Itinerary
Begin your 3-hour Third Reich walking tour at Friedrichstrasse Train Station, where you’ll get an overview of the key historical sites you’ll explore. Visit the site of Hitler’s bunker, the Soviet War Memorial, and Wilhelmstrasse, where Nazi leaders planned their military conquests. Discover the Reichstag, where the 1933 fire helped dismantle democracy, and learn about the lives of Berliners during air raids and life under dictatorship. Explore Hermann Göring’s former Air Ministry, Goebbels’ propaganda HQ, and other significant Nazi sites, gaining insight into Berlin’s dark past and the resilience of its people.
"Trains to Life, Trains to Death" is a powerful and moving memorial that tells the story of the deportation of Jews from Berlin to Nazi concentration camps during World War II. This poignant site honors the victims who were forcibly taken from their homes and sent on trains to their deaths, symbolizing the cruelty and inhumanity of the Nazi regime. The memorial is dedicated to remembering those who suffered and perished, serving as a reminder of the horrors of the Holocaust and the importance of preserving history to prevent such atrocities from ever happening again.
The Reichstag building is a key symbol of Berlin’s turbulent history. In 1933, a fire ravaged the Reichstag, and the Nazis used it as a pretext to consolidate power, suspending civil liberties and paving the way for their dictatorship. This event played a crucial role in dismantling Germany’s democracy. In 1945, during the final days of World War II, the Soviet flag was raised over the Reichstag after the intense Battle of Berlin, marking the symbolic fall of Nazi Germany. The building now stands as a testament to both the rise and defeat of the Nazi regime and the resilience of those who fought against it.
The Soviet War Memorial in Tiergarten is a striking tribute to the Soviet soldiers who fought and died in the Battle of Berlin in 1945. Located in the heart of Berlin, it commemorates the sacrifices made by the Red Army in the final stages of World War II. The memorial features a large statue of a Soviet soldier holding a flag, standing over two fallen Nazi soldiers, symbolizing the defeat of Nazism. Surrounded by a solemn, military cemetery, the site is a powerful reminder of the human cost of war and the pivotal role the Soviet Union played in the Allied victory over Nazi Germany.
The Brandenburg Gate, one of Berlin's most iconic landmarks, played a significant role during the Nazi era. After Hitler's rise to power, the gate became a symbol of Nazi propaganda, representing the regime's authority and militaristic ideals. The Nazis often used it for rallies and as a backdrop for their grandiose displays of power. During the Third Reich, the gate was adorned with swastikas and was a key site for the regime’s public events. Today, the Brandenburg Gate stands as a symbol of Germany’s reunification, yet its Nazi-era history remains an important reminder of the dark chapter in Berlin’s past.
The Akademie der Künste (Academy of Arts) in Berlin was closely tied to the Nazi regime, particularly through the influence of Albert Speer, Hitler's chief architect and Minister of Armaments. Speer played a key role in shaping the architectural vision of the Third Reich, promoting monumental, neoclassical designs that reflected Nazi ideals of power and authority. Though not directly involved with the Akademie, Speer's architectural influence extended to many of the regime's projects, including those associated with the Academy. After the war, the Akademie underwent a reckoning with its Nazi past, much like other institutions in Berlin, grappling with the legacy of Speer’s influence and the broader complicity of the arts in supporting Nazi propaganda. Today, the Akademie stands as a place for contemporary arts, but its historical ties to the Nazi period are part of the broader discussion on Berlin’s complex past.
Is a poignant and solemn tribute to the victims of the Holocaust. It consists of a field of 2,711 concrete slabs of varying heights, creating a powerful and disorienting effect as visitors navigate through the undulating pathways. The memorial serves as a somber reminder of the atrocities committed against the Jewish people and invites reflection on the impact of such historical tragedies.
Stand above the location of where Hitler spent the last days of WW2, the site of Hitler's Bunkers, location of Hitler's old Reich Chancellory, which was built by Albert Speer
Wilhelmstrasse was a central hub for the Nazi regime in Berlin, home to several key government buildings, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Reich Chancellery, and the Ministry of Propaganda. The street housed offices of high-ranking Nazi officials such as Joseph Goebbels and played a crucial role in the administration of the regime, including military strategies and the persecution of Jews and other marginalized groups. It was here that important decisions were made that shaped the course of the war and the regime's oppressive policies. After the war, much of Wilhelmstrasse was destroyed or repurposed, but its dark legacy as a symbol of Nazi power remains embedded in the history of Berlin. Today, traces of this past can still be seen amidst the area’s modern redevelopment.
