I had an absolute blast and I give a Big thanks to my tour guide Diego. He made sure I felt Safe the entire tour and kept checking that I am confortable. He met me on time and was very friendly. He is very knowlegable of the history of Bogota and Guatalupe and Monserrate. This was my first tour with Gran Colombia Tours and the whole process was very smooth. Def recommend ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The tour guide, Angel, is completely fluent in English, was a super nice guy, and stayed with you the entire day (pick-up/drop-off and ride). The horse facility is surprisingly only 40 minutes from downtown Bogota. Jesus, the horse guide, was also very nice and friendly. The property is massive and set high in the mountains where you have tremendous views of the area from above.
Hello, so we did the horseback riding tour yesterday and it was beautiful. However, the description said a snack was included and that was false. We went to the first stop and went to get on the horses and I was still expecting food, but none ever came so by the time we got to the end of the horseback ride I was dying. So we had to stop and get food at one of the food stands at the top of the mountain. Other than that it was amazing. But I don’t think you guys should advertise that you offer food if you don’t because that is kind of a key issue especially for a six hour excursion. If no snack was going to be given to us, he should’ve said some thing, and then I would’ve bought some food at our first stop from one of the vendors.
Excellent trip that definitely tested me. My girls had a great time and are ready to go again! The trip guide was knowledgeable and patient with us. I would recommend this trip to other horse enthusiasts.
We did not get to do the horse-riding trip because there was a landslide. We were fortunate to change it for another trip which the tour company was willing to do and was also given a refund. Jose the tour guide was very friendly and accommodative. Hats off to Viator.
The horseback ride was a great was to reach the top of Monserrate. Can be a littke nerve racking on some of the steep areas but my horse showed great skill. My guide and translator - Naty - was fantastic. Super nice and friendly.
Amazing experience on the most sure-footed of horses. Great views over the countryside. We passed farms and rode through forest. We also met the mule train that supplies the restaurants behind Monserrate. Luis was a friendly, knowledgeable guide.
The guide Camila was 100% fluent in English and had very deep knowledge of Colombia's history and environment. My horse was a brave lady and got us through the most difficult, rocky paths 💪 I confirm what others have written: this is not for beginners at horseriding. But experienced riders should jump on the opportunity.
I loved this excursion. The day began with short visit to the church at Guadalupe. From there we took a short drive and grabbed a light breakfast by the side of the road where we met the horses. The ride started out along country roads through farmland. About 1/3 of the way, the ride shifted to an exhilarating trail ride. We finished at Monserrate on a perfect Sunday with the parties in full swing (Domingo is a big day at Monserrate). It was all a blast. Our guides Diego and Francisco were very nice, and importantly, attentive. I have ridden on trails for my entire life and felt engaged the whole time. My friend had only ridden a couple of times ever and had an awesome time. This is no pony ride. The trails are steep, rocky and wet. The horses are sure footed and confident. The views are incredible throughout.
Very informative guide. Great experience. The house back ride was great but I don't think it would be for the inexperienced rider
We had an early morning trip despite having arrived on a late plane flight only four hours earlier (not by choice). The guide group was excellent in communicating with us beforehand and answering questions. Our guide accommodated our need for breakfast that morning and delayed the trip by 30 minutes. We had a treat at the top of the mountain as well before descending on our horses. Jorge Castiblancos was our guide and he had a vast amount of knowledge and was very professional as our guide. We very much enjoyed talking with him. He oriented us to the region and skillfully described the different regions and the vast biodiversity found in Columbia. Javier knows his animals and the two of them helped us to feel very comfortable and safe the entire trip. This was a great way to start off our Columbian adventure and it was especially fun for my wife for whom this was her first time in a Latin American country. If you’re considering this trip I would advise you to think about three things. First the altitude. If you’re not used to the altitude you can have symptoms of altitude sickness. Luckily we didn’t have a problem and the horses did most of the exercise but you may consider waiting a couple days before going to higher altitude. Also make sure to use sunscreen and wear a hat and appropriate clothing. Also think about the animals. It’s likely that your shoes and pants can get muddy. This is also not a trip for first timers on a horse. Some of the inclines and declines are a little bit intense and sometimes the horses need some guiding to stay in order. I never felt like my life was in danger. And lastly the climate or weather. The forecast always reported a rain but each day the report changed. Generally speaking the mornings are more sunny.
