria than we would have on our own, and Gabriela knew all the history and highlights. We got so much out more out of this tour than we expected, and I definitely recommend it!
The guide Andres is very knowledgeable. We not only visit places with typical colombian food, he also tells stories and history about the city. The breakfast stop in the market and the ice cream stop were highlights.
We don’t usually go for the guided tours, but we were extremely happy and pleased with this one. Our guide Andres not only brought us to some delicious cool places (we would have never found on our own) but also told us endless interesting stories and facts on Bogotá. He was relaxed, down to earth and very straightforward. We were lucky to be the only ones on the tour so it felt like hanging out with a new friend. Highly recommended!
Bogota Gastronomic Walking Tour is a fantastic experience and it truely transports you to very different (but all tasty) places and experiences. We started with a food market that served Colombian food from all different regions of the country, tasted some exotic fruits; had a cup of hot chocolate with cheese (the weird part) and tasted organic icecream (amazing variety) just before stoping in a really nice and trendy restaurant that had a menu inspired from traditional Colombian food - but of course they had their modern twist. And of course there was time for a cup of great coffee as well. Skip your breakfast before giong to this tour! On your way you'll see some fantastic architecture and hear great stories about Bogota and Colombia.
Fun day trip.... had some exotic fruits at the Central market, then some amazing Empanadas, then off to a unique hot chocolate and cheese dish that is a favorite of Colombians.... all done in unique downtown areas of Bogota....
Loved getting to see more of Bogota and try the different culinary specialties from the country. My guide was incredibly knowledgeable and professional!
A lot of food, informative and relaxed . We had Alejandro and he was great ....saw parts of bogota I wouldn’t have seen otherwise
Our wonderful guide Emilio provided us with the perfect introduction to Bogota's marvelous culinary delights. He showed us many parts of the city where we tried many types of food - sweet and savory - which we will never forget. He also gave us a great overview of the city geographically and historically and gave us excellent suggestions for other activities during our stay. We cannot encourage you enough to spend a day with Emilio!
Natalia was an excellent guide. The fruit market excellent choice for tasting the fruits. Also good the visit to a traditional coffee shop and Florida panaderia. I reccomend.
My guide (Juan) was very friendly and informative, he seemed to know most of the people that we encountered. I learned so much about the many fruits, vegetables and local delicacies, as well as filling my belly with good foods and drinks!
We really enjoyed our half day food tour. We booked the tour on a Monday afternoon which we discovered was not a good time to see the market because the big market is closed, so it was a shame we were not informed this by the company beforehand. However this was the only time we could do and our guide Jorge was fantastic and basically customised a tour for our group of 3, visiting the market to try new fruits and catfish, then for ponchos and churros then to the bakery for the hot chocolate, cheese and tamales, and then to Bolivar Square for aromatica. Jorge was an entertaining guide and had great local knowledge including other tips for our trip. Although the tour was not quite what we expected, in the end we had a great arvo, and left very full!

Had a great experience visiting one of Bogota's main markets. We tasted and sampled foods, fresh fruits and juices that are totally foreign our Canadian palate. Met interesting and knowledgeable vendors who were only too willing to spend time with us despite also having to accommodate real customers. Our private tour also included a fantastic lunch tamale and hot chocolate and cheese a Bogota treat. Best to choose the morning tour in order to visit the market when it is in full swing and all stalls are open.

I'm not sure if this is the same tour company since when I booked it it said it was provided by "Colombia Travel Services E.U." offered via Viator but now it says it's offered through "Impulse Travel"? It's confusing. Anyway, I booked this tour through trip advisor as it was my first visit to Bogota. We were paired with Emilio who was awesome. My experience was nothing like the low-rated reviews on here that talk about indifferent guides who didn't take them to all the places. Emilio took us all around the farmer's market, flower market and to a couple of stops within to sample fruits, a couple of local fruit juice concoctions, empanadas, etc. He was really awesome. I mentioned I really wanted some good Colombian coffee and I wanted to bring a kilo of unroasted beans home for a friend of mine if we could find some - he knew just the spot! It wasn't part of the tour but we made a brief stop at this awesome local cafe + roastery and they had the beans I wanted (as well as great coffee). Emilio took us to the bakery, explained which things were traditional versus regular bakery items and everything he helped us order was excellent. From there we walked around La Candelaria and because we had already booked a city tour for the afternoon he tailored our walking tour around the areas that we'd already see later so we wouldn't be repeating anything. Overall, he was great. Oh, and if you have the option, go on the food tour in the morning. The markets are far more active and the flower market shuts down around 10 so if you want to see the amazing displays of fresh flowers deff take the morning tour.

