Our tour guide Lee was very knowledgeable and personable. He answered any questions that we had and took us to not only historical locations but also cool spots that locals visit and places where we could shop (we found a lot of uniquejewelry pieces). He also gave a few restaurant recommendations as well. One of our favorite tours on the trip.

It was a great tour, we had so much fun. Betty is so energetic and passionate about Berlin. Was a shame that we only had so little time. Next time we will be back for longer, promise!
Eros provided an excellent introduction to Berlin, as this was our first time here. He showed us several sights and explained the significance of each. We even came across the Festival of Lights that was going on which was a nice treat! You won’t go wrong with Eros.
Juan was great gave lots of advice and suggestions and showed us around the center , useful introduction to Berlin , would recommend
Betty was a great guide and this was a really good way to get an intro of Berlin and a little of the history of the city and WW2. It’s a perfect starter tour especially with a family (we had a 13 year old with us and he said it was fun and exciting). Betty was really engaging and excellent at giving us the high level overview and pointing out where else we could go/ things to next. Really enjoyed it and highly recommend.
If you're looking for a unique lens to view Berlin through, book Betty. Her tour gave us a well paced overview of key events and places, and she helped us really think about the impact on the people and the city today. All told with authentic passion, great knowledge (she answered all of our questions), and high energy!
Loved our tour and our guide, Anastasia. She was knowledgeable, kind, and read the needs of our group very well. I could’ve walked the streets of Berlin with her for days!! Thank you for the perfect introduction to Berlin!!
Our tour guide, Martin, was wonderful and very knowledgeable. He has lived in the city for a long time and has a rich understanding of the history, pre and post communisim. My only complaint is the fact that Withlocals charges in Euros, which fluctuates of course in the daily exchange rate. Our first tour that we booked with a different guide was cancelled by the guide because he was sick, and my refund wasn't processed for a few days. Because the exchange rate went down, it cost me more money due to the guide cancelling our original tour. Othwerwise, it would have been a 5 star review.
My husband and I have lived in Berlin three years, and we treated his parents to a tour on their first visit to the city. I would highly recommend Eros for both first-timers, as well as residents, who want a deepened understanding and appreciation of Berlin history! Eros was incredibly knowledgeable and engaging; he hit all of the major sites in Mitte on a compact tour, which was absolutely *packed* with information. He was always able to answer questions, and he also did a great job looking out for family members who couldn't walk as much, finding spots to sit and rest along the way. I was amazed at how much we saw and learned in such a short amount of time; it was honestly a much better experience than the 3.5 hour walking tour I had previously taken, which felt a bit long, slow, and bloated by the end. This compact tour is exactly right for a focused, welcoming introduction to the city. Thank you, Eros!
Seth was a good tour guide for me and my family. He explains and provides great insights and information on what he is showing us around Berlin. Perfect way to start our vacation in Berlin
Michele was personable and knowledgeable and gave an overview of a large area of Belin in a short amount of time. By walking to places it made a very large City and little smaller. I would highly recommend this tour if your short on time and love to walk.
We booked the kickstart tour early in the morning, first thing we did in Berlin. Turned out to be great, lesser people, on top of that Michele was a great guide and the weather was sunny, perfect conditions!
Eros was really professional guide. He told lots of stories about Berlin history, Hitler, WWII. We enjoyed every moment of the trip around the city.
This tour is awesome to give me the landscape of the Berlin’s history. Michele is so nice and patient that I can find her a friend more than a guide. I really enjoyed this trip.
Michele was terrific - her background in the arts world gave us a new perspective on the city and her passion for the history of the city was evident. We enjoyed the tour immensely!
Our experience with Michèle was awesome. She made us comfortable right from the start and also made us feel safe during our walk. She took time to explain every part of our walk and did not rush through the trip. She was also very patient in answering questions and super informative. It was an amazing experience for us and I would recommend Michèle for anyone new to Berlin.
Had a great tour with Christian the Iocal Italian German 😜 Very knowledgeable and easy to talk to, we learned lots about Berlin in a short time. He also text me some more details I asked about afterwards - fabulous service, thank you!🤗🤩
I am very thankful to Claudia for that great tour! Already knowing Berlin pretty well, I still got to know plenty of interesting historical and cultural insights, saw Berlin with the eyes of locals and just had pleasant 1,5 hours of walking! Claudia can guide you through the wide range of topics, surprise you and give you a great overview of what life in Berlin is like! Thanks!
Excellent walking tour. Very informative. The history of some places naturally made me sad. Pity about the rain.