Recommended for anybody looking for a unique experience filled with amazing sights and adrenaline!!! Luis our guide was amazing and made sure to take care of any of our needs from the moment he picked us up until the end of the trip. I have been to Bogota plenty of times and have been on several tours, but this one I will never forget!
The conversation with the tour guy, very friendly and attentive. The day wasn’t a bright day but still ended very good
I was a bit apprehensive of this tour until we met our tour guide, Luis Vásquez. My husband, my daughter and I don’t have much horseback riding experience, but by the end of the tour, we were pros. Luis took his time with us. He allowed us to get used to riding the horses. Show us the beauty of Andes valleys. Explained to us the plants and fauna along the way. The tour began from Guadalupe. I had some issues with the altitude. Luis was very kind, waited for me as I got used to the altitude. We began the horseback riding from la parada de mona with some empanadas and steaming hot sugar cane tea. The sky cleared up when we started to ride the horses. What a beautiful sight! The most exhilarating part was going down the hill. Be prepared to trust your horse lead you through the rugged terrain. Be prepared to dirty your cloth and waterproof boots. We were a mess by the time we arrived at Montserrate. Luis gave us a detailed tour of Montserrate. If you are looking for cultural and exhilarating experience, I highly recommend this tour. Pls ask luis as your guide. His English is very good and his friendliness and kindness made this tour memorable and safe.
A part of Bogota every tourist misses. Recommended. Very attentive guide. Knows alot and is funny as well, very important! 5 star experience 😄
This was a super fun experience. From the moment of booking, Luis, the guide, was super excited. Guadalupe Hill and Monserrate on their own are really beautiful sites with great views of the city, but to ride on horseback through the andes between them is a unique and wonderful experience. I'd only ridden a horse at very slow speeds and that's the pace a kept for the first half of the trip. But the make or break moment is when you head down through the rocky slopes. At first blush, I was not ready for it. You have the option of walking if you're not totally comfortable, but I just headed Luis's advice, trusted the horse, and, by the end of it, I felt like i riding was second hand. I totally recommend this over getting ported around by car.
Seeing Guadalupe and learning the history was a great start since it wasn’t as commonly discussed as Monserrate. Once we got on the horses the real fun began. This was the most exciting, scary, beautiful, adventurous, funny and THRILLING horse back ride I have ever done. Being from Texas, I am pretty familiar with horses but this was not your typical easy, slow horseback ride through the park. We had some rain so there was mud, steep inclines and declines that force you to trust your horse, our amazing guide Luis, and the vaquero. Words cannot describe how unique this trip through the Andes is. It was THE BEST trip I’ve ever been on. Our guide Luis was the icing on the cake, he was very knowledgeable, had a good sense of humor and was very tentative to our questions and concerns (and my nervousness). He taught us so much history about Colombia, Bogota and all the sites we visited as well as provided recommendations to sites we hadn’t yet visited. We had such an amazing time with Luis. All in all, if you’re an adventure chaser/adrenaline junkie, you MUST go on this tour, it’s definitely underrated and I can’t recommend it enough!! Will be back again!!!
My best friend and I were traveling to Bogota together and wanted to visit Monserrate. We found this activity online and decided to go for it. It was worth the hype and an amazing experience. Jose was a wonderful tour guide - from picking us up at our hotel, to taking us to Guadalupe, to riding with us to Monserrate, going down the cable car and taking us back to the hotel. He answered our questions checked in with us throughout the trip. I would recommend having some horseback riding experience. The first half was very calm and relaxing. The second half felt like we could have been in an Indiana Jones movie as the horses had to go down a really rocky mountain with us on them. Ultimately, It was a great experience and we would both do it again in a heart beat!
A unique way to visit Monserrate. Marcela was amazing! There are some rocky hills where it gets a tad scary. Only snag was the cable car was broken so there was only one way down (you only ride the horses to Monserrate). It took hours. Overall - great experience.
David was the best guide during our tour. Not only taking the house tour of the “underground trail” we we’re able to see other vantage points over Bogota. John, who managed the horses on the tour was also extremely courteous to everyone and made the ride very relaxing and fun! David was extremely professional and friendly, easily explaining many unique things about Columbia’s culture and history. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Bogota. This was WAY better than going on any of the regular tourist beat locations. Even more, David went the extra mile to provide recommendations and support for the rest of our stay in Bogota; from restaurants to markets to visit we had such a blast. 6/5 stars if possible!
