Anja was excellent, and the tour was well planned. She offered interesting insights and shared deep knowledge. Sobering tour, but well worth it.

This was a very informative tour. I enjoyed the small group size which allowed for Q/A. I would have liked more time in the museum. I think the tour should be an hour longer. Anja was our tour guide and she did a great job getting us around, sharing stories of events that occurred at the camp, and she used a notebook of illustrations for visual explanation.
This is an emotionally difficult place to visit but our guide Julia made it completely accessible with her knowledge and skill at explaining the history and events there. She did not only give us facts, but weaved a narrative that made it come alive. She also shepherded us through the trains and different buildings in an unrushed way providing commentary along the way. I can’t say enough positive things about her! Yes, one can visit on their own, but Julia made it more manageable and informative.
Comprehensive, engaging discussion of events leading up to the Holocaust and creation of the concentration camp. Our guide provided easily understood information and answered questions thoughtfully. Highly recommend this tour.
very god Guide, took us to the history of that time. Thank to Beny.
Julia was a fantastic guide. It was a smaller group and we got to ask a lot of questions and she was so knowledgeable and friendly. I highly recommend this tour.
The organisation, instructions and meet up point were great. I arrived where I needed to be and the guide was clear and presented himself well. After visiting a famous camp in Krakow, I found this memorial site a little underwhelming with a lack of historical buildings and authenticity. This is no fault of the people organising this tour, I should have done my research before booking. The history around the camp was interesting and my guide was very knowledgeable. Thank you Beny. We left Berlin around 10am and returned approx 4:15pm. As this is a walking tour, go prepared with something to eat and drink as options once on the trains is minimal. Finally, despite it being warm in Berlin, the venue was very cold with a wind that cuts through several layers. If visiting in October or later, be prepared with additional layers.
Great experience, you take the train route thar POWs took to Saschenhausen, you walk through the town as they did. We went on a bleak rainy day who seemed all the more fitting. Great tour, fantastic guide (Jonathan) with great stories and very educational!
Lewis was a fantastic guide. He was extremely knowledgeable and knew how to present this heavy subject in a respectful and thoughtful way.
Lewis was a great tour guide! !
Excellent guide who provided a friendly and very detailed trip. Although a difficult trip to undertake it was thoroughly educational.
Amazing tour. It was a surreal experience. Our tour guide Walid was awesome, he gave us a great history run down from start to finish. The train system was confusing and he navigated us through the different trains with ease and no stress. We had a great time, thank you Walid!
Julia was an incredible guide for our tour! She is very knowledgeable and personable. Highly recommend this company!
Our tour guide Rohan was very knowledgeable and passionate about the history of the camp and area. He met us in Berlin and navigated the group to Sachsenhausen and back to Berlin effectively. Walking the grounds really hits different then watching documentaries or reading in books. Very moving experience
Sarah did a wonderful job of explaining what happened at this place in a respectful, yet interesting manner. She answered all our questions and allowed us as much time as needed to process everything.
Our tour of Sachsenhausen with Benny was excellent. He was incredibly knowledgeable and handled such a difficult subject with the perfect balance of dignity, respect and historical fact. A confronting but very worthwhile experience, made all the more meaningful by an excellent guide. Highly recommended.
Irina was an excellent guide. Lots of info. Chance to stay longer if you wanted, there were lots of info boards which woukd take hours more to read. My teen even found it interesting and believe me hes hard to please. Would I recommend, yes most definitely
We had a great guide (from Canada)! We recommend this tour versus going there on your own. Great value for money!
Since having touched the subject of the war at school. This was the first time we had been to a concentration camp. It was an amazing but solemn experience and brought home the evils that lurked then and how easy it is for such evils to emerge today. Our guide Lucia was a fountain of knowledge and answered all questions thrown at her and some more. I think the main issue was the lack of time to take in all the exhibits and ‘senses’ from the experience but it was a long day so not to be helped. Advice: take a poncho if it rains, water if its hot, snacks if you get hungry. Its a solemn place so eat outside and always be respectful. The train journey is comfortable but don’t straggle otherwise you might get separated and have to find your own way. Lucia as a guide gave attention to everyone and ensured the experience was shared by everyone. Great guide.