Hermann Goering's former Air Ministry, known as the Reichsluftfahrtministerium, was one of the most important buildings in Nazi Berlin. Located on Wilhelmstrasse, it housed the offices of the Luftwaffe, the Nazi air force, and was a symbol of Göring's power as the head of the Luftwaffe and Hitler's second-in-command. The building's grand design reflected the regime's ambition and authority, and it played a key role in the administration of Nazi military and air operations throughout the war. After the war, the building was largely repurposed, but its association with the regime’s militaristic and oppressive actions remains significant.
The Topography of Terror is a museum and memorial located on the site of the former SS and Gestapo headquarters in Berlin. It focuses on the role of these organizations in enforcing Nazi repression, persecution, and the Holocaust. The museum features exhibitions with photographs, documents, and accounts that highlight the brutality of the SS and Gestapo, showing how they implemented state-sponsored terror. Built on the original site, it serves as a stark reminder of the horrors of the Third Reich and educates visitors on the Nazi regime's violent legacy.

Artie was outstanding. Deeply steeped in the subject, he was able to approach it thoughtfully and guide discussions and reflections. He engaged the group thoroughly as he led them through Berlin’s streets and its history as a focal point of cruelty, resistance, and resilience. Artie’s was not a recitation of facts and dates but a critical and thoughtful engagement. Faced with communicating the overwhelming cruelty of the Nazi terror regime and its many cruelties and predations, Artie maintained an unwavering focus on the people and the human toll of living the 12 years under the regime. For visitors to Berlin who make the time, this tour is a must.
Fantastic!!!! Our guide, Campbell was great!!!!!!!!!! He helped put the history into context!!!!
The 3 hours flew by. Special shoutout to Jorg our guide. Really informative, friendly, open and communicative. Really made the tour a complete success. He knows his stuff! And he finished the tour with some really personal family stories about WW2. 10/10 would recommend
We really enjoyed the experiance! Our tour guide Jamie was always ready to answer to all of our questions in a very interesting way! Thank you!
So we missed our actual tour due to not opening and reading the off so gave the wrong meeting point to the taxi driver, however when we finally arrived at the correct meeting point we were able to rearrange it to the next day. We loved it and learnt so much about Berlin and its history.
Great museum , old weapons and historical place and pictures , lovely stuff , advice you to visit it .
Wow, Emma was an absolutely amazing tour guide! Her knowledge and passion for the subject showed in every story she told us. We really got a comprehensive overview of one of the most pivotal places in modern history.
Absolutely brilliant walking tour. Our guide Daniel was incredible and so knowledgeable.
Emma was amazing. So knowledgeable and presented the information in a very informative and engaging manner. My only recommendation is to have microphone and headset so everyone can hear better. Otherwise incredible!!! Would highly recommend 😊
All walking tour Not inside the museum No headphones No refreshments Whole tour was so tiring that we had to left in between
Emma was a great guide. She clearly knows and understands both the city and the history behind the city. She was both cheerful, yet had a clear understanding of the deeply emotional topics of the Third Reich and it's atrocities.
Nikolai was a great tour guide and very in depth on everything to do with WW2 and the historic spots in Berlin. Would recommend
Fantastic tour with a really knowledgeable and friendly guide, Campbell. Really appreciated his recommendations for further places to visit. Thank you.

This tour was incredible, in particular because of our tour guide Daniel. He was so enthusiastic and knowledgeable and gave great information at every location. It was great to understand more about this part of Berlin's history and I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Berlin
Fantastic and fascinating experience. Our guide Gregor was exceptionally good and knowledgeable with some personal anecdotes also which made it even better. Would thoroughly recommend to anyone interested in WW2 in particular.
Gregor our tour guide was very good and interesting we really enjoyed his tour. He gave a very honest assessment of how it was at the time of the 3rd Reich and WW11
Great experience. Gregor was a very knowledgeable host and gave participants food for thought as well as the history.
Very informative tour - just don't expect a lot of visual since Berlin was mostly destroyed during the war but was very informative and interesting to follow through the timeline with Nicolaus, our tour guide.
Enjoyed the history lesson and our guide was very knowledgeable. Easy walkable pace and he made sure no-one was excluded.
Good tour, well paced and informative. Very good value for money. We really enjoyed the guides insights!
Very informative and the guide Ariel was great! Exactly as described and we lucked out with a decent weather day.