Engaging, well-informed, well paced walking tour of central Berlin. Our guide tuned into what interested us and gave us a local’s insight.
Claudia has been very nice since the start of the booking process. The tour was great and very informative. Claudia told us about the history and culture, showed us the highlights of Berlin. We enjoyed the tour very much and would definitely recommend to all visitors. This tour is the best start to explore the city!
We really enjoyed our walking tour with Jim. We learnt a lot about the history and the local area, things that we wouldn't have seen Or known about if we hadn't booked this walking tour, like the worlds first traffic light! He gave us ideas for where to visit during our stay and also recommended a great bar (8mm, where we spent that evening) and some local restaurants. Jim was informative but also an all round lovely person. I would definitely recommend him and the walking tour - book for when you first get here to give you an overall view of the history of Berlin. Thanks Jim...maybe we can return the favour when you visit our local town!
Tijmen passed on his extensive knowledge about Berlin in a relaxed and easy manner. It was our first experience of Withlocals and we would definitely use the service again.
Claudia is a fantastic guide. She customized the tour such that we could see all landmarks I was interested in. She was very informative and provided many interesting facts and stories, and even had some old photos of the wall with her! As it was very cold, she took me for a hot chocolate stop on the way which was delicious. I would highly recommend booking a tour with Claudia!
Tijmen was so informative and such a lovely guy. We really enjoyed our introduction to Berlin with him. It was a great starting point to our visit.
Tijmen shared his extensive knowledge of Berlin with us in a friendly and informative manner. Our 90 minutes with him was a highlight of our visit to the city.
Michele!!! The level of knowledge and passion that Michele has for Germany absolutely blew us away. We only had a limited time in Berlin and let me tell you it was very well spent with Michele. She packed in hours worth of history, information and fun facts in only 90 minutes!! I only wish we had more time with her because she is a true gem and we loved hanging out with her. You will NOT be disappointed with a tour from Michele. There are tons of tour guides but only ONE MICHELE! Do yourself a favor and book a tour with her. I'm even more impressed with HER breadth and depth of knowlegde about German history and culture because she is not a native of Germany. Thank you so very much for showing us your city Michele! Hopefully one day we can get a chance to see you perform! -Rob & Diona from Los Angeles
Michelle went so far above and beyond our expectations for a tour of Berlin. We relished her enthusiasm and deep love for the city and were well-equipped to continue exploring on our own the following day.
Michele was my tour guide. She was very personable and down to earth. She pointed out all the important must see sites in Berlin. I would highly recommend this tour.
I booked a private 90 minute tour with Claudia as a guide. We met at the arranged moment and it was a very enjoyable experience and time flew by. She's very knowledgeable and easy to speak to and you can see she loves Berlin. As she lived in Berlin during the time of the split, it's also nice to get some inside view on how it was then. She gave some nice pointers when we departed. I passed by the Schinkel church she pointed out during this short 90 minute walk 😃. Tx Claudia, I had a wonderful time and learned a few things about Berlin in the meantime. I was here on a businesstrip and you mostly do not see a lot of a city then normally (this was in the late afternoon/evening) and I can only recommend of just doing this. Enjoy.
My girlfriend and I booked a tour 90 minute tour in Berlin a few days before going, thinking that it would be a classic group tour. Instead, it was only the two of us and the guide, Eros. He was an excellent, convincing, factual, and including story teller. He was a fluent English speaker and very aware of his audience in that he continuously made sure to ask if we had any questions or comments. Also, he was very knowledgable and clearly had a massive passion for German and International history. He was able to answer all of our questions no matter of they related to his stories or completely off-topic. Relationally, he made sure to underline whether his answers were his own opinion, rumors, speculations, or proven facts, which made the tour more credible and rich in perspectives. I highly recommend the 'Kickstart Berlin in 90 minutes' tour - and especially with Eros as the tour guide. He even went over time just out of interest. Moreover, he made sure to give us recommendations on where to go after the tour regarding food and drinks. Thank you!
Dave was an excellent guide, giving us a great insight into the history, culture and must-see sights of Berlin. He had a very friendly manner and made the tour enjoyable as well as very informative . The time went by too quickly. When he left us at the end he gave us some suggestions for places to visit and eat at during our stay. Can't recommend him highly enough.
We really enjoyed our tour of Berlin. We learned a lot of the basics. It was perfect for us because we didn’t have much time. It was a very reasonable price too. Tymin even gave us some direction for what we wanted to do after our tour.
We met Dave for 90 minutes in Berlin, and had a great experince. We got to see some interesting stuff, but more important, he could answer all the questions we had about the city. We will definitely recommend a tour with Dave.