We had the most incredible guide for this tour. Sarah was so kind and spent the ride out and back talking to our family about all things Germany as well as any questions we had about the camp. She is so knowledgable. She was very sweet to our teen daughter and talked to her about what she knew about the concentration camps and college opportunites in Germany. She shared some great food recommendations as well. The actual tour was done so well. We were not sure what the tour would be like because it is a sad and difficult historical topic and memorial. Sarah was amazing. She would explain things in an easy and informative way, then let us look at things and be there for questions. She made sure we had a bit of time to talk and process along the way. Our family learned so much and continued talking about the fantastic Sarah throughout our travels through Europe. Thanks you so much. We will never forget this visit.
We had a nice experience, we learned more things about history, this was our second Tour to a concentration camp ( Dachau ) it was very impressive, Lewis our was good.
The trip started meeting our guide Julia at a Starbucks near the station. Julia was a supreme guide, clearly an expert in her knowledge and her delivery across the site was exceptional, I note this as this is not a place for performance but she knew when to bring the group in so as to not need to shout, and show the respect a place like this deserves for the lives that suffered here. The site is incredible and I say that not from a perspective of the horror but for the knowledge that the guide had and the work done to persevere the site.
Our tour guide Benny was amazing, he led us through a very tough tour with grace and patience
Great experience. Sarah walked us through history the best way.
After reading all the glowing reviews for this tour I am very surprised to be submitting a poor review but there really isn’t any other way to describe this tour. To start with our guide was 10 minutes late arriving at the meeting point when we had arrived 15 minutes early as requested so we were waiting but I think this was due to problems with the train so no big deal. We had a short intro and then got onto the train. No attempt to give any information during the journey. Once we got to the camp our guide took us around the main stops and attempted to explain the material she had in her little blue folder. This was difficult as her first language wasn’t English and she was struggling with the translation as well as not knowing the material, several times she said things that were actually factually incorrect- she told us that the night of the long knives was because the SS carried long knives whereas the SA carried short knives - this is just fiction. She constantly stumbled over the material and resorted to reading it out of her little blue folder. Whenever anyone asked a question she would get on a WhatsApp group with her fellow guides who would get her an answer. We gave up asking after a while and just asked ChatGPT. We wished we had just gone to the camp independently and used the audio guide or just used ChatGPT as our guide. All in all a very disappointing experience. We were expecting a knowledgeable professional guide.
Out of all the things I experienced in Berlin, this was by far the most meaningful activity. The tour was excellent; both in terms of organization and content. Our tour guide Anja was both knowledgeable and allround great, she was able to answer all of the questions we threw at her. The group was small (=the main reason why I chose this operator and not another one), and the pace was just right. 10/10, highly recommend, would definitely do it again!
Worth visiting if you are in Berlin it’s a sombre place and although the weather wasn’t great the guide was. Sarah was excellent, her passion for history and knowledge were second to none and really made the trip! It’s obviously a horrendous place but these places need to be seen to appreciate that and in the hope history never repeats. There was a lot of walking which was absolutely fine, it is obviously quite spread out. The rooms you can enter freely and see lots of detail so to do that you would probably need most of the day, however having a good guide is even better and you still get enough time to look around. There are also audio guides available.
Sarah our tour guide was amazing, she made the tour exciting, had a lot of knowledge regarding the history we were learning about.
We had a very professional and enthusiastic, friendly and informative tour provided by our guide, Sarah. Highly recommended!
Beny was an outstanding tour guide - knowledgeable, approachable, and deeply respectful of the historical significance of Sachsenhausen. He explained the complex history with clarity and sensitivity, encouraged thoughtful questions, and created a highly engaging experience throughout. The tour was thorough and insightful, covering everything I hoped to learn. I would absolutely recommend Beny and this tour to anyone visiting Berlin. Thank you for such a meaningful experience.
