Had a lovely overnight stay at this hotel. We had visited friends and was using this as a half way point. Room was nice and clean and the tea tray was in the cupboard. Generous with the tea and coffee facilities. Bed was lovely and comfortable if a little soft. Bathroom lovely, clean & sparkly. Breakfast had a great variety including gluten free cornflakes; musilii and raspberry crossiants.

I have recently used this location to conduct interviews in the reception area. Having used various hotels across the country for their meeting and foyer facilities, I have to say that both the location and the team offer exceptional service. The team at this Holiday Inn are exceptional - I personally experienced, friendly and helpful service, going above and beyond what is normally expected, from both Lily at reception and Tracey in the cafe. Both made both myself and my colleague aswell as our interview candidates feel very welcome. I would thoroughly reccomend this facility to anyone looking for an ideally located venue, for business meetings.
1 star — avoid rooms and service Arrived to check in and was effectively called a liar by the reception team. I had watched the guest directly in front of me hand a room back at the desk. That same room was then allocated to me — unclean, and reeking of cigarette smoke. When I went back down to report it, staff told me the room did not smell. They said this without ever leaving the desk to check it. That is not customer service, that is a brush-off. It then took nearly 50 minutes standing at reception to get anywhere. The eventual outcome? A refund, because the hotel "had no rooms available" — despite rooms still being advertised as bookable online at that very moment. The refund itself took a further 50 minutes to process. So after almost hour in a hotel lobby, I was turned out at 4pm on a Saturday afternoon to find alternative accommodation at short notice. The front desk team here are a poor representation of the IHG brand. Being told you are lying, being handed a dirty smoking room, and then having your complaint dismissed without so much as an inspection is about as bad as hospitality gets. I would not have staff conducting themselves that way in a front-of-house role in any business I run. Thank you, IHG.
I stopped in to charge my car late at night. The kitchen was closed, but Freddy on reception was kind enough to make me a sandwich. It was a damn good sandwich too. It was a short stay but fantastic service from Craig and Freddy. The chargers are good too, worked with my octopus rfid card. Just make sure you register your car in the hotel.
The location is great sitting at the edge of the motorway and also is proximal to the depot of giants like DHL, Tesco, Royal mail amongst others. The rooms were decent and the facilities were sufficient. Though i personally felt few of the staff on the day shift were absolutely unhelpful and also sometimes displayed the definition of people who shouldn’t be in the hospitality industry. The night shift team specifically Craig and Alice did everything in their power to make us feel comfortable. From sorting out missing laundry to clearing the billing mess made by the Day team, and all the small gestures, They did a great job. The 5 star goes to them
