Blue Jay, Derby By Marston's Inns

We stayed for 5 nights. A very comfortable room, nice and clean. Great selection of food and drink, a good atmosphere in the dining and bar area. The staff were very friendly in particular Andy who was behind the bar, he welcomed us and was always having a laugh with the guests and he made our stay a great experience

Nice hotel offering clean rooms and comfortable beds. Fully air-conditioned and quiet accommodation. No reception makes checks in a bit tricky and requires you to walk to the reception in the building opposite. A bit dry welcoming but quick and professional. There is a restaurant just next to the hotel that serves average quality carvery. I had it on Monday and it was quiet maybe hence the reason why food was a bit dry.

We had a two night stay, as a family of four. On arrival, our family room only had one single bed and a double bed. This was rectified immediately and without any problems. The staff went above and beyond for us during our stay. On the first night, my niece left her artwork in the restaurant and the member of staff who assisted us earlier with our room returned this to us the same night. On our last day we had the misfortune of our car breaking down and the staff were so helpful while we waited for the AA to arrive. We had to collect a courtesy car and staff helped us to arrange a taxi, and following up with the taxi company when the taxi hadn't arrived when expected. Our daughter also left her toy in the hotel room and this was located by housekeeping the next day. I spoke with Adam on the telephone who kindly agreed to post the toy to us. The toy arrived a few days later and included a bag of Haribo for my daughter. We would definitely stay here again!

Great value for money. Room spotless, comfortable and tea and coffee provided. Great selection in the pub if you have gluten free diet. Breakfast in with the price and this was fantastic. Staff were all lovely and friendly.