The experience of a visit with locals was very interesting. One can see details that otherwise would pass by and not even noted it. Tijmen was a very wellcome person and we feel very comfortable with him. This is not my first time and I will repeat that kind of visit in the future. Best
The tour was excellent, giving us a much better understanding of Berlin and the historical sites associated with it. You thing you know about Berlin until you go on this tour. Well worth the time and money.
Great way to start any visit to Berlin. Provides excellent introductory orientation and visits key locations, highlighting those places you may want to revisit. Leah was great company, really friendly and informative with good insider tips, answering all those questions you may have as a first time, or long since visitor. Thoroughly recommended!
Thank you for the fantastic tour Dave! Really informative, will highly recommend to others. Went at a good pace, gave us a chance to ask questions and find out more
Tijmem gave us a refreshing view of Berlin. I like using local as they give a perspective that is not restricted to a well oiled spiel.
Thanks to Elisabetta for her well informed tour of the outdoor art in Berlin. She was able to point out works by famous painters we would never have found otherwise, but more importantly tell us how the art relates to the dynamic culture of the city. We enjoyed the walk through several different neighborhoods, old and new. Thanks for a wonderful tour!
I felt that I was lacking in an overall walking experience of Berlin the day before I was going to leave Berlin and scheduled on very short notice a private walking tour in Berlin for 90 minutes. I wish I had this tour when I got to Berlin because Leah gave an awesome walking tour on Tuesday October 1, 2019. She was very knowledgeable and definitely showed us sites that I would have skipped over... thanks for a wonderful evening Leah :-D (Best wishes to you in Berlin!!)
This was my first visit to Berlin and Leah very helpfully introduced me to various landmarks that helped me understand the geography of the Mitte area. I was delayed flying out and Leah was very responsive to the change in my timings. The stroll around was very gentle and Leah also shared with me two or three venues for food and drink two of which I visited and really enjoyed! Thank you Leah!
I definitely recommend the personal tour over the bus tour... The bus was cool because it went through the whole city, and we got the boat ride, which was a different perspective. Although, the stops were not well marked, and I would recommend getting off/on at the same stop... its a PIA to find the right place if you haven't been there already. But this personalized tour was a COMPLETELY different experience. First of all, it was PERSONAL... like my brother and I with the guide, Michele. We had a tough time understanding where to meet her, and she called me directly to walk me through where to meet. She spent as much/little time as we wanted at each site. We asked about other monuments, and went to those instead of / in addition to the a scripted plan. We stopped and discussed the rationale of the monuments and their design. And then, when we didn't have any idea what else we wanted to see, she took the reigns and led us through some of the most historic features of the city. Some we would have never known to look for... I cannot recommend Michele enough. I wish I had her for every location I ever visit. Two very enthusiastic thumbs up!
Definitely worth doing ! Dave brings it all to life and gets the ideas flowing of where to go next ! His knowledge about the history and straight forward comprehensive approach gave us a good understanding of how and why things happened in a really informal friendly way ! The 1 and a half hours flew by ! If we were staying longer we would definitely go on another tour with Dave !
Dave explained German history and could speak about it concisely and with great clarity. He could answer any question and showed us many historical sites, including where Hitler lived and died. What we liked the most were his stories and the context he would provide.
Dave was our local guide and he was very engaging for 7 adults. He had much to tell us and Berlin history and set the stage well for our next few days in the city. He had a long tour before ours, and we had some last minute changes due to flight delays. Yet he handled everything gracefully. We very much appreciated this. We chose Dave because of his love of history (as well as his English) and he exceeded our expectations. Thank you Dave.
Our local guide Nadine has a lot of knowledge about Berlin. She gave us a very, very good tour of the must-sees of the city. She was very sweet, friendly and nice. Both me and my 16 year old daughter appreciated her tour very much. She gave us great advice on restaurants and stores for the rest of our stay. We highly recommend Nadine and would send anyone visiting Berlin her way! Thanks Nadine for making our trip start in such a great way!
My wife and I landed in Berlin last week, and within 30 minutes of getting settled in our hotel met Leah for a guided walking tour. It was a perfect way to start our trip. She gave us the lay of the land, told us some really interesting history of the city, and set up our week with a sense of welcome and adventure. We recommend Leah -- her enthusiasm for the city is evident.
Claudia was a wonderful guide. She tailored the walk to be most relevant to my tween age children and has a vast body of knowledge about the past and present history of the city.
Happy Holidays, Isobel and just wanna remind and say that Berlin tourist guiding experience was awesome and friendly and very enjoyable :) Happy New Year