Excellent guide - told us everything we should know!!! Lots of patience, even when we got late, by the way!!! 5 stars guide = Beny!!! Ricardo Gil, Portugal
The tour really emphasized the weight of this memorial. We left both horrified and deeply touched by the tour. Our tourguide Anja O. managed to give a tour for all, no matter the prior knowledge. There wasn‘t a question to which she didn‘t have an answer. Additionally, she lead the tour in a kind and appreciative way, which created a group-dynamic that reflected that.
Very knowledgeable guide. Ideal group size. Would have preferred a little more time to look around and see the laundry and prison.
Canada Chris gave a fantastic tour of Sachsenhausen former concentration camp. He is a great guide… incredibly knowledgeable, shared lots of interesting stories and facts and made the whole tour really worthy of ‘must do’ status. It was an information-filled, thought provoking experience that I am really glad I did. Thank you Canada Chris!!
Very informative, camp is very different to other camps. It was Slave labour, had an internal jail and was used for human experiments!
Our guide was exceptional — informative, patient, and deeply respectful of the site’s significance. Emma’s storytelling brought history into sharp focus while honoring the memory of the victims. A powerful and sobering tour. Emma’s guide approached every detail with sensitivity and respect, ensuring we understood both the historical facts and the human stories behind them. Truly impactful. Thank you, Emma!
The tour with Emma was amazing, great storytelling with enthusiasm and knowledge! We learned a lot and enjoyed it! Can really recommend!
This trip is well organized and nicely structured to give Berlin visitors a chance to see and learn about Nazi atrocities without committing an entire day and night. I’ve never finished a tour with as heavy a heart and mind but I would take the tour again….. Our tour guide Natalie was absolutely superb!!! Deeply knowledgeable, thoughtful about the subject, friendly and helpful to all us non-Berliners with suggestions and logistics.
Lewis did an excellent job leading our tour. He was knowledgeable, respectful, and easy to talk to. The visit was heavy, but he guided us through it with compassion and patience. I am very grateful for his insight and this experience.
Lewis was brilliant. He brought the right amount of energy needed for a tough mental tour. He was sincere and respectful while bringing the right level of light-humor to our trip.
Excellent tour. Thank you Lewis for taking us through the history in such detail. Planned perfectly, no rushing and plenty of time to go through everything.
Lewis was a fantastic tour guide with flexibility and deep knowledge and understanding. A great laugh and serious side along the way
This is a must do if you are in the Berlin area. Reading about concentration camps and the atrocities committed by the Nazis is one thing, but to visit a concentration camp with a knowledgeable tour guide takes your understanding and comprehension to another level. Our guide was Sarah, and she was fantastic. Her English is superb, and she speaks very clearly, and clearly knows a lot about Sachsenhausen. We all learned a lot, and appreciated Sarah's friendly nature, and her willingness to answer any questions we had - about the camp, and Germany generally. Definitely a 5 star tour guide. We often do our 'own thing' when visiting places, but for Sachsenhausen, I would highly recommend a tour guide, particularly with Old Berlin Walks, as they keep their groups small for this location. Use the code Starbucks for a discount at checkout.
Lewis was a fantastic guide. Very knowledgeable and clear in his explanations. I would highly recommend this tour with him.
The tour was insightful. Lewis is knowledgable, passionate and great at balancing the intensity of the topic with the lessons to learn. Great tour.
What an informative tour. Rebecca was amazing, very friendly and knowledgeable whilst very respectful. We learned so much about German history. Would highly recommend.
Thank you Beny for this experience. What we see was difficult but you make it very interesting. You are a great guide so thank you.
Guide acted more like a drill Sargent and was admittedly hung over and moody. Not able to visit all areas of camp while on tour but told we were welcome to do so on our own. Tip was given because that was how they earn a living and we were the only ones out of the group to do so.
A very interesting and thought provoking visit. Lewis was extremely well informed, he spoke clearly and came across as very knowledgeable and passionate about Berlin, the history and the events he was telling us about.
Lewis was an excellent well informative guide. The only reason for not 5 stars was there was not really enough time to spend looking at all exhibits on the tour
