We booked, received confirmation, paid for transport to meeting point, arrived at the meeting point, then waited for 30 minutes and no one showed up. The meet time was 7:30 pm, at 9:10pm I received an email that the tour was cancelled due to weather. There was no bad weather, rough seas, or reason for them to blame weather. We were able to take a different transport to the plankton area because again, seas were calm, no rain in sight, it was dark, and the plankton were plentiful. This company was unprofessional and very inconsiderate of our time. I was told they often cancel if there aren’t enough booked but notice of cancellation an hour and a half after the departure time is next level bad business. If zero stars were an option that’s what I’d give. They did initiate a refund for the trip they didn’t show up for so I guess the one star can be for that proactive measure 😳

Itinerary
Bioluminescence is a chemical process through which marine vertebrates and invertebrates, fungi, and fireflies produce and generate light. This relatively rare worldwide phenomenon occurs in the Caribbean waters of Bocas del Toro, where it illuminates the ocean, the waves, and the shoreline with a blue glow at night. The light or glow is created by marine plankton - scientifically known as dinoflagellate - which activates a blue glow when it senses movement in the water. Join us on our fun Bioluminescence Tour and let our expert guides take you to the best spots around Bocas del Toro where you can witness this amazing phenomenon in a safe environment.

Fantastic experience. You will definitely see a ton of bioluminescence and it’s so cool to swim amongst it.
This tour was fantastic! I travelled with my 17 year old and 13 year old, and we all loved learning and interacting with the bioluminescent plankton. The guide and captain were professional, knowledgeable and courteous. I highly recommend this tour and this company.
Magical night time snorkeling in the bioluminescent waters. Knowledgeable and fun multilingual guides.
I was scared at the thought of taking a boat out into the ocean in the pitch black, but you must! These microorganisms/Plankton light up the ocean like stars. It's not deep water, you can see the bottom and it's warm. Great experience.
Only worth it if you swim / snorkel when given the chance. There were 12 people in our group. They dropped us off at klika on the way back
The virtual communication was excellent which I HIGHLY appreciate. The tour guides were good. It was windy and felt questionable the safety; I got so drenched including my towel just getting out there (tell ppl to bag them!). But most of all not 1 person - including 1 w a go-pro (!) - could capture anything but blackness on their devices (photo or video). I loved getting to see the plankton in real life (and was fine not to get in the water), but w/ no "evidence", it was like it didn't happen. Please advise your guests either a) what device to bring, b) what technique to use, or c) that they likely won't have a photo like the one you somehow have to advertise. Lastly, as we went back, they nicely dropped off 1 group, but making another party late to their water taxi - they should check with the group before they make everyone later than planned. If these improvements were made, I'd love to go again and/or recommend to a friend.
This was one of the most amazing wildlife experiences we've had. It was fascinating swimming through these magical creatures. Highly recommend.
Tour guides were very informative and fun, the crowd was lively and friendly, and the tour itself was such a unique and beautiful time.
There's something a bit wild about speedboating across the ocean at night and jumping into dark waters, but it was very cool to see the water sparkle and light up around you as you do so. Our night was cut a bit short due to rain, but it was still a magical experience.
This is amazing!! Beautiful and romantic. The captain gives plenty of time so you can enjoy fully the experience. Doing the snorkeling is a must.
It was such a beautiful experience, driving past the bioluminescent Plankton in the boat was beautiful and the guide explained the different types of plankton and under what conditions they glow. Snorkelling in the water was a bit scary at first due to it being completely dark but after you dive down, you dont want to get out of the water. Under the Surface there are so much more planktons than you can see from the boat and it was actually like swimming in the night sky. If youre thinking about doing this tour, do it. There arent many places where you can do this. However note that you likely wont be able to take pictures of it, due to the planktons not shining bright enough for most phone cameras to catch it. It looks incredible in person tho
The tour guides both did a great job. Explained how to activate the different kinds of light. Need a really good camera to catch the lights though. I really encourage everyone to jump into the water to play with the luminescence.
The tour itself was wonderful! I’d suggest booking directly with the company rather than through Viator as viator charges DOUBLE the price!!!
You really can't imagine what this is like until you see it. It's like swimming in the night sky. Do not miss your chance to have this opportunity. I want to give a special thank you to our guide, Amir. He was warm, knowledgeable, and spoke in both English and Spanish so we could all get the most out of learning about the bioluminescence of Bocas del Toro. I appreciate all that he did for us.
Getting onto a boat in the dark with my 8 and 9 year old had me second-guessing my judgment, but it was worth the risk. This tour was our second with Amir who speaks fluent English and Spanish. Having done the island hopping tour with him, I knew that he was a good guide and was more comfortable bopping around in the dark. He taught us about the different types of biolumenescent plankton and stimulus that makes them illuminate. Everyone on the boat was awed. Swimming with the plankton was a once in a lifetime experience and fun to enjoy with a group of people as excited about it as we were. Being anchored in the dark with several other groups with plankton illuminating and the stars in the sky is not something you will forget. Be aware that the pictures don't do the tour justice. If this tour is on your list for Bocas, make sure that you book your trip when the moon is not bright. The tour is not operated when the moon is bright because the plankton are not as visible.
What a great evening to our first day in Bocos. Amir was our guide and he was friendly, funny and answered all our questions. The Bioluminescence was a pleasant surprise and we enjoyed jumping in the water for a snorkel. Highly recommended.
We had the best time. It felt like you were swimming in stars! Our tour guide was great he spoke English and Spanish.
This is a once in a lifetime experience, and you must go! The tour guides Amir and Shadow were excellent with explaining the types of plankton, and making us feel comfortable!
Meetup point was away from the tourist area, dark, dingy, no lighting at the dock (safety issue). The guide/captain did not greet us and did not speak English. He (guide) also made an inappropriate sexual comment to my wife.
Experience that seems like science fiction: there are algae that light up when you touch them, others, with the movement of the water, and others, when you focus light on them. Diving in a dark sea, with all the points of light from the algae, is a unique and unforgettable experience... Notice to future travelers: this experience is only held 2 weeks a month, since the algae do not appear in moonlight - check the lunar phase beforehand. Thanks also to the guides who explained it wonderfully!
The experience is cool magic though we stayed 20 min I am disappointed while it was 2h no return from viator or the provider who blocked us
