My favourite place! Great food, fantastic staff, and with Hawkstone on tap, what more could you ask for? Hollie, the bar manager, really knows how to look after her customers. The customer service is always fantastic, and the whole team makes you feel welcome every time. Highly recommended — don’t let the negative reviews put you off. The accommodation offered is rooms above the pub, and that was fine for us, as we wanted a one night stop-over as part of an extended road-trip, and so didn’t need full Hotel facilities. Check-in was quick & easy. Allocated #1, and it was comfortable and had all the amenities we needed. The bathroom was fine, and the shower was good quality. (This should be 'a given', but it's amazing how many places can't get this right). Off-street Parking wasn’t available for us, but we quickly found a space amongst the locals vehicles, in the road alongside the pub. WI-FI comes included in the price, and a comprehensive continental breakfast was also included. Cooked options can be paid for on request. I’m never a fan of an 10am check-out time! I appreciate that there are House-keeping tasks to complete, but when Check-in isn't until 3pm, do they really need a 5 hour window to turn around a few rooms? We would definitely recommend for a one-night stay, if you’re on a long journey, and passing this area.

Lovely pub with nine double rooms, all good sizes and many with air con, lovely to keep the room cool in the warm summer weather. Fabulous staff, helpful and friendly. Evening meal portions are huge and very tasty, decent value too. Continental breakfast included in the room rate is also decent with fruit, cereal, juices, toast, hot drinks, yoghurt and dairy/non-dairy too.

Stayed for one night to attend a school reunion. I didn't get a chance to eat dinner but the menu looked good. Breakfast was very good but a cooked meal came at additional cost. The room was immaculately clean with a large comfortable bed. A selection of high quality biscuits and hot drinks were provided in the room. I was delighted that air-conditioning was provided which worked well. Considering it's a pub, the room was quiet. In the bar, decent real ales are available. The Star is set in a very pretty village. Staff were friendly and helpful. All in all, thoroughly recommend with nothing not to like!
