It was a good experience. Started a little rocky in that we had to move our planned time to earlier due to not enough participants on our original time. The water was a little rough but the captain (Antoine) was amazing at keeping us dry. We thoroughly enjoyed all the sites from the water.

Itinerary
Departure: Port of Saint-Jean-de-Luz A legendary port of the Basque Country, where fishing remains the main activity to this day.
We will follow the Basque Corniche, a protected natural area located between Hendaye and Ciboure. Today, the hiking trail that winds along these cliffs is closed to the public due to its fragility — but from the sea, we’ll have the unique opportunity to admire the impressive Flysch cliffs from a privileged perspective.
You’ll discover the Bay of Loya, a hidden gem of the Basque coast, nestled between the cliffs of the Corniche and Hendaye, and overlooked by the majestic Château d’Abbadia.
Below the château, we’ll admire the “Deux Jumeaux” — two iconic sea stacks standing like sentinels facing the ocean. These natural formations have withstood the relentless force of the sea over time.
Hondarribia is home to a small fishing port that remains one of the most important in the Basque Country.
This is also where the Jaizkibel mountain range begins, home to the “Bay of Pigs” and Amuitz Island, a stunning area where the water is often crystal clear and calm. We'll make a short swimming stop here for those who wish to take a dip. (Snorkeling equipment available on board.)
We’ll make a short detour to the port of Socoa, overlooked by its historic fort — a true treasure of the Basque Country and a witness to its rich and captivating history.

It was just right !! And there was the deer surprise when we stopped and everyone could jump in the water and swim and snorkel! Loved it !! Didn’t realize that was part of the tour:)
Hugo was great and took time to explain the sights clearly in English and French. Swimming and snorkeling in the water was such a treat!
Captain was amazing ! He explained in French and English about all the areas we visited and provided historical and cultural significance . We had a little swim and returned to St-Jean de Luz accompanied by a very happy and playful dolphin! So fun !
Friendly interesting comfortable and fun to ride the the waves- And low enough in the water to see the dolphin that swam alongside. Always great vantage to see the land from the sea :-)
From the moment we got on board and left the harbour it was a rip roaring ride. If you love the thrill of zipping through the water while looking at some wonderful coastline this is the trip for you. However if you're a bit prone to seasickness perhaps avoid this trip. For my hubby and I (in our sixties) we loved every minute.
A wild trip on the ocean. At a speed over the waves seeing the southern coast of France from another viewpoint. Also a short stop for a swim in the ocean. We were also lucky when we saw a small pot of dolphins. And a guide to explain what we saw.
I recently moved to Biarritz from California, and this 2.5 hour trip was the best thing I've done since arriving a few months ago! Our skipper, Antoine, a charming Basque native, gave us an incredibly educational and fascinating tour of the coast between St Jean de Luz (just south of Biarritz) to the northern part of Spanish Basque country. Many places were only accessible by boat, and the scenery was spectacular! Antoine also treated us to swimming and snorkeling in a sheltered cove, which was delightful on a warm day. Highly recommend! A must if you are visiting the Pays Basque for the first time.
Very beautiful sceneries and memorable tour. Despite that weather was a bit cloudy, the communication was very efficient. We had a great time and out guide did the best to accommodate and explain everything and creat a war experience. Highly recommended!
The boattrip was really worth it! The guide was super friendly and explained everything in French and English. We also enjoyed the swimming at the Spanish border.
This tour was cancelled at the very last minute, after we had taken a train to go to Saint Jean de Luz only with this purpose. Since I had concerns about the weather I sent a message to the provider asking about their cancellation policies do to bad weather, but I didn’t receive any communication from him until a few minutes before the tour’s starting time. The operator said he tried to call me by phone, but he did not leave any message and did not contact me via Whats App or through the Viator’s, as he did later, at the time of the tour. The four of us were extremely disappointed and I would think twice before scheduling a Viator’s tour in the future.
Amazing views and trip. It is a wonderful value and I would even go again. Very nice experience and a wonderful day out on the water!.
Great experience along the coast. The guys were professional and knowledgeable. We enjoyed the weather which contributed to an excellent trip.
Wonderful and comfortable tour of the beautiful Basque coast by water. The boat is new and pristine, and the ride is very enjoyable.
Great fun. Very informative skipper. Exhilarating trip along the coast viewing some lovely bays that can only be reached by sea. A swim stop for those who wished. Very good value for money.
St Jean de Luz is probably one of the nicest beaches on the Frena Basque Coast. It has gold clean sand with clear ocean water. Its most impressive asset is NO WAVES and no riptide’s. It has numerous restaurants around the boardwalk and plenty of parking. A great beach day if visiting the Basque region of France.
We had a fantastic day with Paul on his boat. Departed from Saint-Jean-de-Luz along the Basque coast to Spain. Paul had something nice to tell about every part of the coastline, beautiful surroundings with sights that you can really only see from the water. Thanks Paul!