I have been riding horses since I was three years old in Kentucky. I have taken other horseback riding tours in Iceland, Costa Rica, Grand Canyon, Arizona desert, etc. But, the adventure and excitement of this tour was better than all the others put together. We went from the top of one mountain at Guadalupe and down and back up another mountain to Monserrate. We rode through forests, steep dry down-hill river beds, and through farms and pastures. It was just a non-stop adventure that I have never in my life experienced or ever thought that I would have.-I would like to add that Marcela Tamayo, our guide from Gran Colombia Tours was awesome too. We did this trip in September 2018 and later we actually had a Christmas day chat with her via WhatsApp. She is so nice and fun. We feel like we have known her for years.Take this trip and you will never forget it. Be prepared to put John Wayne to shame. It is not a Pony ride like at the zoo.David and Nelson
Before we came to Bogota we did a lot of research on horseback riding tours nearby Bogota. We also wanted to see Monserrate so this tour checked two boxes. We got picked up at hotel and taken to a local place in the mountains for breakfast. Julian was a great tour guide and gave a great history of Columbia, Gaudalupe and Monserrate. The horses were well behaved and easy to ride. The tour itself was amazing we travelled through the forest on dirt path trails and rocky trails. We took breaks for pictures with amazing views of Guadelupe, Monserrate, and Bogota and the surrounding mountains. This was the best horseback riding tour I've ever taken (something we like do to on vacations). I would highly recommend anyone wanting to see Monserrate and get an adventure in at the same time to book this tour!
Jorge was very attentive and friendly during the walk, knowledgeable about the surroundings and the stories behind both places. An experience that is too worthwhile. Highly recommended!
Excellent Service, my vacation by cartagena was satisfactory for me and my family, too pleased with this page and highly recommended.
El guía, el conductor, el sr de los caballos muy profesionales y divertidos. En cuanto a la experiencia vivir una travesía agreste atrás de una gran ciudad como Bogotá. Formidable.!!
Although we were skeptical at first, as the tour seemed very expensive (we were only 2 participants, my sister and I though) it was really worth it! Everything worked perfectly, despite the fact that we didn't even book 24h before. We would be contacted directly by Gran Columbia Tours as well as the tour guide. Our tour guide Luis showed up at the hostel at 8am as agreed and gave us a little briefing. Shortly afterwards we were picked up directly at the hostel and driven to Guadalupe. From there we went to a snack, where we had a little refreshment and shortly afterwards the horses and owner arrived. The ride led through breathtaking landscapes past some vantage points to Monserrate. For inexperienced riders, the terrain may be a bit demanding, as there are some muddy and stony sections of track with a not-to-be-missed gradient along the way. However, the horses are very experienced and sure-footed and you can rely on them without a doubt. For more experienced riders there are even a few gallop tracks in between. The ride ended on Montserrate. As a crowning achievement, the tour of the church was followed by the cable car ride back down to the valley. Luis was by our side throughout the tour and provided us with interesting information not only about the flora and fauna of Colombia but also with many historical and structural facts about Bogotà. We hit it off with him right away and the communication itself was no problem (although we don't speak a word Spanish), as Luis speaks excellent English. You couldn't ask for a better tour guide! Depending on the weather conditions, however, the tour can get quite muddy and so can the clothes. Therefore, do not dance in a Sunday outfit and possibly arm yourself with rainproof clothing (but we also received this information in advance from Luis)! All in all, the tour was definitely worth its money (and the more people participate, the cheaper it gets)! Absolutely recommended if you have fun riding - and some experience in it - and also a great way to see much of Bogotà when time is tight.
Although I had to make the short term booking (1.5 days before departure), with experience of a person who travels a lot it worked well. What I lack on the Tripadvisor page is the ability to put the hotel details to the booking form so that you also receive automatic confirmation of the hotel transport. The Enterprise offering the ride could not be reached by phone, which is the only option Tripadvisor offers. Not during the day or at night. By searching the Enterprise email address (independent of Tripadvisor) and sending an email to confirm the transport, everything worked out fine, thanks again to the Columbians. The ride was very good, we are 3 hours on horses, which are very well educated and easy to ride, also by people without experience. Guadeloupe could not be reached by car, because of constructions of the race. But we walk, which you can recommend, is easier to acclimatize with height. As a summary: A highly motivated guide, sometimes it would be better when you speak little less to enjoy the tranquility in nature (for my opinion). Excellent horses, very easy to ride. An interesting route, with easy parts and also with more challenging parts. Friendly and professional people, in the Enterprise office, driver, cowboy and guide. Very good views of Bogota from the two mountains. Thank you all.