Unfortunately this tour fell extremely short on anything of a food tour. Our tour guide was very nice and had a great personality but didn't take us to all the things on the description. We were picked up promptly at our hotel and went to the Market. He encouraged us to pick out fruit to try. He did not make any recommendations nor did we try anything else than about 3-4 fruits split between 5 people. There was nothing else at the market like described in the info. We then headed down to the Bakery where again recommendations were not made. He just let us order whatever. Which honestly I could do this on my own without a tour guide then. I was expecting some input and history to be explained on items. We decided to get the queso and chocolate not because of the suggestion but actually from a previous tour guide telling us its a must try in Colombia. After that we literately had NO MORE FOOD. We just walked around the city. So to our disappointment we barely tried anything! We left feeling like we didn't even have a tour at all. I did not learn anything about true Colombian food or even tasted it. There was no street food, no empanadas, no arpeas. It was lacking pretty much everything a food tour should be focused on, that is its food. However we thought our guide was nice and maybe misinformed on what was expected. and even after reaching out personally before this review the companies customer service is poor and had little acknowledgement that our tour was so poor. I would not recommend this tour. Try a different company because there is plenty of good food in Bogota.

Got to try so many good things! Unfortunately many of the vendors were closed by the time we got there, but the market is huge and it was still really worth it! If I went again I would do the morning time.

We kind of wandered around the market that we could have done on our own. I've been on other similar tours and they were fantastic. This one was so-so. The guide was friendly, though somewhat quiet and reserved. He did speak english, which was important. We tasted some fruits and juices in the market. We then went to a coffee shop/bakery where we had coffee, hot chocolate and some food products. Following that, we went to Candelario and had some great Chicha from fresh corn. Thanks for finding this gem. The rest of the candelario tour was ok. This wasn't a bad tour, but it definitely could have been better.

Delightful exposure to new, tasteful fruits, meats and drinks! Friendly vendors who go the extra mile to please the customer. The rice and pork dish served from the cavity of a hog was incredibly good.

300 characters is not enough to give a detailed review, so here goes. Fantastic tour, Luis Saurez (tour guide) was multilingual and simply amazing. The tour guide exceeded our expectations. We left with a lifelong friend in Luis.

This was a wonderful tour and I had a grand time!! With my guide Juan Frederick and driver Jonathan, I went to the Plaza de Paloquemao to visit the market. I saw so many new and interesting fruits, vegetables, and other food. I also saw many different kinds of potatoes in all shapes and colors, each with its own I sampled many different new fruits, coffee and breads, and a special pork and rice dish at Lechoneria. We also stopped to visit a few churches on the way to the restaurant where we had a traditional chicken soup for lunch. Everything was delicious! Juan was very knowledgeable about Bogota and the foods he is a chef and a tour guide in his spare time. I highly recommend this tour.

This was so cool! Ate things I've never heard of! Saw some foods I've never seen and the largest produce market ever lol. The guide was very knowledgeable and i felt very safe. Would highly recommend this tour if your an adventurous foodie! I was alone on this tour could have been more fun with more people but it was nice to have all the attention and go at my pace.

Excellent in everyway. Jaime was our tour guide and he was very friendly and welcoming.

I found very interesting the cultural and social approach they give in the places we visit on the Heart tour, I felt that each place we visit gives priority to independent resources of entrepreneurship that emphasize Colombian culture and communities, I felt them varied, being able to try Colombia in Bogotá is an opening of all the indigenous flavors in other formats example the ice cream place I found fantastic!
We went to the Paloquemão fair. Delicious surprise for taste and eyes. The different and tasty fruits. Fresh vegetables and vegetables. Colds, meats and flowers. How much variety, color and perfume in one place. True that in some sectors the aroma was not so good. But the sensations of experiencing arepas, ollies.