It was an amazing morning out! Paul was really friendly and knowledgeable about the areas. We saw a lot and it helped that the weather was beautiful
Very pleasant and informative sea trip, very pleasant and friendly guide... good memory
Great trip with beautiful weather and calm waters, highly recommended, and Paul is super professional.
Disappointed! Too bad, too many successive stops, then the swimming, lacks explanation at the start, not everyone can jump and be in the water at a depth of 3 m! I found it dragged on..........Furthermore, no safety in case of.... The skipper was very nice nonetheless, phew
Super ride and zodiac Top guide
Very good experience, beautiful scenery, and also a few stops for a quick swim or to see the fish.
Thank you for this beautiful walk. Our guide Hugo was impeccable. Thoughtful, bilingual for two Spanish tourists, funny, excellent musical taste. Snorkeling with the masks was great. And a special mention to the dolphin in the bay of Saint-Jean-de-Luz, which played with our boat for a while. In short, really very good.
Very good activity, with a warm and sunny welcome. A very nice and punctual guide. We recommend it!!
The trip with a fast boat is varied and covers a long distance. You learn a lot about the landscape, the sea, and history. Even a short swim in the sea is included.
We had an excellent time on the boat this morning with Hugo, who kindly, professionally, and humorously shared all his knowledge about the Basque coast during our ride. The sun was out, the boat was comfortable, and we were able to enjoy a swim halfway through the trip (with fins and masks available) Thank you! We recommend Oceanboat64 100% 😊
Nice narrated boat trip, beautiful panoramas, friendly skipper (Antoine), swimming spot in a clear-water cove. No more than 12 people on the boat and that is very good. A bit expensive, but I recommend it
Magnificent ride with Antoine, who was lovely and helped us have a very beautiful morning with my 2 daughters and my mother. On crutches, he took care to be very attentive so that I was well positioned Everything was perfect, so much so with Delphine the dolphin who came to visit us 🩵 that I am certain I will return. Fanny
It was a wonderful ride along the coast. We really enjoyed the view of the landscape from the water and the children thought the swimming stops were great. The boat captain was absolutely confident, handles his boat perfectly, and made the trip a real experience.
Beautiful ride despite the weather, Antoine showed us the coast with brilliance.
Great boat ride, very nice guide, magnificent place, I recommend it
Great guide who waited for us despite our delay…. Thanks again! Super nice excursion with beautiful scenery. Even if the weather wasn't really with us, we had a great time! Be careful to allow time to find a parking spot (we had to park in the port parking lot and it was marked full…. We had a lot of trouble finding one and the parking meters are very temperamental)
What an incredible experience! Paul is the best <3
Interesting information about the coast and the Basque Country. Snorkeling and swimming were not missing.
Magnificent boat trip with Hugo, everything went well, magnificent views, good explanations about the environment, the towns, and the geology, ending with a swim with masks and snorkels for those who wish. It really feels good, it's refreshing, and the landscapes are magnificent. I highly recommend it
Fabulous, a must-do! Great value for money We get the feeling that Hugo takes his time with us, we don't feel like we're in a tourist trap
Very nice trip on a rigid-inflatable boat that offers a feeling as close to the water as possible. A top-notch skipper, attentive, giving very relevant information throughout the trip. We stopped for a swim in Fig Tree Bay. A moment of relaxation in the middle of a multitude of small fish. And a very nice surprise to have encountered a dolphin on our way back.
Very pleasant trip, magnificent discoveries and a very friendly guide. Beautiful family moment!
Our guide Hugo was very friendly and told nice and interesting things about places where we sailed lamgs. There was possibility to swim in 2 beautiful places.
Wonderful ride and friendly skipper, good knowledge of the region and its history, possibility to swim in clear water It will be done again next year.
A wonderful experience all around! We really enjoyed the explanations at the individual stops. The boat was really great - we had a lot of fun 🤗
This boat trip is definitely recommended. Bringing swimwear is so handy. You get 2x the chance to swim.
Yesterday, we did the getaway to Fontarabie and had a great time. New boat, super comfortable, pleasant experience (what beautiful landscapes!), fun (2 swimming and snorkeling breaks), and educational thanks to Paul’s explanations (also at ease in English to comment or answer questions)!
Very nice and nice to see the beautiful coast from the water!
We were very well received and we left on time at sea Very good explanations during the outing
Fantastic beautiful canal cruise! It was a very nice experience to see the coast from the sea. Good explanation received from our skipper (Antoine) who was also very helpful. He spoke both French and English and took extensive time to talk to everyone and answer questions. Proud of its beautiful Basque Country. We are super happy that we made this trip.
It was a very nice trip with great explanation from the skipper Antoine Along the coast was much to see While diving, someone had lost their wedding ring at a depth of 20 feet Miraculously, Antoine found this one again All in all a very nice experience Definitely worth repeating
A real pleasure to discover the magnificent Basque coastal landscape with the attentive company of Paul and the comments from Antoine. An unforgettable moment in our traveling journey. Thank you Oceanboat64! 🥰
