Decent hotel and convenient for the airport…HOWEVER… I booked with a specific note on my booking for “Fully functioning room aircon” what I got was a breeze that was only powerful enough to move a strand of hair!? Useless! The thermostat was restricted and despite putting it on ‘full blast’ - no change. That is NOT “fully functioning room aircon”. I ended up asking for a desk fan as it was too hot and stuffy in the room. (Typical hotels that try to save money even after falsely advertising!) The bed sheet housed a dirty mattress which was visible because the bedsheet wasn’t the proper size! The pillow cases were clean but you could see the dark, dirty pillows inside! The bathroom was clean. Breakfast was (just) ok. No coffee machine and instead filtered coffee in a thermos. The fried eggs were literally soaking in fat. Everything else was ok. The only good thing was the price - but fix the aircon!

We've raised a formal complaint with Hilton regarding our stay because it's been so poor. Firstly not easy to walk to from the train station despite being close by. Stupid as it sounds but Get the air rail into the airport itself and walk from there. Secondly, We needed our passports for checking in to the hotel - that's ok if flying abroad, but for everyone else either here for NEC events or flying domestically this could come as a nasty surprise. After we checked in and got into the room, we saw reading lights were loose on wall fittings. Later we had power kept coming in and out intermittently disturbing us trying to relax in the evening. TV cables were broken meaning the pictures were broken up, sound distorted and channels limited to about 3 channels which sort of worked but not well. We woke up with bites all over us on our first morning causing concerns of bed bugs. We had problems with staff at breakfast as well with a harsh/condescending tone and questioning over how old my step son was because he's tall so she didn't believe his age. I already put on the booking his age and there was no flagging of an issue with his age. Even when I called to amend the booking there was no mention and nothing was said to us when checking in either. So to be bombarded with those questions first thing when we were only coming down for breakfast was somewhat rude. She spoke straight to me and referred to my step son as if he was not a person, more a "thing". All problems have been taken up with reception (We've had to go down 4 separate occasions). The only times we had good interactions with reception was when we first checked in and when we reported the TV issue. The rest was no apology for the issues or anything. I even had to ask one of the receptionists to check the notes on our room to get an update on the bed bugs issue in case they moved the rooms. Again she seemed doubtful of what we were saying. I've stayed in Hilton's and other Hilton hotel brands like Doubletree and they have been great stays with no issues. This one however has been the worst and considering they have charged us a little over £200 a night inc breakfast it's been the most I've ever paid as well. This is the first time my husband and step son have ever stayed at a Hilton as well. At this rate it will likely be the last.
Good-sized room, very clean, great breakfast. Arrived at 2 a.m.; check-in took less than a minute, and the staff were welcoming. Will definitely come back
Everything was great, as always, this was my third time staying here and I would never consider another hotel when visiting Birmingham, especially for an event at NEC. You get what you pay for - friendly staff, excellent location, spotless clean, amazing breakfast, good variety of the menu at the bar/restaurant, comfy rooms. Special thanks to Pacey for ALWAYS making me feel at home - we met 3 years ago when I first stayed here and every single time he remembered me AND my order! Super professional, friendly and funny.
I booked grandson into this hotel as he had a job interview for 9am nearby. He was made very welcome on arrival. He thought the room was great and food in the restaurant good. Staff were always friendly and helpful. His only issue was the price of a coke.