Arti, Is an exceptional tour guide. From our meeting to leaving at the end of the tour he was welcoming, personable and without doubt the best tour guide we have met. His knowledge and delivery of modern European history was impeccable akin to my brother in law Mike who is a Cambridge Professor and lecturer. This was a fantastic outing and certainly not long enough. Well done Arti, hope meet again. Trevor Nash
Good tour with Great insights on history Good for someone new or 1st time in berlin Places has good historical view
Campbell, our guide, was very knowledgeable and made the tour very interesting and happy to answer any questions.
Giles was excellent. Very knowledgeable and able to answer our questions. He guided us expertly around the 3rd Reich sites.
Campbell was our guide on this very interesting tour. He did a great job of explaining all the interesting facts about the places we stopped at. Thank you
My guide Hannah is excellent. Learned so much about the city and its history. She answered all questions with patience and insight. Thank you!
Awesome tour! We learned a lot from Reuben :) he really knows his stuff. He was also very entertaining. He was serious when needed to be and funny all the rest of the time. As for the route itself, it was okay. Lots of the stops were actually just standing where important places used to be. Learning the history behind it made me appreciate them more All in all enjoyed it. Would love to try the other tours with this operator 👍🏻
Hannah was a fabulous guide. Mixed history with personal stories. Captured the trajectory of the third reich and the impact on so many people. Recommend.
Hannah provided a wonderful tour, filled with helpful, informative, nuanced and respectful information about this vitally important historical time and place. We learned much and felt she created an experience that we will remember for some time. Outstanding tour and guide - highly recommended!
This was a good tour with lots of history. It was kind of a large group so it would have been better if the guide had a head piece/ microphone and have the people on the tour with ear pieces. This would be helpful to have when walking and to be able to listen.
This was an incredibly interesting & informative tour led by Chris. Chris was a great guide, a friendly, lovely guy! The tour was respectful of the horrors that occurred.
Our Guide, Campbell did a great job!!!! He was knew his history but also presented it a great contextual way. Can't thank him enough for such a great experience!!!
This tour was incredibly informative and well worth it. Our guide, Daniel, was super personable and did a fantastic job explaining everything. You can tell when someone is genuinely passionate about the subject they are covering, and Daniel was definitely that. Our group of six learned so much about Berlin, its history, the three Reichs, and the context behind Hitler’s rise to power. There was a fair amount of walking, and Daniel went above and beyond by accompanying us to the old wall and Checkpoint Charlie after the tour concluded. Highly recommended—Daniel is a great guide!
Extremely disappointing because the booking says you go to hitlers bunker( which is why I took the excursion) and it doesn’t exist! Our guide was annoyingly chatty and the excursion ran late( we had other things to do)!
Great tour, learned a lot about Germany’s history . Highly recommended. Our guide Daniel was kind knowledgeable and accommodating. Thank you Daniel, you rock!
Fantastic walking tour with Ariel, our very knowledgeable guide. Good pace to the tour, ability to ask questions. Very interesting to hear the background of the rise of the Third Reich and see some of those historical sites. Highly recommended.
I highly recommend a tour led by Callum. He is very knowledgeable and shares that information in a very engaging manner. Our group was diverse in age and nationality and Callum easily related to all of us.
The tour guide, Ariel, was very good. This tour was roughly 3 hours and very engaging. This period of history is something I have learned about in history classes, seen in movies, read about in books. But there is something so different, about seeing it in person. It felt honestly pretty emotionally overwhelming, to think about the people who have suffered, to try to understand how something like the genocide of the Jewish people could have happened. To understand how people felt about it 100 years ago, versus now, and all the time in between. And to see how physically affected Berlin was by the wars and post war period. I thought Ariel did a very good job of highlighting different perspectives, and giving context to what we were seeing.
Excellent and informative tour with Ariel. He is highly knowledgeable regarding the history of the Third Reich, as well as the history of East and West Berlin.
Campbell the tour guide is the best and an historian academician with knowledge and insight. This tour is well worth the money. Do it.
Eran was a very good guide for our ~three-hour walking tour. We got a very good idea of how the Third Reich rose, the impact on so many (Jews, Roma, Sinti, and others) from National Socialism, and the fabric of Fascism.
I booked this tour because - as a German - I was very interested in seeing the real places for the historical facts I already knew. Really great explanations by our great guide Jörg. He also mentioned some sights not relating to the topic.
Campbell was an exceptional guide. So much knowledge. He kept the tour interesting and fascinating.
Irish Paul was a great guide. Incredibly knowledgeable, with engaging stories. Our teenage sons found the locations and stories really interesting. Highly recommended.
Campbell was a great tour guide and very informative. I learned a lot on this tour and would recommend it.
Great tour with an exceptional knowledgeable guide! Loved that we had a history major in Campbell giving us a wide range of information and answered so many extra questions we had.
