Itinerary
Hello, traveller! Your Questo adventure begins here in Birmingham, starting from Birmingham Town Hall! Situated in Victoria Square, this place is not just a regular town hall, but one that embraces art in all its forms : jazz, folk, rock, pop or dance. During the break of a meeting with the council administration, you can sure feast your eyes and ears on a performance. But this friendly, cultural hub hides some dark secrets! Are you up for it? Check your surroundings to find the clue and advance.
Congratulations! Let’s celebrate your progress at the Council House on Victoria Square, home of Birmingham’s grand Banqueting Suite. After all the walking, a little banquet with food and dancing may be just the right thing. We heard it is a VIP party, only Questo explorers allowed. Hold on, before going further you need to find the code, and we will raise a glass of champagne at the end of the game!
Are you hearing the sound of paddles splashing water? The buzz of people enjoying their afternoon? Then, you most likely reached the Gas Street Basin of central Birmingham. This is a canal where you can cruise down, seeing the gems of the city while contemplating your quite thoughts. It illustrates a rich and colourful scenery of how life would have been during the industrial days. Nevertheless, while you are contemplating, search around you to find the clue that is missing. Perhaps, it sunk down the canal or maybe it’s right in front of you.
Well, well! You reached the middle of your quest. Being the showcase of Birmingham’s retail therapy offerings, Bullring is one of the UK’s most visited shopping centres located in the very heart of the city. Even though you will not see real life bulls in here, it is still an exciting place, especially when the discounts period is around the corner! So, don’t waste your time and answer the question to advance!
Connected to the Bullring via a link bridge, the Grand Central is another eye-candy shopping center. Check your immediate surroundings to solve the challenge and we will treat to some shopping therapy after the game is over!
ICC Mall is the next destination - an enjoyable place that runs through the International Convention Centre. This venue is well known for its performances: here you can enjoy all sorts of events, from conferences to concerts. Once here, you will get indications on how to continue your game, while also learning about the story of the place you have just discovered.
Something tells you received an important mail, but it is not on Gmail or Yahoo, but in The Mailbox - a high-class shopping and office development in the heart of Birmingham. This site was the location of the Royal Mail's main sorting office building for Birmingham, hence its current name. Nowadays, they don’t sort envelopes anymore, but rather an exquisite edit of brands. And that’s not all, here you can find the main office of BBC Birmingham, as well as accommodation on one of the wo world-class hotels: the ‘oasis of luxury’ at Malmaison and the AC Hotel. Look around you and see what mysteries Questo has in store for you!
You are now headed to the Hall of Memory - a war memorial in Centenary Square, Birmingham that commemorates the citizens that lost their lives during the tragic events of WW1. The interior features three carved bas-relief plaques, each having a symbolic significance: the Call - the departure to war, the Front Line - the fighting and the Return - the arrival home of the wounded. Birmingham was a city that was very much impacted by the World Wars and Birmingham Blitz has earned its place in history. Even though you are not among the ruins right now, dig up the mystery and find out more about this place!
Birmingham has many public squares, and Victoria Square is arguably its most famous one. And what any other way to finish the city exploration game than in a fastous way? Named after Queen Victoria, this central area of the city houses the grand Council House, the city’s town hall and welcomes one of the biggest Christmas markets in the world to its streets each winter. This iconic place has a vast history, evolved ingeniously during the centuries, so you can enjoy the best version of it in the present! Without further ado, solve the last one so you can call yourself a true Questo explorer!

Overall we enjoyed this quest. Most of the clues worked, and it made for an interesting walk around the main sights of Birmingham. We enjoyed discovering some of the hidden facts about the past. On the down side we found it very time consuming to register on the app and unlock the quest. There were a couple of glitches in the app that meant it didn’t recognise a correct answer which wasted time (we reported these). Overall I would recommend. Not suitable for young children as the facts involve murder and suicide.
Very enjoyable quiz to do around the main sights of City Centre Birmingham. Interesting bit of history given at each sight. Easy to do. Would recommend as a fun thing to do for an hour or so.
Had such good fun and saw parts of Birmingham we wouldn’t have seen otherwise. Would recommend! Me and my partner had such a good time
A great experience , i found it very challenging , and have a real good look around before needing a hint , the first couple of clues were hidden by workmens equipment and i did need to look very hard , of course questo couldnt predict this , very enjoyable , a great way to spend a couple of hours and a low cost experince and it was very factual and aa great way to see some of the cities historic buildings
Saw places we would not have seen without the game. Unfortunately we couldn't finish game as got caught up in the high winds and heavy rain of storm darragh
Not impressed with this tour. Started as what felt like a tour of Birmingham car parks; took me up dodgy looking streets; map took me to the wrong places; many clues repetitive and didn’t take me to the top spots. I stopped for some food and it kicked me out and took an age to get back in. Sorry this needs some work
The idea is good, but even though we felt we had the only possible answer first one location it did not work. Another location was off the beaten track, unpleasant, had scaffolding, and the clue did not seem to exist. Password management in the app is clunky, dues not work well. For what it is, it is poor value for money. The App and Birmingham haunted need some work Not worth the money.
Fantastic event spent the day walking and exploring the city. Learnt a lot about the history and stopped at a few bars along the way found interesting places we will be returning too. A brilliant concept easy to follow interactive and enjoyable.
Great evenings entertainment, fun solving the puzzles and seeing a different side of the city, well made app and spot on accurate with directions. Well thought out puzzles that are not too tricky to solve. Recommended
We thoroughly enjoyed this experience. The penultimate chapter was particularly spooky. It took us longer than expected but we had fun
Fun and a great experience around Birmingham, got to see some of the different and interesting parts
Very good night of thr mystery tour ghost hunt, me and the missus enjoyed this and will recommend it to our friends and family for sure. Very straight forward aswell download app ect. 5 star
Good fun and very straightforward as regards completing mystery tour. Recommend it for anyone. Thanks.
The canal walk and walking on water was enjoyable our favourite was the walking round the city and seeing different places
Had a work meeting and rather than just the pub for drinks after I booked this. What a laugh we had. Reenacting the characters (badly) and stopping at pubs as we followed the clues. A great way to see parts of Birmingham you otherwise may not and learn so much in a fun way. Highly recommend
It was very informative and educational. Easy to access and well structured. The challenges were fun and interactive, making the overall experience great.
A fun way to see Birmingham. I would suggest making the tasks more difficult and not the description of what needs to be done. Also audio version would have been great: it's not handy to read the story off the phone.
This experience was a complete waste of our time. No where we went was aware of the tour the town hall was closed. Got too mail box nothing no one knew anything about this tour gave up
Enjoyed the ghost walk, lots of information given . Found that the time passed really quick. Walked around Birmingham at night, but it was quite busy
Six teens walking round a city centre on a pub night, great fun dressed as clowns ... What could go wrong... Nothing, it was brill!!
The first half was really interesting and we enjoyed being guided around to parts of the city we would otherwise not have discovered. My friend and I needed each other to figure out some of the clues, so it's a good team-building exercise. It started raining, so we ducked into a pub about halfway through; it was nice to have that flexibility. After that I found the journey involved a lot of backtracking and didn't really show us much more of Birmingham. I thought it was really curious that the game cost 4.99 per person if you paid in pounds, about 10 if you paid in euros, and a whopping $18 if you paid in American currency, so try to pay in sterling if you can! It was hard to get started. We hadn't realized we'd need to download an app and open an account just to go on one tour, but eventually it worked out. Questo's team responded quickly to our questions.
Bit silly, but good fun, and it made us go to parts of Birmingham we wouldn't have visited otherwise.
Very good and interesting experience! If you want to spend time with friends and take a nice walk through the city, while learning some new things about it, highly recommended.
Really enjoyable experience, loved the clues. Lots of fun. Whole group enjoyed it even six fifteen year old girls.
Trip by the side of the canal and pub stops. Enjoyed the clues. Very enjoyable but took a bit longer than expected
We walked round areas of Birmingham that we didnt know existed, found other interesting places that led us off track, but we also learnt about it's history. It took us longer than 50mins, but that was because we got distracted. It was fun.
I did the Birmingham game today as a solo traveller. Really enjoyed it and certainly visited places that I wouldn't have found myself on a first visit to the city. To be honest, I was blown away by many of the buildings both modern and old and finished with an appreciation for the city centre. The whole itinerary was well thought out and interesting, with the added information bringing each location into perspective. I certainly recommend spending the 60-90 minutes doing the game.... You'll be glad that you did ...
Really enjoyed. Highly recommend to everyone! Great way to explore the city. Should everyone try. Thank you
Really enjoyable way to see the city and learn some history, would recommend this. I Jhabvala done ghost walks before so this was a little different but great to be able to go at my own pace
Really intresting stories. Good idea for date especily with most things closed. Wad really fun. Enjoy all the stories and facts. Gotta keep a look out next time I pass them fir some ghosts 😁
Had great fun following the app around Brum, lived here all my life n still learnt something! Easy to use would recommend.
I did the tour with my boyfriend and it was such a fun way of getting to know Birmingham (it was our first time there)! The suggested time for this activity is 90 minutes, but we don't think that's enough unless you really rush things; we took 120 minutes. Also, because of the coronavirus, the ICC was closed, so we couldn't complete that mission; it's just a letter, so just put a random one until you get it right! We recommend it! 😊
We had a great time completing the quest in Birmingham. The quiz starts at a really convenient place and took us into some truly beautiful spots we never would have visited without! We found the quest just the right amount of difficulty and it reminds me of a live version of the board game betrayal at house on the hill! Would definitely recommend
Great game to explore the city alone or with friends. I have had a fun time walking by the streets of Birmingham
Fun way to explore Birmingham on a budget I've played this city game with my girlfriend and had a lot of fun solving the challenges. We were taken to some of the best places in the city. You should try it too!
Had a great time doing the quest in Birmingham, I went there just for a couple of days to visit and by doing the quest it became very easy to explore and discover the city in a pleasant manner.
El recorrido estaba bien planteado para ver la ciudad de Brimingham, pero la historia se hacía aburrida y pesada.
